"After shuttering Reeds, his reliably spot-on new American dinner spot in Maplewood, Matthew Daughaday took a year off before returning as executive chef of the 21C, the most aesthetic hotel in the city. He oversees banquet operations, a daytime cafe and coffee program, and the hotel’s heart: the chic, Spanish-rooted Idol Wolf. Built upon traditional pintxos, the menu is respectful in its refined, soulful execution of classic dishes. Items like pan con tomate and patatas bravas may not be revolutionary selections, but here they’re transportive. The bar program, led by the clever Dane Davis, features cocktails that are experimental and strikingly delicious, keeping the bar crowd loyal and lively, no matter what day of the week." - Holly Fann, Joel Crespo

This place was so beautifully decorated in vintage old castle style. Perfect place for a date night! All dishes were well decorated and tasted amazing. All dishes that we had were great. I love the chorizo roasted hen of the woods the most. They also gave cotton candy at the end which was a cute surprise! The service was excellent. We had a great time there. Highly recommended!!

Amazing food & drinks. We went for my husbands birthday and couldn’t have asked for a better meal. The service was impeccable. We even ordered non-alcoholic cocktails and they brought us out champagne for the birthday but non-alcoholic! So sweet & attentive. The paella & almond cake were the highlights of the meal!

Google
Well that was ridiculously good and I'll be back. The cocktail menu was insane. I had the chorizo fat washed marg and the hen of the woods and polenta may be my new favorite food. The shrimp was average, but I have nothing bad to say. The octopus and potatoes was also really quite nice. I'm really difficult to please, so that says a lot. Also the service really was top notch. Ryan was my server, and he knocked it out of the park.

It was my partner's birthday, so I requested to put some cute lettering on the dessert dish, but it seemed like they didn't check my request at all😢 We ordered gambas, steak, and lamb. They all tasted so good and was worth the money, but the server tried to take away a dish I was still working on and didn't bring us new fork/knife for the dessert. I would go again just for the food but not for the special occasions.

Lovely experience at Idol Wolf during my stay at 21C Museum Hotel. Had a variety of dishes but my favorite was the “chorizo” roasted hen of the woods. It was something new and I was pleasantly surprised once I tasted it! If you want to try something new, I would recommend that dish. One thing to note for the market steak is that the sauce is sweet (tasted like a deeply caramelized onion sauce). The blueberry mule was a citrusy, sweet choice for a non-alcoholic drink. For dessert, I would 100% recommend the Tarta de Santiago, which is an almond cake served with coffee ice cream on the side. Our server, Lucy, was also extremely welcoming and lovely!

We went to Idol Wolf about a month ago on a Saturday at 5:30. We knew it was a risk to go without a reservation, yet we were pleased to know that the front room is open for walk-ins only. The downside about the front room is that it’s very loud. This is due to the high ceilings and decor wall that separates the front room from the main dining room. Overall the athletic is really lovely but the noise level really took away from the atmosphere. The table we sat at had one side as a booth and the other as a chair. Neither were particularly comfortable after the long wait for our meal. The cocktails were imaginative and super tasty. I got the Oh, Behave cocktail- TWICE. Definitely recommend! The bar was super backed up, even though when we arrived the whole restaurant (front and main room combined) was barely 1/6 full. To eat we decided on the Fried Cauliflower, “Chorizo” Roasted Hen of the Woods, Beef Tartar, and the Seafood Paella. All portions were a tad small for the price but the taste was spot on. The Fried Cauliflower was perfectly flash fried and still kept its integrity (crunch) while feeling indulgent. The mushroom dish could be doubled in size and served with greens to be an absolutely remarkable entree (dreaming here). The “chorizo” spice was such a perfect contrast to the rich, crispy, and creamy masa cake. The hen of the woods mushroom was cooked to perfection. To be honest, I dreamed about this dish for many weeks after our visit. My partner found the thickness of the grilled toast under the tartar to be a bit distracting and hard to eat. The seafood paella was absolutely delicious! The seafood was cooked to perfection and although the dish needed a touch of salt (which was provided as the meal was delivered) it was really delicious. We both felt the price was a bit extreme though. We ended the meal with churros and those were the only thing we wouldn’t order again. They were not cooked long enough and the batter was not authentic (based on the taste). There was also barely any cinnamon sugar on the outside. Overall, I feel prices should be lowered by about $2 on each item but that and the slow service aren’t enough to keep us from coming back. We will be back! If a few things change, I could see us coming twice a month rather than once every few months (we live 8 min away). I recommend making reservations and enjoying a night in the lovely remodeled 21c. Hotel (previously a YMCA).

