Endo at Rotunda Sushi Restaurant Opens at Ex-BBC TV White City Tower | Eater London

"A fast-casual London-based Japanese wagyu beef burger brand launched last year, backed by directors Benjamin Goldkorn and Robin Leigh; a broader roll-out of the concept is understood to be planned to commence this year. The brand has featured in the same investors' expanding portfolio of Japanese dining projects, and there was earlier speculation about involvement from sushi chef Endo Kazutoshi, though he was not named as an official partner at that time." - Adam Coghlan

We're definitely coming back, and when we do, I hope to upgrade this review to 5 stars! Sushi was fresh, but the remen and hibachi (as a dining table order) was ok. The real winner here was an out of this world chicken lo mein!!! It was so flipping good. We knew right away we'll be coming back to get it again. Hopefully, the next time we come here, we'll find another winning dish.

Google
We love going here. Every one is so nice and of course the hibachi is where it’s at I also had the Dragon roll and it was out of this world!!

Dilruba L.

Google
We had hibachi. I loved the food and the preparation was interesting to watch. If you want a private table then go for regular dining. Hibachi tables are for 8 people which means there will be random people dining with you. And if you go in a group then it will be more enjoyable in my opinion. The environment is very festive, but a little loud for my taste. If you don't want to wait for half an hour to be seated, then ahead!

Google
Food is good, employees are terrible, every single time we come we come around 8:30, we are very very very rushed to the point it’s absolutely ridiculous. And very annoying. Including closing blues and trying to force us out like 40 minutes before close. I understand they want to get out of work. But do not rush paying customers to this extent when you still have time before close. This is ridiculous and these employees have to be addressed because it ruins the experience and atmosphere. Tips will continue to be very low till this is addressed. If I even continue coming. I am a paying customer.

Update: I can’t respond to comment on my review from restaurant. The issue was we were never allowed to handle the card reader. It was never handed to us. The waitress took our card and pressed it herself. There was no option or chance to change it. Original: Usually have no problem here. Have been dozens of times. But there is no disclaimer about there being an automatic tip applied for a party of two?? Sitting at a regular table. I tried emailing and it said the email couldn’t receive mail, and I tried using the contact form and no one ever responded. It was already an $107 bill, and the waitress took the card, already charged it and then pressed 22% tip and made us sign for it, couldn’t go back. This was a special date and we aren’t rich, and the service was very slow and not great so the highest tip I would’ve given would’ve been 15%. $24 dollars later, on top of the bill, want to know what the deal is. “For a restaurant to legally charge an automatic gratuity, it must clearly and conspicuously inform the customer beforehand. If an automatic charge is added for only two people without any prior notice, it is legally and ethically questionable”

Google
This was the first time I've stopped in after spending the last year driving past and I wish I had stopped sooner. The whole menu looks wonderful and as soon as the first part of the order arrived, I knew I was in for a treat. The clear mushroom soup tastes like eating a grilled portobello mushroom! The salad is light and refreshing. I had the chicken negimaki as an appetizer and the hibachi sukiyaki for my main. I'd recommend the fried rice as the side for the hibachi. Overall, I will absolutely be back and will try sushi next time!

Google
First time visiting. Sushi was good. A lot on the menu to choose from so it took me a while to order. I even prepared before hand by looking at the online menu but got kicked out because they closed. Would have been nice to be able to still see the menu when they are closed. I ordered the spicy girl and the golden roll. I wasn’t aware they had hibachi until I went to the bathroom. It was almost tucked away in the back room. That should be front and center in my opinion. Would have been cool to do that. Maybe next time!

Maribel M.

Google
We sat and ate at the hibachi section of the restaurant. It was great to see the chef performed while preparing and cooking our meal. Nice friendly environment, excellent customer service food delicious till the very last bite. Dessert worth saving room for.

