Google
One of my new favorite places! A non meat eater and a vegan go out to lunch….and we’re very happy with their choice. Ike’s has a wide variety of sandwiches, and many of them can be made vegan on request in addition to having an already large vegan selection on the menu. I have always looked longingly at sandwiches that have turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce in them. Well no stuffing but vegan turkey, cranberry sauce, We got the “Falling for Ike’s” on sourdough and it was a real treat for non meat eaters. Subbed vegan cheddar. Split the sandwich, sat outside, and anxious to go back!

Google
Best thing about Ike's is the Dutch crunch bread rolls. Next is the fillings they layer between the roll. And then there is their own sauces and toppings. They have an excessive list of sandwiches, including vegetarian and vegan. Everything is fresh and delicious.

Google
I never leave reviews but I felt compelled to warn people about the deceptive practices of this business when ordering online delivery. I ordered two subs and neither of them contained an ounce of meat. One sandwich had two tiny pieces of meat and the rest was toppings. The other sandwich which was supposed to have beef and turkey had so little meat that you wouldn't even get to taste the combination together. Never ordering from this place again and if you do order from them be sure to check your sandwich. Complete ripoff for $44+ For reference I ordered the same sandwich from the review below this one. That person ordered In the store vs my delivery

Google
All I can say is wow. We bought sandwiches for a lunch meeting and everyone was pleasantly surprised. I got a Madison Bumgardener and it was a flavor explosion in my mouth. It was so filling I could only eat half of it.

Google
Went in with my son and husband today for (my) first time- i’m six months pregnant and craving a sandwich and saw they have vegan and gf options! The sandwich was delicious, and as a prior food service employee I can tell all the gentleman are hard workers- we will be back!

Google
I’ve eaten here a couple times ,customer service has always been good. My Go to is the Junior Seau sandwhich. I highly suggest you signing up with rewards program/ app cause you get nice little deals on there from time to time and also if you put your bday on your profile you are able to get a free sandwich. I would say that the app needs a upgrade cause you can’t view the images of the sandwiches & I was a bit confused with ordering I thought the order “as is” option automatically meant veggies would be included on my sandwich but I guess you have to actually add that when your placing your order. It’s a bit confusing but not rocket science. Love the quality , love the taste. I also love the Carmel apple lollipop you get when you order a sandwich. Parking is free and shared with the plaza. It can get crowded though (if you have to drive I would say try and pick up before rush times lunch/dinner.)

Google
I had a great chicken sandwich here. Fun little sandwich shop with clever names for all its dishes. Prices were good, sandwiches were great. I'll be back to try another sandwich. It in a busy complex where Trader Joe's is located. Very close to the big Scripts hospital complex.

Google
Love this place but it was great during pride. They were so prepared for the crowds it was amazing. Even with the line they rocked it and I think it was less than 30mins from when I got in line to when I got food.

Yelp
I used Ike's Poway for my daughter and son-in-law's baby shower. I went into the location the week prior to the shower to make sure my 'special request' was understood. Summer was awesome and got my order, special instructions included, set up perfectly! She did a great job setting up a very large order. On the day of delivery, the third party delivery person forgot our 40 sides of dirty sauce and the banana peppers. Not a problem, the store made sure they were brought right over! Great service. One very small issue but we were able to work with catering to make sure it happened: The 'trays' of sanwiches (24 half sandwiches) offer a "build your own" option....not exactly true. You can build your own tray picking from a SPECIFIC set of 8-10 sandwiches. Worked with Mike in catering and were able to get our specifics ordered. Fabulous vegan and vegetarian options!

Yelp
Lots of sandwich choices, nice kids menu. They have dessert, gluten free bread options and online ordering. Definitely try them out!

Yelp
You literally cannot go wrong with Ike's. Each and every sandwich is an absolute dream. My mouth is watering as I write this! Great service with personalized recommendations, and always chill vibes. Ike's foreverrrrrr!

