Best Ice Cream Shops in San Jose and the South Bay Area | Eater SF

"Ice cream and a show? Look no further than Icicles, a shop specializing in rolled ice cream — a frozen dessert created by scraping a thin layer of ice cream off a cold metal pan into tight spirals. Each ice cream is crafted to order, so visitors can watch as their desserts are rolled and customized with a seemingly unlimited assortment of toppings. Some of the most popular flavors include Oreo Blast, Strawberry Fantasy, and Nutella n’ Chill, and the shop also offers non-dairy options. Icicles may have started with one small shop in San Jose, but today there are nine locations sprawled across the Bay Area." - Cathy Park

Google
it's super tasty.. I also love the process to make it, you can see what they are mixing in your icecream.. small area but have outdoor sitting area.. lots of options to choose icecream flavors and toppings.. I felt like little pricey, but once in while it's ok.. overall lovey experience.

Sachin Joshi

Google
Nice for Togo orders, the place to sit is dingy and poorly maintained. Service is slow so watch out for peaks you might need to wait really long even if 3-4 people are ahead of you.

Google
Total Score: 9.100 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Very cutesy, very fun names, but a bit cramped. Lovely lights tho! Food: 4.75/5 Huge variety of toppings and flavors. The mixins added a nice crunch to the rolled ice cream. Literally could get everything I want. So much so that it was spilling over. Why was it so expensive tho 12 dollars?? 😭 Wow: 0.5/1 Wowed by the diversity of flavors Total Score = 3.5*AM + 6*FOOD + 0.5*WOW

Google
16$ for an icecream only to receive half a cup. Tried calling grubhub and icicles but noone picked up the phone. Non existent customer service

Weekday visits(~8.30 pm): A little on expensive side for ice cream, wish they had smaller sizes. Ordered Ferrari(love the name) rolled icecream, it’s okay chocolate waffle, powdered almonds and Nutella (added brownie and powdered oreo toppings, no additional charge). Place was little busy, cold inside, had continuous orders, served in <10 min. Outside seating was good, this place also had automated drinks as well outside.

Google
Pricey for ice cream. Base Ice cream is $12.95 and toppings are extra. My one ice cream with 2 toppings was close to $16. The ice cream itself was delicious. They are dog friendly

Muthu D

Google
It was fresh and great! Lot of favors and BIG list for toppings... Toppings are unlimited and we can pick any combination... Always waited in line but worth the wait.. Not enough room for sit and taste; also bit expensive. Overall must try and lot better than scoop icecreams!!

Jessica Smith

Google
Priceyyy but worth it for a special treat. This is one of my fav spots to bring friends who are visiting me. The concept is unique and it’s fun to watch them put it together. Bonus: They have a bunch of dairy free options for us dairy free people 😉 Tip: Toppings selection is large! It’s .50 cents to mix in any topping but free for any topping on top.

Yelp
Really delicious. Just wish they would have went over the options and the toppings. You place the order from the self assist service.

Yelp
I had Nutella N Chill with Lichi jelly , Rainbow Boba balls, chocolate fudge etc added to our ice cream. I make a point to visit this place on the weekend to have their delectable ice creams. It takes care of my sweet tooth and I am addicted to their ice cream. They have lot of options to pick from and every time I am savoring a new flavor. This outlet is located in one of the prime location, which is well lit up and is quite happening even in the night time.

Yelp
As Barbie sings in her Title Sequence for her series on Netflix, "So much to see, so much to do Let's share a dream, make it come true Don't hesitate, just take my hand Anything's possible, take a stand". Icicles is doing just that as they've integrated a "DIY boba system" which has so much to see as barbie would say. Once you ask for a cup to begin the cup is iced. There are several automatic dispensers providing a broad range of all sorts of toppings. My friend was so stupid that he filled his entire cup with strawberry jelly... at the end you are given the only option of green tea to choose from, and making your drink into.a milk tea you must ask the employee to fill your cup with one scoop of custard. Overall, not bad at all! I chose the matcha boba which kind of disappointed me. The only kinds of toppings provided are all low maintenance refillable and have a long shelf life. I was hoping that the matcha boba would have been like the green boba that tastes serves, but i took one for the team. The only thing that i don't like is how the inside of Icicles is no cafe to hang out and chill with your friends as the inside has no open tables or chairs while waiting for you order. Now that the boba machines have been introduced, it just creates a wall like the great one you can see in china.. but this one not so great. If you haven't watched ,"All of Us are Dead" where in order to keep the zombies away a furniture barricade is made.snd this reminded me of just that. I can safely say that i survived the apocalypse thanks to icicles boba machines lastly, before i forget, big thank you to the beautiful Kylee for being so sweet, friendly, and patient with us walking us through the whole process. Keep up the good work and don't forget to tip!

