29 Best Restaurants in Sydney | Condé Nast Traveler

"With its lofty setting overlooking Bondi Beach’s sweeping surf, Icebergs Dining Room and Bar flaunts one of Sydney’s most dramatic locations. Inside, the space is white-walled and minimalist, letting the views take center stage (floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony tables are perfect for taking in the jaw-dropping ocean scenes). Turn left for the bar or right for the dining room. The name hails from iconic Icebergs saltwater pool right below." - Sophie Davies

Google
had an amazing experience at Icebergs in Bondi. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. The stunning ocean views set the perfect backdrop, and the atmosphere was both elegant and relaxed. The food was outstanding—each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. You can truly taste the quality and creativity in every bite. The service was attentive and professional, adding to the overall experience. A perfect combination of incredible food, breathtaking views, and top-tier service. Icebergs is a must-visit if you’re in Bondi!

Google
A truly iconic Sydney dining experience Dining at Icebergs was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, attentive service and seated at a table with panoramic views of Bondi Beach and the crashing waves below. The setting alone is worth a visit—elegant, modern, and infused with that effortlessly chic coastal vibe that defines Sydney. The menu was refined and seasonal, with a strong focus on high-quality produce and beautifully prepared seafood. Every dish felt thoughtfully composed, with standout flavours and artistic presentation. The oysters were some of the freshest we’ve had, and the pasta with spanner crab was a perfect balance of richness and brightness. Their wine list was extensive, featuring a fantastic range of Australian and international selections, and the sommelier’s pairing recommendations elevated the meal even further. The atmosphere struck a rare balance—it was upscale without being stuffy, sophisticated but still relaxed. The staff were professional yet personable, striking that ideal tone of hospitality that makes you feel both looked after and comfortable. We stayed long after dessert, sipping cocktails and watching the evening light fade over Bondi. It’s one of those experiences that leaves a lasting impression—not just a meal, but a moment. I’d recommend Icebergs to anyone looking for a special night out in Sydney, whether you’re a visitor or a local celebrating something memorable.

Google
I went to Icebergs for dinner to celebrate my birthday and had an amazing time! The service was fantastic from start to finish — the staff were incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive, making me feel truly special on my day. The food was delicious, and the desserts were exceptional. The environment was beautiful and elegant. The money spent was completely worth it. I highly recommend Icebergs for a great dining experience!

Google
Icebergs is such a classic, classy spot for a special occasion. The main feature is the sweeping view over Bondi Beach, the venue itself is beautifully designed and fitted out. The food is beautifully presented and very enjoyable. Service has been hit or miss in my visits - but overall really top notch.

Google
Icebergs Dining Room and Bar offers stunning views, exceptional food, and a relaxed yet upscale vibe. Overlooking Bondi Beach and the iconic Icebergs pool, this restaurant offers a memorable dining experience. Perfect place to wind down after a sunny day at the beach or even after a beach walk!

Google
A beautiful dinner location. The dishes we ordered were all very tasty, my highlight was the cuttlefish starter. Service here was also very friendly when required but they also give you plenty of space to enjoy your meal in private. It is a restaurant that is definitely worth visiting, at least once.

Google
Had lunch at Icebergs Bondi and while the views were amazing, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. Service was very good and the staff handled things well, especially when we mentioned the steak was overcooked - they took it off the bill without fuss, which we appreciated. The wine selection was solid, but overall the food was underwhelming and a bit bland, especially for the price.

Google
The place as a venue is amazing. Service was great. Food was average. Set menu for $130 , 2 courses . I had the reef fish . Pretty average for what must be $80 of the $130 approximately for the main . Wines we’re priced at 4 times what they paid for them which is also at the top of pricing .

Yelp
Outstanding service, booked in advance of trip. Watched some dolphins in distance. Great ambiance! Food was good - both of us enjoyed the meal. Dress up classy for this place. Warn you it is pricey and we discovered interesting menu hack to ask for vegetarian menu - I was never so happy to eat veggie in my life! Part of our a wonderful trip highly recommend esp for lunch.

