One of the two 9-course dinner menus need to be pre-ordered 4 days ahead. Most ingredients are flown in from Japan, including some exclusive ones not found elsewhere, such as Miwa somen and Iga beef. My mum normally is afraid to try Ankimo (monkfish liver) but she absolutely loved the Ankimo Handroll here. You can truly see the skill, creativity, thought, effort and quality of the dishes made with Premium Japanese ingredients. Would love to try their dinner omakase in future

Ichigo Ichie Always a fan of Japanese food, I asked my friend to find something new & exciting! So, before we start: DONT GO IF YOU DONT LIKE NOISE! We had a wonderful couple next to us, but there was also a group of 7, seemed to celebrate something, with bottles of Cristal Roederer! The unfortunate part was that they were so noisy, I felt sorry for the Chef! (Behaved like a bunch of farmers during chinese new year) In a restaurant that is primarily counter seating (there are 2 private rooms & 1 tea room) one needs to be conscientious of other diners! Oh well, I guess $$$ don’t buy class! The Chef: Ms Akane Eno, is not new in town, apparently at present location 5 years, prior 2 years at Robinson Quay , she was gentle but also appeared a bit stressed! The Classical Japanese counter, partially wood, also stone, classical layout, not bad, serves its purpose! The Menu, check their website or go through reservation, and for lunch you have two choices, Akebono at 138,-$ or Shinonome at 188,-$, plus when you are seated you are given a choice to upgrade from Beef to Unagi for additional 22,-$ as well as an additional Handroll at 22,-$ as well! It was a special celebration so we opted for the works! Plus a half bottle of Bubbles! Devaux, which was surprisingly pleasant! The Food: Starting off with the classic Sashimi Box, a tad too warm for my taste, quality was good though, well cut, the shell ark was good, marinated fish excellent, the egg a classic 7 out of 10 Next up was the Shawanmushi with King crab meat and Japanese eggplant! Great consistency, flavour good! 8 out of 10 The Extra, the Ankimo Handroll, a classic, tasty, and well made in front of you! 8 out of 10 Following was chef’s signature dish the Somen , Ebi, Uni, Timburi & prawn stock, it was served cold, Uni great prawn a bit overcooked, else decent 7 out of 10 A sort of main course, was the Tuna Cheek Miso Yuan. Which I personally felt was the best dish of the day! Super tender, extremely well cooked, together with the Matsutake Mushroom, a real winner! 9 out of 10 The Tai Ohba Fry, was a sea bream in seaweed crust, decent but for me a tad too dry? 6 out of 10 Another Highlight was the Donabe Rice, we opted for the Unagi, which was really excellent! Great consistency & flavour 9 out of 10 Dessert was nice, Houjicha Ice Cream plus some fresh fruit! 8 out of 10 Overall a pleasant meal, service was good, although quite busy with that group! Chef Akane-san has elevated my Omakase experience to a new level. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my special milestone and it was so worth it with a tailored crab themed menu. Every dish she presented was a blown-away savoury journey. What made it even better is the sake wine, winter sake wine she recommended to pair with the menu. Outstanding!

Every dish was a masterpiece. Delicious and beautifully presented. My favourite was the chef’s signature somen topped with prawn and uni, the uni was so rich, creamy and fresh. A very satisfying meal!

It was our first time to try a Japanese restaurant with female chef and the matsutake oakase. The decoration of the restaurant is simple, generous and comfortable. The chef is gentle, careful and intelligent with exquisite skills, which can well reflect the quality and deliciousness of the ingredients.

Absolutely fantastic. Our lunch was better than any fine dining meal I’ve had in Tokyo. The flavors and presentation of each dish was phenomenal. Everything tasted so clean and fresh it’s amazing that everything is imported from Japan. I strongly recommend!