Yelp
Love it here! We have been 3 times now. The second time for hibachi, they used extra garlic and butter and that made it amazing. They didn't do that automatically the next time so we will ask next time. We have had the chicken and sukiyaki and both are excellent. The gyoza are also good. It's clean, the waitstaff is friendly. As expected for hibachi, it can be loud and hard to hear your party if you go on a weekend. We found early on a Wednesday night is pretty perfect!
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
The restaurant was pretty dead. The waitress was kind and attentive. The restaurant was impeccably clean. I ordered the Clear Mushroom soup for lunch. It was hot and delicious. They brought it out quickly and came to see how I liked it. This is a great place for good quality inexpensive Japanese food.
google avatar

Rhonda L.

Yelp
The food was good. We had a mango roll and vegetable tempura. We felt very rushed. Upon entering someone should have mentioned they were closing soon. It was very early evening The restrooms were filthy !

Yelp
Over the years, Ichiban used to be one of my absolute favorite spots, especially for hibachi. It was the full experience that kept us coming back: the energy, the entertainment, the food, and of course, the lively chefs who made it all feel like a celebration. Unfortunately, that spark has completely disappeared. During my last few visits, the hibachi experience has been nothing short of disappointing. The chefs barely engage with the table anymore. They don't talk, they skip the saki tradition, and the once-joyful atmosphere feels cold and rushed. It genuinely feels like they've lost all interest in putting on a show, and that's a huge letdown considering the price you're paying. The experience is supposed to include the performance, the energy, and the fun. Without that, what's the point? It's clear that something has changed behind the scenes. Management really needs to step up and address whatever is going on because it's obvious the staff no longer has the passion or motivation they once did. As someone who used to recommend Ichiban to everyone, it's sad to say I no longer feel excited to return.
google avatar

Brice S.

Yelp
The Ichiban is wonderful you have sushi, salmon, and wonderful food and deserts. The workers are very nice and check up on you often and the food is out quickly. The place is full of Japanese culture. (They forgot my miso soup tho...)
google avatar

Elsa L.

Yelp
Every time we come into town we go here and it's always great food and great entertainment by the chef making our meal. Thanks Ichiban!

Mikayla S.

Yelp
The drinks were terrible. I got the Tokyo rose, which i couldn't drink and i had to return. I figured maybe it just wasn't for me, so i ordered a drink i usually like at most restaurants, an espresso martini. This espresso martini was made with espresso, cream and vodka and that's it. It wasn't sweet, it was extremely bitter, and they didn't shake it to create any foam on top. My espresso martini glass also had a lipstick mark on it from a previous customer which should've been noticed by the bartender or the server. So i had to send that drink back too, and decided to just have water. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. The bathroom was extremely messy, toilet paper and paper towel littering all over the counters and floors.

Yelp
First time I ever went to a Japanese Steakhouse and the chef did not offer Sake to anyone at our table. Place does have plenty of parking and can handle very large groups. Food however was forgettable with Rice undercooked, tenderloin steak ordered medium was overcooked and Shrimp was rubbery. No major issues with service and drinks came out in a timely manner. Hopefully the below average experience is a one off.

Yelp
Great place for sushi and pad Thai! This is a regular place I pickup from! Never eaten in, as I'm always at work so wouldn't know anything about ambiance and service - the food is always on point and very much a fan of chicken karaage! Yummm

Seven C.

Yelp
A good restaurant, but over the years their decor has been falling apart- especially in the dining room on the left of the main entrance. Food is good, and their menu is a great starting place for those who have not had a lot of Japanese food. I've gone a few times, and had my first hibachi there. Good restaurant, would be five stars if the decor was cleaned up.
google avatar

Yelp
I was visiting from NY and stopped in. We had great & friendly service. The food was great. Try this place.
google avatar

Fred T.

