"Ice Cream Cafe has dozens of interesting flavors, like avocado and brownie batter, and many vegan, non-dairy, sugar-free, and gluten-free options. If you come here in the late afternoon or early evening, there’s usually a line out the door that spills onto the deck, but it moves quickly. Try flavors like black raspberry, peppermint stick, orange sherbet, and maple walnut, and add on a salt-water taffy if you feel like having some dessert after your dessert. " - jennifer mattson

Google
We saw this place had a 5-star average with almost seven hundred reviews, so we tried it. The five stars are 100% accurate. It's a cute little ice cream shop with so many choices, a friendly staff, and reasonable prices. The ice cream is fresh-made and delicious. I don't think that one could go wrong with whatever flavor they choose. They even had a couple of limited edition flavors when we went. We tried the Indian Pudding, and it was very tasty. (We all had multi-scoop containers, so many flavors were tried; all were delicious! ) There is a small patio on the back of the building to enjoy one's treat, but I have the feeling that, on summer days, this place is jam-packed and the back deck is crowded. 😁

Google
AMAZING! They had dairy free options and I could actually get a whole sundae made dairy-free. EASILY!!! And they had actually good options for flavors not just sorbet or something. I got sweet granola and coffee and it was delicious. They had dairy free hot fudge and whipped cream as well. I loved it!! So tasty. They also had dairy free soft serve - never seen that before!! Great options for dairy-free people, vegan, and sugar free. The normal ice cream options were good too everyone loved what they got.

Google
This is our favorite place to go for ice cream after a day at the beach! They have a ton of ice cream flavors both hard and soft serve. They also have the best vegan options on the Cape. Our vegan friends enjoy their vegan soft serve, shakes, and blizzards. They also have vegan peanut butter sauce that my friend swears by! My non-vegan family enjoy their soft serve twist, cookies and cream, and peppermint stick ice cream. My personal favorite is their cherry vanilla chocolate chip!

Google
A must stop place if you’re in Orleans. Got a small sized sundae with the chocolate brownie ice cream and all the fixings, fantastic. Good size & very reasonable. But beyond that, the ice cream was amazing! Homemade and so chocolatey. Highly recommended! One of the best.

Google
Delicious homemade ice cream in Orleans! Dutch, waffle cones and everything! They also have an assortment of candy and super friendly staff! Go check them out!

Violet S

Google
Our to go ice cream place for years, great service, friendly and efficient. Excellent variety of delicious ice cream. Best Expresso in the area, although in paper cups🫤

Kristian DeJesus

Google
Top notch ice cream at this place. Thick and creamy, and delicious flavors. Also includes gluten free and vegan options ❤️

Google
A wonderful ice cream place close to the Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path. Giant variety of flavours, hard serve, soft serve, shakes, dairy free options and coffee. I personally like that the ice cream was not too sweet.

Yelp
This was my first time in probably 20 years enjoying a Blizzard, and it was fantastic! This place offers non-dairy milk options, which was a game-changer for me. I had a salted caramel Blizzard with peanut butter cups and Reese's pieces, just like old times before I became lactose intolerant. The service was quick and excellent. The prices were reasonable, as I received 7 items for under $45, which I consider a great deal. The Blizzard I had was sensational. I wish more places around my area offered these options.

Yelp
We were looking for a place open before Memorial Day and decided to try this place! Typically, we are Sundae School people and aren't in this area for dinner, but we were so impressed and happy that we stopped here. I got the Cocamint Chip which was unreal and Orange Sherbet. They make their own ice cream and there is parking and outdoor seating. You can pay with credit card.

Megana V.

Yelp
Pros: Tons of dairy free options Huge portions Cons: - dairy free ice cream still tasted like soymilk/dairy free, didn't really agree with the reviews - portions felt too big, you get way more than what you pay for but was only able to finish 1/4 of a small blizzard so it felt very wasteful, consider sharing

Yelp
The best ice cream on the cape. It truly is amazing. Would recommend if in the area!!!

Scott K.