Yelp
I remember when this first came to the Bay Area. There were huge lines, and it was a neat concept of how they made their rolled ice cream. I had a chance to stop by again. Cool names and flavors. Nutella N' Chill: Bananas, nutella, & Graham crackers. Topped with mochi, strawberries, chocolate drizzle, & toasted marshmallow. The icecream was ok though a bit icy, but the toasted marshmallow was good! Oreo Blast: Regular Oreo. Basic, no frills, and simple.

Yelp
Came here on a typical Monday afternoon and though pricey, it was worth the rolled ice cream run. It honestly reminded me of the time where they first opened and had booming business. Though the business is more reliant on automated systems rather than face to face interaction, their consistency on making ice cream has never really changed. The rolled ice cream is creamy -- if not, even creamier! The toppings were the cherry on top -- even in the literal sense too. Ambiance wasn't too bad -- although I wish there would have been more light and cleaner, but they can manage to do that better eventually. I'd come back to this location once more -- not even a long wait at all, and i was in an out of there in 10 minutes!

Yelp
Since I was craving ice cream and was already in the area, I thought I'd get some Icicles after so long. When this place first opened, it was so popular and made people recognize Willow Glen haha. When you go inside, there's an ordering machine. They also have this cool futuristic looking boba dispenser but it's not functioning yet and takes up a lot of space in the already small store. Their menu is full of creative combos. Normally their ice cream is $12.50, but their deal of the day had plain vanilla and cookies + cream for $6. Happy that I got my favorite flavor for 1/2 price but wish I could I have tried the other flavors. For novel ice cream, it's expensive and the price has gone up significantly over the years. After you order, you can see the workers scrapping together the ice cream through the glass. Then you can get toppings and drizzles. Mine covered my ice cream so you can't really see the rolls haha Outside, there's a few seating and a cute elephant mural to take photos in front of!

Yelp
We dropped by Icicles since we wanted a change in scenery from the usual milk tea. Such a blast from the past since we used to go back in the day when it first opened up. Surprisingly even though it was late and super cold in the night, there was still a crowd of people grabbing ice cream. The inside of the shop is quaint and mainly a waiting area. There was no cashier but rather a kiosk that everyone can order from. Not all the ice cream options were available! It wasn't specified if it was sold out or they don't serve those flavors later in the night! There are also tables outside for anyone who wants to have a seat, but beware - depending on the weather/time - it could be quite cold so I would recommend to bring a jacket. The prices are definitely high but the portion size is big - definitely shareable size - and it is unlimited toppings. It's also an experience watching the ice cream get prepared. Even the texture of the ice cream is different from the usual stuff you get from the store. I got the ube ice cream with coconut flakes, mochi, lychee jelly, and rainbow jelly and loved it! The only change I wish could be made is how sweet it is. Surprisingly a pleasant experience and this place will be our go to if we wanted a change in pace!

Yelp
Man this place is super packed! The place is small but definitely decorated super trendy. The place provides unlimited toppings as it should. I am a bit disappointed by the huge increase in price. I would def go once in the while for that reason, but the unlimited toppings helped me feel less guilty for such a lofty prices dessert.

Yelp
I visited this place with my family last night. The handmade rolls of ice cream are very good. The kids that made my ice cream were very fast and provided good service. The only thing I would suggest here is that they need to do a slightly better job cleaning the outside tables since you guys charge a fee for dining in. Thanks

Yelp
*NOTICE: This place takes CARD ONLY since they take orders on Kiosk now so do not come in expecting to pay with cash! 3.5 / 5 stars This location is right next to CVS and the parking here is a little confusing. The roads are narrow since you're in Downtown Willow Glen and you're in residential areas! This isn't my first time at Icicles since I did last visit this location in 2022, but things have definitely changed! I used to be able to order with an employee but today I noticed that it's Kiosk only. There's a wide selection of options to choose from and you can have lots of add-ons for your order! You can add extra toppings on top of your ice cream for free but mixing it in with the ice cream costs a little extra. I ordered the Girls Just Wanna Have Flan with Nutella and Oreo chucks mixed in and condensed milk and mochi on top. I'd say it was pretty creamy and it satisfied my ice cream cravings but for about $13, it's pretty expensive compared to other rolled ice cream places I've tried. But hey, this is Icicles! I'd come back only if I'm in the area!

