Iida-Ya

Our first Japanese dining experience so we went for the 9 course tasting menu with Saké wine flight. Attractive premises, we chose the European seating area due to a recent fall having left me with bruised knees but we later discovered that the Japanese Salon actually has wells beneath the tables, making sitting there no different to being on an ordinary chair! The restaurant was almost full so I was very taken by the calm in the open kitchen. Service was generally good until later on, when we found that our desserts were not cleared, nor coffee offered - a shame as the petit fours looked lovely. We had to opt for paying the bill and doing without the coffee. The food was all round good, some of it was excellent. A pleasurable experience all round other than the discovery that their website is out of date both in respect of the dishes on offer and the pricing. We had studied the menu carefully before leaving home and were expecting to pay 60€ pp plus 15€ for the flight, in fact the pricing is now 70€ for the tasting menu and 25€ for the flight. This is a significant difference to expectation and amplified by the whopping 20€ /each/ for the beef dish.

Very cozy restaurant, the Japanese elements of the interior are very present but not at all tacky - very tastefully done. The food is delectable! Must go there again whenever I get another opportunity. Excellent, friendly service - not at all stiff or forced.

Absolutely amazing food, we had the 3-course option which is a very good deal at €39, giving you basically a dessert for free. As starter we had the sushi and sashimi platter which both had a nice selection of fresh fish, including more uncommon fish, such as squid and eel. As a main we had the slow roasted pork (which melted in the mouth) and the seared tuna in a delicious sauce. All mains are served with miso soup and rice and you won't receive cutlery (unless you ask). I was hesitant about dessert since I've been disappointed often by Asian desserts (maybe not my type of food?). I could not have been more wrong! I had the mochi, which was lovely and soft. One being yuzu flavoured and the other matcha. I chose sesame ice cream with it which was lovely but they have other options too. My partner had a Japanse twist on a creme brulee, with sesame in it (which was a hit too).

Absolutely amazing experience. The food is of very high quality, with all of the ingredients treated respectfully to preserve their flavors and textures. The Discovery menu gives you a chance to try a wide variety of entrees, as well as a main dish and dessert, for a very reasonable price given the amount of food and quality. The staff are very friendly and caring, and will gladly help you with any questions about the menu or your meal. You will not be disappointed coming here for a meal.

Excellent food, Good service and fair pricing! This is a must in the beautiful city of dole if you like Japanese cuisine. The restaurant offers a large variety of sake that compliments the menu. Portions are very good. My verdict: Make a reservation at the place!

Small,cosy and warm welcoming restaurant with really cool sitting arrangements. Very friendly stuff, happy to answer your questions about ingredients and amazingly delicious food made by a Japanese chef in an open kitchen !!! Totally recommended !! 🍤🍣🍱🍜🍙🍥🍣 also, booking in front recommended.

Kind service, cool wine line list. The food was comforting Japanese food, the locations was great, and we were happy to be able to sneak in with a last minute reservation.
