The Best Things We Ate This Month - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"You’ll most often find this taco truck at the Atlanta Dairies on Memorial. But if I could, I would get this truck to sit outside my house permanently. Everything on the menu is solid, but the tacos (especially the carne asada) are next level. On the surface, these blue corn tortilla tacos are super simple with heaps of cilantro, onions, and a creamy avocado sauce. And when those three ingredients combined with the flavorful spices of the tender carne asada, the tacos pack a huge punch. Sometimes simplicity is king." –Juli Horsford, staff writer" - nina reeder, juli horsford, demarco williams, jacinta howard

This is a hidden gem!! Slightly off Plainfield , it is well worth it!! The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing!! Prices were very reasonable and the wait time was very short.

Google
Absolute gem of a place! Food was delicious and they really care about their community. I was so happy to see they were offering free shelf stable item's for families in need. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This is an amazing hidden residential gem for authentic Mexican cuisine (don't let the name fool you as this is a full fledged yet unimposing restaurant) just north of Grand Rapids and a must go to when here or passing through to places north. I had the chicken and beef tacos with fresh made salsa Verde along with their guacamole with corn chips which were amazing. I'd imagine their fajitas, enchiladas, chicken many other entree fare could also be this delicious. The staff was friendly and courteous. As this appears to also be a small family business, the chef bringing the food to our table was a nice change of pace. Everything was fresh and hot. This is definitely worth making the trip a exit or two north of the city

Just tried take out from here for the first time. I ordered the steak dry burrito with a side of their hot salsa. My order was ready to go with good service when I arrived and the burrito is great! I was full on half of the burrito, and didn't feel like working after the whole thing.. but that's a testament to the burrito! Will definitely be my new spot for my close to work lunch takeout! 👌

Google
Super nice place, nice people, nice decor, nice atmosphere. The food was GREAT! We ordered takeout getting steak/chicken taco dinner and chicken mole. The chicken and steak were super fresh and really really good. Their refried beans are like, indescribably tasty. The mole… you will be warned it is spicy. It is spicy. But it’s so so so so so so so so so so good. As proof here is my platter, licked utterly clean :^) Wonderful! A staple of the neighborhood! If you’re thinking “oh I should go try them out sometime”, no. Not “sometime”. Go tonight, go tomorrow for lunch. You’ll fall in love. Thanks!!

Google
Absolutely fantastic, couldn’t recommend enough! Food looked so good coming out that I forgot to take a photo until after I bit into the spicy pork taco!

Just visited for the second time (have been to La Huasteca as well). Got the Pollo Al Chipotle. Love the food, love the people, love supporting local businesses. Highly recommend if you want good food, good atmosphere, and supporting local business.

Dang, these guys might be my favorite for Mexican food in the area now. I'll be honest, having been around the US, I can confidently say West Michigan has some of the worse Mexican food I have ever eaten consistently, but this was something that didn't make me viscerally angry when I ate it. Their spicy pork has a great flavor. The fajitas I bought weren't bone dry and the flour tortillas they gave me were super tasty. Also, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but 18 dollars for fajitas is shockingly affordable given how inflation has been lately. I still need to try their corn tortillas, I find those to be a little more hit-or-miss around GR so I usually don't order them even though they're my favorite. But the refried beans... Mmm... Dang they know how to make some good refried beans. There is something almost smokey about them? But not quite? I don't know how to describe it but they're probably the best refried beans I've ever had. My only complaint so far (I've ordered them on doordash twice now and that's it) is that the rice was crunchy and dry in some spots the last time I ordered. Not sure if it was just a bad batch or if they need to update their rice recipe. Either way, I can live with it because everything else made me so happy, I'm glad I found something I can tolerate around here, and I may even dare say I enjoy it! Bravo to the chefs and the owner. Whatever they're doing, keep it up! Thanks for offering good food!

