Ike's Love & Sandwiches

The people were great, the sandwich was very fresh, but there was no meat for the 15.00+ that I paid. I feel as though I got robbed.

TL;DR: Every detail specified in my order was incorrect, when usually it's just one addition of an allergen I specifically asked not to include in my order. I'm done with this place. After every few months I think "I sure do miss the Ike's in Redwood City, maybe I should give the Polk St Ike's a try." And then, when I do, they get some aspect of my order wrong, I don't go back for a few months and the cycle continues. This time was different. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich with everything except tomato and add fake bacon. After getting home and performing surgery on my sandwich, I decide this time I'm going to call the place to let them know so much of my order was wrong. The manager, after finding my order, let me know that they ALSO got the specific sandwich wrong and all the supposed fake meat was real. While I appreciate that he refunded my order and offered me a free sandwich, I've learned my lesson. I don't expect the free one would be the first correctly made sandwich I order from this location. Whatever it is I missed about the Ike Franchise, this place don't got it.

A random stop which included a confused driving on the wrong side of one way street and multiple turns to finally find this amazing gem. The menu is vast and can be overwhelming, but once you make your decision and place your order, the end result is one of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever had. To top it off, the customer service was top notch. I really enjoyed it. Kudos to the staff!!!

Had a great sandwich. Took the picture of the restaurant but not the sandwich because i took it out on take out.

Tried the Da Vinci and it wasn’t bad. But I thought it had Italian dressing on it. Unfortunately I got mayo and I hate mayo. Food was ready when I arrived after ordering online.

Good quality food, but a little pricey. Two sandwiches and two drinks came to $32. This location was understaffed as there were only two people working in the evening and they were getting slammed by the doordash and GrubHub drivers. But kudos to them as they kept their cool and remained friendly and professional. I look forward to stopping by before a show at the Great American music Hall again

Twice this week, I've been mwet with poor service. Monday was my birthday and I was denied my birthday sandwich. Last night, because no where else was open, we went back to this location, I ordered a sandwich and asked for specific extras, the cashier added "extra dirty' when I didn't ask for that. I wasn't sure what that was and my part is I didn't ask for clarity. I was soooo hungry. We got home and the 'extra dirty' adds an enormous amount of wet to the sandwich. So what I won't do again, is go back to this location.

Update 09/2023 They turned the quality upside down. Good experience. Asked them to extra toast dutch crunch, extra sauce, several back and forth requests and the staff executed well. They did make it with love this time. —— 10/2022 This specific location. Messed up order. I don’t think they made it with love. Gave our order to some other customer. What’s the point of 18% gratuity when we got our’s, the dutch crunch bread wasn’t toasted. It was cold and soggy. Later they told that the staff is new & in training period & offered to make another one. I did not want to waste food so ended up eating this one.

Best sandwiches in the city and amazing staff! Their place is also quite cozy. Would totally recommend :)

First time trying Ike's, and I can honestly say now that I understand the hype. Food: I got the Elvis Kieth (halal chicken, wasabi mayo, teriyaki sauce) with tomato, lettuce, and extra Dirty Sauce (The house special garlic aoili, try it!). Plenty of sauce, plenty of meat, I couldn't ask for more! It's a large, filling sandwich, and I'll probably finish my second half later. The wasabi mayo brings a small hint of spice, though it's subtle. The teriyaki sauce pairs well, bringing the sweetness to level out the more savory heat. Service: quick and friendly, order at the front register and pick up your order when they call your name. I waited less than 10 mins. Ambiance: there's a little bit of seating, but this looks like more of a place to grab a quick bite or take it to go. Be mindful of your surroundings if visiting later at night!

Coffee, donuts, sandwiches, the things you almost can't fall down without hitting a spot for any of the above. That's a good and bad thing because it makes it much harder to find the places you really like and which to avoid. Ike's is a great spot with an inventive menu that's got a lot of options, even though there are several sandwiches that are very similar. That's okay though, the only thing you need to know about is the Matt Cain, an extraordinary pitcher and just as good of a sandwich. I usually don't like warm sandos but this is one I make an exception for.

pickup was very quick, and the turkey sandwich was delicious. generous portions of turkey, moist thanks to the fresh veggies and sauce. the whole wheat bread was soft but not soggy at all.