Yelp
Always a great experience! Friendly staff, excellent customer service, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
i'm not a sandwich girl, but ike's has converted me i swear! i love the jim rome on sourdough with pepperoncini and extra dirty sauce. fire. i don't recommend the dutch crunch bread tbh because it makes the sandwich sweet for some reason. thank you Ikes for making me a sandwich girl now.
google avatar

Waylon J.

Yelp
Might be one of the best sandwiches that I've eaten in a very long time. Even though Ike's had a really long wait, the food still came out pretty quick. The menu isn't the largest but I was still overwhelmed by what choice I should get. I ended up trying a turkey pesto and also the Hain Cain. Both were super delicious and saucy. The part that really got me was how flavorful the bread was - probably one of the best tasting breads I've ever had in my lifetime. I'll definitely be back to try out the other flavors when I can!
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
Love Ikes! So many options for vegetarian/vegans and meat lovers too. The names have changed a bit but the Falling for Ikes (pilgrim) and PeeWee are some of my veggie faves!
google avatar

Angie K.

Yelp
Food is good. Service, not so much. Ordered pick up via ubereats because I had to use up some credits. I got there before the estimated pick up time and let them know that I was there. I was fine to wait, but I didn't see the person at the front let anyone know that I was there and waiting. When I finally asked about where my order is, he checked and said there's an order ahead of me. The order that was ahead of me? Two ladies that came at least 10 minutes after I arrived (25 minutes after I placed my order). I understand not prioritizing my order if I wasn't there yet, but that wasn't the case.

Yelp
Came to this sandwich chain on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! Walking in we were a bit overwhelmed by the huge menu, there are so many different sandwich options. But the staff quickly gave us the run down and made recommendations. They also told us we were just in time for happy hour which meant we got a drink and chips along with our sandwich. I got the Damon Bruce (ribeye, steak sauce, provolone, and onions) which was delish. Definitely get your sandwich with the dutch bread, it's their speciality and basically makes the sandwich. This store is a bit small, with only a few seats inside, but there's a good amount of outdoor seating. The store is located in a big shopping plaza, which was very busy when we came around dinner time, but we didn't have too much trouble finding parking. Again, the staff here were very nice and more than welcoming. I would say Ike's takes the top spot for my favorite sandwich chain. Looking forward to eating here again!

Yelp
Used to really love this place but today all of our bread was hard and stale and our order was all messed up. One of the sandwiches we ordered was a vegan eggplant sandwich and we got some random turkey sandwich and the add on toppings were all wrong on the other sandwiches. The meat was also really lacking. Super disappointed especially after spending $75...

Yelp
The food taste is outstanding. We typically get the Ménage à trois on dutch bread, all veggies except jalapenos, onions and banana peppers and a melal drink. Their sandwiches ( only tried the Ménage à trois and We're Just Friends) are fantastic and taste great. I would avoid the sides, as the 2 times I've opted to buy them were soft and frail (I got the fried zucchini and mozzarella sticks). What really drives my review here is the service. No matter how good the food is, if the service is subpar then unfortunately the food goes with it. The wait is long on average, over 20 mins. Even then they might forget. We've been over 7 times and for sure twice now we've waited for over 25 mins. Instance 1 - went with friends and the sandwiches weren't event made. They gave them a coupon but we waited a total of over 45mins. We got our sandwich but our friends didn't so we didn't open ours to be polite. But waited so long and then asked. Instance 2- my husband was tired of waiting and asked. They put the name as Nick and his name is Jay... Now the sandwich is cold and we will heat it ourselves. And we often say no onions and they put onions. Overall the compilation of the times of been there, the food is good but not worth the hassle. There's other food in the area.