Yelp
Top notch! Ate here today for the first time. While ordering, my partner asked about the amount of food on a two tostada dish and the server said, "it's a lot, but I can help you eat it." I ordered the mole enchiladas and was cautioned about the heat. After nearly cleaning my plate, the server said, "Whoa, the mole hardly did anything to you! Good job." We started with chips and salsa which were clearly freshly made and totally awesome. We will be back.

Yelp
Quesabirria! Beef goodness with consommé. The friendliest staff makes it very enjoyable dining. It's a cozy little restaurant in a residential neighborhood with ample parking. The platter was a reasonable $16.99. As a family run establishment I plan to be a regular here.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican cuisine in Grand Rapids! The tamales are fantastic, as well as their green enchiladas, there isn't a bad thing on the menu! They keep it clean, service is very good, though, it's pretty pricey, bring some dough. My only complaint was that they charge like 5 bucks for a pop! Wow, for that I subtract one star...otherwise this is a great stop!

Yelp
Wow!! I wish we found Iker's sooner!! We had no idea this was a location change. It's a cute little place with just a few tables. A lot of people in and out for take out. I am so excited to go back. Staff were so incredibly kind even while being busy on cinco de mayo. The stress of the rush did not show at all! The rice and beans were sooo flavorful. I usually don't eat any of the Mexican rice because a lot of restaurants make it dry and not flavorful but I can say my husband was upset I did not let him have mine this time. All of the taco meats were so juicy and flavorful. Truly you cannot go wrong. I didn't try the burrito but my husband loved it. We decided this is our new favorite GR restaurant. Take away: EAT HERE.

Renee K.

Yelp
This has been by far the best authentic Mexican NE gem for sure. The location is convenient, the staff are warm & friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. We are very thankful that they were able to find a much better location for them & us. If you're looking for awesome authentic Mexican cuisine then IKERS on Coit is where to be. Plus the atmosphere is warm & inviting.

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch and was greeted by the friendly, welcoming staff. Throughout the entire lunch, the staff was very attentive, stopping by the table multiple times to make sure we had everything we need. The inside of the restaurant is pretty simple, but it is comfortable and bright. It's perfect for a low key, local Mexican restaurant. Although it's called "Iker's Tacos," they have almost all menu items a normal Mexican restaurant would have (tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, etc). The food was delicious and the prices are reasonable for the serving size. It's about $14 for the enchilada plate and $18 or so for fajitas. This place is definitely worth checking out and I will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
La Huasteca is back! It's now named Iker's Tacos, in honor of the owner's son who sadly passed away last year. This beloved Creston neighborhood staple had to move from their former location on Plainfield but this Coit spot is even better, with a nicer layout for dining in, and plenty of onsite parking! Nate and I stopped by for lunch and had to try way too much food - we ordered a wet burrito, several tacos, and a quesadilla. The menu was just hand written on a white board (they said they were working on getting new menus), but we knew we'd love anything made there. The employee taking our order was super friendly and polite and so thankful that we loved the food! Everything was hot and fresh when it hit our table and it was some of the best Mexican food I've had in the area. The burrito was massive and stuffed with so much goodness (including avocado, amazing). The tacos were all perfection, with tender corn tortillas and super savory meats. I loved the chorizo the best, but they were all good. Then the barbacoa quesadilla was incredible - the meat was so juicy and flavorful. Everything was so good! I was stuffed afterwards and we took home leftovers of the burrito. I think I paid $40 after tip for a ton of food for the two of us. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Iker's Tacos!

Yelp
Iker's tacos absolutely ROCKS. The staff is so friendly and attentive, and the food doesn't leave anything to be desired either. Any great taco joint isn't complete without it's salsas, and MAN does Iker's deliver. Their green salsa is tangy and acidic and aromatic, and their red salsa is smoky and deep and has a solid kick to it. Both are incredible additions to their rich and flavorful meats that they pile onto your plate. Prices were reasonable and it's clear that this place is blowing up. I went on a Saturday evening and was greeted with at 45 minute wait, but the guy behind the counter was eager to express his apologies and thanked me for stopping by. I'm glad to see this place getting the recognition it deserves, as Creston needed a staple taco joint, and Iker's Tacos responded to the call in STRIDE.

