Tiny, much‑loved counter spot where ramen shares space with Chinese dishes like Szechuan beef and fried rice. Spotlighted by Eat Out Amarillo and frequently praised by local critics for soulful bowls and a loyal following.

One of the best ramen I've ever had, it was delicious. Service was wonderful also. Nice and cozy place really a hidden gem in Amarillo. Will definitely make this a frequent spot. Spicy miso was just spicy enough as they had it marked. Highly recommend it.

Google
Yummmm great place. Not a lot of seating but the food atmosphere and service were incredible

Google
My son had a craving for ramen.. so we went to Ichiban.. he wasn't disappointed (it was just a little spicy for his taste buds) 😋 the cashew chicken was delicious.. the potstickers were delicious! This just hit the spot! We'll come back soon!

Small setting with a cramped and surprisingly comfortable feel. Very reasonably priced. We ordered 2 spicy miso ramen (mine extra spicy) and a pad see ew. Once I recieved my food I was in my own world. The pork was tender and flavorful,my shrimp were slightly overcooked, the egg cooked perfectly, lots of noodles, the broth was bursting with miso flavor and I was in heaven, all I needed was extra napkins for my nose and I was good to go. Keep in mind there are two cooks so wait time was long. I sat at the bar watching them create culinary perfection in a bowl so I was pretty entertained. Food is made to order so expect call in orders to be made by the same hard working cooks as well. If you come super hungry perhaps an appetizer would help. Service was decent. She forgot about us a few times but was quick to correct herself without being asked again and that is always ok with us.

Google
The food here is amazing!! Super fresh and filling! Be prepared for a wait as everything is made fresh to order it seems! And the environment of the restaurant is very jam packed.. but it's so worth it!!!!!

Google
Service was okay, food was Great! Prices are high we paid $35 for 2 people but totally worth it. I suggest give this place a try.

Google
My family and I love this place. Ichiban Ramen is my favorite. Even if I have to wait a while to be seated, it’s so worth it!

Google
Awesome service great atmosphere, food came out fast & was very tasty! Space was a little small but for a quick bite to eat can't complain. I will be going back soon. 🤗🤗🤗

Yelp
Used to come here all the time when I lived in Amarillo and everytime I would visit. Haven't been in over 3 years. Was craving it so bad. In town for a wedding and knew I had to come a day early so I could go here. I'm sad because I wanted to order everything but could only order a few things. I decided to go with one of my favorites, gyoza and spicy garlic basil fried rice. Literally wanted ramen and rice but maybe I'll come back next month for the ramen ;( Literally the service is still excellent. Restaurant is always clean! They are all always so nice and friendly and fast! Food was a 10/10 literally. Just as good as always. I truly wish I could take this place back to Dallas with me. The gyoza was delicious and perfectly crisp! The fried rice was so flavorful. Plenty meat and a hint of spice! I can literally not find ANY place in Dallas that has rice this good or ramen this good and I've tried several! Shoutout to Ichiban for making my quick Amarillo visit worth it ! Can't wait to come back again. I do wish they were open on the weekends of course so I could go again while I'm here but maybe just maybe one day they'll change their hours to at least half a day Saturday ;)

Yelp
Very friendly service and amazing food. This is the best ramen in Amarillo!! So much flavor in their broth and so spicy!!

Francisco G.

Yelp
The ramen was probably the best ramen we've ever tried in our life . We have had ramen from a few states and this ramen beats them all the broth is just full of flavor the service was great as well and the spicy edamame was delicious! Thanks to ougt not sure if I spelled the name right but he is the owner/cook and truly takes his time to make everything perfect!! This will Be our go to spot for ramen oh and for the garlic fried rice that is top notch as well !! As I am typing this my mouth is watering thinking of the food I just had

Yelp
Ichiban is one of our favorite places to eat at! Their Thai Beef Noodle ramen is my go to year round!

Yelp
Amarillo local gem! Delicious ramen - order ahead and pickup if you need to save time.

Yelp
Amazing ramen . Definitely worth the wait each time . They spicy miso ramen is my favorite

Khyla K.

Yelp
We went there yesterday 1/18/24. We got there at 5:22 seated and all got our drinks. We waited a whole hour, for friend rice and the ichiban noodles. We literally got up to pay for our drinks and that's when she went and asked when ours would be ready, she said "sorry we where doing the take out orders". Multiple people where waiting and the people before us just asked for to go boxes. So basically just order take out. They girl was very nice and we still left a tip.

Neil W.

Yelp
Really amazing food. The Ichiban Ramen has some of the most delicious broth I've ever tried. Great service and prices too.
google avatar

Brianna P.