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my list of places to visit for a while now and I finally had the chance to visit. I was able to get seated right away on a Saturday without a reservation. There were a few outdoor spots open. The view is incredible and the ambiance is nice and chill. The staff were nice, some friendlier than others but my server was a little cold. Not rude, but not really trying to be nice either. Someone sitting next to me was on his iPad and was told he wasn't allowed to because the manager wouldn't like it. I think that's part of the vibe to just enjoy the meal and view. My drink and food were great!

Yelp
Fun watching the dolphins outside at Bondi while having lunch. This is very upscale. Great service. They had a great veggie menu I really enjoyed the risotto. It was awesome. They had a very big menu pretty pricey but if you haven't been before it's a must do. Such a beautiful view.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Homemade pasta for appetizer and delicious snapper entree. Gorgeous views of Bondi beach. Loved the service and food.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a wonderful restaurant. While the staff are still a little arrogant, the food and views are still sensational, the vibe fabulous, so it's still one of the best places to take out-of-towners. 4 stars as the place is just so damn expensive especially the wine.
google avatar

Yelp
- satiating price fix - they offered a cheese add on, while it was good, it was weird to pay $15 for cheese - make that resey - beautiful views - delicious drinks - service is top notch - perfect for special occasions

Yelp
We got in too early to grab a drink at the diner/bar, but it was nice to get a feel for what Ice ergs really is. If you're a swimmer, it's a winter swim club. And they are just closing the winter season. The Pacific waters can be pretty chilly, so this place can provide a slightly warmer option The staff were super nice and let me take a gander. The pool area has a gym, two pools, and the swimmers amenities to make your workout worth it. Also on site is the coffee joint Crabbe Momma's.
google avatar

Yelp
In short, don't come. Visit the walk-in bar or Icebergs Club instead. Icebergs Dining Room left me feeling robbed. A$130 pp for 2 entres. A$20 for mocktails. What a scam. I came for the view, and yet the outdated dining room's dirty shingle windows all but blocked it. Sitting at a table in the center of the room didn't help either. In fact, there is no direct view of the Icebergs pool anywhere in the dining room. The food was okay. My cod was flavorless. The octopus salad was squishy. And the wagyu was raw and lacking in the taste department as well. If you're charging A$155 for a meal, at least make it good. This was nothing to write home about, not to mention the unfocused and unorganized mess of a menu. I cannot recommend Icebergs Dining Room. The bar, which is situated in the renovated side with a better view, takes walk-ins. The swim club downstairs has a view of the pool and beach, and much more affordable food. Don't let the modern website fool you, Icebergs Dining is poised to disappoint.

Yelp
Good food, great view, outstanding service. First and only place I've been in Sydney with a truly exceptional front of house.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible view, and really good service. The food was just ok, unfortunately. We had the Asparagus Risotto (very bland), the Wagyu (ok), the Mozzarella (ok), and the Cacio E Pepe (which was quite good, definitely the best thing we had). Definitely come for the view, but maybe check out the bar menu instead.
google avatar

Kate C.

Yelp
A bit overrated, tourist trap. You need to book early to get priority seating. They aren't too friendly to POC. Food was ok. View was nice!

Yelp
An iconic cocktail bar and restaurant at Bondi Beach. Definitely overpriced and overhyped but the meal was nice nonetheless. We sat in the bar area to have some lunch (instead of going into the formal restaurant with a tasting menu only). As a cocktail bar, they do NOT sell warm drinks even in winter, with the exception of mulled wine. For food, we got the insalata terzini (simple, fresh, good), the king prawn roll (six fried shrimp on a hotdog roll with spicy aioli), and the beer battered dory and chips. The prawn roll was actually quite amazing, and the chips were perfectly cooked. Stop in for a quick bite and drink, then be on your way.

Shanna S.

