Everything TikTok Restaurant Reviewer Keith Lee Ate in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Participated in the teriyaki chicken taste-test and tied for the top spot with Toshi’s; Lee noted that Ichi would have won outright "if they had rinsed the rice so it was less starchy," per Lee." - Courtney E. Smith

We've been here a handful of times. Either calling to pickup or ordering togo in person. Service is always good and our orders accurate. Food is tasty and portions seem huge. Worth every penny! They share a lot, but there's plenty of parking. Inside there are only 3 booths to fit 4 people +a larger table in the center of the space that could maybe hold 4-6.

Came back to the area for an appointment and had to stop by Ichi Bento—it’s been forever! I ordered the Tempura Udon (with green onions on the side) and it was just as delicious as I remember. My husband got the Chicken Teriyaki with fried rice, and my step-daughter had one of the bentos (not pictured). Both of them were super happy with their meals. I’m not sure exactly when they opened, but my family and I used to order from here all the time when I was in middle and high school—so it’s been at least 20 years. It makes me so happy to see that they’re still around and still making great food. Love that my own kids now get to enjoy a place that was such a big part of my childhood. Small businesses like this are treasures. ❤️

Google
Tried Ichi Bento for the first time this weekend and I will be adding it to my go to list! Definition of top-tier, classic Seattle teriyaki. So comforting! Chicken teriyaki was flavorful and moist, tempura was crisp, miso soup was perfect. No notes.

Google
Best bang for your buck teriyaki in the Seattle area. $15.99 for a chicken teriyaki bento box with rice, 4 piece California roll, 7 piece gyoza, salad, and miso soup. Great chicken katsu as well.

Google
Every time we go to Ichi Bento, we always notice how nice and welcoming the staff is. The bentos are such a good deal, you get a lot of tasty food for the price. It’s one of our go-to spots, especially since it’s hard to find affordable, delicious eats in Seattle.

Google
Flavor was great but less one star because the yakisoba was mostly noodles. There is a good amount of vegetables but the amount of chicken was just OK. Best to order this and a teriyaki meal and spit it with someone to get enough meat for a meal.

Google
Multi generational spot that has only gotten better with time :) lowkey clean interior with outdoor umbrellas and seating. Super accessible.

My former teacher friend and I decided to meet up, and I found a nearby Japanese restaurant. When we arrived, we noticed that the place was small, but there was a lot of activity with customers dining in and deliveries going out! It got me really excited to try everything on the menu. I ended up choosing the bento box, which included chicken katsu, salad, prawn, California roll, and soup. It was not only delicious but also quite affordable! My friend opted for the spicy chicken dish. The only downside was that they served the food in styrofoam containers instead of pretty utensils.

Yelp
I ordered the Chicken Breast and was surprised with how good this dish was. The flavor was a little on the heavy side but I appreciated how large the portion was! I couldn't finish it but am looking forward to eating my leftovers tomorrow. I definitely would come back and support small business!

Yelp
I'm fairly picky about Teriyaki, and my list of reliable places had been whittled down to just one for a decade. However, I finally managed to stop in at Ichi Bento, and am happy to report I can now add it to my list! My typical order is a Spicy Chicken & Gyoza combo. While I felt the "spicy" could have been a bit more incorporated into the marinade/sauce instead of sitting on top of the chicken, I did really appreciate the char on the chicken. The portion was also very generous, and although the salad was mostly iceberg, that along with the dressing was still enjoyable! The gyoza is almost all for texture for me personally--I know it's almost never homemade and is just industrially produced, so it's a universal non-factor, but still appreciated. What really stood out though, is the Chicken Yakisoba. Is it the most authentic? Certainly not, but it really was the exact flavor I personally was seeking in a Chicken Yakisoba from a Teriyaki place. Delicious, and again, a very generous portion with deliciously charred chicken. I'll be back!