Yelp
Waitstaff is very kind, I think they make everything fresh to order, so a small wait on food, but totally worth it!! If you're skeptical about Curry, try this one!! It is DELICIOUS! I stay craving the Green Curry now! The Spicy Abura Ramen is SO flavorful and delicious!! Tough tie between the two, but excited to try more from here!! We also had the Spicy Edamame and Gyoza to start! Sooo delicious, and pretty big gyoza!! Must Try!!

Jon V.

Yelp
Not worth it. Don't answer, runs out early, takes forever to cook, doesn't care about what they say. Horrible time... if you have 4 hours to kill this is the place for you
google avatar

Alice P.

Yelp
Definitely one the best places to eat ramen here in Amarillo. It's reminds me of downtown LA ramen back home . The spicy miso is soooooo goood . Highly recommend and worth the wait
google avatar

D S.

Yelp
We've heard the food is good. Front of the house service not customer service oriented or interested. Twice decided not to order after talking with staff about an order. Dismissive and self important attitudes.
google avatar

Damian W.

Yelp
GPS from yelp will take you pass the restaurant! Service was great. But the hours is so weird. 6 hours a day and 5 days a week. Atmosphere a bit dark. Food was ok. Order the thai beef noodle soup. Is more like PHO. The broth a bit sweet. If i knew it was pho noodle then I would of ask for ramen noodle instead. The beef have no flavor cause it was not marinated and cut in pieces then put it in soup so a bit hard to chew. If you are craving for some asian noodle soup this probably the only place in town for it that is semi authentic.
google avatar

Claire Y.

Yelp
Ichiban is one of our favorite places to eat in Amarillo. Great food and personal service, but you need to get in early to make sure you have a spot.
google avatar

Elvira B.

Yelp
Closed, Out of food sign. Really how do you run out of food for every entrée that you sell? This place is about as dependable as it nocturnal emmi.
google avatar

MaryLou D.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and both times it was a great experience. The food was delicious. It does take a little longer to arrive then some places but that's because they make it to order. When the food is so good I eat it all and don't have any leftovers I know it's delicious. Usually I'm able to eat half and take half home for the next day. I leave here happy and satisfied that I've had a good healthy meal for a very reasonable price. I hope to get back again before I leave town. The server, by the way, couldn't be more cheerful and helpful. She really works hard. I can't imagine how many miles a day she walks going back and forth from the kitchen to tables and the cash register. I think I burned some calories just watching her!

Yelp
I ordered the katsu curry. As a fan of Terrace House and Jun's Kitchen (on Youtube), I was excited to see this made here in Amarillo. Unfortunately, what I got was about 4-5 oz. of fried pork filet swimming and soggy beneath a layer of curry. Why put fried food under curry? If you don't do that, I can dip it in right before I eat it and it will stay crunchy! The curry itself tasted good, but there was no spice to it. The only vegetables were a few carrots and chives. Further, on the phone they offered the choice of steamed or fried rice. I know the dish is great with normal steamed rice, but I thought I'd take advantage of the option to see how good they are at making fried rice. I was extremely disappointed as it had no egg, tasted like oil instead of butter, and had no vegetables (even no onions!) and no spices (even no soy sauce!) The food I see in people's pictures looks great. Maybe they hate take-aways or maybe they're struggling due to COVID and lost pride in their product. Plus, it was such a poor value as I paid $12 (take-out - so no delivery fee, this is what the food cost) and got maybe $3.50 worth of food if I had prepared it myself. Increase the meat portion by 50%, add some steamed veggies, and take some pride in your curry and fried rice and the food cost would only go up to about $5 - but I'd come back because I would enjoy my experience. Quality brings people back. As it stands, I might come back just once more to try the ramen. Maybe they just hate curry.

Cade C.

Yelp
Best ramen and rice dishes in town! If you need some recommendations, try the Ischiban Ramen, Spicy Abura Ramen, or the Kung Pow Chicken! They have a good customer service, but all food is made fresh by two chefs one plate at a time. This means that, at times, the wait can be up to 45 minutes to an hour to get your food after ordering (so maybe consider an egg roll or gyoza while you wait). It's absolutely worth it, just plan a bit ahead or call in order and take it to go.

Michael N.

Yelp
the most aunthentic ramen in town !! hands down also the spicy miso ramen amd fried gioza are yhr best
google avatar

Yara H.

Yelp
Excellent food and customer service! They never disappoint! Be sure you order early, because they always fill up until they close. My favorite thing is the Thai Beef noodle soup. It has sprouts which I love and the beef portion is generous- it always is enough for 2 meals. Ichiban is a true GEM in Amarillo!!!

Jayce H.

Yelp
Favorite food in Amarillo. Go to is the Spicy Aburra Ramen. Tried nearly everything they have to offer and haven't been disappointed once. If you haven't, give it a try!
google avatar

Destini H.

