If you want to contact Ikea customer service, be prepared to lose a piece of your soul and mind.
I just went there today to purchase a mattress and some other fixtures. I was able to get most items from the shelves with no problem. And they do indeed have some delicious Swedish meatballs.
But there comes the komplement kompl shif which is just a piece of wood board. When I went to the aisle to get it, the ikea employee stopped me and told me that I need to go to a help desk to get this item, so I did. I went to the help desk, and they print out a sheet for me to pay at the cashier. So I paid. After I paid, they provided no further information and the item is just "reserves" with no way of picking it up. Keep in mind it's just some wood board that cost $10 a piece, not some thousand dollars sofa. I went through all these steps, I paid for the item, but I was still unable to get the items.
What's even better is when I called ikea customer service, and they place you on hold for the duration of a tennis match. I'm not even exaggerating, you could honestly go finish a full golf course, watch a movie, have dinner, take a shower, make love to your partner, and you would still be waiting for someone to pickup the phone. What makes this already painful experience even worse, is that while you are on hold, ikea would continuous tell you how much they've done to save the earth, how all your problem can be solved on their website, and how their customer service representative are "trying their best" to get to me. All company should provide the option for customers to wait in silent, forcing this loud repetitive music with this robotic machine voice lines is honestly inhumane.
To top it off, when I finally get to a representative, she could not help me with my issue whatsoever, instead, she lied to me, claimed the reason why I didn't get my items is because they didn't have stock. I checked the stock online, and there are 85 available. If I'm not mistaken, ikea employees should have the same stock information as all customers, so she just blatantly lied to get me off her line. When I confronted her about this, she just puts me on another "20 minutes" hold and eventually transfer me into "another department" that doesn't exist in which I finally gave up after waiting for 2 hours and 40 minutes. So in brief, she couldn't solve the issue, so she put me hanging in the perpetual jail of "20 minutes wait."
I genuinely regret going through hours of waiting, all these trouble and suffering for $20 worth of wood. I can always earn another $20, but I will never be the same with all these pain and suffering, and a broken soul.