Yelp
Usually get ice cream sandwiches which are high quality. However tonight we decided to get waffle cones which was a mistake. Waffle cones are super thick and ice cream portion was so ridiculously small. My son and I both said it felt like we ate a waffle cone and no ice cream. Super disappointed. Def stick with ice cream sandwich.

Yelp
My go-to used to be Sundae School. Then it became Smitty's which was also good. Problem is its open for a fairly short season and usually has long lines. So I started coming to Ice Cream Cafe. The ice cream here is also very good and the lines can be long, especially in the evenings. So go during the day and the lines are shorter. They have a good amount of flavors and prices are about average for one of the better ice cream shops on the Cape. Don't waste your time at other places that don't make their ice cream on site. Basically I recommend this place and it's now my go-to on the Cape.

Janet C.

Yelp
We had delicious ice cream while on vacation! Each of us tried different flavors. One of my favorites was Maple Nut. There was quite a line, but it moved quickly! Easily one of the best ice cream spots on the Cape!!

Rebecca H.

Yelp
"We pulled over for this" on our way back to Hyannis from ptown. We had already stuffed our faces for lunch but we all have a little extra room for ice cream. After reading some of the other reviews, I'm pleased that there was no line during our visit on a Friday afternoon in August. Ha Ha!!! I was impressed by the pure quantity of different flavors available as well as diary free options. I struggled to make a decision but ultimately went with a small red velvet in a cone. The small is a very decent (probably too decent for the scale) portion. The red velvet was creamy with chunks of red velvet cake in there. I don't think I've even ever seen this flavor before let alone tried it and it was nice to try something off the beaten "cone" if you will. There is seating on the deck outside with umbrellas. It is a great place to take an afternoon break with a treat.

Laurie T.

Yelp
Here's my issue: they use real cherries on top of their sundaes. That's atypical. So when I bit into the cherry on my sundae, I chomped down onto the pit. That was, of course, right in the exact spot of a dental crown. Now my crown is loose. Not what I want for my vacation or a dental bill. It really sucks. The ice cream is good. Hot fudge wax tasty. Just please warn people if you're going to do something so highly atypical that is also a hazard. Or consider removing the pit of your cherries. I could picture this being problematic to anyone who bites down on it.

Pam T.

Yelp
Still the GOAT, best and most affordable option for ice cream in the area. Including vegan and dairy free options AND they are super conscientious about nut allergies!!

Amanda L.

Yelp
I had a very delicious black raspberry ice cream and was throughly impressed with the flavor. I guess the shop is seasonal and will close in October. Would most definitely come back for the ice cream and friendly service. Cute small sitting area outside.

Scott K.

Yelp
Being up the Cape on vacation we had to try out this ice cream joint. Place was packed! Roughly 15-20 minute wait. The peanut butter cup ice cream in a dipped cone was delicious! Service was very good. These kids taking orders were working their a$$es off and still super friendly!

Stephen J.

Yelp
We were on vacation in Cape Cod recently. We loved this place so much we came here twice. We especially enjoyed the ginger ice cream, which had pieces of candied ginger in it, and the salty caramel. The ice cream sandwiches are great, since they're made to order. Even though the line can be long, the staff keeps things moving quickly.

Allison A.

Yelp
Delicious selection of ice cream, sorbet, & soft serve. I suggest ordering online, specifically on the weekend. There's generally a very long line, which is a testament to how good it is.

A.J. R.

Yelp
I got the twist soft serve ice cream, which is a combination of chocolate and vanilla, and it was very good. They are very good with allergies and they get fresh scoopers and a new container of ice cream. They also have a nice patio for you to sit at. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

Linda P.

Yelp
I love this place. Their homemade non-dairy ice cream is so wonderful. It makes my summer so much more enjoyable, being a non-dairy person. Delicious flavors, and they don't forget about us lactose-intolerant and vegan folks. If I lived closer, my weight would be an issue too! Great service, as well. ,

suzanna r.

