"Lying a couple of minutes from Kanamecho station in the western part of Tokyo is Shinohara. The ramen-ya serves up three different bowls: shoyu, dashi and red sea bream. (The latter is the real star.) The tare used for the ramen is a mix of soy sauce and red sea bream oil, which really sings with flavors of the sea." - Alethea Tan

Many stores, foreigner friendly, it's big enough to find whatever you need any go any direction from there but not massive so you won't get lost. Lot's of restaurants nearby, and the shops have big discounts at the end of each season. There is western union inside if you need money transactions and lots of banks around.

Who designed the station🫠 Everywhere I go there are no escalators and all the elevators are closed. I had to carry my + my ex’s enormous luggage up stairs. 2023.12.31.21:43

This is one of the busiest and biggest station in Tokyo. You can take different subway lines here and you can easily change line here. The road signs are clear and easy to read. It has so many exits here, they named it as East exits , South exits , West exits & North exits . Each direction exit has another 3 or 4 exits, so you have to make sure which exit you need to go in or out. Many big department stores is around this station , you can get into the these stores from the station level , This is the station that you can feel the busy Tokyo life. This is the station I visited most when I was in Tokyo.

Very big station with many many people daily. I love this station because it has so many great places to get food or drink and the station has open entrances and exists which look cool. It's also close to the Tokyo metropolitan hotel which is we're the airport bus stops and leaves from so if you come to Japan and Tokyo it's really convenient to get there as well. When you get there, be ready to shop!

The majority of Japanese have no need to own a car for transport as their network is so incredibly efficient and affordable. Expect to get lost in the network though, as it's quite complex with many exits and lines throughout the tunnels.

Those who know the ways find this station very convenient, as it connects to every single mall through underground passages. For a foreigner like me, based on the signs, navigation is difficult as the directional signs weren't clear enough.

Shinkansen 🚄 does not pass through Ikebukuro Station, but JR → Yamanote Line, Saikyo Line, Shonan-Shinjuku Line, private railways → Tobu Tojo Line, Seibu Ikebukuro Line, Tokyo Metro (Subway) → Marunouchi Line, Yurakucho Line・This is a huge terminal station on the Fukutoshin Line❗️ On the east exit side, there are Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store, PARCO, Sunshine City, Sunshine Aquarium🐟, Sunshine 60 Observation Deck, etc. On the west exit side, there are Tobu Department Store, Hotel Metropolitan, Tokyo Metropolitan Theater, etc. If you head along the railway toward Otsuka, There is a love hotel 🏩 town that I took care of when I was young 😜 I use Ikebukuro Station to transfer from the Yamanote Line to the Tobu Tojo Line, but I have also ridden the Seibu Ikebukuro Line several times. Also, there are often local products exhibitions held inside the JR ticket gates, and I sometimes buy them, which are nice ❗️✨ It's fun just looking at them 👀✨ and they always seem to go well with beer 🍺 I buy things and sweets like kintsuba ❗️ It's nice to be able to eat local food without having to go there ❗️✨😁👍 Also, I sometimes buy lottery tickets at the lottery ticket booth near the Seibu Ikebukuro main store entrance on the east side ❗️ I haven't won a big prize yet 😅💦

Quite possibly the most unorganised station I've ever had to experience. Unfortunately this is the transfer station for most trains, there's absolutely no air conditioning in the summer, so you sit there roasting in the heat trying to follow the meaningless signs that point nowhere. Should I mentioned that there are TWO platform 1 & 2 ? Does the station planner know how numbers work?