Yelp
It was a hot day and decided to come back to Icicles because haven't been in a while and the rolled ice cream did not disappoint. The rolled ice cream served my taste buds and pricing isn't bad as well. Totally would recommend.

Yelp
3.5 out of 5 stars! I was craving ice cream after the gym and decided I wanted to swing by Icicles to grab some! This was my first time at this establishment. I ended up parking behind the CVS near the ice cream shop which was fine! When I entered, it was not that busy, but I was not greeted by any of the employees and just got stares. I didn't feel welcomed there, but I did not let that finish my experience. I didn't know how I should order, but immediately learned that I needed to order at the kiosk where I saw other guests were ordering. I liked how the menu was expansive and I had the possibility of adding unlimited toppings with no additional cost. I decided to order the Oreo Blast with rainbow sprinkles and brownie bites! My ice cream came out pretty quickly and overall the ice cream was great! The price of the rolled ice cream was around $12.50 which I found a little steep, but I received a lot of rolled ice cream for what I ordered. I also liked how there was outside seating specifically for Icicles customers. I'd say there was probably around 6-8 tables at the ice cream shop. I'll definitely visit this place again and will provide an updated review once I do!

Venika G.

Yelp
Love this place! A little hack: On the kiosk, go to daily deals. Oreo blast was $6 instead of $13 today! Anyways, it was sooooo yummy that I finished the whole thing. Get the brownie mixed in, popping boba, strawberry (blueberry if it's there), chocolate chips, fruity pebbles , and chocolate drizzle. I do wish they had indoor seating though.

Yelp
Tiny hole-in-the-wall spot that's hard to find from the road, but the ice cream is always solid at this chain. It's fun to watch them "make" it on their cold slab and add in whatever toppings you want. The staff are always nice and also super quiet. Keep in mind that these guys are always pretty pricey for ice cream ($12.50 for one serving), compared to other higher-end ice cream chains like Smitten.
google avatar

Ricky N.

Yelp
$12.50 for ice cream folks. Twelve dollars and fifty cents for a bowl of ice cream. And tips are requested.
google avatar

Payom N.

Yelp
Waited 20 minutes for this because they needed to serve others for free to their friends. At least serve your customers in between serving your friends.

Yelp
I frequent this Icicles location a little too much, as I elaborated upon in my earlier review. I spent some time out of state and recently came back, so it was my first time visiting in a while. It's so strange to bring someone with you to a place that has changed so much since you first remember it. There's now a self ordering kiosk in front of the cash register, a new automated boba machine that's about to be unveiled if it hasn't already been, and some new faces that I don't remember seeing before. Some things don't change though, and that includes the $1 off Yelp promotion. I'm not a fan of flavor mixture especially with ice cream where everything becomes homogenous after melting, but I love getting the teas me because I'm a big fan of both matcha and Thai tea. The staff here have always been accommodating of my request to have the two flavors separated, first as three rolls each in the same cup and then one day becoming three rolls each in two separate cups. I'm also a big fan of fresh fruit with my ice cream and have never gotten pushback when asking for just a little bit more strawberry or banana. Do know what you want for toppings and tell your ice cream maker all at once so that they can keep the line moving, nothing worse than waiting on someone who can't make up their mind.

Yelp
I just swing by on the way home, a bit rush for a better pic but the taste is so good!! Hector made my order, very fast and alway greet and do everything with a smile! Nice gestures but many places in the food chain seem to forget! Thanks Hector!