Yelp
We had a group lunch outing there for someone retiring and it was pretty good. We used 2 of the hibachi tables and everyone except 1 went with the hibachi dinners, beef, chicken, shrimp and I had the salmon. A good show doing the food preparation and plenty to eat with the fried rice. The Salmon was very good, nicely prepared, a good meal. It was a bit empty but maybe that was since it was lunch time and it might be busier for dinner.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! Whether I order & have it delivered or dining in! Their sushi is always well-presented & fresh! I easily order online & they use DoorDash to deliver it to you. I am willing to spend on the Sushi for 2 & every once in a while, splurge on the Love Boat. They give you plenty of wasabi & soy sauce. I have a collection of their chop sticks, haha. It's always a great experience so I keep coming back for more. I have sat at the bar area for some drinks & apps with some coworkers & had a great time. The dining room is nice & can get busy. All in all, I wish I could give more details, but the summary is that Ichiban is great.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, tuna was fresh, and steaks were prepared perfectly. The chef had amazing knife skills but I have seen better crowd involvement at other locations. The restaurant was clean and perfectly lit, we were seated very quickly despite being busy. The prices were right in the realm of normal for hibachi. Over all it was a great time. I would have liked to see some more local beers on the list but there was plenty of ones that fit my liking, I will definitely return next time I'm in the area

Yelp
Reviewing BEEF PAD THAI - Very disappointed that they don't make it with peanut sauce! They should call it something else in this case... It was delicious but not what I wanted.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
I am only giving three stars because of their COVID procedures or lack thereof. According to a sign on the wall, there should be at least two seats between people in the Hibachi room, but every party was only one seat away. I guess COVID rules are optional in New Hampshire. Besides that, we really enjoyed our meal. The chefs and waitresses were entertaining and pleasant. The food was good and exactly how we expected it to be. If you're looking for a great place to watch the flaming volcano, then you should make your way to Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse.

Yelp
The BEST Japanese steakhouse I've ever been to !!!! The food is to die for and the service is fast and accurate!!

Vicki L.

Yelp
Paid top dollar for filet minion and it was the most grisly steak I have ever eaten. There is no way it was filet, I literally could not chew it enough to swallow it. I have reported them to BBB for false advertising. Stay away!!

C P.

Yelp
On 10/1/23 I ordered eel sushi and pork Lo Mein. The sushi was very warm, almost hot. It should have been cold. It was also tiny pieces, no bigger around than a dime. (Six were included) for $8.99! The Lo Mein- I ordered PORK, and got chicken. It was overcooked, very slimy, super sweet and absolutely disgusting!!! I've never had Lo mein sweet like this was. $28 and change, plus a tip for picking it up myself. All thrown in the trash, right where it belonged!!! I do NOT recommend!! Yuck!

Kurt G.

Yelp
Always happy going to Ichiban restaurant. Excellent service and plenty of choices on the menu. I've never been disappointed with the food there. Very nice ambiance too, friendly customers, many regulars there on occasion.

Madden B.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Ichiban! Not only was the food delicious, but everything was wonderful. The staff were really interactive when they were making hibachi. The place itself was really nice too and just fun to be there!
google avatar

Tj C.

Yelp
We didn't go in for the hibachi this time. Sat in the regular dinning area. Were waited on very fast. Food arrived but it was a bit cold. . Ordered hibachi steak and shrimp . And extra noodles. Food still tasted good . Ordered a few drinks that were very very strong . But decently good
google avatar

Savannah L.

Yelp
It was good, service was great and my food was great. So I do recommend! It was our first time there and I honestly have no complaints about anything. My waitress was attentive even when she was taking on quite a few tables at a time. All the sushi chefs were nice and friendly. We will be back.