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TOP TIER TERIYAKI in Seattle. FOR THE PRICE AND PORTION = SO WORTH IT. i crave their teriyaki everyday and i have to show restraint to not go weekly. the chicken has great char, flavor and tenderness. and the katsu is super crispy while have such great flavor as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Yelp
I have been desperately searching for a teriyaki place that has GOOD tofu for over a year now. All of the places I've gone to serve raw tofu or it doesn't come with veggies. Ichi Bento came on my TikTok FYP, so I looked up their menu and was pleased to see that they not only had one tofu option, but several! I went the next day for takeout and service was extremely friendly. My partner got spicy chicken and I got the tofu stir fry since it included veggies. We both really enjoyed our meals and would definitely go again. I only took off one star because my partner said the spicy chicken was mild (maybe we can ask for more spice next time), and in my opinion, the tofu stir fry did have a LOT of cabbage compared to the other veggies. I would love to see them add mushrooms, bean sprouts, etc to this dish instead of the cabbage. I will be back regardless!

Yelp
Swung by Ichi Bento for an easy dinner as a walk-in takeout order. I love that it's close to the Shoreline South station so you can drop by quickly. Decided I should stick with the regular chicken teriyaki bento. I was told 15 minutes, but it came out faster than that. They take a lot of phone orders and are busy prepping other meals so no surprise everyone is kind of multi-tasking, but in no way did I feel ignored so that was good. The portion size is pretty generous. I think if I wasn't so hungry I could have easily split this with my wife. Chicken teriyaki flavor seemed on point although full disclosure it's been a while since I've ate these kind of meals. The bento came with extra teriyaki sauce which I thought was unnecessary given it's already really savory and sweet. The California roll is pretty good. Salad dressing is kinda sweet. Also feel like the tempura could have came with more sauce. Overall though, it's a big meal for what is normal price for food now I feel. While I didn't think the food was super delicious or amazing in anyway, the bento has real good value and if I'm needing a quick meal to really fill me up Ichi would be a good consideration.

Yelp
Mushy chicken. Had a weird texture. A ton of rice, way too much. Salad was good. The teriyaki sauce is thick and gloppy and the flavor was off compared to other places. And last but not least, taking the third star off because of their lousy health inspection report. Second from the worst rating. If you don't care about me then I don't care about you. It's not hard to get a good rating or a great rating, you just have to care. I won't be back.

Yelp
I had takeout eons ago preYelp from Ichi Bento. For some reason I was craving a bento box for lunch. Time for a revisit to Ichi Bento in Shoreline's North City neighborhood (7/25/24). Counter person was rather focused on refilling the various sauces in small containers at an adjacent counter. She seemed slightly annoyed to break that focus when she realized I was ready to order. Definitely all business taking my order, fielding calls for takeout, and getting orders put together. Just an observation while I was onsite. I placed an order for a bento with chicken teriyaki and steamed rice. This comes also with salad, miso soup, 4 pieces of CA roll, and given the choice of gyoza or tempura. I chose the latter. I stuck with chilled water from a dispenser unit by the entrance. Shortly thereafter, I was provided with a plastic clamshell container with pale salad with another tiny container with sweet poppy dressing. Another plastic container had miso soup. I consumed both - serviceable. Another container had the tempura and dipping sauce. I did eat most of the tempura of green beans, shrimp, and potato. Saved the onion ring though. Coarse breading, not the traditional light fried batter coating associated with tempura. Next container had a generous amount of steamed rice topped with thinly sliced, grilled teriyaki beef and another tiny container with presumably more teriyaki sauce. I ate the 4 pieces of CA roll, no soy sauce and pickled ginger provided. Just too bad it was teriyaki beef, not chicken that I originally ordered. I was too full anyways, so took the rest home. Normally, I'd be a bit more assertive, but needed to get back to work. There was only another pair that dined onsite, aside from me. Rest of the folks showing up were picking up takeout. As an fyi, there is onsite seating, as well as, some outdoor seating. I tried to eat the teriyaki beef and rice a few days later...not a smart idea. The protein had a burnt after taste, sauce too sweet, and rice was tough despite the refresh with a sprinkle of water prior to microwaving. I ended up composting most with the tempura onion ring. There was no actual bento box, especially while dining onsite. So much discarded plastic, not much recycling or composting observed after busing my own table. For a lunch that was over $20 with tax and tip, with incorrect, burnt tasting protein, ended composting half.... it was just okay, felt underwhelmed, and disappointed.