Normally hotel’s own restaurants are nothing to shout about. I.e. same mediocre menu items. But this one is purely Spanish (Europe)theme which is why we tried it. The sangrias were very tasty and the food were so well presented and taste so authentic! Tried different tapas (the Serrano hame with home made chips, Chorizo spice butter with mushroom were Devine) as well Seafood paella . For the price , the squid should be a little bigger, less on the salt but took us back to Barcelona paella! Our main server was very good but one individual (young girl) delivery just dump the food on the table. But overall will return for special occasion!

I came in for Brunch right after a very hard workout. Hadbrhe Breakfast Crossaunt, scrambled egg and bacon with a side order of fries. After my meal, took a walk around the art museum. 1st time here and I had a pretty nice time. Staff was professional. Shout out to Diamond! Extremely kind and helpful! I definitely will be back. It was a Sunday so parking was on the street. Meters are free. I'm always hesitant in coming downtown due to safety concerns. However, I felt safe that day.

Yelp
This place has been on my list to try for quite some time. I got to go with a fellow foodie so I know we were going to have an amazing evening. I came early and sat at the bar. I ordered a very delicious cocktail and some patatas bravas to start out with. The potatoes were seasoned to perfection and the flavor was unmatched. My friend arrived and we got seated quickly. This place was packed for a Tuesday. I highly recommend getting reservations. We ordered the famous Chorizo Roasted Hen of the Woods, the Croquettas and the Gambas Al Ajillo. Everything was absolutely amazing. The food was unreal and the flavors were out of this world. The chef and staff here know what they're doing. We needed the night with two desserts because we were wanting more flavors and they didn't disappoint at all. Amazing restaurant!

Maleewan K.

Yelp
We celebrated our anniversary with a fantastic dinner at The Idol Wolf, and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is located on the first floor of a chic, modern hotel, beautifully decorated with a few unique penguin and wolf sculptures that add character to the space. The service was excellent--our waiter was attentive, detail-oriented, and made sure we had a great experience. The food was delicious. Our standout dishes were the pan con tomate, meatballs, and squid ink pasta. Every bite was packed with flavor! The ambiance was private and romantic, perfect for a special occasion. I also appreciated their flavorful non-alcoholic drinks--so refreshing and well-crafted. For dessert, I highly recommend the churros with chocolate dips; they were the perfect sweet ending. To top it off, we were surprised with complimentary cotton candy, which was such a thoughtful and fun touch. If I could, I'd give this place 4.5 stars. We had an amazing evening and can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Fare / $$ / Spanish Fusion Atmosphere / Social, Trendy, Modern Standout Dish / Squid Ink Pasta, Spanish Caesar, Jamon Croquettas Perfect For / Date Night, Night Out, Groups Overview / From the design of the restaurant to the presentation of the food, Idol Wolf delivers a curated experience. Set within the 21C Museum Hotel, the artful energy is amplified by the creative dishes. It's also a fantastic place to socialize with posh locals. For something different in STL, I highly recommend giving Idol Wolf a try. Service / Thanks to Rizia & Will for a fantastic dining experience

Yelp
Visited Idol Wolf as part of our birthday festivities and it was top tier. Located inside the 21C Museum the space is beautiful and would recommend walking through your and specially the upper floor to view the art work. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed. The service was wonderful. Since we're celebrating a birthday they served us two glasses of champagne. We also ordered the Negroni and the Chorizo Margarita both were incredible. For food we went the Tapas route. We ordered the Spanish Caesar Salad, Octopus and Potatoes, Patatas Bravas, Jamon Croquettas, Albondigas, Gambas Al Ajillo. Every dish was flavorful and a good portion. We ended that night with their Tarta de Santiago which was such a delicate and delicious end to our meal. This brought me back to my time in Spain and I can wait to be eat here again.

Yelp
So let's start with ambiance. Winning!! Food!! Yum!! I had 1/2 of the eggs Benedict. Delicious yogurt. Unbelievable and healthy. But the drinks!!! A truly delightful experience. I will be back. For brunch!!! The staff was beautiful inside and out!!!

Mishell H.

Yelp
Tried this place last weekend with a friend. Love these kinds of restaurants because you can try so many things. We both ordered the red sangria and split the octopus and potatoes, the tuna toast, pan de tomate and jamon croquettas. Server was very friendly and assisted us with our food choices. Food came out pretty quick. They also give you cotton candy when you get your check! This restaurant is pretty cool looking. It is located at the 21c museum hotel and has some very unique art all around it. Def will go back to try more food!