Yelp
Ichiban has potential. To bad they are cutting the wrong corners to make a profit. Food/Drink. Food was cooked to perfection. Extremely delicious. Portions a little on the smaller side for what I paid. I ordered the steak and scallop hibachi combo. My steak was barely 6oz and the scallops were bay not sea scallops. So the really small ones that are not as good. I've never ordered scallops for hibachi and was served bay. Kinda a rip off. Just sayin. Drinks. Well I do not recommend drinking the sake they squirt at you. It tasted salty and disgusting. The drinks that we had ordered, were fairly descent. Cleanliness/Atmosphere. Very clean and beautiful inside, but...... I had to send back my plate for being filthy with caked on food as well as a sake cup. Both dirty and should not of been placed out for guests. Two dirty dishes in one visit. Also the hibachi room was uncomfortably cold. I know it's winter, but come on. I shouldn't have to wear my jacket at dinner. Service. Very prompt and extremely friendly. Cost. Well the food to what I got and portion size was extremely high compared to other hibachi restaurants. Drinks were fairly priced. I was surprised. I thought beverages would of been higher compared to the absurd price for food compared to the portion size and what your actually getting. Will I be back, eh probably not in the foreseeable future. There's better hibachi and sushi places a short ride away. So I say half a star for Food/Drink, cleanliness and atmosphere and cost. A star for service and sadly I would not recommend Ichiban. As the corners they cut to save did them zero favors. I was shivering during my dinner, had to send a plate and a glass back for cleanliness. Bay scallops vs sea scallops. A small steak. Ichiban is just not worth it. So my finale rating is 2.5 stars. Unfortunately you have to round up. 3 stars.
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
Atmosphere was fun and staff was friendly and helpful. The food itself was not that great. The fried rice was heavy and greasy without much flavor. The steak was tough and chewy.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
We recently visited Iciban for the first time. The place was clean and lively. We had reservation and they took us right away. The service was quick, personal, and efficient. The Chef was the best yet. The soup was outstanding. The salad was good, it needed a little more dressing. The fired rice with extra egg was award winning. It had a more peppery taste that I really loved. Made it different then every other Japanese steak house. My wife and I ordered the Filet Mignon, rare. One at our table ordered the regular steak. The food was cooked perfect and seasoned perfectly. However, I am sad to tell you I did not get the Filet, but the standard steak. You ask how I know? Well, my father-in-law is a butcher and has taught me a lot plus filet does not have sinew in it and is very tender. My steak was tasty but not the most tender. Not sure how this happened but we will try this restaurant again and keep our eye on what meat goes where. Has potential to be a Five Star.
google avatar

Dave I.

Yelp
Everyone very friendly. Service was very good however the chef not that excited to be there. Not sure if he was just having an off day. I've been to many restaurants with this venue and found it to be much better. We might go back if we get a different chef. I would say that this place would get 5 stars if they just trained their Chef's how to be more entertaining. Drinks were great and very strong!

Mathew D.

Yelp
We arrived for lunch for 11 am when they first opened. On arrival they stated there was a 20-25 minute wait. We were the first and only ones there. The staff had just started cleaning the facility ( mopping and cleaning the tables that were left dirty from the night before. although the food is usually fantastic. I wouldn't get there early or pick a different place if you are in a hurry.
google avatar

Jess A.

Yelp
I love love their rock shrimp tempura and the moneybags (both appetizers). The hibachi is also pretty tasty. Just wish it wasn't so expensive. My husband and I go there at least twice a month.
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
Went for my sons birthday. Evidently they close at 7:30 Sunday's and we went in right before closing without realizing. They let us in, but got upset when we didn't know what we wanted to order immediately. They gave us one drink and out food and never came back until they automatically brought boxes and our receipt. i mentioned something, but they just pretended to not understand me. Very dissatisfie.
google avatar

Craige L.

Yelp
Jody at bar was rude and obnoxious- stopped by at 915 (close at 10) and couldn't be bothered. When did order I was told kitchen was closed in 5 - holy moly this broad has to go

Debbie G.

Yelp
I was looking forward to a #1 in the area dinner and was deeply disappointed. I will not be back. The volcano Roll was a serious disappointment. I've never seen it served this way. It has no flavor. It looks pretty. The lo Mein was greedy and the noodles too soft. The staff was great and friendly so I gave the 2 stars the staff was attentive.