Yelp
We LOVE Icicles! My bf and I stopped by during the heat wave craving delicious frozen treats and we were so happy with our amazing ice cream choices! I ordered the Rock-n-Roll and my bf got the Yay for Coco. Highly recommend the Rock-n-Roll selection for anyone who loves classic Rocky Road as it features the same ingredients of vanilla, marshmallow, almonds, and chocolate. I also added crushed Oreos and a yummy roasted marshmallow to top it off and achieve the ultimate #IceCreamPerfection! lol. My bf prefers more plain options so the Yay for Coco was perfect for him. It tasted like vanilla custard with a small hint of Coconut and he topped it off with whip cream to add some "flair". Our order was made super fast and we enjoyed watching the ice cream making process. The ice cream here tastes amazing you can definitely taste the QUALITY in every bite. Also they give you such a large portion, it definitely makes you FULL fast. lol. The ice cream here is made with very high quality ingredients and we love that we get to watch our ice cream be made in right front of us! It really makes it so much more fun and interesting to watch. (: I also love how they have such a large selection of ice creams to choose from, including non-dairy options (which I am dying to try soon! lol.) This location is very clean, organized, and chilly inside which is perfect for summer days! When we visited they had a really great playlist going of chill/good vibes music when we stopped by. (: I find the colorful outdoor tables so cute and aesthetic also! I really like how the seating area outdoors was clean too. My only complaint would be that we had to place our order on a tablet, which I always find so icky/cringey! (aka unsanitary) I wish we could've given our order directly to the employees like we used to before (not sure when they switched to tablet.) Tablets are so impersonal and take away from the experience for sure. Also! We were never greeted nor spoken to by the employees at all, except to call out our order. It would've been nice to at least receive a "Welcome!" so customer service could be improved for sure but the workers definitely DO work hard and the ice cream quality speaks for itself. So I still love Icicles! lol. For any newbies the ice cream at Icicles is a bit on the pricey side but for the service you receive, the high quality delicious ingredients, yummy large quantities, and obviously some very hard working employees. It's definitely worth it! Will be back soon. :)

Yelp
Took our girls (7 & 10) to Icicles for a treat. The girls had the All Fudged Up & Bae-sic and I had the Bravocado. The girls were really into watching their ice cream being rolled. You get a lot of ice cream but you should since it's $12.50. You get unlimited toppings which is a plus. The shop is not very big inside but there's some additional seating outside. Overall the experience was good and I could see us going back again.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
The workers here were so friendly! I came by and it wasn't too crowded on a rainy Saturday. Ordered my usual which is an Oreo Blast. I love that the toppings are unlimited! I usually get Oreo blast with condensed milk, cheesecake bites, and mochi on top. Although prices have raised, I still find it worth it and all of the locations I've been to are great!
google avatar

Brandi P.

Yelp
For sure it's all about the hype! Love that this are open until 11pm $11.50 a bowl Have. Cute outdoor seating and bench inside to wait for your rolls They have a large flavor selection of ice cream rolls and an option of unlimited toppings Came on a Sunday night at 9pm, place was packed. Took 5 minutes to order and 20 minutes to make the rolls They have 3 stations where they make the rolls and call you up for your toppings

Luke N.

Yelp
The ice cream here is the REAL deal. No where else has good rolled ice cream like this place. The service here is top notch as well. The patio lighting is super cute too. 10/10 best place to get ice cream late night!

Yelp
Finally got a chance to come back to Icicles after 3 years! I used to love coming here as a teen, then eating my ice cream while shopping in the local stores. I stopped by last week and there was no one in the store. There were no customers and no one at the register, so I was a bit confused. The lights were dim too, so I thought the store might've been closed but unlocked? After a few minutes a worker came out from the back and took my order. I ordered the ube rolled ice cream with a TON of toppings. I love the fresh strawberries and bananas, it just goes so well with any flavor. The ice cream tasted great, just as I remember! The cheesecake bites are great toppings as well! I've always liked how they never skimp out on toppings at Icicles. Overall, the ice cream is still great and I got to relive my childhood shopping in Willow Glen while eating rolled ice cream.
google avatar

Johanna C.

Yelp
Its alright. Expensive! $54 for 4 people. Complaint- staff should really wear hair nets. They are looking down while making the icecream. Hair could fall into our desert. no inside dining. outside dining only
google avatar

Mitzy M.

Yelp
Tasty tasty tasty! We came in here on a cold Monday night so it was obviously empty. But my taste buds don't care if it's cold, I wanted ice cream! We got the peanut butter/banana combo with brownies and oreo on top. This was my first icicles experience, and it was DEEEElicious. I shared mine and wish I had one on my own, but was the right thing to do (lol). Next time I would definitely get more toppings since it's included in the price. Only downside is $12/cup. I get goods & labor increases, but man that's steep!

Uriyah S.

Yelp
the ice cream is great I would recommend the cereal killer fruity pebbles. the store smells like mold and spoiled milk and there is no customer service but the ice cream makes up for it.

valeria g.