Yelp
Updated Review: I wish I could say the service here has improved, but it's only left me more disappointed. After a disappointing experience, I reached out as requested by the manager, who had replied to my initial Yelp review asking for more details. I promptly sent the specifics to the email address they provided, only to get a generic response from their corporate office, saying this location is independently operated, so they can't help and recommended I speak to the manager. Ironically, I had already emailed her as instructed--twice. It's been months with no response. This runaround reflects the kind of customer service you can expect here: a frustrating cycle of 'not my problem' and radio silence. Definitely not what I look for in a dining experience!
google avatar

Kara H.

Yelp
I love Ike's! Their vegan meat and cheese options are excellent. There are so many different vegan things to try, too! Service is quick and the new seating area is very pleasant! It's such a central location in Hillcrest with a bubbly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Love the Tony Guinn at this location has patio seating only Offers free water cold and filtered thank God Haven't found a sandwich I didn't like yet Dirty sauce and crunch bread will be the death of me so good Beer on tap Parking in lot behind the
google avatar

Yelp
Extremely disappointing experience. The food was cold, there was no available parking, and no restrooms nearby. On top of that, we were approached multiple times while trying to eat at dirty tables. This was far from what I expected or hoped for.
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
Ordered the #65 which is turkey, cheddar, red pesto and avocado. My sandwich did not include the avocado which is pretty frustrating to find when you get home to eat it after spending about $16 on the sandwich. I also couldn't even taste the pesto. At first I thought that was also left out of the sandwich. I saw some of the pesto when I opened up the second half of the sandwich. Maybe they had a newbie making this sandwich, but not a great first impression of Ike's. My husband raves about it. I also made the mistake of adding onions. They were cut extremely thick rather than thinly sliced so the onion flavor overpowered everything else. I had to pull them out of the sandwich. The Dutch crunch bread was really good and I can see the potential in this sandwich, but it missed so many marks with me.

Khadija S.

Yelp
The service in this spot is amazing! Aaron and his coworkers were very helpful and super friendly when it came to helping us choose. The food was also really great and they have delicious options for those who don't eat meat! The dining room and outdoor patio were nice and clean too. Would recommend to anyone 10/10! SHOUTOUT TO AARON, COOL GUY HE GOT THEM SANDWICHES ON DECK

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Got my sandwich home to find pickles, onions, and pepperocinis I didn't order plus this giant black string (maybe a hair net?). Yuck yuck yuck. Tried calling and no one will answer the phone to make it right. This was after not being told there was a catering order and then waiting 30 minutes for my food. Would have left if I had known. Will not be back.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
The sandwiches are on point every time. I usually order online and I get the #526 Howie Eat It. I can tell you that the tuna they have is much better than the one from subway. They have a pretty big menu so there is something for everyone!
google avatar

Dennis H.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwiches! Worth whatever you do. Delivery, pickup, in house, all solid. Great place.

Yelp
In my heart I know this isn't a 2 star place but honestly, it felt like a trip to Subway might've been a better use of my money. That's not to say the sandwich was bad. It just wasn't anything memorable. Which sucks because I was really hoping (and based off of the photos and depth of menu) that it would be delicious. But in fact it was just okay. Ordered the Menage a trois on dutch bread extra dirty (mozzarella sticks and jalapeno popper) and it didn't hit. It wasn't dry. It wasn't soggy. It was just okay. Had a mint lemonade as well. That was nice and refreshing and had a bag of chips. There was crunch in it but not very flavorful. I got the hot chips and it was about as hot as Black pepper. The service was dope though. Very nice people. That was a shining light. With two star places, I'd usually never try it again. But with this place I think I would. There's too much on the menu to not try it again and much of the menu did look interesting.
google avatar

Asma A.

Yelp
Love Ike's! Bonus is that the chicken is halal. I tried the "we're just friends" sandwich and it was great. The portion was big enough for two meals and the food tasted fresh. The vegan dirty sauce was well seasoned. Overall another great Ike's location!
google avatar

Vinetia J.

