Our dinner at ICHI was an unforgettable experience. It was a unique opportunity to learn about Japanese food culture, culinary philosophy and hospitality. We were treated with great attention in a remarkably tranquil, almost meditative atmosphere. We are truly grateful to our waitress, Miyuko, who guided us through the entire meal, commenting on the ingredients and suggesting wine and sake pairings for each dish. Her recommendations were spot on! It was a particular pleasure to watch Chef Tanaka and his sous-chef at work in the kitchen - with remarkable dedication and artistic grace.
Every dish from the 5-course menu we sampled was phenomenal - full of flavour, texture and colour. Each sip of sake and wine enhanced the flavour and refreshed the mouth for the next bite. We were surprised to discover how well some German and French wines actually go with Japanese dishes! The highlight of the evening - small bites of heavenly-tender wagyu beef.
All in all, ICHI is a truly exceptional place for a special occasion - a place to stop the flow of time, to savour every moment, to pay attention to details, words, experiences.
