"Somewhere between Berlin and Rostock, in the middle of nowhere, you will find this small hotel on a secluded lake. The location is idyllic – the name of the road, Paradiesweg, is apt. But it's not just a cosy place to spend the night: food-wise you'll also get your money's worth. Raik Zeigner, head chef since 2005, bowls diners over with classic cuisine, which has always had a solid reputation. For his four-course set menu, which changes every evening, select ingredients are used. Take, for example, the steamed char or the saddle of venison with chanterelles. In this elegant restaurant with its country-house flair, your cordial hosts Petra and Adi König work with palpable enthusiasm to create a welcoming atmosphere. The owner – virtually a walking wine encyclopaedia – unfailingly recommends the perfect pairings. The next generation is also already getting involved in the running of this delightful family business." - Michelin Inspector

We stayed here for a night while doing a little road-trip through that region's lake district.||||This hotel has a charm all its own. Located in a very quiet side-street and right on the lake, we felt a strong sense of relaxation from the moment we parked, checked-in and moved to our lake-facing room.||||The initial vibe is very much one of a laid-back, beach-front property, and indeed they do have their own little beach. The water quality is very clear and appears pristine, the lake surely is a place to go for a nice swim particularly on hot days. Alternatively, there are plenty of bike paths and walkways around the lake and surrounding forest.||||In terms of hotel standard, the accomodation would be classed as 3-star. No, they do not have airco systems, mini-bars, a giant TV with hundreds of channels or in-room phones, but honestly none of those things seem really necessary and indeed would detract from the positioning of this property and the clientele and guest experience they aim for. Much better to simply sit outside on the lake-facing terrace, enjoy a nice glass of something, take in the view and enjoy the sound of silence. If you want to get away from the daily hustle bustle then this is a good place to come to, and the Germans have a great way that encapsulates this environment well. It is "entschleunigen" (taking speed out).||||Culinarily-speaking this place is top-notch, met our high expetations and deserves its Michelin star. We enjoyed a very nice 4-course dinner accompanied by well-chosen wines and also discovered a great gin as part of our pre-dinner cocktails. We also took breakfast the next morning outside and much appreciated the attention to detail the hotel puts into this, such as locally-made jam, a little cake baked just for you, eggs to order, fresh bread-rolls, fresh fruit salad etc. Simplicity at its best...and what else does (wo)man need.||||The only niggle we had is that WiFi did not work and cellular (mobile) phone data coverage is very slow in this neck of the woods. That was acceptable for the overnight stay, but would have become problematic surely as of day 2 had we stayed longer. Apparently, other guests also complained about this, and we hope the hotel gets this point fixed asap.||||Other then that this was a very enjoyable all-round experience for us, and we recommend this hotel and its kitchen particularly for romantic get-aways.||wifi

We've stayed at this lovely place before. It lies in the lake country north of Berlin -- an easy hour-and-a-half drive on the autobahn and country roads. It has the character of a bed-and-breakfast, yet the elegance and charm of a country inn. The small number of rooms are all on ground level, either facing the lake or the woods, and are best described as reminiscent of Adirondacks summers -- screened porches with wicker and chintz-covered seating open to an ivy-covered walkway running the length of the guestroom area. We've only stayed in lakeview rooms and they are delightfully quiet and intimate. Though one can nearly see and hear one's neighbors on the screened terraces, it's a low murmur and hardly noticeable. The lake is a simple 100 pace walk from one's terrace. It's breezy, clean, very swimmable and there's not a powerboat in sight. Now to the restaurant. It is a gem. Located within the same building as the guestrooms, it is airy, furnished simply and elegantly. The menu features local fish specialities, delicate sauces, in particular, served with great attentiveness. The wine card is the total surprise -- it warrants Berlin high cuisine. Breakfasts are ample, fresh with seasonal fruits. This is a terrific place for a superb meal, a grand view over the water, a quick sail before dinner and a lazy morning before a swim. Ideal for weekends.

This time we booked the small cottage, the hotel has 10 rooms and an independent cottage on the big compound direct on the lake. It was the right decision. We enjoyed a very spacious, for two people, house clean, quite and just perfect. In the Morning we had great breakfast, with Vegan selection and very nice service provided by the owners. We enjoyed the huge garden or park and a swim in the lake. A grate place to stay, also enjoy the one star Michelin restaurant.

We spent 2 and a half day at this small hotel. Room and sanitary was very clean and set up in land house style. The view from our room over the adjacent park and lake was breathtaking. Meals were very good and tasty as was the choice of wines. If you don't like the accompanying wine, selection Mr. König will adjust for another choice. All service and Mrs König accommodate for every wish and notion in a very nice and subtle way. This was a perfect hideaway to destress, being in nature, doing long walks around the lake.

A charming, welcoming, small boutique hotel on a small lake in a quiet corner of eastern Germany in rolling wooded countryside perfect for hiking, boating and relaxing. With a Michelin star which is well deserved the kitchen is outstanding. The wine list is superb and a wonderful read - their collection is incomparable from the simplest local wines to some of the best historic vintages of French premier cru wines. The hosts are welcoming, accommodating and delightful. We speak good German so did so and therefore cannot comment on their English, but we assume that English speakers would be as comfortable as we were. The rooms are wonderful - they have a real lakeside feel. Those facing the lake (one of which we had for two nights) have a comfortable double bedroom opening into a sitting room with wicker furniture (see our photos) and then further onto a small sitting veranda. The overwhelming feeling is of peace and of unspoiled nature. If it weren't so far from the UK we would spend several weekends a year in this charming place. Highly recommended!

This review was written by Jonathan Hill, USA This intimate restaurant and hotel is a hidden jewel, to which I was fortunately introduced by a friend on a recent trip to northern Germany. He had been many times before. I shall go again whenever I’m back in the country. As its name indicated, it is on a lake, its setting one of complete tranquility, broken only bird song and the occasional splash of a fish in the water. The rooms are perfectly furnished and stylish. The bow-fronted dining room looks out across the grass to the lake, each table having its own window and view. The decor is light, the atmosphere soft, the furnishings subtle and playful, an unobtrusive display of the owners’ refined and creative tastes. Each evening the restaurant offers a fixed four-course menu (thus saving diners the anxiety of choice) with the option of carefully selected, accompanying wines . The food I had was superlative (this is one of those rare Michelin starred restaurant) in creativity, ingredients, preparation and presentation. Whether it was venison in filo pastry, turbot on mountain lentils, or, in a crescendo of tenderness, three cuts of lamb from Lake Müritz, each course seemed to top its predecessor. The wines were bright and subtle in flavors, colors and contrasts. The service was so unobtrusive, the pace so relaxed, that the meal seemed to appear of its own accord. Dessert came with a Vermouth La Copa, which balanced two sherries like voices in a choir. If you stay overnight you have the added pleasure of breakfast, a quietly lavish spread of breads, cheeses, meats and fruits, gleaming jewel-like in the morning sun.

If you do not know about it, you will not find find it!||We went there with our friends for dinner on a fine summer evening and can thoroughly recommend this fine family- owned restaurant (it is also a hotel, but we did not stay overnight).||Firstly, we had drinks at the lake followed by a seven course gourmet menu with matching wines. This is by far the best restaurant in Mecklenburg- Pommerania I have been to to date!||The quality of the food was excellent. My friend did not particularly enjoy one red wine and this was promptly and effortlessly dealt with by the friendly and knowledgable staff.||We will be back!