Yelp
Ordered off DoorDash and first time they got my order wrong. I ordered the teas me and I got what I think was just Thai? I luckily got DoorDash credit so I just ordered a different ice cream with the credit, this time I ordered the matcha berry with NO strawberries because I'm allergic and because they don't have an ice cream with JUST matcha. It arrives and I see these FAT CHUNKS of strawberries. I'm SO lucky I noticed the strawberry and didn't eat it but it's like they PURPOSELY put SO MANY strawberries even tho I ordered no strawberries????? For a mistake to happen once is whatever but TWICE?! From the SAME store?! Are employees not reading the tickets or smt???? Start reading the mf tickets PLS

Will P.

Yelp
Whoever made my shake, thanks. It sucked. This isn't even the right shake. Poured chocolate syrup with chocolate ice cream and literal sand in my shake. Not to mention gave me a small cup when the shakes are one tall size. Tastes like chocolate milk mixed with ice and sand. I use to love this place really going down hill with who they hire. Last week they put a broken ice cream scooper in my shake with metal shards.
google avatar

Julie P.

Yelp
We ordered #20 ~ cheesecake with condense milk, Nutella with condense milk and a self made boba drink. The cheesecake was too dense. I felt like I was eating straight up cheesecake with milk. I love cheesecake but I wish it tasted more like ice cream. The Nutella one was good. It tasted like ice cream with nutella and banana - pretty yummy. The $8 self made boba drink wasn't worth it. I didn't do a good job. I had some boba, strawberry jelly and mango jelly with mango syrup and jasmine milk tea. But it didn't taste very good.

Yelp
My girlfriend visited San Jose and wanted to get some ice cream. I haven't been here in a while but decided to take her here because of the cool rolled ice cream concept. I came during the weekday, and it wasn't busy at all, which was surprising. (Usually a long line) I ordered Strawberry fantasy ($11.95), with graham crackers and condensed milk. The graham crackers give the ice cream a crunchy texture which I enjoy. You can also get unlimited topping! I got condensed milk (a must), mochi, strawberries, bananas, and sprinkles. Good ice cream but is quite expensive. The last time I remember, the employees called your name so you could watch them make your ice cream. I was bummed because my girlfriend couldn't watch them roll her ice cream, maybe because of COVID restrictions. Good ice cream but is quite expensive.

Sarah Y.

Yelp
The place smelled bad and they don't clean the thing they roll ice cream on so you can taste the previous order.
google avatar

Elisa R.

Yelp
This was my first time trying rolled ice cream. There is a wide selection of traditional and unique flavors-- I tried the thai ice cream with condensed milk drizzle, and it was a perfect thai tea flavor but rich and creamy. Service was quick and efficient with large portions. There is a section at the end where you can choose which ever toppings you want; they aren't individually priced, which is nice. However, I wish there was an option for a smaller size that was less expensive, I understand that it's labor intensive but $11 is just a lot to pay when you're just looking for a little cup of ice cream. Overall, good experience, pretty overpriced, but fun to watch the employees use the ice-block-thingies. Not sure if I would come back since I could get the same amount of ice cream for $4 across the street.
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
We love coming here on a hot day. The only thing we dislike about this place is the price. They've raised it so much since they first opened to the point where it's not even worth it. I get that labor is expensive and it's hard work but it's a little out of our price range. So now we only come here on special occasion. Also, the wait can be really long since they have make the ice cream roll right then and there. Other than that, the ice cream is good. I try different ones but my wife's favorite is the strawberry fantasy.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday evening. Only two parties in front of us and still hadn't ordered after 20 minutes! The one screen, electronic ordering system isn't working very well. Not to mention them blasting inappropriate music with children coming in for ice cream. Ended up leaving with nothing.
google avatar

Alyssa P.

Yelp
Tried Icicles for the first time on Friday night, and they were very busy. There's a line to place your order with the cashier inside, then you are asked to wait outside while they prepare. They then call you back in to let them know what toppings you want. It seemed like our order was sitting there for a little before we were called in as our ice cream rolls were already starting to melt and they were no longer rolls anymore. They had run out of the flavor I initially wanted that night, so I opted for the Wake Me Up with crushed Oreos and cheesecake bites on top. Although I thought it was good, it was quite expensive, and the wait was pretty long. Definitely check in on Yelp for $1 off!