Yelp
Ichiban lives up to its name- "number one." The BEST ramen in Amarillo. Kind people and great service. One of my favorites!

Mom T.

Yelp
The best Asian food in Amarillo! They have the best soups as well as noodle dishes. Spicy edamame and egg rolls are my favorite appetizers. Place is very small and doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's worth going in!
google avatar

Harley H.

Yelp
Writing this in hopes of saving someone else the time that I unfortunately wasted. I need to be clear... They are take out ONLY. I did my due diligence, i read the reviews, and we came to the conclusion that we wanted to eat here. We walk up, happy as can be and ready to eat, only for the sign to be very clearly posted on the door. I still plan on eating here, I am just not interested in having the hot food sit in a styrofoam container for 30 minutes as I drive home and prep the table for dinner. Will update my review when they allow sit down diners.

Yelp
Classic ramen restaurant! I love the compactness of the restaurant to give it the true Japanese ramen restaurant vibe. But they also have other food besides ramen so don't worry! The workers here are super nice so I'd come back just for that I got the spicy miso ramen, and for someone who has a very small spicy tolerance it was tolerable! I definitely struggled a little, but with a bit of mental strength, I pushed passed it. So give it a try if you too aren't good with spicy. I got the spicy miso ramen because they said it was one of their popular items, not because I like torturing my tongue and belly. The broth was really good, but the noodles aren't my favorite. A bit too thick, but not a deal breaker. I agree with most of the review on the hours and how they don't open for a long time, but that must mean it's THAT good right? ;) the place is also small so make sure you aren't in too big of a rush when you decide to give this a try. We came in on a Tuesday afternoon and it was full, so just beware!

Yelp
This place is the worst place for customer service wise. The owner closes and opens restaurant based on his convenience. So there were lots of incidence when I went to the place and it was closed even during weekday and regular business hours. Even today, I attempted to call to this place to check if it is open, but nobody ever picked up the phone so I have decided to visit since there was still time before closing out. When I arrived around 7:20 pm but the owner kicked me out stating the food sold out. If that is the case, at least try to pick up the phone so that I do not waste my time and fuel to visit this place. Does not matter how great the food is, because of the customer service being worst, I should give this place one star. If you are really desperate to eat at this restaurant, please ensure to call though do not be surprised if nobody picks up the phone.

Yelp
I have eaten at Ichiban more than a dozen times; dining in or taking it to go. It is a family operated business from the kitchen to the wait staff. Everyone helps one another when it gets busier than normal. The food is always consistent no matter if you go for lunch or dinner. The dishes are made to order. It is a restaurant with limited seating & fills up quick as in open the door for lunch or dinner & *boom* the restaurant is full. This place is not intended for large parties, however has noodle bar seating (you can sit at watch the chefs cook your food) For my entire pregnancy I ordered the same dish Okyo Don with extra nori & hot water with lemon. Jasmine remembered as I continuously forgot about the extra nori on more than one occasion. PRO - Quality food - Noodle bar seating - Customer service - Able to order for to go CON - limited hours I would recommend this place during business hours :) try not to crave the food on the weekend it'll just get you mad.

Victor H.

Yelp
Best noodle place in town. The service is great and super clean. The food is amazing

avery s.

Yelp
REAL ramen. The best you'll ever have here in Amarillo. The Ichiban ramen is one of the best. But if you're feeling a lil spicy, the spicy miso ramen is super yummy!
google avatar

Tresa C.

Yelp
Absolutely good food. We have had the Beef Pad Thai , the Beef Udon noodles, egg rolls and the dumplings. Have no complaints...always consistent and very reasonably priced.
google avatar

Brittany T.

Yelp
They have AMAZING food, and you can't find anything like it in Amarillo. I highly recommend Onion Miso Ramen as a classic dish. You can ask for chili powder if you want more control over the spice level or get the Spicy Miso Ramen is you know you like a kick. It's a small place with very limited space. I recommend going when they open or waiting enough time for some tables to finish their meal before going. There's only one or two waitresses, and they do their best and are sooo nice. Definitely one of my favorites in Amarillo!
google avatar

Jared K.

Yelp
We love the ramen here, it is so tasty. Many ramen options to choose from and they are all great! Our only complaint is that they are not open many of the times we are craving their food.

Malachi S.

Yelp
best food, worst customer service, I have to literally drive by to see if they are open, because they do not answer the phone. really frustrating, even when attempting to dine in, it is Always packed and running out of food. maybe they should expand instead of buying lusury sports cars which are the cooks parked outside. bad business but Good food IF you can get lucky enough to eat it. smh
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
My friend and I recently went here and it was packed so I was super excited. When we were going through the menu I noticed they had a lot of shellfish, which I'm allergic to. So I told the waitress. I think they just didn't want to serve us because I'm a person of color and so is my friend, so she said I couldn't have anything on the menu at all. I asked her why, she said that they cook everything with a shellfish broth. First off I don't believe that, because miso uses a paste and that's it. So we asked her is there anything on here that doesn't have any shellfish? She said no, not even the miso. I just gave up and went to Thai Arawan, they were soooo much better and nicer.