Yelp
Ike's was a surprise for me as their selection wasn't what I expected. The Ike's aren't normal sandwiches but sandwiches with a twist, flavorful delicious twist. I had the Jim Rowe and it was amazing. Will certainly go back.
google avatar

Christopher D.

Yelp
What's unique about this sandwich shop is that there are a variety of options to choose from. They have many different types of sandwiches with different protein to choose from such as steak, chicken, turkey etc.. along with vegan options too. The service was friendly and helpful. The only knock I have to say about this spot is the parking is a bit rough because it's inside a shopping center with many other businesses including a ralphs that you would have to have some luck finding parking. Other than that, the unique feature I like about this place is the celebrity wall of fame. You can see they have over 20+ celebrities that Ike (the owner) has met and took a picture with. Celebrities ranging from all kinds of actors/actresses to comedians, to superstar athletes. It's a joy to see some of them that you recognize or personally like while you wait for your order. Overall I'd give it a 4 out of 5 for the experience.
google avatar

Kokila S.

Yelp
I will always give 5 stars for the kind and friendly staff, but unfortunately this might be my least favorite Ike's location in San Diego. I've gotten food from here a few times, and it's always pretty busy which is understandable. But unfortunately the quality of the food is just not good. Compared to the other locations, this one underfills the sandwiches and has even forgotten some ingredients. Because it's also so busy with in-app orders, I've seen my sandwich be made and not called out for a while which leaves me with a cold sandwich and a sad time. But the app menu also doesn't list all the same options as what's on the menu in store, which is kind of strange. I love this chain for the plentiful veggie options and massive portions, so I'll definitely continue patronizing the other locations.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
We are die-hard Ike's fans living on the east coast, so every time we come to visit it's a treat! This time we got the ménage a trois and Madison Baumgartner. Both great sandwiches, and well prepared. This particular location was small but staff was friendly. We might be back before we leave again...
google avatar

Suz C.

Yelp
So many sandwiches to choose from!!!!! Cool spot at The Hub. We were there by 12, so parking wasn't an issue. Not busy, only one person ahead of us. The two people who were there were so friendly! Got the Tony Soprano and was not disappointed at all! Tony Soprano - turkey, salami, ham, Italian dressing and Provolone cheese Dutch Crunch bread, all veggies + added red onions + banana peppers + Dirty Sauce The sandwich was hot and delicious! The bread was so good and crunchy but still soft! Not a big sandwich girl, but I loved it so much!!! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
So many sandwiches to pick from, but found my favorite- #15 Pride of the Castro: ham and Turkey and Brie! The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. During happy hour- with a sandwich purchase you get a can soda/or water and chip with your order for free!! They also throw in a Carmel apple lollipop in your bag, too! Easily can order online to pick up if you are on the go, but there is seating outside of you wanted to dine and enjoy your sandwich fresh!
google avatar

jennifer t.

Yelp
No sandwich on the planet should include 1/2 a bottle of mayo. Matt Cain straight to the trash. Very little meat, 2 jalapeno & 1 onion slice in the entire sandwich.
google avatar

Nick Y.

Yelp
No doubt, Ike's is a top-tier sandwich spot in San Diego. I've been to very few places that have the creativity AND quality of Ike's. The tribute to local SD legends in the sandwich names and the out-of-the-box thinking on ingredients in certain sandwiches is more than clever. The service was very friendly and quick getting us our food. I loved that they ran through every option of add ons for each person, so there was no questioning exactly what came on it. The vibe is exactly what you would expect from a spot in Hillcrest, trendy, hip and relaxed. I got the Junior Seau which is a roast beef, turkey, Seau sauce (some sort of hot buffalo), and Swiss cheese. It was fantastic. I don't typically put buffalo on roast beef sandwiches, but it was so good and added a ton of flavor and kick. The dutch crunch bread was so good, as expected. Not going to lie, I had high hopes for the lemonade as they had a whole "Craft Lemonade" section on their menu, and it wasn't very good. Ike's is a must go to spot. 10/10 highly recommend.