Yelp
Extremely expensive. Great views, staff, cocktails, food and dessert! I would definitely return.

James O.

Yelp
View is good. The food is mid and overpriced. The customer service is good tho, they were nice and attentive.

Yelp
We just had lunch here and had to gush about it before I forgot! First, the view is great. Right next to the water, you see the beach, all the surfers riding vs wiping out on the waves, and the picturesque pool sitting right up against the ocean waves. You get a pretty good sight wherever you sit, and there's outdoor seating also available, but pretty hot during lunch, since it isn't shaded. Now the food. SO GOOD. I got the fish of the day, which was the blue-eye trevalla. Got it pan-seared and it was just so crispy, yet meaty, and perfectly flavored. Really enjoyed this dish. Came garnished with some greens and mashed potato. Can't go wrong with this one. Service was very attentive and kind. Word to the wise. Apparently tipping is new to Australia. It's a given in the US, but in Australia, it's an additional bonus and locals here recommended just rounding up to the nearest $5 or 10 for a pricey meal.

Yelp
I've been there multiple times to have a drink above the beach. today ordered an aperol spritz. was not well, not enough prosecco. to give it a bit more fizz and take out the sweetness and the person behind the bar said they are not allowed to add more alcohol but she could give me more soda, which of course would only weaken the drink and ruin the taste. I asked to see the manager. after a 10 minute wait he came and with a combination of strained politeness and brusqueness explained to me that there was no way they could add any alcohol because that would screw up the ratio of their stock and it would cost them money. I explained that I literally only wanted a small splash of prosecco and on a $17 drink three extra cents of prosecco certainly shouldn't make their very profitable business go bankrupt. I explained that I'm Italian and I know what an aperol spritz is supposed to taste like and he said that may be but this is Australia and blew me off. I explained to him that I spend hundreds of dollars a year visiting Iceberg and just to save $0.03 worth of prosecco he was going to lose my business for the rest of my life and he he shrugged his shoulders and essentially told me to bugger off. This is not the way to treat your customers and on top of that the food is overpriced for what you get. there are certainly better places in Bondi the spend your mind.! yep

M J.

Yelp
We only had lunch, but the limited food menu, overpriced and weak cocktails, and indifferent staff makes this a big pass.

Yelp
My husband and I went here as one of our stops on our honeymoon. I'm obsessed with the pool! So when we saw the restaurant we knew we had to stop in. We were so glad we did. We had a beer and wine with a charcuterie board and fries! So delicious and such a great view. Literally. Can't. Even!!! We were on a 16 night cruise and Sydney was one of the last stops in Australia. We both had backpacks on our backs, so I'm sure we looked liked backpackers. Along our trip we've noticed you get different service depending on how you look. There's a stigma with backpackers we found out pretty quickly. On the first couple days of our adventure. So for those traveling, be aware! Some places may be less inclined to give you excellent service. We encountered that more in Sydney and Melbourne more than anywhere else. However, we still enjoyed every minute of being in such a beautiful place with a great view for an afternoon drink and light lunch! Our server was very nice and more friendly after finding out where we came from and what kind of trip we were on.

Yelp
A must stop for drinks on Bondi. Icebergs is where the famous swimming pools in nearly every photo of Bondi you've ever seen are located. There are plenty of other pools along the Bronte to Bondi walk but Icebergs is the most famous. We didn't eat at the restaurant but rather headed to the bar right off the main pathway. Drinks were great, specifically the aperol spritz & espresso martini. Given that we came midday on a weekend, it wasn't overly crowded but the top deck is fairly small so I imagine ok then the weekend it would be very busy.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 Come here for the views! It's amazing. However, the food is just slightly above average and so is the beer. We came, had calamari, took some pictures, then went to the beach. I'd recommend everyone to come here if they are a tourist, gotta see the views!
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
Location, location, location! Absolutely incredible place to relax with a drink, and the food's not bad too! We were lucky to grab a table on the balcony on New Year's day for some early evening cocktails into dinner. I must say, the mule jug, though it doesn't taste very boozy, is a great bang for your buck considering it's only a few more dollars than a single mule and you'll get a little over four drinks from it. At our table we had the prawns, mussels, and Caesar salad. Everything tasted great and came in large portion sizes. I only wish we could've been there when it wasn't crazy busy, but even then it was a very special place that we won't forget.
google avatar

Toby P.