Lillian L.

Yelp
The menu here is so delicious and unlike dishes we've had before. Half of the menu is tapas (smaller dishes) which are meant to be shared so you can try a bit of everything. Drinks - blackberry & sage + oh, behave - both were great! Octopus & potato - 10/10. Super tender octopus. Paired with the crispy potatoes was chef's kiss. Also came with a bit of a sweet sauce that combined so well together. Corn & sobrasada toast - also 10/10. This was my favorite dish mainly because I love goat cheese and that's what the spread tasted like. Generous amount of sauce on top and toast was crispy in all the right spots. Seafood paella - 9/10, although still super delicious. It has a strong, but fresh, seafood taste! This was the main dish and super necessary in my opinion. This was what I wanted to try this restaurant for and it did not dissapoint. Dessert - we tried the churros and chocolate sauce. While it was delicious, it didn't blow me out of the water. We also got complimentary cotton candy at the end which was unexpected but a cute surprise. I liked the juxtaposition of cotton candy in a fancy restaurant. Everything was just the right amount of flavor and seasoning. They did an amazing job at elevating dishes without making them too over the top. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fancier night out, whether that be a romantic date or to celebrate a loved one!

Elise H.

Yelp
This place is absolutely gorgeous. It feels like you're in a different city with the decor. The drinks are absolutely amazing especially the sangria. We ordered the whole menu and loved everything especially the tomato toast. Churros were out of this world and tasted like the ones I've had in Spain! The server was amazing and gave us tips on how to order because it is all tapas style. Would absolutely come back.

Alex R.

Yelp
Fabulous night out! First time to a 21c hotel and it was such a vibe! Fun and cool artistic accents throughout. We didn't have much trouble with getting a reservation for a weeknight but I have heard the weekends can be busier. Some great options on the cocktail list, including some NA mocktails and NA wines. Ordering style may vary depending on if you opt for one of the larger plate options, but the tapas and bocaditos are intended for sharing. We decided to do all tapas! Must order items imo are the patatas bravas and grilled hen of the woods. The patatas were a smashed style which is different than other versions I have had and were phenomenal! The grilled hen of the woods was also amazing, the mushroom paired really well with the masa cake. The Spanish Caesar also had a unique twist with the paprika dressing. The squid ink pasta was well done and flavorful with a pesto-y flavor influence but the chili oil did give it a bit more heat than I was expecting. The Almond cake was good but the coffee ice cream was over the top...super creamy! I would have been happy with just a double scoop of that with the nuts! Will definitely be back!

Danielle A.

Yelp
10/10 dinner experience this evening! My friend and I both had the Lofts of Beetopia cocktail which was well crafted. We then decided to split 2 tapas and 2 from the sea options. From the tapas, the Patatas Brava and the Chorizo Roasted Hen of the Woods were both excellent and highly recommended by our server, Lucy. We then split the Squid Ink Pasta & the Gambas Al Ajillo which were perfectly portioned for all we were splitting. We finished dinner surprised by complimentary cotton candy! Again our waitress Lucy was exceptional in helping with recommendations & checking in to make sure everything was great. Very aesthetically pleasing spot, would definitely come back!

Wanda H.

Yelp
So, came back for brunch... The Huevos Roto with Fried Pork Belly was delicious. Found that eating out in the bar area was much quieter, so conversation could be had. Would have liked to share an appetizer or dessert at the table, but neither are offered on the brunch menu. A real shame IMO.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! Nestled inside 21C hotel, it's got everything. We paid for street parking, but the valet guy told us you can leave your car with valet and the restaurant will validate. As you walk into the hotel, the ambiance is just phenomenal. The decor is super cute and chic. There is an art gallery on the 2nd floor to check out. I would highly recommend a reservation (through OpenTable). We were greeted by a very friendly and warm gentleman (Jack I think was his name). We needed to wait about 5 min before we could be seated, so we checked out the bar. The bartenders were on it! Drinks were awesome and service was spectacular. The view to the sunset outside was nice too. Once seated, we were promptly greeted by our server (Adler). The entire service he was so warm and friendly. He was super super amazing! Honestly, he was one of the best servers we've had in any restaurant in a LONG time! (We told him so!) My boyfriend ordered paella and my guest and I ordered Market Steak. We had a couple of appetizers as well. Because it was my birthday celebration, I got a chocolate cheesecake with a raspberry sorbet. Everything tasted top notch & heavenly! Part of what impressed me about this establishment was how all the servers helped one another. For example, we had finished an appetizer and another server saw the empty dishes and came by to pick them up. Our drinks were almost empty and yet another server asked if we wanted more. There was a lady who was serving the food so servers could focus on the dining room. This truly was an amazing experience!! Thank you!!!

