Barrafina at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross Promises Catalan Tapas | Eater London

"This Sydenham craft brewery has opened a community taproom and expanded a programme to employ people with learning disabilities, deliberately removing much of the automation from its brewing process to create more jobs. Beers available include a Lewisham pale ale, an India pale ale and a porter, reflecting the brewery’s community-focused, hands-on approach." - James Hansen

Really lovely pub with an amazing ethos of employing people who are neurodiverse or have learning disabilities. Everyone was super friendly, the staff were lovely, and the beers were tasty and nicely priced (£6 a pint for beer that's brewed 9 metres from the bar is great!). There's also a little garden out back with a few tables and a really friendly cat, plus monthly live music and meet ups. As someone who's neurodiverse I found it a really relaxing place to drink, but (obviously!) you don't have to be ND to drink here, just someone who likes a nice atmosphere and good drinks. Oh, and they have a 25% off deal with Mama Dough down the road too, so you can bring some pizza with you!

Fantastic place, very friendly, helpful staff. Good for seeing live bands & really supportive to the local community. The main public hub of Sydenham & Lewisham, long may it continue. I'll be back, for sure!

Good beer made on-site, good crowd, good vibes, good cause. What’s not to like? Always worth trying the seasonal special - the red rye Meeple is delicious, as is the green hop.

Drink at this bar! We only went for drinks so can’t comment on the food but if you want to experience a proper community venue serving genuine craft beers then this is the place to go! Not full of posers or owned by a soulless corporation. There was a relaxing, trendy atmosphere and would certainly recommend and return!

Brilliant place. Here on 10th birthday Saturday and loving the live music, community and really decent beer!

Didn't even know it existed but definitely popular run by Lewisham Council and partly used for community activities like salsa, knitting classes etc and part brewery run by young people with special needs who brew and sell it. How interesting and exciting. I didn't go in, but from my peep it had a nice atmosphere with parents and babies on a Friday afternoon. It becomes a pub later.

Great beer selection and a nice makeshift beer garden out back for a sunny afternoon pint! Go check it out!

Such an amazing local treasure - incredible initiative, amazing jazz nights and the beer is super tasty too - made even better that it’s brewed on site! As well as a quirky little beer garden and seats out the front to catch the sun at all times! 🍻
