Cheap Cocktails in Montreal: Where to Drink Up | Eater Montreal

"Previously known as cocktail pub Chez Dallaire, this bar has become a more pared-down version of its predecessor with prices to match. Weekly music events have mixed drinks going for around $8 each, and their 5 à 7 knocks two dollars off all their drinks regularly priced at $10." - Heather Vandenengel

A stupidly expensive place to buy groceries, and to charge $3 more for a 12 case of beer is price gouging. A renovation won't improve this location, only a different and competitive store will, like a Maxi for example.

ive been here a couple times before, and have used my indian status card with no issue (my brother has also never had an issue), however today when i went to use it, the cashier didn’t know how to take the tax off. that happens quite a lot at most stores, so i don’t hold that against her. but when she called her manager over to help me, her manager also had no idea, which is odd considering other employees in the past knew how to do it. she was super rude to me saying "we don’t have to accept indian status here" and just walked away, and treated me like an idiot. you may not HAVE to, but most services in this city do, and to treat me so disrespectfully felt like a micro aggression. removing the tax from a purchase is not that hard or complicated. i’ve seen it take them 10 seconds to do it.

Just like a big supermarket, you can buy almost all the food here, and discounted fruits and vegetables are also very cost-effective. By the way, the bill here is in French. When I went home and wanted to have a look at the bill, I found that the product name and the physical object didn't match. I don't know any of these French words😂

I went in to IGA to do a big shop and I come out to their parking lot to a 103$ parking ticket, when i messaged to contest the ticket, with my receipt with time and dates of my large grocery hall they emailed me back that because I had parked longer than 1 hour, there was a zero tolerance policy and I would still be required to pay the ticket. I have never heard of being punished for shopping too long at a store. Will never be coming back .

I went there yesterday in order to return a product that I bought with my credit card. Once I explained the reason, the cashier (lady) gave me the money in cash, I did ask her why in cash, I prefer to have it return on my credit card. The lady totally refused to put it on my credit card because she already processed it (without asking me in advance). She was giving me attitude. Not good at all.

Very poor selection. Rotten food found regularly. Long lines, skinny isles. Update- store is closed and listed on google as open.

The one thing that annoyed me the most was that on more then one occasion when I went to this location to shop for one or two items I was told I had to take a cart or leave. I asked why and was told because it's their way of monitoring how many people were in the store at one time. However in my mind I thought perhaps they should find a better way to do so because by doing it this way they were insisting customers touch more things within the store then necessary. Why should I touch a cart when I can just pick up the one or two items I need and have less possibility of coming in contact with more people during the pandemic by touching more surfaces? It didn't make any sense to me....just my opinion.

Yelp
This IGA on rue Wellington is a bit older and a bit small. I felt the aisles were very narrow and it was hard to walk around people (with or without shopping carts). Still, the store had the basic items you would find in any super market, but the selection was definitely a bit limited...for example I was looking for some nice ice cream treats and they did not have what I had seen at other larger grocery stores in the area. They do have lots of other snacks like popcorn, cookies, etc....

Yelp
Verdun needs better supermarkets ASAP. In some ways it's still a food desert I never buy produce at this IGA when I can get them far fresher and cheaper at Marche Asia or Fruiterie Soleil or Fruiterie Vert Pomme. Before covid I regularly did my grocery shopping at Marche P &A on du Fort but when restrictions went into full effect I was forced to shop locally in Verdun. Because of gentrification, they've recently started to clean up their act but the supermarket needs some renovation, the produce and meat selection still leaves a lot to be desired, it needs to be expanded and fresher options need to be offered. Especially in a city where you have excellent supermarkets like P&A, Arkhavan, Adonis there's just no excuse.

Yelp
This store should carry more health food and specialty products. Some of the cashiers bully the customers that come in. Also if you happened to be harrassed or bullied they ignore your complaints-like they pretend to listen but do nothing.

Yelp
It's my local grocery store; it's almost literally in my back yard. I can leave stuff simmering on my stove stop, get a missing ingredient and be back in time for the next stir. However this store has gone through 3 owners in the 2 years I've been living here, each bringing improvements over the months. Quality has improved greatly, but the prices are still a bit high on the produce. The butchers "butcher" the cuts with visible knife marks, uneven thickness and lack of attention to detail. Living in a poorer area of Montreal, the offerings cater to those who watch their budget, therefore finding the quality items I look for can be difficult. But the store is clean and taken care of and the staff is friendly. Delivery is quick. If only the cashier and/or the bagger didn't crush or flatten my breads everytime.

Yelp
The selection is limited and most of their perishable products are either rotten or expiring the next day. They also frequently have long lines. I've been using this place for years because it's at the end of my street but I'm finally sick of it and not bothering to go there anymore. Most of the perishables that have gone bad or been rotten were higher end items too. Ie:ground extra lean sirloin at $9 a lb, thick cut bacon at $8 a lb and tubs of cottage cheese that were a day before their date. I get it, they sold it before it's due date but I didn't like getting home and finding out that it was either cottage cheese for dinner or toss it in the morning.
