"Three generations of women from a family of Japanese chefs who were among the first to bring Japanese food to Argentina in the 60s created this quietly legendary spot. Behind an unmarked door in the unpolished neighborhood of Balvanera, an atmosphere of dark wood and simple decor lets you focus on what's important—the sushi. We love the chef’s choice platter, but if we’re feeling fancy, we’ll pick one of the set 7-course menus, where you’ll try Ichisou’s best hot dishes of the moment, like their miso ramen or a fixed sushi menu which includes tempura, miso soup, sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. When the doors open at 730, people start arriving at Ichisou, and by the time 830 rolled around, every seat was full. Which is so refreshing and almost unheard of in this beautiful city, also known as one of the late dining capitals of the world. Prices here were not for the faint of heart, but the quality of fish and attentive service made up for it. All in all, a lovely meal for a special occasion.

Authentic. Cute restaurant with long history goes 70 years back to a Japanese culinary family. The current chef is one of the few female sushi chef of her time when it’s uncommon to have female sushi chefs (and remain so to this day). Good food, fresh fish, tastes ‘home’.

Best Traditional Japanese restaurant in the city. Make a reservation and ask for a traditional tatami table. If this is your first time, I suggest to order the degustation menu in which you are going to taste all the delicious and traditional dishes they prepare here (I have included the pictures of all of them). The restaurant is not pricy taking into account the exceptional quality of the food and the experience.

Hands down the best and freshest sushi and sashimis in BA. It is not in a touristy area. The combinados is a mix of sushis and sashimis. The kind waiters will ask only salmon or mixed seafood and with philadelphia cream cheese or without. Every food came unexpectedly fast, true Japanese spirit! Reservation is a must. Paid parking was available around the same block.

You'll find a renowned sushi woman in the japanese scene. The carefully decorated sashimi was fresh and tasty. We also had Kimuchi onabe that was delicious.

I'm not a ramen expert, but I loved it! Excellent niguiri, service, and decor in an unexpected location. Well worth the visit.
