Essential Egg Sandwich and Burger Spot Expands to Ann Arbor | Eater Detroit

"A Detroit breakfast favorite, Iggy’s Eggies is expanding to a second location at 611 East Liberty Street in Ann Arbor, slated to open late this year or in early 2024. Opened in 2018 as a daytime walk-up window in Capitol Park, it’s known for highly customizable egg breakfast sandwiches, crispy hash browns, and smashburgers and is the sibling restaurant of Ferndale seafood spot Voyager. The new location will have a small indoor area for ordering, pickup, and a few counter seats; the owner said the team is still working on the menu with likely differences in lunch offerings, and they’re considering using the space in the evenings for another fast-casual restaurant." - Erin Russell

Even though they forgot our single hashbrown, I’m still giving this place a full 5 stars! I had The Bodega and honestly—it was incredible. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The flavors were spot-on and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the whole place had that cozy, classic diner vibe. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be a regular spot. Highly, highly recommend!

Google
TL:DR - a very good egg sandwich for sure, but the price seemed a little expensive for what I ordered. The basic sandwich is reasonable for the quality, the price of some individual toppings is high. I'll be back to try a more basic sandwich for sure. This was my first visit to Iggy's Eggies, and overall it was a very good egg sandwich. They offer a lot of combinations and options, I want to return to try some different combinations. I ordered the biscuit egg sandwich with smoked bacon, cheese, extra egg, arugula, and seasoned tomato, it was a takeout order. The egg was perfectly cooked, jammy yolk as described, very good, but it didn't taste as if it had any seasoning (I think a little salt and pepper would be good - perhaps personal preference). Bacon was good, but smoke flavor is very mild, I was expecting a bit more smoky flavor. I liked the seasoning on the tomato as well, a nice contrast to the other flavors. I got the Iggy sauce on the side and I'm glad I did - I enjoyed it, but this may not be liked by everyone, pretty sure it is a mix of dijon mustard, mayo, and I think some seasonings (maybe a little paprika?). The biscuit was good as well - flaky and light, good flavor.....it did disintegrate as I ate the sandwich, but I expect that with a good biscuit. The portions were good, I was full after eating the sandwich. I realize I ordered several toppings, but my order came to about $15 - that is a lot for an egg sandwich in my opinion, even with some toppings. Between tariffs and inflation, prices are up, so I know that contributes, and this is not that far off from other places that offer a house-made breakfast sandwich. The price for a basic sandwich with egg and cheese would be about $6, and with meat would be about $9.25 - this definitely more reasonable for the quality. I picked up my sandwich about 2 minutes after the text came saying it was ready, and traveled by car about 5 minutes to my office to eat - by the time I got to eat, the sandwich was not warm. I don't know if the sandwich wasn't very hot when it was ready, or if it just loses heat that quickly, or if I was just unlucky. Next time I think I'll try to eat there, and try a different combo with the brioche bun. Overall it was a very good sandwich, but a little on the expensive side, I will definitely be back.

I had the original with ham, baby Swiss, and jammy-yolk eggs on a brioche bun, plus a crispy hash brown on the side. The egg was perfectly cooked, rich and creamy in the center, and the flavors were balanced and satisfying. You can tell they put care into the ingredients and seasoning.

Iggy's Eggies: Breakfast Sandwich Bliss! Iggy's Eggies is a must-try for any breakfast sandwich lover in Ann Arbor! My partner and I both built our own sandwiches and they were absolutely delicious. I went with a biscuit, sausage patty, and a perfectly runny egg - it was pure breakfast perfection. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch, and you can tell they put a lot of care into crafting each sandwich. The biscuit was especially good, light and fluffy with just the right amount of buttery flavor. While the space itself has a cool, old-school diner vibe (despite being relatively new!), there isn't a ton of seating. It's definitely more of a grab-and-go kind of place, which is perfect for a quick and delicious breakfast on the run. Highly recommend!

Google
This is an epic breakfast sandwich experience. The egg is a soft boil-ish that gives the sandwich incredible flavor, but yet not a big drippy mess. You must try this!

Google
Build your own sandwich? I'm all in. Many choices to make. I went with the brioche bun and look forward to trying other options. Great addition to the Ann Arbor food scene. Small space, but really good sandwiches. It was crowded when we went, so it took a little while to get our order and was challenging to find a space to wait. It was worth the wait. Will definitely be back.

Google
I was super excited to try out the French toast sticks and placed a to-go order but when I got home to unpack them they were hard as rocks and I can’t even bite into them… like as the chef how can you pack this knowing that you burnt them? Seriously not okay. Really sad cause I’ve been going to this place on a regular basis…

Yelp
I've been walking by Iggy's for months now and today was the day that I walked in for some delicious breakfast sandos. The folks working were so helpful and nice: * the person taking my order was so patient with me and gave great recs * I was sitting outside finishing up a call and one of the employees came out to hand deliver my order! What service haha I ended up ordering an egg sando with: * biscuit - baked fresh in house! * sausage - it was a hefty patty * white cheddar * marinated tomatoes - marinated with balsamic I was told. I added this for a pop for acidity in my very savory sando * jammy egg - comes standard in all of Iggy's breakfast sandwiches The possibilities are literally endless and they have hash browns, French toast sticks, fried chicken sandwiches, lunch specials, smashburgers....so safe to say, I'll be back!