Janet C.

Yelp
I ordered seafood paella for dinner. Rice was not all the way cooked and it's very salty. However, the clam and the shrimp were good.

Kacie S.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant, absolutely gorgeous, I felt like I wasn't in stl as soon as I stepped foot into the hotel where this restaurant is located. The waiter thoroughly explained any questions we had about the menu and really went in depth about the flavors that were to be included in each dish. I can't say anything tasted bad. The half smoked chicken was so juicy and tasty, I shared this and the octopus with my friend and it was enough to fill us. The octopus was cut up cubed which was nice because I wasn't sure what to picture when I ordered it! We ordered the churros as desert which were nice and crunchy , and it came with a complimentary sorbet and cotton candy, YUM!

Jade H.

Yelp
After visiting the 21c hotel for a wedding, it was nice to visit here for dinner at Idol Wolf. They're featuring a Spanish inspired menu. The cocktails were delicious. The Viva Verde had so many components that made each sip an enriching experience while the Kalimotxo was an easy sipper. We ended the night with a bottle of red, Ever Seeking (DOC), and that had an easy lighter finish. For eating, we ordered the tuna on toast and a slice of the chocolate cheesecake. Both were delicious! Again, I think Idol Wolf is nailing the combos of many components and blending them well. It is such a vibe from the first step in, to the bar, through the exhibits, and to the dining. Definitely will go again!

Kelsie R.

Yelp
I'd had Idol Wolf on my list for awhile - the beautiful photos of the restaurant and idea of unique Spanish tapas drew me in and it lived up to my hopes Tried: patatas bravas, roasted cauliflower, chorizo roasted hen of the woods, tuna on toast, squid ink pasta, albondigas (meatballs), beef cheek empanadas, sobrasada toast, tarta da santiago, churros, oh Behave cocktail, jungle bird n/a mocktail Loved: the tapas style. With a good group, you can share everything, and get to try so much food! Highlights for tapas for me were the chorizo hen of the woods, the roasted cauliflower (did not expect to love that but I did) with the dipping sauce, and the sobrasada toast. Our waitress was amazing, and was great helping us throughout the evening pick dishes. The decor and vibe of Idol Wolf was unmatched, such a beautiful place and the patio looked fantastic too. Liked: the bar service was slow at times, but our server got us some cava because it was slow.

Alexis W.

Yelp
Inside the cutest boutique hotel that also houses a museum is the best Spanish-inspired restaurant. Make sure to make a reservation as it was packed!! The tapas are perfect for sharing. Although you may not want to because they're that good. We had the tinned sardines (the crackers are warm and fresh-baked), cauliflower, patatas bravas to start. For main we tried the octopus and potato, squid ink pasta and romesco soup. Our server Ryan was excellent and took our dietary needs seriously. The kitchen was able to accommodate a family member who was vegan. The cotton candy with the check was a sweet end to our night!

Michael B.

Yelp
Damn. I really enjoyed this place. This felt like a place I'd come back for my bday, for date night, for a random Tuesday in October, basically every situation. Came in on a Wednesday night around 7pm for dinner. There were five of us in our party. The place is stunning. It's in a building that has an art museum on the top floor, a bar, a breakfast spot in the bottom of the building, and a hotel attached to it. The whole atmosphere was on point. The star of the show was the drinks. I came away tipsy from the sangria which was made with brandy which was delicious. They had other concoctions that looked amazing too. The food didn't match the price. It was good. But I expected it to be a bit better. Either way, I think it's a dope place to come for a romantic dinner. But you will be paying a pretty penny. There isn't much of a dress code neither. Ambience is great. Low light but there's a lot of people inside so the voices bounce off of the walls. You can also opt to sit at the bar which is separated from the dining floor. Bathrooms are co ed and features several stalls. Don't be weird. Be an adult. Just go and do your business and then wash your hands and leave.

Jessica B.

Yelp
I love the concept of Idol wolf. Fun artisan drinks with upscale food to match. I do not eat pork but much of the menu had pork infused into the offerings. This was true with the Caesar salad that I didn't notice until I ordered it. The shaved egg on top gave the salad a nice creamy flavor that was complimented by the homemade dressing. The shrimp were perfectly cooked but I found the sauce a bit oily and heavy. It was served with toasted bread which is meant to sop up the sauce. The best part of the meal was the chocolate cheesecake. It is truly delightful. The rhubarb compote is a perfect accompaniment and balances out the heaviness of the cheesecake.