Yelp
This is now my go to local teriyaki place. Food: their food is really delicious and especially for the value. I usually get the bento box because the value is best here. I choose to get the tempura combo and since you get shrimp and vegetables with the tempura, it really is a fantastic deal. For the teriyaki, I recommend chicken teriyaki because I didn't actually care that much for the beef, but that could just be me. I've also had their Mongolian beef and that was really good as well. In general sushi and miso soup and gyoza and tempura are all solid choices. Service and ambience: their service is always fast and friendly. They do have some tables to sit so you can eat in, but I noticed that most people order to go. Even if you order to eat in, you will get your order in to go boxes so you can pack it up to take home your leftovers. Everything is plastic and Styrofoam, which is not great for the environment, but that's probably how they keep prices low.

Yelp
My favorite spot for an affordable bento box! I like the katsu chicken or chicken teriyaki bento which comes with a good portion of meat, rice, 4 pieces of California roll, your choice of tempura or gyoza, salad and miso soup for $16. Most teriyaki spots charge that much or more for just the entree so it's such a good deal in my opinion! I love the breading on the katsu, it's always nice and crispy. Minor things, but I love the sweet salad dressing and tempura sauce too haha. Service is always super nice and quick!

Yelp
Food is incredible! Perfect char on teryaki, amazing crisp on katsu. katsu sauce is sooo yum. For 15.99 with the Bento Box you get chicken teriyaki (or katsu) + 4 California roll pieces + 7 gyoza + rice + salad + miso soup. You literally CANNOT beat that deal within 30 mins of Seattle. Inside is very down-home neighborhood feel and staff is super nice. I've gone back twice in 2 weeks.

Yelp
Everyone who works here has always been so nice to me , especially the lovely young lady who gave me extra salad dressing when I said I loved it. Been coming here since I was a kid and don't plan on stopping. Also prices are fantastic

Yelp
Was busy day for a take out order. Used to get food from here and always leave with happy tummy until today. Ordered 5 meals to go. 2 of the miso were missing which is one of my fav side for teriyaki. And food did not taste that good. Mongolian beef and chicken teriyaki sauce literally tasted the same. Yakisoba noodle did not seem to cooked fully. It was chewy. Fried tofu had so much flour. I dont know all this was busy day or owner has changed.

Yelp
I am a new returning customer, different chef and cashier. All that i order was correct and fresh and delicious. Plenty free parking available. I called in my order and was good to go, when i drove 9 minutes. Thank you for my great lunch .

Yelp
Ichi Bento has great katsu, teriyaki and tempura. Their bento box is a great value. My family and I particularly like their teriyaki beef with fried rice and their chicken katsu bento box with tempura.

Yelp
I had the beef teriyaki to go. The food was great. While I was waiting the restaurant seemed welcoming and clean. No complaints here.

Willem J.

Yelp
This has become my favorite teriyaki spot. The food is always hot and delicious, the service is always very quick and friendly and I've not been let down in any way. Only quibble is the parking lot/entrance, but there's not a whole lot they can do about that. Just be careful getting in and out when you come visit them.

Yelp
The owners are incredibly nice. Service is really fast and portions are great. I go here weekly.

Rachel M.