Yelp
Visiting Bondi from California I was advised that I absolutely could not miss grabbing a beer here. So, I walked from Bondi to Bronte, which is a lovely walk, and back. It was a lovely warm day after a string of many rainy days and I was able to get a seat outside above the pool with a gorgeous view. It wasn't busy and it was a nice spot to cool off on a hot day. I imagine this would be a fun spot at night
google avatar

Marta H.

Yelp
There is nothing better, regardless of the time of year, than to sit at a window here and watch the waves roll in! Partner the amazing view with superb service & amazing food (and wine) and you make memories to last a lifetime! I will definitely be back to eat here next time, hopefully in the summer when the beach is hopping!
google avatar

Enoch L.

Yelp
Amazing food, great cocktails and a spectacular view. Only downside that it is a bit pricey but as a special occasion spot, it's the place to go! We had 6 Sydney Rock Oysters which was delicious!
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
So I've been here for lunch 3 times now. First time wasn't very busy & my party of 4 scored a table on the balcony very quickly. The past 2 times however the place was mobbed & we felt like sharks in the water circling for a table. It would be very nice if they had a better system for assigning tables. Aka, waiting list. Anyhoo onto the food. First time ordered a salad & order of calamari. Salad was underdressed but I guess I prefer that to overdressed. Calamari a little chewy & not very exciting. At least it was better than their shumai that my friend ordered. Way too big & gummy. Should have been half the size. Next visit with my waking mate we ordered wings & potato wedges with sour cream & chili dipping sauce to share. These were both on point. Crispy, not greasy wings. Lovely taters. Last visit best meal of all the prawn linguini. Would order again in a heartbeat but needs to be served with a piece of toast. Hope one day they will work out the seating arrangement a little better but I'll keep giving them a try.

Yelp
Made reservation based on a lot of hyperbole thrown by reviews and Fudors. Arrived via UBER at 7:15 for 7 pm reservation. We ran late but hostess was gracious and sat us immediately. The views are amazing! Looked over expansive (and expensive) wine list. Decided on a Shiraz (Syrah spelled by Australia). Fantastic! We're not big eaters so decided to split steak and fries. Had oysters for appetizers. Oh man delicious! Evening was wonderful except significant other got mad at me justified I'm afraid. But didn't destroy our evening thank god! Food was good, service attentive, location breathtaking! So what are you waiting for!?
google avatar

Toni C.

Yelp
This place is cool! I like the bar area, it's got great views of the beach and ocean. The swimming pool is just below the dining area. The service is very good and the food is tasty! I ordered a fish dish that was sort of small but flavorful. They gave me bread to compensate. The water from the ocean fills the pool (it drains on Thursday so go figure I came on that day )
google avatar

Trevor W.

Yelp
This stop was one of my highlights at Bondi Beach. Such a surreal view overlooking the pool and ocean. Everyone was very nice and we enjoyed some appetizers and drinks. They were even so kind to take our photograph and they knew right where to pose us.
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
Aloha, when at Bondi Beach in AU, Icebergs is a must. Spectacular views of the surf to go with an amazing meal. While we were taking a hike at the oceans edge, we stumbled across Icebergs, walked in & they said last seating at 2pm. We cut our "work-up-an-appetite" hike to 2 miles to make it back in time, nice. An amazing menu with white table cloths & Italian accented servers, I almost felt I was on the Mediterranean Sea, nice. Very fresh seafood. All flavors were fabulous. Parking on the street can be tough & it is a little on the pricey side, but hey, when was I going to get back to Australia? May as well live large!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
This is purely based on the bar experience- not the dining room. The view is phenomenal, but you don't need to be inside the restaurant to see it. The drinks were just okay, but the oysters were incredible (albeit, overpriced). I imagine it would be a stunning place for dinner, but if you're just going for drinks, it's relatively unimpressive.