Samantha K.

Yelp
What a treat! Took my dad and stepmom here for Father's Day and it was such a great special occasion place. The space is beautiful architecturally and the decor is unique and mixed media and super cool. Lots of things to look at as you're sipping your chorizo margarita. Our server was super patient and answered our millions of questions and checked in enough so we felt cared for but not hovered over. We got A LOT of things but I think my favorites were the mushrooms, tuna on toast, and paella. Not an inexpensive meal, but a really fun place for a celebration.

Fontaine C.

Yelp
Idol Wolf is a newly opened Spanish restaurant offering tapas at the 21c museum hotel. It is really beautiful within the space. Service is top notch. Servers constantly come over to refill water I have been here two times. Both times require reservations far in advance. Here are my recommendations: 1. The seafood paella is the best on the menu. It's prepared and presented very well. 2. The almond cake with coffee ice cream is really good. Love that! My friends ordered a few other dishes like squid ink pasta. Unfortunately, they are overly seasoned with salt. It could just be just an off day. I will try Idol Wolf again!

Jenny H.

Yelp
Phenomenal! If you have a special occasion or just want a night out that is glamorous and fun, then this is the perfect place. Spanish cuisine. Every single dish was great, our server was knowledgeable and have is just the right amount of attention, and it is the most beautiful and unique lobby I've ever seen. The cocktails were excellent, too.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Outstanding meal. We celebrated our anniversary here and we couldn't have picked a better spot. We were seated in a lovely table tucked away from the dining room. Our server was Collin and he did a great job. The food was stellar. Each dish was excellent and I don't think you can go wrong. Loved the octopus dish, the shrimp dish, and the squid ink pasta. Also loved the almond cake dessert with coffee ice cream, So many options on the wine list as well. And can't say enough about the ambiance of the restaurant. Make sure to get a picture in the wallpapered staircase!

Monica R.

Yelp
Foods was delicious. Love the tapas concept. Shareable plates so more items can be sampled. The choice of cocktails, sangria & wine was incredible. Our server was wonderful & friendly, she guided us as first timers on what to order Note: the paella is a must! Can't wait to return to try what we missed

Elijah R.

Yelp
Awesome food, desert, great customer service, and the wine was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants.

Andrea J.

Yelp
Cool space, INCREDIBLY loud at brunch, I had a very hard time hearing conversation at my table. Food was good, it was busy and the waitstaff were clearly overwhelmed. I'll try this place for dinner, brunch was good but wished I'd looked around at other tables to see what they got.

Nicole E.

Yelp
Had one of the most amazing meals of my life here! The food was excellent- we ordered several dishes and split them amongst a group of 5. Our server was amazing and so funny and friendly. We enjoyed the live art exhibit that allowed for a giant orange penguin to sit at our table. All and all- a wonderful evening!

Ebuwa E.

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. We made reservations for dinner on Thanksgiving, showed up on time (a few minutes early is on time in my opinion), and were promptly seated. And that's all the service we got. Sitting down in a restaurant for nearly 30 minutes. No server stopped by to make introductions, provide a menu, or offer water. All the surrounding tables received service continuously. And these adjacent servers refused to make eye contact when we tried to grab their attention. We got up and asked to speak to the manager. The team member at the hostess desk made a facial expression I refuse to describe here - that's how awful it was. Eventually, Adder, the manager appeared and was not helpful at all. No apologies, no attempts to make things right, nothing. Thank you for ruining thanksgiving dinner for a couple who did not have the opportunity to travel to family this year.

Alonzo A.

Yelp
Definitely glad we had a chance to party with our buddy Frank the penguin on this trip to Idol Wolf. Located inside the brand new and immaculate 21c hotel, this is a great spot to eat. Seafood paella was great to share and was a showstopper. The pan con tomate with Jamon was also great. Service was a but awkward and the flow was a bit off but didn't ruin the experience. Restaurant is definitely worth a visit and they have a beautiful bar to chill at as well.

Audrey B.