Yelp
We ordered the non dairy chocolate and vanilla soft serve twist with vegan caramel and vegan hot fudge. Wow it was amazing. They had a good range of options for the dairy free customer in both hard ice cream and soft serve. The caramel was a standout topping, Think - a combination of pecan, almond and caramel flavors. My daughter ordered the dairy chocolate and vanilla twist and was pleased, but not blown away. However, adding the caramel and brownie chunks made it delicious and worth coming back. I chose a scoop of pistachio and a Scoop of chocolate which was rich and creamy and made me want to come back to try more flavors! Looking back we seem to be creatures of habit as I wrote a review a year ago and we ordered very similar things:)! The best part is that it is still fantastic! Although my he line may be long - they move along fast so it's worth the wait!

Connie H.

Yelp
There are so many ice cream spots on the Cape but I feel like this is the one to go to in this area. There are a ton of flavors to choose from, the staff are all friendly, and there is space for large groups. Most importantly: it's ca$h only!

Ann L.

Yelp
This is the best place for ice cream when visiting the Cape. Every year we look forward to this place for the best ice cream and soft serve varieties. Last night we got three sundaes. All were small sundaes that includes two scoops. The first was with a scoop of chocolate chip and a scoop of cookies and cream, topped with hot fudge and Reese pieces. The second was Coffee Heath and Chocolate chocolate chip topped with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, Heath and Reese Peanut Butter Cup. The third was Soft-Serve Swirl Ice Cream with Butterfinger pieces. All of them were tasty and we ordered online to make it faster for pick up. The line is usually long, but Thursday in October would have been fine to go right up to the window.

bonita n.

Yelp
Enjoyed my coconut and my ginger ice cream. It's nice that the shop let's you get 2 flavors in a small size. Hubby was happy with the vegan choices.

Julie O.

Yelp
Very good ice cream and friendly staff! We stopped here on a rainy evening and lucked out with no line. Almond Joy ice cream was perfect in my hot fudge sundae!

Joy P.

Yelp
This is our family favorite. First, the staff is great! Don't worry if they'd us a line. They are organized and efficient and they keep the line moving. We have enjoyed the non-dairy ice cream made with pea protein. (Try the salty caramel!) The regular hard ice cream is great too. And the blizzards are a real treat!! The perfect way to end a Cape Cod evening.

Rachel T.

Yelp
Really excited to try this place but when I arrived at 9:58pm tonight, the doors were locked and the girls were cleaning up. Knocked and they said they were already closed. I get it's a Sunday, but if you close at 10pm you let guests in until then.

Christine D.

Yelp
We stopped here after Cape Escape Mini Golf for a little afternoon treat. This place takes covid precautions seriously (masks for all, calling customers in one at a time). I applaud their safety measures. They have only outdoor seating and it is limited. I would have given 5 stars for the ice cream but the outdoor seating wasn't kept up very well. There are so many flavors!!! My husband was bummed they were out of Key Lime but happy with his black raspberry consolation dessert. I ordered their dairy free soft serve twist and was delighted with how delicious it was.

Maya D.

Yelp
When I arrived to the counter, a young gentleman who informed me of his name "Paytah", was ever so kind. I informed him of my gluten intolerance and he was more than accommodating of such. When I tipped the young bloke nine dollars in ones, I realized I dropped a paper receipt in the tip jar. Paytah, then reassured me that he had no problem fishing the receipt out of the jar later that night, and I went about my night with a generous scoop in my gluten free wafer cone. Employee of the year! This facility gets an A+ in my books.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Quintessential beach town ice cream shop serving homemade ice cream. It's odd, however, that they say their ice cream is homemade because when you stand outside, you can see through the window into the kitchen all the big tubs of gross syrup titled "berry syrup" and "Oreo coffee" which are basically their ice cream flavors. Hmmm, a little confused here! I had the soft serve twist sundae tons of hot fudge and whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles and it was classic and delicious, but not this is special I have to come back ASAP kinda thing. Glad we tried it but excited to keep trying other ice cream spots in Cape Cod.

Shawn H.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The chocolate fudge brownie is particularly great, I loved the coffee oreo, and really liked the pistachio. Portions are really large.