Yelp
My wife and I attended Icebergs Dining Room and Bar for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We arrived and were met but a very pleasant gentleman who directed us to a lady at the front desk. We had a reservation and were shown to our seat. The location overlooking Bondi Beach is simply outstanding, with magnificent views. We ordered a bottle of wine and the 'Tasting Menu', which was 7 courses of deliciousness! The food was brought out at intervals which gave just the right amount of time to chat, relax, let the previous course settle and take in the view. The individual portions were small, but over the entire tasting menu we were more than full. The staff were attentive, informative but also gave us enough space and time not to be crowded or feel rushed. Wine came out as our glasses were emptied, which was perfect. The strange thing about this restaurant was the uniforms, which I can only assume are set for the period in which the restaurant opened, as every time one of the waitresses walked past, I expected them to be carrying a baby which they just delivered. They remind me on maternity nurses uniforms which I just found surprising for this restaurant. It was an expensive meal but you get what you pay for sometimes and I feel on this occasion we paid for a wonderful night. I would recommend this restaurant for your special occasion and I would love to go back sometime in the future.

Yelp
Very good quality food , excellent for drinks before food aswell - make sure to ask for window table for dining for an amazing view unobstructed by other couples/ people. The prosciutto entry was average , could have bought the same quality cold meat at an Italian deli. The lamb cutlet main was beautiful - the mash potato nearly outshone the meat. The 500g rump is not CHEAP. Good quality cut and cooked beautifully - although still unsure whether a hunk of meat is worth that amount of money. Cocktails are expensive ! Wine was really nice lots of Italian and French options .
google avatar

Talisha M.

Yelp
Go to the roof top location...great views!!! At opposite end of the indoor dining is a hidden rooftop bar area with select menu and drinks. Not nearly as crowded! The view is spectacular and the drinks are great! Nothing beats this view. We even saw dolphins while having drinks here! Fabulous here!
google avatar

Ed L.

Yelp
I went there for brunch. Yes - the view is great (like in other spots in Bondi). The food on the brunch menu was good but not exciting. The restaurant set up feels like a dentist surgery. We went for the option with caviar - there was hardly any. $100 per head - really? This is totally overpriced and typical of a restaurant resting on its laurels.
google avatar

Yelp
Gorgeous spot to go for a swim while feeling like you're in the ocean. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
Loved this place. I mean, you can sit and have oysters, or a fancy coursed out meal, right by the ocean. The views are incredible. We chose to sit in the bar, since we had just hiked from Coogee. We ordered oysters, which were delicious. Very fresh. We also ordered the burger and the fish sandwich. The fish sandwich was just ok. It was just a fish sandwich. The burger was delicious though. And flavored well. Definitely recommend the vinegar sea salt fries as well.

Yelp
Special occasion favourite! Pre-dinner drinks in the bar, gorgeous meal with sweeping views & after dinner drinks on the balcony.... Eye candy matches the delicious tummy candy! Food & service never disappoint!! #mustvisit #nancysyelp

Yelp
If you come up here, you have to expect a certain level of pretention, especially in the swish part of the restaurant. That said, the hostess and the waiter were rather nice to me. My friends were running super late and, once they arrived, I noticed they weren't quite rude to them, but they weren't as nice and attentive as they were to me. I don't know why. Maybe just tired? Who knows. Anyway, drinks sat made on the bar for awhile at one stage, and it wasn't even remotely busy. I'm not sure what happened, started out great, but my friends thought the service was awful. Like I said, they were cool with me! The bar food was ho hum. The polenta chips are a winner, everything else is small, overpriced and mediocre. Killer views. This is definitely somewhere to come with out-of-towners during the day or when there is a beautiful sunset and oooooh and ahhhhhh over the magnificent views of Bondi. Unbeatable for that. Apparently downstairs they have a more casual pub type of place if the fancy cocktails and expensive dining isn't your style.
google avatar

Mat O.