Yelp
After a small house-fire early Christmas morning, we decided to have christmas dinner at Ichiban ("A Christmas Story" style.) We sat at a grill and was given a nice show by the chef as he prepared our food. The presentation, quality, flavor, and value of everything was good. Everyone agreed the meal saved our Christmas day. Our only complaint was the place was extremely drafty. The place is huge and they decided to only heat the room with the grills that they had guests seated in. This caused cold air to rush in under our chairs from every direction. Even with a few cups of tea (and a few complaints to the waitstaff,) we were glad to get into our warm cars when the meal was over.

Yelp
Recently, I stopped in at Ichiban on Manchester Street for a late lunch. I arrived here around 2:53 PM and was promptly seated in the quiet dining room and given a dinner menu. I was aware that lunch is served until 3PM Mon-Sat since I reviewed the takeout menu before coming here. The waitress arrives at my table shortly after I'm seated and I ask for a lunch menu and I was told it was dinner time. I then took out my cellphone displaying 2:58 PM and the waitress reluctantly scurried back to the kitchen and came back saying I could still order lunch, the customer is always right! For lunch, I ordered the Ton Katsu Lunch Box ($9) which included salad, California roll, white rice, and 2 spring rolls. The salad had fresh iceberg lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes, topped with a tangy creamy ginger dressing. The Lunch Box arrived quickly after I finished the salad. The ton katsu was very tender boneless pork coated in a crispy breading, not too greasy with dipping sauces. The California roll was very tasty with seasticks and avocado. The white rice had a soft texture, slightly sticky. The spring rolls was light and crispy filled with cabbage & carrot, not too greasy. Overall, the food I had was very good, fresh, and tasty. The portion of food was just right for lunch, yet filling. Once things were straightened out in the beginning, the service was prompt and went very smoothly.

Yelp
I love ichiban! I worked here for three years as a bartender, and continue to go back as a customer. The owners are hands on, very invested in quality food, customer service and it is a kitchen that I can attest to is clean and professional. Fun for all, whether a birthday, celebration or just to have a night out at the bar! Highly recommend both the sushi and hibachi...

Maddie S.

Yelp
Always good sushi! And we always have good service. Overall the dinner room is very clean along with the bar and hibachi room.

Matt U.

Yelp
What a disappointment. My son who is allergic to shellfish had most of his meal ruined after the chef put contaminated food on his plate. When we complained there response was $3.75 off a $181.00 dollar bill. The place is load and obnoxious and they clearly don't care about their customers. Beyond that the food quality is slightly better than McDonald's. stay away!! Went back after many years and once again it was a disappointment. I ordered a drink and when it came it was obviously something else. The waitress argued with me that is was what I ordered when it was not. Club soda is not yellow. What a mistake. Go anywhere else than this place. The worst restaurant and wait staff in all of Concord.
google avatar

Eliot D.

Yelp
Always enjoy the show of the chefs. The food is hot and fresh. I was a little worried that the Chef was touching raw chicken before touching beef to be cooked just medium. The drinks did not come fast enough.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Excellent Japanese style food. Very fresh. Outstanding selection. Great bartender.

Sara S.

Yelp
We found this restaurant via yelp, and figured it was worth a shot. At 1230 on a Saturday it was a little slow. We weren't the only people in the room, so we stayed. Service was friendly and well-paced. We started with edamame and it was delicious. Lots of flaky sea salt. Our dishes were beautiful. Presentation was clean, bright, and interesting. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special thinking that 11bucks wouldn't get me very far, but I ended up stuffed. Definitely not the best sushi I've had, but not the worst. The spicy rolls were a little weird. The crunch they put in them hadn't been mixed well and so they had swirls of dry "rice crispies" in there. Otherwise would eat there again. It appears that their specialty is the fancy rolls. They're 10-15 bucks, but looked sooo good! Usually I can find a couple that sound good on a sushi menu, but there were probably 6-8 rolls that i was dying to order. Alas, it was lunch and I went frugal. Bah. Next time!
google avatar

Amy N.