Yelp
Tried the Fajitas today for lunch. It is a lot of food! Very good flavor and combination of steak and chicken.

Yelp
I was very pleased with the service on the spot. The food came with love cause I was checked on repeatedly to make sure I was pleased, which I was. The place has a homey ambiance. I can't wait to get back.

Yelp
The dough for the burrito was thick and uncooked almost like a pie dough . The vegetables were chewy , too much salt and it didn't taste like an authentic version. The ground beef had what u can only describe as gristle? Although I didn't request an extra sauce . I'm glad that I had saved some from green porch west side if you know you know . I will order again maybe two weeks to be fair

Yelp
Authentic to the core. This is the place where the people that grew up in the Hispanic community go. Everything is delicious.

Yelp
My go-to for great tex-mex. Family owned and they treat guests like family as well. They had operated under another name on Plainfield and it was great however a series of tragedies forced the change. I wish them the best success as they provide great food and great service.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican food in all of west Michigan. The owners are super friendly and they always keep the place super clean. They make more than just tacos. Give them a try and you will become a believer.

Yelp
As a California native with a Latino background, I'm always on the lookout for authentic, delicious food--and Iker's did not disappoint! I had the al pastor burrito, and it was hands down one of the best I've had. The flavors were incredible, the meat was perfectly seasoned, and every bite was just chef's kiss. But what really made the experience special was the people. The owners have an inspiring story, and their kindness and hospitality made the meal even better. You can tell they pour their heart into this place, and it shows. If you're looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere, do yourself a favor and check out Iker's. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Excellent authentic Mexican food!!! Server was awesome!! Best burrito I've ever had!!

Peter P.

Yelp
I first came here after working in the area and got a quesadilla. I ordered simple and wasn't expecting how amazing it was. I came back recently and it was just as good the second time. This will be my go-to when people ask for good local food from now on. The service is great, the people are super nice, and the vibe of the place is colorful and I love it. It's great for takeout but there's plenty of seating as well.

Marya C.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Mexican food - best steak quesadilla I've had . Visited 3 more times and have always had DELICIOUS meal

Justin W.

Yelp
Great value for the amount of food you get. Service and food is amazing. Salsa Roja on the carne asada is a must, chips and salsa as well.

Jill P.

Yelp
So good! We happened to drive by Iker's, while heading home, after a weekend in GR and were very pleased with our luck. Authentic Mexican food!! We had chips with guacamole, tacos, tostadas & enchiladas. Steak and pork were our favorites, but everything was delicious! What a friendly place to have a delicious lunch! Thank you!!

Yelp
Excellent food. I had the taco dinner and my son had beef enchiladas. They were both delicious. Great service. Super friendly. Very clean and neat on the inside. Highly recommend, and I'll be visiting this place more often.

Matt M.

Yelp
My new favorite taco joint in Grand Rapids!!! The food is always delicious and service is top notch.

Heidi H.

Yelp
Holy guacamole! If you are craving deliciously authentic Mexican food, Iker's Tacos is definitely the place. These two brothers, along with their mom and her mother-in-law, are running the best kept secret in GR!! Super reasonably priced, terric service, incredible food - a must visit!

Michael Y.

Yelp
Great Chile Rellanos. I really liked the style of refried beans that came with the plate. Good service and ambiance. The place looked and smelled clean. Pretty rare for an old building just off Plainfield. Super nice wait staff

Mike F.

Yelp
One of the best steak tacos I've had in Michigan. Perfectly seasoned, tender meat on a fresh tortilla--simple, authentic, and packed with flavor.

David M.

Yelp
Excellent Food and Service....authentic food in a Neiborhood setting, family run gem!!!! I must try!!!!

Geri H.

Yelp
We started eating here as soon as they opened, carrying over from their old place. We are very happy that the food quality and service stayed the same. The prices are reasonable and the place is nice and clean, though small. It is in a good neighborhood. We heartily recommend it