Christina G.

Yelp
The subs at Ike's are f****n' BOMB! The sauces we're on point. You will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Bri F.

Yelp
We had been meaning to try out Ike's for some time and came by for lunch. Their menu was stacked full of delicious sounding combinations, and we were a bit overwhelmed with all of the options. The girl working the counter was so friendly and patient while we figured out what to order. We went with the Jaymee Sirewich and the Meatless Mike with added mozzarella sticks (also called the Wario), both on Dutch Crunch. It was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it since our sandwich were hot when they came out. The portions were generous and each of the sandwiches were absolutely delicious! The bread had great flavor, the veggies were fresh, the dirty sauce just added another layer of flavor to the perfectly cooked proteins and melted cheese. We were impressed with our meal, and will be back again very soon to try out more items on the menu!
google avatar

Tanner G.

Yelp
Great employees, so nothing against them with this review. But they shrank their menu so small, with little variety. It was my goto stop to get a sandwich before trivia. I hope they bring their wider selection back.
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
Honestly that sandwich hit! It was delicious. Is it weird if I say the menu was almost too big? I had a hard time deciding but finally chose the Madison on Sorodough and it was delicious! I was in the area getting a tattoo and needed to eat beforehand but if I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely go back.
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Stop 8 on my guest to visit as many Ike's as possible in 2023 brought me to my first San Diego County location and to say this spot was classy would be an understatement. It was very busy on a Friday afternoon but the staff was on it - cranking out sandwich after sandwich with great accuracy and a smile on their face. Being down in SD I got to get some local legends inside of me. The Anchorman was fantastic and it indeed does taste better with Jalapeños. The local sandwich called the Seau was Hall of Fame caliber and that Seau hits hard. One interesting thing about this location I had never seen before - they sell alcohol. Thank you Ike's for filing my stomach before heading out to Snapdragon Stadium for some fun with the Red Hot Chili Peppers
google avatar

Lorrie Y.

Yelp
Really good sandwiches overall. Quality is always there. Nice outdoor area for seating and employee wins the day for service with personality plus!!! Prices are a bit on the high side but that is in line with neighborhood overall. Plus, the sandwich names are awesome!
google avatar

Sandi S.

Yelp
The best location so fast and friendly Marcella was amazing in helping us pick out sandwiches
google avatar

Ella A.

Yelp
This is a sandwich shop that cannot handle a modification. Everytime I have gone here my order has been wrong. I gave them three chances. They also put way too much sauce on the sandwiches.
google avatar

Christine Z.

Yelp
I first tried Ike's many many years ago when they first expanded down to SoCal, and I'm glad to see they've opened many more locations while remaining consistent with their delicious sandwiches! They're on the pricier side but definitely one of the better chain sandwich shops out there. They have a huge selection of menu offerings, and I've only tried a tiny portion. The first sandwich I ever ordered here all those years back (#99 We're Just Friends) really blew me away, so I have a tendency to want to order it every time! Recently I decided to try out one of their more popular items, #111 Menage A Trois, and while I did enjoy it, We're Just Friends remains my favorite for now! This Ike's in particular is an independently franchised location, and they unfortunately do not participate in the rewards program. They do still honor the free birthday sandwich however! Free caramel apple pop with every order!
google avatar

Rose A.

Yelp
Variety of different types of sandwiches...by name! The best is the parm crusted bread! Quick service... you come up order and sit outside to enjoy or take home! Their sandwiches are freshly made... flavorful! Today trying #255 Jr Seaus & #333. Stephen Jenkins! Just absolutely delicious no complaints here
google avatar

Alexandra F.