Yelp
Just had a very confusing and frustrating experience at icicles. My cousins and I went in a group of 7 to get icIcles. We arrive at the store at about 10:40pm. The store closes at 11 and there's a bit of a line, but we figure we should be able to order before it closes. However, one of the icicles employees comes up to us and says "hey, if you make sure that no one else comes after you, we will comp your order". The younger kids get excited about this, but the rest of us figure it's too good to be true since there's so many of us. I'm still not sure why this was something that was offered to us in the first place; regardless, we told anyone who joined the line after us that they were no longer accepting customers. We reach the kiosk about 5 minutes before the store closes and start ordering on the computer. However, we are stopped by the same employee as before, who instead manually writes down each of our orders on ice cream cups. Then, after conferring with the manager, he informs us that they can only comp one of our ice creams. We will have to pay for the other 6 after we get the food, since the employee had already manually taken our order. While this was slightly disappointing, we didn't mind because we were originally planning to buy our own ice cream anyway. However, it's important to note that because of this mix up, our orders were never inputted into the kiosk. We were then told to wait for our orders to come through. Around 11:35, we receive the one free order that we were promised. A different employee then asks us if we were waiting on anything else. I tell him that we still have 6 orders that haven't come through yet. I explained the situation; we have 6 ice cream orders that were manually entered that we hadn't yet paid for. However, the employee we spoke to earlier was nowhere to be found and could not corroborate our story. The second employee said that we did not have an order entered through a kiosk, and when we asked if we could re-enter our order because of the mix-up, he refused, saying their store was now closed. When we argued about having originally made our order when the store was open, he said that we were lying, and that based on the time stamps of the previous orders that did go through on the kiosk (the latest of which was 10:55pm), there was no way we actually ordered on time. Here's where I started to get frustrated. Not only did we arrive at the kiosk with a good FIVE MINUTES to place our order, we also were told MULTIPLE TIMES that we would be the last order of the night. The only reason our order was not on the kiosk was because we were SPECIFICALLY TOLD not to enter it. None of us ASKED for free ice cream; we were perfectly willing to buy 7 ice creams before this whole situation happened. My eight year old cousins were incredibly disappointed as well; this was their first time ever trying rolled up ice cream, and in the end neither of them got their order. I'm not sure what went wrong here: whether it was the store's confusing policy of giving away free ice cream, the kiosk system, miscommunication between employees, not cutting people off soon enough before closing time, or maybe just misinformation from the original employee we spoke to. I do, however, hope that this gets resolved soon, as I am someone who frequents this specific icicles location, and I would like to continue doing so.

Yelp
We ordered Basic Vanilla Custard flavor and Chocolate Fudge flavor ice creams. Both flavors were delicious

Yelp
No service, no cash, no acknowledgement upon entering establishment. $42.50 for 3 ice creams--I think not!! Went to Willow Glen Creamery and received 3 ice creams for $14.00, served with a smile!

Yelp
This is the first time I've had rolled ice cream in over 4 years! Crazy to believe, but it's true. Decided to stop by Icicles to give it a try! This is my second time, the first time was at their SF location. TeasMe ($13.50) Includes matcha and thai tea rolled ice cream with whipped cream and cheesecake bites! I love matcha and thai tea, so why not order a combination of both? I felt as if I could taste the thai tea more than the matcha. I wasn't a huge fan of this flavor, I think ordering it separately as matcha and one as thai tea would've tasted better. I did like how creamy it was and the cheesecake bites were delicious! Other items pictured: Baesic ($13.50) Includes custard vanilla and various toppings! Overall, I do like Icicles, but next time I'd probably order something more fruity from their dairy free menu! I think my rolls would have tasted better if it was just one flavor and not both meshed together. Still great for rolled ice cream and I like that they have a huge variety of toppings and drizzles!

MUST ORDER #1 with Cheesecake + sprinkles MIX IN , whip cream as a topping and have Hector make it. His rolls come out so smooth and perfectly!!

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday afternoon where there were 2 parties in front of me and I literally waited 20 mins to just get my order taken. This location is ran by teens who don't even acknowledge you until you reach the cashier. I understand that they were probably overwhelmed with the amount of orders they had to process but there were only 2-3 other parties already waiting for their orders with 2 workers making the ice cream rolls. However, it would be nice to have the bare minimum of professionalism or welcomeness. They didn't even acknowledge the wait time or warn us that the wait would be a while. I had to ask for a refund because I had somewhere to go by the time they were making my order and I wouldn't be able to eat it on the go, which was almost ~40 mins from the time I got there. I would suggest to just go to another ice cream place near by or their other locations.