Yelp
Awesome food. If you like see food you'll love it here. The service was amazing and the views are to die for. *if you don't like/eat see food they only have a few options.
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
I came here mainly for a nice view while having a drink and therefore can't comment on the food. We did order fries and they were as good as fries can be. The drinks were a bit over priced but we knew this coming. We sat outside and enjoyed a view of the pool and ocean over a nice drink. The service was a bit slow but the waiter was very friendly. It was a nice place to sit and relax before heading home after a beach day.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
Had brunch here and the food was amazing. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 5 is the staff were really drab! Barely spoke, acted like it was a chore to wait on us. Our female waitress would fill my male friends unlimited champagne but not mine. We had to constantly ask her to come back and take care of me too. They were very stingy about it to begin with but to ignore me and cater to my male friend is just in poor taste if you ask me!
google avatar

Joel Amigo H.

Yelp
Icebergs is an institution to locals and tourists alike. Although, they'll come for the view, they'll stay for the food and drinks. There is no other view quiet like it, whether it be dawn or dusk, the light floods the beach, the heavy weight of the world is easily lifted, when one see's such a scene. It's in Apple's language 'Magical.' The experience on the whole is casual, and trendy with outdoor tables overlooking the amazing views of Bondi Beach. The food is good 'not so magical' but it's hard to match the view, don't expect gourmet food, chef inspired masterpieces of the eye, instead simple pastas, steaks, prawns and typical pub food. The drinks are reasonably priced, but if you're a big group, you'll still need to order at the bar, as there's no table service. Once in a blue moon there's great atmosphere, and even some live music, but on the most it can just be crowded with tourists and loud. If you get a seat overlooking the Icebergs pool, it's most likely you won't hear much from inside, either due to the wind, or the overload of senses that you're ears just decide to zone out.

Yelp
Beautiful view + great service + good food. We were very lucky to get seated outside on the balcony. We enjoyed the beautiful and stunning view of the Bondi beach and Bondi pool. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and she periodically checked in on us. We're definitely coming back the next time we visit Sydney.

Ki S.

Yelp
Five star view for no question, and very attentive services. Some dishes were great but some were rather disappointing considering the price they ask for. Definitely need to reserve table near the window if looking for a romantic date.
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
We brought some international visitors here for a weekday lunch. Several cocktails to start, although very slow service, and then a nice table. The slow service was today's theme unfortunately- not sure why because it didn't seem to be that busy. The food was wonderful without being outstanding- we all enjoyed all our meals although my swordfish was a little underwhelming but the ribeye looked truly magnificent. We managed to quaff a lot of plonk which made the terrible service passable - just. I'd go again - perhaps dinner has a better level of service. The views forgive a lot but really for the price I would expect more attentive service. Worth a look.