Yelp
This place is so cute & welcoming. I went on a whim to have a family lunch & everything was delicious. The bento box meals are huge & we took enough home to have dinner also. I think the potstickers might be handmade because they were so juicy & even the ubiquitous California rolls tasted fresh and unique.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty solid teriyaki spot in N Seattle. I ordered the spicy chicken bento box (spicy chicken over rice, 4 piece California rolls, salad, miso soup, 6 pieces of tempura) and it was pretty solid. My total was ~$19 with a can of Diet Coke. My only grievance was they barely gave me any tempura sauce but I'll survive (: Will definitely be back when craving teriyaki! They are also next door to a brewery - which is too, pretty solid!
google avatar

Yelp
I had a few take-outs from this Mom-and-Pop shop, the portion is always so generous. Teriyaki chicken is tasty & juicy, fried rice is not greasy at all. Yes, maybe they are not the most authentic Teriyaki and attendant are busy multitasking/doing other stuff in between orders but my order always came out quick & delicious. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Jackie E.

Yelp
They share a lot (behind the building) with the restaurant next door, but each have their own designated spots. Service was friendly and prompt. If you order in (I ordered take-out, but noticed) they bring your food items to your table. There are only 3 booths to fit 4 people + a larger table in the center of the space that could maybe hold 4-6. There is a picnic table right outside if you want to do that as well. We ordered a chicken bento with tempura and a tofu bento with vegetable tempura. (Totalling $33 & change.) Everything looked and tasted delicious! It was a lot of food. Definitely worth it!

Yelp
For an inexpensive meal, this is a good place. I was attracted to this place, by he large number of construction workers eating outside at their picnic tables. Construction workers seems to know good places to eat. For me, I always get the bento box when I order. This includes miso soup, sushi, salad, egg roll and your choice of teriyaki meat with rice. A substantial serving for under 20.00. I can recommend the short rib bento box, the prawn and the chicken bento boxes. All are good and you are guaranteed to be full after your meal. There is a hard working husband and wife team, who often are constantly answering the phone and dealing with pick up orders. The miso soup could be better, but the whole combination of what you get is great. Salad has a nice ginger dressing. Eggroll/ Shrimp is good, you can also get half and half of each. Sushi roll is nice, with avocado. Generous portions of chicken, short ribs and prawns on a skewer. Not a big fan of their rice, but the teriyaki sauce that comes with the food is delicious. Seems to be mostly a takeout place, but they do have four tables for eating in. Your food will come entirely in takeout boxes, even if you order in like I do. A dependable place for good teriyaki.

B S.

Yelp
Food is always amazingggg here. Their teriyaki plate is to die for. Their spicy teriyaki has a pretty good kick but doing half plate of katsu really balances it out. Definitely a place to check out and to support a local business. Ambience is warm and cozy. Service is always great, they're a super sweet business. I would 10/10 recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent parking was available when we arrived on a Saturday for lunch. Got two plates that both came with plenty of white rice (more than other places!), a small container of a thicker sauce to put on the meat, and a simple mostly iceberg salad with dressing on the side. Spicy chicken teriyaki- pretty good, nice & juicy strips of chicken covered in red sauce. I added the thick sauce on the side to balance out for added sweetness. Beef teriyaki- nice char on thin cuts of beef! Great texture and the sauce on the beef was perfect, didn't need the extra thicker sauce on the side. I just wish there was a bit more beef... since the cuts were thin it disappeared quickly. Compared to other places, the price was good, love that the beef was charred instead of just soft & fried, the taste for both meats was good but not my favorite... but it's up there. I'd like to come back to try other dishes like yakisoba and tempura.

Yelp
Consistently good teriyaki. Neighborhood staple for decades. Daughter likes the chicken katsu. Can dine in, or take next door to Monkas for dinner and beer.