Yelp
Very reasonably priced, fresh seafood with a very conscientious and courteous staff to create it and serve it to you. We loved every bite! If we lived here, we would probably eat here often. I give it three stars because I thought it lacked ambiance and there was a wicked draft through the window the whole time I was eating. The wait staff have a lot of difficulty understanding english but muttle through. I expect that, I suppose it is the norm. Still, can't toss 4 strars on that experience.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
In Concord it's slim pickens for Japanese food; so that's why I'm giving this restaurant a 4. If this restaurant was in LA/SF/Boston/NYC, it would a 2.5. Taking that into consideration our overall meal was extremely pleasant. The service was very attentive and sweet. We ordered: -Agedashi Tofu: decent -Chicken Karaage: decent [ the sauce that accompanied it wasn't typical, it was like buffalo hot sauce?] -Edamame: bad, not fully cooked and extremely salty. -NY Roll: decent [ my moms loved it!] obviously these aren't staples to Japanese cuisine, and we didn't mess with the hibachi grill either. All and all I say go if you're in the area, and have a hankering for some Japanese food. Just remember, when any restaurant regardless of its background has a very extensive menu, it's difficult for the kitchen to do all the dishes right.
google avatar

Jillian P.

Yelp
If you get the right guy to do your hibachi than your in for a treat! Great time and amazing food. I personally love their sushi too! Best sushi in this area. Love this place!! -Jillian Parker

G K.

Yelp
Garbage at the city dump has more taste than here. Chicken Pad Thai was tasteless with 2 pieces of chicken and the whole dish color was PINK! Ordered a Philadelphia sushi roll got a salmon roll. Chicken teriyaki was low grade chicken that pets would eat. NEVER AGAIN!

Susan B.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner last Sat before heading back down to MA. I couldn't decide what I wanted and was in the mood for more than hibachi or sushi so I ordered the Pad Thai, the menu offered no description so I assumed it was traditional.... it was not even close to Pad Thai, it was full of peppers and was in a reddish almost curry sauce. If your dish isn't the normal way people expect it to come out... you need to clarify that in your menu. The shrimp were also tough they were so over cooked. My husband ordered the surf and turf that was supposed to be a lobster tail and filet mignon but what he got was a cheap piece of skirt steak (at a filet mignon price) and an over cooked lobster tail. Honestly one of the worst meals I've had lately, I wish we had stopped somewhere else.

Andrea S.

Yelp
If I could leave a 0 stars I would....we were seated for hibachi as requested, received our salad and soup- half way through our soup we were asked to get up and move so that two couples could have the 4 seats right in front of the cook....i was in mid slurp of my soup, when asked. Had to grab everything ourselves and move....They waited another 1/2 hour to fill the final two seats- so now we have waited 45 mins just for the cook to arrive....never mind the 20-25 mins cooking time... The hostess was rude and ignorant....NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN!
google avatar

Cristine T.

Yelp
One note flat flavor restaurant Great if you like chicken broth thickened with corn starch. Fresh ginger was good but the wasabi wasn't even hot. Pad Thai was over-cooked mush noodles with shrimp flavorless. Portion size was good, vegetables were fresh Nat fly in the saki too.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
This place has the BEST sushi in New Hampshire!! This is my favorite place to take home sushi or dine in. The restaurant is very clean, and the service is very good. If you're looking for amazing sushi that is delicious, creative, and exquisitely presented....this is where you go.

Geny L.

Yelp
One question - do you guys know what a FILET is? I DON'T THINK SO. When I called this to your attention, you argued with me. Sometimes I like the chew of a sirloin - but only when it comes with a sirloin price tag. And sometimes I don't mind paying the price for a nice filet - when it really a FILET.