Yelp
Mixed opinion about Idol Wolf! Ambiance-wise, it's beautiful. Unique decor, pretty lighting, tall ceilings and unique seating, neat art installations in the entrance. The bar is really nice too. The entire place is very pleasing to look at. Service was good, our server was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu options. My only complaint in this area was that the different water options offered threw me off so I responded "still water" not realizing that this meant bottled water which would cost extra. I don't know why you'd pay for water in STL when our tap water is excellent. The food looked great and had beautiful plating but unfortunately vegetarian options were minimal. The plate were tapas style, so it wasn't really possible for me to share tapas with folks since they were mostly meat. I also didn't really agree that soup counts as tapas - is that really a dish that people communally eat out of the same bowl? I have a similar opinion about the salad as a tapas item. The server did help me choose a dish and it was good, but I thought overpriced for the simple ingredients it was made from. The prices were reasonable for high quality meats, but without the meat the price point is too high. We got "complimentary cotton candy" at the end which was a nice touch. It was orange flavored. I didn't get dessert, but my friends who did found the dessert underwhelming (albeit pretty). They mentioned that if they had known about the cotton candy, they probably wouldn't have gotten the dessert. We had fun checking out the art and taking some photos after dinner. If you're a fan of Spanish cuisine, and NOT a vegetarian, I would recommend.

Yelp
Idolwolf, located in the 21c Hotel, has been filling your social media feed and for good reason - not only is the food incredible, the decor makes it the perfect night out for any occasion! Reservations recommended. Valet or self-parking available. MY FAVS: Paella, Squid Ink Pasta, Patatas Bravas

Jess K.

Yelp
I've had Idol Wolf on my list to check out for the longest time and finally had a chance to visit. For 4 adults we started off with some Patatas Bravas, Pan Con Tomate, with Serrano ham. All of which were fantastic. Then we got few more small plates : sides to share: Hen of the woods, Grilled Broccolini, Croquetas, meat ball, and Beef cheek empanadas. For main we ordered paella which presented beautifully as expected and by this point we were pretty stuffed and had a good portion to take home. Over all experience was not bad with amazing food, however service was little disappointing and rather slow and they've made few errors (wrong item came out, and wrong wine). I am still giving 5 stars because it just could've been the staffing issue for the night and food was spectacular. Definitely best paella in town!

Nathan M.

Yelp
Idol Wolf is in the 21C hotel. It is best to get reservations if you want a table in the dining area. However, there were quite a few tables in the Lounge/Bar area which are on a first come first serve basis and also offers the full menu and has wait staff. The format is tapas, which for me is slang for pay a lot more for a lot less quantity. That said, my wife and I shared the Olives, Almonds and Fabada and absolutely loved every bit of it. Each dish was unique and flavorful. Idol Wolf executed tapas the best way I can imagine...small portions of unique and well conceived and executed dishes unlike anything else you've had. I want to spend a second on the Fabada, which is beans, blood sausage, and pork belly. The pork belly was the best I HAVE EVER HAD. It was not a large portion, so only a few bites each for my wife and I, but it was spectacular. Fully rendered inside and crispy on the outside. Combined with the beans and sausage it was quite a dish. They have a full bar so you can get a nice glass of wine, local beer on draft or any mixed drinks you can imagine. As an added bonus, after dinner we walked around the art gallery on the second floor of the hotel. You can't get that at other restaurants! My wife and I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Idol Wolf offers an incredible authentic Spanish food experience that's hard to find elsewhere. Nestled in a boutique hotel with a quirky and refreshing vibe, the setting perfectly complements the restaurant's unique charm. The menu features small, shareable tapas-style dishes, allowing you to explore a wide variety of flavors. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, offering a true taste of Spain. The staff is warm and welcoming, adding to the distinctive ambiance that makes Idol Wolf stand out. While it might be considered a hidden gem by some, it's clear that the locals have already discovered and fallen in love with this place. I know I'll be returning for another delightful experience at Idol Wolf.

Yelp
Just....wow! So glad I finally made it to idol wolf, and already cannot wait to go back. Pictures do not do this place justice. The bar area and dining room are absolutely gorgeous. As is the hotel it resides in. Absolutely loved exploring the art exhibits after dinner as well. We were greeted promptly by our server Amber who was phenomenal the whole night. She took time to explain things about the menu and was great at offering recommendations. We started with the pickled white anchovies which I was in love with! The kale salad was both fresh, and savory. We ordered the gambas al ajillo, the albondigas, and the empanadas. All of which were fantastic as well! Sadly, there was no room for dessert but this just gives me one more reason I'll be rushing back to idol wolf. The whole experience was amazing.