Yelp
Spectacular views, decor and service. This restaurant definitely belongs on any list of places to take visitors when you're trying to show off how beautiful Sydney is. Go during the day for maximum wow factor. Here is what we ate and drank: === COCKTAILS No 18 Flirtini Raspberry fruit puree, Belvedere Pure Vodka, pineapple juice, vanilla gomme, finished with Australian sparkling wine No 72 Iceberg Sunset Belvedere Pure Vodka, Cointreau, Aperol, fresh ruby grapefruit juice, blended with lemon sorbet ENTREES Queensland spanner crab, 'Venetian style' soft polenta, fresh sorrel, chilli, garlic, lemon Black truffle, Taleggio cheese and chive frittata MAINS Market fish of the day (flathead) served with sorrel, parsley and roasted tomato passata Char-grilled Black Angus rib eye 400g, bone removed, served with a selection of mustards and 'Salsa Erbe' (Italian herbs, chilli, garlic, virgin olive oil) SIDE DISH Broccolini with garlic and chilli DESSERT Flourless soft-centred chocolate pudding, honeycomb & raspberry ice cream, chocolate-coated honeycomb === Both cocktails were excellent. I liked the Flirtini the best. The spanner crab entree was outstanding: very fresh and lemony. The truffle frittata was delicious but I could only eat one piece of it as it was very rich. The flathead was disappointing. It tasted dry and overcooked. I regretted not ordering the salmon instead. (I was given a choice between about ten different kinds of 'fish of the day' and I picked flathead because the waiter told me it was his favourite.) The accompaniments to the fish - sorrel, parsley and roasted tomato passata - were very nice. The steak was divine. It was tender, juicy and flavoursome and it went perfectly with the truffle mustard and Salsa Erbe. Side dish (broccolini) was good. Dessert smelled amazing - I love that baked chocolatey aroma of freshly made chocolate cake - and it tasted amazing too. The fondant centre was perfect and the choc-honeycomb pieces were an excellent accompaniment to the pudding. All in all, an exceptional dining experience. Value was below average ($250 for all of the above), but this restaurant is situated on prime real estate and you obviously pay a premium for some of the prettiest water views in Sydney.

Yelp
Unfortunately, we didn't make it past the hostess. When we arrived for a late lunch on a weekday, we asked for a table for two. The hostess responded with, "maybe you'd like to have a look at the menu first." We did, noticing that prices for mains start around $40 or so and go up to $80. Because we were on vacation and had heard that the view at Icebergs is fantastic, we then said "looks great!" The hostess then responded with, "did you know there's another restaurant downstairs? It's more like a pub with bar food and you order at the bar. We do table service up here." Both of us were dressed appropriately for a nice lunch. Neither the very fancy, downtown salon we went to earlier that day, or the designer handbag store we stopped by on the way to Bondi had any problem at all taking our money. I guess the hostess just assumed that someone about her age couldn't possibly have enough class or money to dine there. On the plus side: We actually really enjoyed the "pub" downstairs. Same great view without all the attitude. The menu ranges from burgers (around $20) to filet mingon (around $40). I'd easily give the this place 4 stars.

Yelp
This place needs a major update... it wants to be modern but you can tell it has aged a bit. This place a huge potential, as the food isnt that bad, the atmosphere screams high class and the views... breathtaking... but in the end it doesnt quite make it... The service is pretty horrible and slow. The waiters are quite snobby and probably will continue to be that way unless they know for sure you are quite "well off". Although the service was bad the food on the other hand is quite acceptable for the price. I would not recommend this place until it gets its act together... but then again I came on a vacation and most likely will not be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Talk about pretentious... the hostess is snooty as hell and will give you attitude the minute you walk in but disregard, disregard, disregard, you will have already booked a table in advance and she's only in view for a nano second anyway. The interior is like the inside of a Tiffany's box, that robin's egg blue that screams $$$ probably due to the association with the jewelry store. Oh and all the rich locals dining with family and drinking champagne at noon. (Just sayin') Enjoy a glass of the Cloudy Bay sparkling while you wait to be seated, right by the floor to ceiling windows if you're lucky (which we were this time around yay!) and you will be greeted with the breathtaking view that is Bondi Beach and the turquoise ocean that changes to a tumultuous blue/gray when the clouds hide the sun. The view alone is worth it, the surfers an added bonus and it also helps that the food is light and fresh and really quite tasty. I recommend the fish of the day - today it was snapper, whole snapper grilled to moist, flaky perfection. It came with a little side salad of random greens and a hint of mint which brought the whole dish together quite well. The rest of the food was forgettable. Decent oysters, decent mussels, decent gnocchi. Skip the entrees and go straight for the main... although I hear the shrimp is quite good? The gentleman sitting at the table next to us was really going at it with his ribeye but you're by the water, I suggest the seafood, I really do. A must go for locals and tourists alike. Just remember to dress smart and book in advance.