Yelp
Hey you need to train your employees better they are super mean and rude and I pay good money and pay to get extra stuff mixed in and on top and they never add it and when ask for it they say no or just ignore me they are very rude and I'm going to make a complaint against them and the company and store I want to speak to a supervisor higher up so somebody better contact me because I'm very frustrated and mad because I pay a lot of money for extra stuff and don't get it and rude service as well I want to make a complaint against them and the shop and company too

Yelp
Their rolled ice cream was so delicious, creamy and filling. We tried their "All Fudged Up" (which was perfect for a chocolate lover like me) & "Strawberry Fantasy" (my fav fruit) Plus, you can add all your favorite toppings at the end!! Finally, if you're looking for a drink to top off all the sweetness, then Cater's world is the way to go! I love that you have so many topping options and they have a clear view of your order being made.

Yelp
I've only been here once, and mercifully there wasn't much of a line as it was during the mid-afternoon on a Friday. I would not want to be here during their busy hours. So, I always wanted to try one of the places where they make the ice cream on the cold metal plate, scrape it into rolls, and arrange them vertically in a cup. I believe I saw it on YouTube in Thailand or something, and it looked really cool. Well, now I can say I've tried it, and it was even better than I expected. I ordered two ice creams, a fudge one and an Oreo one. No not both for me. It was entertaining to watch the... ice cream baristas?... doing their little chopping and sliding and rolling show. I mean, entertaining to a degree. It's the kind of thing where you watch it once, and it's fine, but I think after that I'd rather just get my ice cream. That brings me to the biggest issue - it takes forever to get your ice cream. Like 5+ minutes between them starting the process and you actually getting something. There were also only 2 creamaristas working, so if you ordered 3 things, I guess you're waiting a while. God help big groups... Now, a good thing - all toppings are unlimited and free. That's awesome. However, this comes at a cost of $12 per ice cream. That is definitely not cheap. In fact, that's some luxury ice cream right there. I get you're paying for labor too, but that's still pricey for what would equate to 2 scoops at Baskin Robbins. Parking in Willow Glen of course is tricky, but fortunately there's a pretty big lot behind Icicles. Is it a pay lot? I don't know, I didn't pay. But you might want to confirm. They also take credit cards, which is nice. Overall, I see this as a good date spot. Not really a group spot unless you don't mind your group getting service two at a time. But the ice cream is very good.

Yelp
Out of all the desserts in the world, my husband's go to dessert is ice cream. Out of all the ice cream shops we have been to and it's been a lot, my husband's favorite store is Icicles. The ice cream here is just amazing and we love the matcha flavor especially. My husband and I each ordered our own delicious bowl of ice cream. I ordered a mix of Thai and matcha ice cream with condensed milk drizzled on top with mochi, strawberries, and roasted marshmallow. Get the roasted marshmallow: it's so good! Service was wonderful and the server helped add a cap and gave us a bag to put our two bowls together. With COVID safe protocol, there can be a maximum of four people inside at one time and once you finish ordering, you'll wait outside until your ice cream is ready and come back inside to choose your toppings! Great protocol and great service overall.

Yelp
The strawberry fantasy is my go-to, it's very delicious! I also love how my little ones can watch the workers make the ice-cream.

Yelp
Was really excited to try this when rolled ice cream first came to Sj! (Pre Covid) Service: 4/5, Very patient and helpful, although it was busy. ~Ice cream~ Mai thai: 3/5, A bit too sweet and the lychee topping syrup made it even sweeter so it was disappointing. I also wasn't a fan of the mochi although it was pretty. Overall, it was super sugary. Strawberry fantasy: My cousin actually got this but I didn't try it.

Yelp
I last visited Icicles before the pandemic & some things have changed. The employees didn't greet my daughter or I when we walked in. I then noticed people entering their order at a kiosk. I get that it saves time but it would've been nice for someone to direct me to it. Last time I was here, we ordered with an employee. The next thing that was disappointing was the price! $12.50! I guess the pandemic is to blame. I did like the huge menu & all the creative combos. It's cool to see them mix & roll the ice cream. I will say that although it was pricey, it was a very generous portion. It also came with unlimited toppings. We'll be back again but probably sporadically.