Yelp
They have Amazing Tofu tempura! Very nice and crispy. 5 stars! I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Decided to step in and try the spot that has been around what seems like forever. Read some of the reviews saw the pictures of their spicy chicken and that is what I ordered. The food came out super quick around five minutes...granted it was 11 AM. The portion was huge and they did not skimp on the sauce whatsoever. The taste is fantastic. The chicken tastes fresh. What I like is they pour the meat and sauce over the top of the bed of sticky rice.
google avatar

Mateo G.

Yelp
Kinda over due as many of these reviews are, but I wanted to take some time to share the great experience I had at this spot. The food looked pretty good so I stopped by, and I felt like trying something for that I normally wouldn't get even though everything looked tasty. I saw they had yakisoba, which I have had, but only via making it from the instapacks, but I always have to dim down the amount of the powder seasoning given because it becomes really strongly flavored. Not sure why that is, but due to that, I always wanted to have an opportunity to tryout a restaurant version to see if it is supposed to be that saucy. So there I was, and I was pretty excited to try this out so I went in and I looked at the menu and I thought I understood it and found the stirfry section so I saw my options briefly and decided to try the shrimp stirfry thinking it was yakisoba. So I ordered it and I was pretty excited and it seemed to be a reasonable price (12.99) so I waited for my food and it quickly was ready so I brought it to the car to try it out. I went ahead and opened the box and it looked okay, but I noticed that there were barely any noodles, so I was kinda sad, but then I kept digging and I couldn't find one noodle. At this point I was kinda like shocked. I thought these dudes thought I was gonna take this home to go and get home to find out and be too lazy to drive back and just eat my saucy rice with tons do cabbage and a few shrimps, but luckily I looked inside. So yeah, I wasn't heated, I was kinda like this is weird, I'll figure it out. So I went in and the two people there were talking and I interrupted them, kinda rude, my bad guys. And they were like yes, how can we help, and I was like well, I wanted to try yakisoba for the first time but I think you guys forgot to put the noodles? Is there anyway you can add the noodles, and I was a lil annoyed tbh and they were like um sorry sir, but I thought you ordered the stirfry, and I was like yeah, I did, is that different from the yakisoba? I thought yakisoba was stirfried and they were like oh yakisoba is the item under and I was like darn, I wanted to try the yakisoba, and they were like we got you, we can make the yakisoba rn, and I was like alright I don't mind paying for it. I kinda just wanted yakisoba and they were like no don't worry about it, and you can take the stirfry and I was just like damn dude, y'all are something else. And idk it was just cool for them to do that. The portions were big. The rice was great and the yakisoba was good. I'm really glad I went there and tbh I would love to return and try the other stuff. The katsu looks really good. So yeah, I will be back

Madeleyne D.

Yelp
I love this place, it's so cozy and their miso is amazing. Best thing for a sore throat. The workers are so incredibly kind and they truly know what good service is all about!
google avatar

Angela Y.

Yelp
Love this place and it's easily become one of my favorites! First off, everyone here is so kind and thoughtful. My go-to is either the chicken teriyaki or chicken katsu bento. You get a lot of food for a good price. I've only gotten take-out and they're so considerate when packaging your food. The katsu always stays crispy since they take the time to cut holes in their to-go boxes for ventilation so the food doesn't get soggy. The restaurant itself is fairly small so I prefer to call ahead for take-out. And I definitely recommend calling ahead since they do get fairly busy and rightfully so! Ichi Bento really is a hidden gem and a must try!
google avatar

Rose C.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood teriyaki joint. Food is consistently good and tasty. Their bentos offer HUGE portions. Price is reasonable for the amount of food they offer. I think they make the best beef yakisoba. Deliciousness
google avatar

Tammy J.