Yelp
We got to finally got to try out Idol wolf. They are definitely a popular spot that gets booked up for reservations at least 2-3 weeks ahead of time. So plan accordingly if you want to eat at a decent time! They are a tapas spot near the 21c art museum. It gives you an excuse to experience the art at the 22c art museum. They have art sprinkled throughout the establishment as well. Our sever was polite and patient with us. He explained their menu and his favorites. For drinks we go the PX old fashioned and the chorizo margarita. Both drinks were well made - highly recommend them! For food, we had the "chorizo" roasted hen of the woods. The flavors were excellent and the textures worked well that we didn't even realize it wasn't meat! We also tried the squid ink pasta. For mains, we got the Seafood Paella. It lived up to the hype! It is a made to order dish and will take 30 mins to make so if you want it for dinner be sure to order it early on. Their dessert was delicious as well! Parking can be a bit tricky so I suggest doing valet parking as they validate the parking at the restaurant. Looking forward to being back and trying the different options on the menu.

Yelp
I really want to give this place a 4 stars but think it should've be a bit better. I will definitely try it again and re-review. The atmosphere and the service were all excellent. I just felt that the food was bland, especially my tortilla. The mojo rojo sauce had flavor but it wasn't in the tortilla just a bit on the sides. The fries that were side on the other 2 plates were good but overly salted. I would recommend this place if someone was from out of town. But this will not be my first choice of breakfast, especially since it should be better at the price point it is.

Yelp
We came here during graduation week and it was excellent. Tapas restaurant inside a funky hotel. Cocktails were delicious. We started with Serrano ham, sardines, olives, pan con to are with manchego cheese. All really good Tapas. We then had Patatas Bravas which were outstanding. We got shrimp ajiilo, octopus, empanadas, hen of the woods, and the seafood paella. All very good. We skipped dessert as no flan on menu. Service was friendly but a bit spotty. Street parking available. The hotel has a weird modern unisex bathroom. Not my preference.

Yelp
I love tapas and Spanish food. My husband took me here to dinner because he knows I love tapas and Spanish food. I didn't even know this place existed even though it's close to the area that I've been recently frequenting due to work-related activities. He made reservations. We were seated immediately at a 2-person table. It was slightly small and would have been cramped if the nearby tables had patrons. Luckily, they didn't come until closer to the end of our meal. I'm boring so I got a cabernet sauvignon for my drink while my husband got an adventurous cocktail. I can't remember what it was but he liked it. Then we started with some warmed Spanish olives and some pickled white anchovies. We loved both of our starters. Quite pricey though for the portion but delicious, especially the anchovies! For our entrée, I ordered the pan roasted cod and my husband had the croquetas. Both were very delicious! For dessert, I couldn't really make up my mind between the flan and the churros so we got both. The churros were wonderfully fried with a chocolate sauce accompaniments and the flan was also so yummy. I took most of the flan home because I was too full to finish it. Don't worry, it was just as delicious when I ate it later that evening! This restaurant really did deliver and I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
We tried the Albondigas (pork and beef meatballs, Spanish tomato sauce & manchego) and the Sobrasada Toast (orange, goat cheese, union loafers toast) as well as a few other dishes. The toast was recommended by our server and it was amazing. The server said it was his favorite item on the menu and it did not disappoint. This restaurant is also worth visiting just for the beautiful art in the 21c hotel. Don't forget to look at the museum before leaving! It was great.

Yelp
Super quick and friendly service, waitress was knowledgeable about the menu. The decor inside is beautiful and the food was fresh and was not lacking for flavor. I would love to come back!

Yelp
Went for dinner on a Thursday evening, had reservations ahead of time. Restaurant was not too crowded, maybe two thirds full, moderately noisy. Wait staff were attentive and nice. Food seemed to take a little longer than expected but everything was hot and well prepared: papatas bravas, hen of the woods, pan con tomate, squid ink pasta, jamon croquettas. Portions modest as tapas are, but the unique and bold flavors of every dish make up for it. Definitely want to have at least a couple friends/family so you can try an assortment.

Yelp
Checked out this awesome new spot in downtown St. Louis - talk about vibes! The place is buzzing with an artsy, cool atmosphere that's so refreshing. From funky art pieces to a lively vibe, it's a whole mood. They're serving up Spanish-style tapas that seriously hit the spot. We dove into a bunch of dishes - and everything was bursting with those legit Spanish flavors. Sharing plates made it a fun feast with friends. The staff knew their stuff and were super friendly, adding to the good times. Overall, it was a blast. The combo of great vibes, artsy feels, and yummy tapas makes it a must-visit spot in downtown. Can't wait to go back for another round of deliciousness.