Kishore Y.

Yelp
Excellent ramen. To go since we are in the middle of a pandemic and whatnot. The ichiban ramen is good for non-spicy food. The spicy miso good for spicy. I've been here around 10-20 times.
google avatar

Kimmy T.

Yelp
I want to come back to Amarillo to try the rest of the items on the menu. So many different choices! Everything sounds and looks really good. Had the tom yum miso ramen. It was light and flavorful with a touch of heat. Not as much as I like, but I added and it was good. Tasted more like tom yum than miso, which is what I wanted. T even liked it and he usually is very particular about Thai flavors. LOL. Place is small and was pretty busy. Service was good. T ordered the wrong thing and they had no issues changing his order, even when they had already started prepping it.
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time today during lunch. They were packed! The service was great, the food was very flavorful. We are definitely going back.
google avatar

Olya G.

Yelp
The space is small and can be hard to get a seat, but the food is amazing and always tasty. I've had the Pad Thai and the Curry Fried Noodles and both were amazing with plenty of leftovers.
google avatar

Lindsey J.

Yelp
Every single dish on the menu is delectable and made to order. This small, family-run restaurant operates as a well-oiled machine and everyone is hustling from open to close. They could hire more staff and extend hours, but it may loose some of the magic that goes into each meal. If we're just talking about food, this is a five star restaurant all day every day. It is a delight to watch the chefs/owners in action as they simmer, stir and add spices to each meal from the bar overlooking the cooking space. But let's talk a second about ambiance - the place needs a SERIOUS scrubbing and a fresh coat of paint in a bad way. And when I say scrubbing, I mean with bleach, a water hose and lots and lots of soap. This is the ONLY reason I docked a star from my review. I would happily pay an extra dollar or two per dish to see this restaurant go from diamond in the rough to straight up diamond.

F T.

Yelp
Hands-down the best Ramen restaurant in Amarillo. I especially loved the spicy miso Ramen.

Moe F.

Yelp
Decent food and horrible hours. They have not answered the phone in 3 months. If you are open 5-8 why wouldn't you pick up theat 6:00? I don't think I've ever tried so hard to give someone money Finally got through and the food was fantastic. If you can get them to sell you something it is probably the best in town.
google avatar

Lloyd M.

Yelp
My wife had the Chicken Fried Rice...had couple slices of chicken and couple pieces of onions with bed of mushy rice. Such a major rip off!!! Will never go there again!!!
google avatar

walter R.

Yelp
The last two times I came here they had a sign out front stating they had run out of food.

Ret S.

Yelp
The Tom Yum Miso ramen was great! Spicy and full of flavor... also huge. The place is only open for takeout right now but you can call ahead or order there and they will bring it out to your car.

Anuja B.

Yelp
The food was fresh & absolutely delicious...the waitress was constantly with a smile...price range was reasonable!

Gregory B.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant! I have seen others complain about wait times and hours of operation, but this is a family owned business that has its priorities right. Keep taking care of your family first! The ones who appreciate you and your food will always return. The food is tremendous and the service is always the best! If you like spicy, try the atomic chicken.

Sarai M.

Yelp
Food is okay. Got the spicy miso, spring rolls, and fried gyoza. Best thing was the spring rolls; the spicy miso tasted like hot & spicy soup from a Chinese place and the noodles were lo mein. Over all, just okay- prob wouldn't try again
google avatar

Jonathon H.

Yelp
Not legit. Not even close. Egg noodles are not "ramen", chachu pork served was bland and flavorless. The soupbase was just greasy, no umami at all. That wasn't even the biggest issue. It took more than half an hour to get my ramen after my egg rolls had already been served. The only positive to this is the server who was attentive and apologetic. The backsplash on the counter was dirty. The japanese people suffered enough for their transgressions back in WWII. They dont need this place calling themselves "Number One" in Japanese bringing additional shame to their culture.
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
This is definitely a hidden gem and I'm glad I finally got to try this place. They serve a typical fusion menu including ramen and rice bowls. The menu is actually pretty extensive. You walk in there are bar seats along with tables with an open view of the chef in the kitchen. Large woks are firing and you can smell the oil and all the food being cooked. I do warn you that the food does seem to be on the sweeter side than I am used to. The soup comes out piping hot as do the appetizers. I was able to try their spicy ramen and it is very filling with noodles chewy and bouncy. I was also able to try the mapotofu bowl which was amazing albeit a bit on the sweet side.