Johanna Y.

Yelp
The ice cream was soooo good! I had a hard time choosing just 2 flavors but i got strawberry and key lime pie. And wow the key lime pie really hit the spot! Will be coming here again on my next trip to the Cape!!

Chris C.

Yelp
Let me just start here. Their ice cream is amazing. The staff are extremely friendly and fast, they options to call in for pick up if you don't want to wait in line. They follow all safety precautions wearing gloves and masks. I got two flavors cookie dough and cookies n' cream as a sundae with their hot fudge (this is the best hot fudge I have ever had in my life I had to get an extra tub on the side, and honestly just give me a spoon and a tub of the fudge. IT. IS. AMAZING.). I cannot stress this enough, if you are in the area, you owe it to yourself to get ice cream from the Ice Cream Cafe. Also they have a handful of tables outside to sit and enjoy this delectable delight. So go now you are wasting precious eating time!

Marie G.

Yelp
have been here several times. prices have gone up quite a bit and of course the portions have gotten tiny. we got a sundae almost no ice cream. cone was super small. saw someone get a kiddie cone and it was literally the size of a golf ball. getting greedy and stingy not good!

Jennine T.

Yelp
We discovered this delicious spot when we were at the beach nearby, and we've now stopped by last weekend and the one before. The line out the door was a good sign and kind of ugh - because I hate waiting - but the line goes SO fast. This spot is very efficient. They do take credit card not just cash. The outdoor seating is well-kept. I tried chocolate mint oreo - HUGE chunks of Oreo in it. We tried the chai milkshake - so good, very rich. I love this spot now and plan to try new things every time we stop by.

Katie D.

Yelp
They have really good soft serve frozen yogurt with mix-ins - the best combo: chocolate with strawberries! On our last visit, they had added even more dairy-free/vegan options! Best available options on the Cape! (visited 4/25/15 and 6/25/19)

Emily J.

Yelp
This place is great! Lots of flavor options and creative ice cream creations! The ice cream cookie sandwiches are the best!

Eden K.

Yelp
Best Ice cream EVER! They had a ton of options to choose from! From blizzards, to yogurt, to sugar free- it was amazing! Everything they had there looked and sounded absolutely delicious, and me and my family had such a hard time choosing which one we wanted! I have a feeling we might become regulars at this place :)

Caroline C.

Yelp
Favorite ice cream place on the cape. Love the dirt bomb flavor. Nice variety and gives tastings if you are undecided which is key.

Melinda P.

Yelp
This is my favorite ice cream on the cape. I don't go anywhere else. Even when the power was out, they still managed to make me a cookie ice cream sandwich. Can't recommend enough!

Reena P.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream shop and we loved their vegan options - we had vanilla soft serve with vegan hot fudge and pecans (amazing) and vegan oreo ice cream with vegan caramel!

Cristina E.

Yelp
The Ice Cream Café is exceptional!! While at the Cape, my friends and I came here three times. They have done an excellent job adapting to COVID-19 safe protocols. Even when we came at peak ice cream buying time later in the evening, the long line went quick and the service was very efficient. It's also a great post-beach treat since it's not far from Nauset Beach. There's a great selection of homemade ice cream flavors-impossible to go wrong! AND thy have awesome coffee. Loved the iced cappuccino. Definitely double fist with ice cream and coffee when you go. Can't wait to go back!!

Brooke B.

Yelp
A new favorite spot on The Cape! During our week stay, we visited 3 times. The Almond Supreme was amazing, especially for someone who does not frequently drink coffee based beverages. There was outdoor seating in the front which was a nice addition to enjoy our beverages and ice cream cones. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Everything was affordably priced. Truly 5 stars!

Ini R.

Yelp
Outstanding selection, service and taste. Can't go wrong at the Ice Cream Cafe. Ample parking & outdoor seating with a continuous flow of foot traffic, minus the overcrowding. The staff was immensely helpful and attentive, constantly monitoring the line and helping each new patron. You can go for the classic soft serve in a cone or branch out to sundaes or even blizzards. A menu full of tasty surprises. I always say ice cream tastes better at the beach, but this ice cream takes the cake.