Yelp
We were disappointed in our first visit to this place. Yes the ambiance is very nice but our service and food were meh. We started with the Caesar salad which was really good! Best part of our meal. Beef cheek empanadas were good, very rich and kinda small. They are served with 2 sauces on the side. (Cilantro and pepper) The sauces were good. We then had the paella. Presentation was great. There were at least 8 muscles that were tasty but the rest of the dish was soooo salty. I had 1 spoonful of paella and that was it. We ended up taking 2/3 of it home but I couldn't eat any of the leftovers either. Grace, our waitress, had asked us how we liked it and we were honest. All she said was she would pass it on to the chef. Then it seemed like she was in a hurry to get us out of there. I have read that people receive cotton candy as a dessert but we didn't- not sure why. I will give this place another go but won't be in a hurry to try it again.

Yelp
First time at 21c Hotel and Idol Wolf. Hotel is absolutely amazing and I heard such great things about the restaurant. Sadly, it was disappointing. Service & Ambiance We had a 8:30p reservation on a Friday night and got there 15min early to check-in. We waited for 20min AFTER 8:30p to be seated. An employee came over to inform us that the people at our table is taking longer and offered free drinks. Everything about the atmosphere was terrific! Service during our meal was OKAY. Nothing too much to say. Food The price did not match the quality and taste of the food. Our favorite dish was the appetizer, beautifully baked bread with fresh crush tomatoes and cheese on top. Everything was just simple OK. We got three tapas, meatballs, Argentina shrimp, and empanadas. Then we got the Paella which I was extremely excited for as a seafood lover. Flavor fell flat and didn't wow. The only thing about the dish was the well seasoned shrimp. Our shrimp sadly wasn't cooked all the way through. Overall, Idol Wolf is an amazing concept with great artisan drink that simply fell flat when it comes to great tasting food. I am on the fence to trying it again.

Yelp
Do not sleep on this chef-driven restaurant. The dining experience was exceptional. The culinary offerings were not just delicious but also a work of art themselves. It's #stlouispescatarianapproved and the shrimp was some of the shrimp we have ever eaten. @stlouispescatarians on instagram. The bar is beautiful and a fun seat! Stop by and immerse yourself in art, culture, and history. It's a reminder that travel can be not only about relaxation but also about enrichment and inspiration.

Yelp
Idol Wolf is located inside a Boutique Hotel in St. Louis, and what a fantastic place. There is art that is interwoven into the restaurant (hence the penguins), giving it a unique ambiance. The food was good, but can pack a little bit of spice. The jamon sticks and their cheesecake was my favorite! Our server was great and provided context to the art work

Yelp
The food was very disappointing- I had the chicken which was very overcooked and dry. We also had the burger which was undercooked. The charcuterie was not worth the price. I would stay at the hotel and avoid that restaurant.

Yelp
Located in a beautifully renovated building, Idol Wolf is entered through the amazing lobby of the 21c hotel and art museum. Truly a stunning setting visually- be sure to visit the 2nd floor art gallery and notice the one of a kind artwork disguised as wall covering and carpet on the stairway. The restaurant is smallish and also nicely decorated with comfortable seating. The high ceilings and minimal fabric contribute to a fairly noisy environment- when the restaurant is full it can be hard to hear the server or your table mates - this isn't the best place for sharing conversation which I found unfortunate as a good portion of the menu is designed for sharing. We were able to taste a good number of their tapas, an appetizers as well as paella. The pan con tomate was well presented and well prepared - this dish seemed to be the favorite of everyone at the table. The paella was also enjoyable with a good proportion of seafood to rice. The rice was perfectly toothsome. The tuna on toast lacked the beef marrow aioli flavor I was seeking, well prepared but mostly reminiscent of a good tuna salad on Union Loafer's epic toast. The grilled octopus was very well cooked and tender, the potato accompaniment complimented the dish nicely. The chorizo spice the octopus was plated with offered a nice textural change from the potato and octopus, but overall I did not find a lot of flavor in the dish other than the chorizo. The squid ink pasta was nicely al dente and calamari pieces were tender. The dish had a noticeable lemon overtone. We opted for the coffee ice cream and tarta de Santiago for dessert. The ice cream is house made with a well balance coffee flavor. The tarta was my personal favorite dish of the night. Table consensus found most of the dishes seemed slightly over salted. Overall, the concept is great, and I'm a big fan of Spanish cuisine. I'd try dinner here again as we dined mid week; perhaps it was an off day in the kitchen Our server was attentive, and did an excellent job with pacing. Table bussing and water refills were timed perfectly.