Yelp
Delicious but HOLY HECK it was $20 for a sandwich with gluten free bread. There was one slice of turkey and one slice of roast beef, a single piece of bacon and some lettuce and tomato. No drink. No chips. $20 for a good not great 6 inch sub. Massive tip off and taking advantage of those with food allergies/celiac disease charging $3.50 for GF bread.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
I used the Ike's app to order ahead. I ordered extra dirty sauce and paid for it. First the chick at the front was rude and told her my order and she just gave me a look. When I left and got home guess I should've checked before I left but not only was one of the sandwich's wrong the sauce I paid for isn't there.
google avatar

Ginger P.

Yelp
I like Ike's because of its huge menu and for its Dutch crunch bread. So far every sandwich I've tried here is a winner. One thing though is that most sandwiches get pretty messy because they put a lot of sauce in it. The sauces are delicious, though, so I wouldn't do without. The prices are pretty high for sandwiches, but everything is expensive now. I don't go very often because it's hard to justify paying over $12 for a sandwich, but on the plus side the ingredients taste fresh and they have good customer service. Because it's located right by a busy street, the smells of the city can get pretty overwhelmimg so last time I was here I had to take it elsewhere to eat.
google avatar

Rigo S.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with friends today. Long wait time but the sandwiches were so good! I prefer toasted sandwiches but my partner was upset that toasted was the only option. He prefers cold sandwiches. I ordered the Madison Bumgarner sandwich and was a little disappointed. I LOVE spicy sandwiches and ordered this one thinking it'd have some kick since it's supposed to have habanero (light) in it. All I tasted was the Yellow BBQ sauce, which was a bit overwhelming for me. Overall, a very good sandwich if I was craving something sweet. Gotta go back and try out the others. Maybe request "heavy" habanero on my sandwich .
google avatar

Carlee P.

Yelp
Hubby and I stopped in for lunch after selling some clothes at the nearby Buffalo Exchange. He had the (something) Owl on Dutch Crunch (plus banana peppers, lettuce and red onion) and I had the Clueless on the whole wheat (plus red onions and pickles). HEAVENLY! Of course I wish we had one closer (bring Ike's to Oside!), but my wallet thanks me since two sandwiches and the hubby's beer (which was out and didn't tell him until everything was paid for) was over $35. Came in around 1:3pm on a Sunday and still a decent wait, but the staff was all friendly so it wasn't terrible. We are inside, which was nice, but pretty plain. Would definitely eat here again if we are in the neighborhood!

Noah G.

Yelp
Sincerely enjoy the food when it's right but they've consistently forgotten something whenever I order. I'll have sandwiches that are missing sauce or no lettuce and tomatoes despite them asking and me confirming. Today we ordered two sally rides and one sneaky kitty sandwich. The sneaky is suppose to come with lettuce and tomato's but all it was was bacon and melted cheese. No lettuce or tomatoes and no sauce. A real flat sandwich that costed nearly $15. Needless to say, I feel scammed. We barely go out to eat now so it sucks when you do and something's wrong. The last time they had forgotten sauce on our sandwiches. I understand it's difficult to run a restaurant and things can get hectic but please try to be more consistent. It's not right for the customer who is also spending their hard earned money to support your business. Thank you.

Alexiss R.

Yelp
Abe and the guys were so nice! First time here and will be coming back due to their awesome service
google avatar

Minjoo J.

Yelp
If you are sandwhich enthusiastic person you must come here. They have couple places in san diego but I love the fact that it's right by my gym. The menu can be overwhelming because there are so many to choose from but just go with specialties section and just choose one. You won't be disappointed. They have good gourmet chips selections and good good soda selections.

Yelp
Ikes has a tremendously expansive menu with plenty of Vegan / Vegetarian options! The sandwiches are made fresh and have tons of options to customize! I ordered a Vegan fried chicken sandwich with Seau sauce and it was dripping with yummy goodness! The sandwich was so large that I could only eat half and I gave the rest to someone facing homelessness. This place for the experimental sandwich eaters, those willing to try something new and expand beyond their traditional turkey and cheese on white. Eat your way through the menu, I dare you!