Geraldine U.

Yelp
I was surprised by the variety of flavors and options here. I thought it would affect the quality of each flavor, but boy was I wrong. The ice cream was creamy and decadent. The maple walnut was perfect - I could eat it over and over again. Other flavors we enjoyed were the coffee oreo and triple berry. I got two huge scoops in my waffle cone and while I usually don't finish my food, I finished this ice cream with pleasure and ease.

Talia K.

Yelp
This spot is so cute! I can with my family after dinner for a little treat and this hit the spot. They had a very large assortment of flavors and toppings. I decided to get the red velvet it was very good.

Kate M.

Yelp
My son has a peanut allergy, so I was very impressed with how allergy-friendly this place was. You can tell it's made right there. It just has a superior quality and taste to it than other places that don't. The banana hard ice cream was my favorite!

Liam S.

Yelp
Excellent ice cream. I ordered the cake batter ice cream and have nothing but good things to say about it. It was creamy, with the perfect balance between sweet and savory. However, the establishment seems to only have a few active staff members at a time, causing the service to be a little slow taking an upwards of 5 minutes to get my ice cream. Staff were friendly and the menu has plenty of options wanting me to come back for more. A must visit ice cream shop.

C P.

Yelp
We finally went here for ice cream because our usual place were closed for the season, and I was glad we did. Their ice cream is delicious, servings are generous, and the selection is fantastic. The only hard part was choosing!

Jamie B.

Yelp
My favorite place in the world. Vegan soft serve on the cape. Can't get any better than this! I have to admit ice cream cafe is partially the reason why I moved here for 5 months. Not only does their vegan soft serve not taste vegan at all and is unbelievably creamy and amazing, but you can top it off with vegan whip cream and hot fudge. They also have a selection of vegan hard flavors, unbelievable cookies for ice cream sandwiches and they have gluten free cones. Their non dairy is apparently the best of the best as well. So many flavors to choose from. Hands down best ice cream shop ever. Literally a vegans dream come true. Thanks for thinking of the non milk drinkers!

Julie L.

Yelp
Delicious homemade ice cream. Got small blueberry and a small pistachio. Both creamy and fresh. So happy to find a place open during April vacation. Servers were friendly and line moved quickly. Was crowded on a beautiful Spring day.

Cathy Z.

Yelp
Ice Cream Cafe looks a little kitschy on the outside, but rest assured that everything is homemade and authentic. The ice cream here is unreal! Homemade ice cream really does not compare to the stuff you can buy at the grocery store! They have about 20 flavors of hard ice cream, as well as a few non-dairy options (hard and soft serve). It's nice that they have something for everyone! One of the special / rotating flavors was "dirt bomb," which uses pieces of the dirt bomb cinnamon sugar muffin from Cottage Street Bakery next door. Like any good ice cream shop, the small size is a huge portion! I was in the mood for soft serve, which was so fresh and delicious! I have gotten really picky about soft serve since coming here because it was seriously so memorable! I love that they serve espresso as well as ice cream. The iced latte was pretty good! Plus it makes it socially acceptable to stop in at noon :)

Nicole M.

Yelp
Very yummy ice cream and friendly staff. The lid to my chocolate milkshake / frappe wasn't on tight and when I put it on the bench it slid off spilling on the bench and grass. I'm guessing that the kind man that made me another one at no cost was the owner. He was very nice about it and came out and cleaned up the mess even though I offered to do it. My husband also enjoyed his delicious Chocolate Brownie Ice Cream and my dog enjoyed her Soft Serve Vanilla of which I can attest to be yummy too. All of their ice cream is homemade on the premise. Definitely recommend!

Laura H.

Yelp
Our group has very high ice cream (and food) standards, and this spot has become a staple of our Cape Cod vacation. Their ice cream delivers in both flavor and creaminess - ginger and blueberry are our groups favorites. I already can't wait wait for tomorrow's visit!