Yelp
Was excited to try this place as it seemed so trendy. Very expensive. Just got the basic egg, special sauce, on an English muffin. The egg and sauce were fine. The English muffin was dry and spongy. Couldn't stop thinking how McDonald's would be tastier at a way better price. Will come back to try again with a more fully loaded sandwich but overall incredibly mediocre and overpriced. Service was good.

Yelp
I loved how simple and delicious this breakfast spot was. Very customizable with cheese options, bread, and meat. Their eggs were fresh and the brioche bread was delicious. The bacon was crispy and fresh, not over cooked like most places. This is more a grab and go place with little seating inside so if they're really busy keep that in mind. Overall a great little place to grab breakfast.

Yelp
Love Iggys and when I found out they were opening in Ann Arbor I was even more excited! Stopped in for a late breakfast and got the Iggycado, a hasbrown and some OJ. Love the cute country motif inside and the staff was so friendly. Would recommend!

Yelp
I was really excited to hear Iggy's was opening here in Ann Arbor. Their spot on Liberty is perfect for students and other folks who work in or around campus/downtown. We, however, are not found there regularly but I didn't let that stop me from getting an eggie from them shortly after they opened! Because traffic can be a bit tricky around there I went ahead and ordered delivery for us from their website. My husband and I each got a biscuit eggie with cheese and meat. We also got a double order of hashbrowns and double order of the french toast sticks. Our order arrived quickly and I excitedly dug into the bag. It smelled amazing (particularly the french toast) and our sandwiches looked so good. Unfortunately we found that they had forgotten to include our hashbrowns. I sent them a note about it tho and they were very apologetic and refunded that portion of our order quickly. That was very much appreciated! The sandwich consisted of a jammy egg with Iggy's sauce, American cheese, bacon, and avocado (the latter 3 ingredients were extra $ for add-ons). It was very good and quite filling. I was so excited to chow down I didn't even take a picture. Given the price (which was quite affordable) we assumed the serving size on the french toast was on the smaller side, which is why we got two, but it's actually quite generous for $3.75. We'd definitely split one in the future if we're both also getting an eggie. It's just nice to end on something sweet, ya know? Overall, they really lived up to their Detroit location which I already quite liked. In the future we'd save a few bucks doing takeout so I might be more up to braving parking in the future for that. But, because the base price is so reasonable, I was fine with shelling out the extra $5 or so bucks for a drop off.

Yelp
A cute brunch place serving up breakfast sandwiches and burgers. I got the breakfast combo that was essentially the McDonald's breakfast meal that I always get, although it was almost twice the price. However, the quality makes up for their price. They have a lot of customizations possible, from the type of buns to meat to toppings like additional eggs and arugula. Their hash brown was pretty good, not soggy at all and had a better crunch beating Trader Joe's hash brown. The breakfast sandwich I thought was fine, on the better side. I definitely want to come back and try their chicken sandwich next time!

Yelp
Very small but super cute breakfast place. They have a few seats inside if you get the timing right. The original eggie was delicious, it came out fast and was hot. The apple cider was great as well!

Yelp
Tasty breakfast and fast service. It's a little hole in the wall with a couple seats. Nothing nice to look at but when food is good it doesn't matter!

Yelp
Today was our second trip to Iggy's, and we were thrilled to see they were busy busy with students back on campus! We've enjoyed each visit but are narrowing down to what will be our regular orders! Both times I had the Piggy on a biscuit and the biscuits are sooo good. The egg is the perfect amount of gooey yolk (have napkins at the ready). The first time I had a sausage and I liked it fine, but today I made the switch to bacon and that was the right choice for me! Also had American cheese. I had their very classic and crispy hash browns on the side. My husband had the same but with pancakes as the bread. When I asked how that was, he made a delighted sigh (basically the best review). We ordered online which meant walking in and to the left of pick up window getting our order. Since they were packed out the door, I was very pleased with that decision. Both times the staff had been beyond happy and kind. We LOVE this place. Next time I'll add pictures!!

Yelp
Great little place. Had an Iggycado. Fresh tasting, flavorful, wish I had gotten two more! Great service, friendly location, and fast! I'll be back!

Yelp
Iggy's eggies was great! The biscuit was so delightful- very crumbly and moist. The marinated tomato was also so delicious to add to the sandwich. Hash brown was pretty typical. Overall Great and I'd go again!

Yelp
Really great little breakfast place and food is good. One small detail to improve on is to really toast the English muffin for the breakfast sandwiches.

Yelp
I've been looking forward to Iggy's opening and finally got around to trying it today. I got the Brioche Eggie and added white cheddar, bacon, arugula, and a hash brown. The sandwich was super yummy but kind of expensive especially for the size (I was still hungry after). I was enticed by the $3.75 price tag but this quickly goes up if you want anything other than just an egg and sauce. Overall I don't think this will be an every day spot for me but would definitely treat myself to it for a special occasion.

Yelp
Delicious! Dig the counter service. Sandwiches are well-priced and fresh. New favorite grab and go breakfast in Ann Arbor

Yelp
Wait was extremely long and food came out cold. The brioche bun was not good at all like a cheap bun and not like brioche at all. Really overpriced.