Yelp
Got the teriyaki chicken to go. It was ready in minutes! The portion was huge, chicken was yummy!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
This is our favorite teriyaki joint in the north Seattle/Shoreline area. They check all the boxes! Friendly, consistent, clean, and a decent price point! Their portions are great and we have no issues feeding our family of 6 with leftovers and not breaking the bank and we love the variety of food offered in the meals. I like the fried rice and tempura, my sushi loving 8 year old is happy to get some sushi with teriyaki, and my husband loves that the teriyaki chicken is not drowning in sauce and has a nice char flavor (honestly probably my favorite part too!). We consistently eat here and drive a little farther past many other teriyaki places to get here. We are always greeted with a friendly smile and helpful staff too!
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
They HAD to have gone under new ownership recently because they're even better than they used to be a decade ago. We stopped going here because the quality went down but I'm SO glad took a chance and started coming back because they're amazing again. Friendly service, the food is delicious and comes with really solid portions for the price, and an overall awesome experience each time we've gone recently!
google avatar

Max W.

Yelp
Can't say anything bad about this place -- a true neighborhood teriyaki spot. Portions are generous. Prices are around $12-13 per plate. There are a few booths to order in but I usually get it to go. A great staple of the shoreline area!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Wow just wow. This was the first time trying this place and I was blown away by the portion sizes! I ordered the chicken katsu bento box which came with salad, miso soup, 4 pieces of a California roll, huge chicken cutlets, rice and you can choose between vegetable tempura or gyoza (I chose the vegetable tempura). The chicken was so tender and flavorful - it really was so well made. Salad with the dressing sauce was delicious and tasted light. I love how the vegetable tempura and kaarage weren't oily at all! Nothing tasted greasy. The miso soup was good too. I think the only thing that I didn't care much for was the California rolls, mainly because everything else tasted so good and that was just an extra appetizer. The portion size was so big that I was able to bring home half of it as leftovers. Highly recommend checking this place out. Their service is quick, the food is delicious. I can't wait to go back and bring my friends here!
google avatar

Alicia D.

Yelp
Best food around town! We have had tasty chicken teriyaki, chicken yakisoba, sushi & bento boxes! They really make good quality food! The owners, son & chefs are so polite & friendly! I highly recommend Ichi Bento!
google avatar

Mika K.

Yelp
The chicken katsu is fantastic and service polite and quick. When I get sick, I often send my husband to pick up their miso. Yum!
google avatar

Ellie G.

Yelp
Great, friendly service. Great amount of food for your money and great quality for a local teriyaki joint. Definitely more of a To-Go feeling rather than an eat-in place. They do have a few tables and chairs available! Menu posted, as of 2/2023!

M M.

Yelp
Our favorite family take-out spot, everything is good and the people are nice. Family owned.

Yelp
When my Seattle-native partner found out I'd never had classic roadside teriyaki before, she hustled me into the car and brought me here. There's a parallel I feel between this place and the strip mall pizza of my South Jersey youth, which is to say, I love it, I love the people who run it, and I love the generous tofu teriyaki box that comes with a lil side salad. Thanks Ichi Bento, you make me feel at home.

Andy Z.

Yelp
This place has an amazing quantity and quality of food for the price. Their yakisoba is high quality but it is too sweet for me, their fried rice isn't sweet however and it is perfect for me, and its crispy and everything I wanted in fried rice (well maybe the beef isn't the highest of quality but for this price point I think it is amazing). The chicken katsu breading is a little plain for me but it still tastes really good. I would recommend to get the tempura as the option for the side for the bento. It comes with many unique tasty things.

Steffanie H.

Yelp
I've been going here for years and it's always been great! Delicious teriyaki and generous portions!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Definitely have been ordering from here at least once a week

Clash G.

Yelp
Omg. THIS is the best teriyaki place ever. AND the people that work here are so sweet! Can't go wrong with the spicy chicken bento box with the tempura vegetables! Yummmmmmm!

Yelp
Food is good bit watch out how they charge you. They double the tax on my meal so be aware.

Yelp
Our family loves the food from Ichi Bento. A few years back it became part of our Christmas Eve ritual and we stop in on occassion for our favorites - Chicken Katsu and Yakisoba. The owners are very friendly too!
