The 13 Best New Restaurants in Omaha, Nebraska | Eater

"Chef and restaurateur Jose Dionicio’s Ika Ramen moved from the outskirts of Benson to the neighborhood’s heart and added a slate of new dishes to its menu of ramen, small bites, sushi, and shared plates, including a rotating list of creative bowls. A past special: a mashup of butternut squash soup and fried chicken ramen. Dionicio also partnered with bartender Alex Diimig, an alum of V. Mertz who also helped open the city’s first Tiki lounge, on a basement spot, Kaitei. It’s focused on sake, cocktails, and Japanese spirits. Both places are tiny, so expect a wait. To find Kaitei, look for the blue door inside the restaurant; there’s also an alley entrance." - Sarah Baker Hansen

It's been a long long time since I've had the pleasure of a good bowl of noodles. Granted it was a bit Fusion which was new for me. I gotta say though, the food and the staff, absolutely undeniably phenomenal. I brought my 13yr old son to try this restaurant with me. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Don't expect to be immersed in Asian culture. That's not really the atmosphere here but it has its own undeniable charm. We were made to feel welcomed and NOT just another ticket. The culinary staff was AMAZING. The food tasted authentic even with a touch of fusion. The presentation was 5 Star. I tip my hat to them. The front Staff was charming and attentive but not overbearing. Even though they were relatively busy, they still checked on us for any additional needs. I am 100% foi g to return with my son. 5 Stars without a doubt. The Bear.

Ho. Ly. Cow. What a meal I had yesterday. I've been to the downtown location a couple of times, and it was always fantastic, so we were in the area and tried this location. Fantastic again. I tried the Asian Chorizo Don....and it's no exaggeration when I say it was lights out. Perfect spice. Perfect everything. I can't wait to get this again. Like, seriously, I could not shovel this in my face quick enough, it was THAT good. For starters we did the Steam Buns. I am not a dark meat chicken, especially thigh, kind of dude, but these things were "slap yo mama" good. I can't even describe how good they were. Perfectly steamed bread. Perfectly coated chicken. Perfectly spicy. Just perfect. Ika San is definately a go to.

Great atmosphere, the ramen was amazing and the chicken dumplings would have sufficed as a meal! The food was fantastic, friendly service with good music, and the Retro Crush on the monitors sealed the deal! Will definitely return!!! 🤗✨

It took over an hour to get our food. It was a Saturday afternoon, so it was busy. However they only had one person in the kitchen. Restaurants should be aware this is a busy time and ensure restaurants are properly staffed. During this time, none of the waiters checked on us, refilled our water, or acknowledged the wait time. Being understaffed is understandable, not communicating is not. My food came out after an hour, and my husbands took another 10-15 minutes to come out. The food was subpar, I got the poke ceviche, which was basically the equivalent of biting into a cold red onion. The onions were piled on, and there was barely any salmon or rice in it. It did not contain all of the ingredients that were listed on the menu either. The raw salmon was warm (you could tell it had been left sitting out) and not fresh at all. My husband got the Mongolian beef and we also got the steam buns. Both of those items were good. We LOVE the shadow lake location. However, we will likely not return to this one.

Worst experience I’ve had in a while! We ordered the steam buns and benson bombs as our apps. The benson bombs came out first and the chicharrons were cold and soggy. I brought this up with our waitress and she told us that they are supposed to be that way. Then she took it to the “chef” and came back and said that it he said they are supposed to be that way. I told her that we’ve been to all of the other locations and they are never served like this. I also asked if she had ever even eaten at any of the other locations and she said no. Hmmm It’s laziness. It’s lack of training and supervision and worst of all she had the nerve to lie to us. Make it right the first time. Won’t return and definitely not worth it. No wonder you are 3.5 stars out of 5

Normally I get the Tonkatsu, which is really good. But I switched it up this time to try the ceviche, and my friend got the spicy seafood ramen. It wasn't bad, but not nearly as good as the Tonkatsu. Great service. We had a friendly waiter.

Food was decent could’ve been better, but my main problem and issue was that it was a pick up order and I paid with cash he gave me just a dollar back which my change was supposed to be a dollar with some change and I asked is there supposed to be any change? He said yeah, but I don’t carry change on me which when I come into a restaurant to pay, I expect my full change back. He did not inform me that there was going to be no change so I potentially could’ve paid with card if I would’ve known that issue but he just gave me the one dollar back and didn’t tell me or bring up that there would be no change until I brought it up to him.

I've noticed the past 3 times I have went to Ika (Village Pointe location) the portions seem to get smaller and smaller, a couple of the ramen's taste different than normal, and the food does not taste as fresh. Ika used to be my favorite ramen place and it's the closest to us so it was somewhere we frequented quite a bit. For it being around $20 a bowl, I expect to get my money's worth but that has not been the case the past few months. What a shame.