Matt Cain Sandwich on the Dutch crunch bread = the best go to sub here. Especially for first timers who have no idea where to start when looking at how many options there are

I ordered the simple Pee Wee on Dutch Crunch-Vegan Turkey, Purple Slaw, French Dressing, Swiss with dirty sauce, lettuce, and tomato. The pickup process was odd because the employee told me to wait in their walkway instead of in front of the register, which seemed more of an inconvenience. I told them my name two times before they gave me the correct bag and the woman working there seemed annoyed that my name wasn't Ginger. Overall, a sandwich I was looking forward to, but the feelings were not mutual because sadly the only ingredient I could taste was the dirty sauce and the swiss cheese was nonexistent.

This place is so good!! The sandwiches are already mouthwatering but the employees will make your experience even better! Alexis helped me with our order and he made sure that he helped me and my friends get our order right and manage the line in a professional way while displaying kindness to everyone. I will definitely return here and bring my coworkers to try the variety of sandwiches they have!

I've been to this Ike's before and have always received courteous service. I usually check in to Ike's so I can get a free bag of chips, but what happened was that I left my phone at home. I decided to buy a bag of chips, but I guess I was in luck when the POS device was down. The manager let me have the bag of chips for free instead. Not only were the sandwiches and bag of chips quite delicious when I got home to eat, but I left with a good experience The sandwiches I got were a Hunter Pence and the usual Ménage a Trois.

Had a Matt Cain sandwich delivered. First off, this sandwich is huge The sandwich is soft, but got a bit soggy during the transit. The sandwich itself is delicious. Nice creamy flavors from the godfather sauce and provolone. The roast beef flavors were hidden from the salami and turkey. However, overall the sandwich is quite tasty and wouldn't mind coming back to try other sandwiches on their menu.

I'm going to give Ike's the benefit of the doubt because of how large the menu is. I need to try another sandwich before I can leave a solid review, the fried chicken patty was quite disappointing. Taste: 3/5 Touch: 5/5 Sight: 3/5 Smell: 3/5 Sound: ?/?

Ike' s is the one of the best places to eat they are quick to go for lunch is you are in the area. Parking maybe a challenge but the eats are kicking by far. They always do me right when I go there. Everyone should check out this location.

Based on my last experience I paid extra for meat on my Adam Richmond. This time I was given 2 thick pieces of chicken breasts. It seems like they went back to thicker pieces now. Before it was a thin pounded piece. I had ordered online ahead to be ready by 11:15am and it was on time. However I had requested the dirty sauce on the side and by the time I got to my destination I had realized they didn't include one. They need to pay attention to the order. The sandwich didn't taste the same because it was missing that sauce. They still include a caramel apple lollipop with every sandwich but I always toss those away. It's wasteful I know. With a $1 tip this sandwich with extra meat came out to almost $19! Very pricy but not so bad when split with another mouth. Remember to check in Yelp to get that free bag of chips!

Their sandwiches have gotten nasty. They just drench sauce everywhere and it's wet and gross. Ike doesn't even pay attention to anything anymore. No wonder they went down the drain. And the non stop spam emails are gonna get them in trouble. I've told them to stop like 50 times. This place sucks and I'll never eat here again

So many vegetarian options! And you can request to "make it vegan." Their app menu doesn't have all the sandwiches available but if you go to the meat sandwich menu section and click on "name your meat sandwich" (even if you're ordering a veggie sandwich), they have instructions that tell you to note in special instructions sections the name of the sandwich you want to order. We had the Meatless Mike meatball sandwich which was very good. Might check to see if they have marinara sauce next time and try it with that. We also had the James & the Giant Peach. Decent but a little bland. We ended up saucing it up with sriracha. The Dutch crunch bread was delicious, crunch exterior and fluffy interior. Cashier was really busy but remained super friendly, hospitable and professional. :)

Ordered the chicken avocado sandwich and it was probably one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. It fell apart after a few bites. It was way too sweet and I didn't see the avocado anywhere. Disappointing!

Quite literally had the best sandwich I have ever had! Would highly recommend. I forgot what I got but some variation of chicken on dutch crunch. Can't wait to come back!

Tasty, filling sandwiches with a variety of flavors! We ordered a hot mama and a ménage a trios. The hot mama was very saucy, which made the whole sandwich very satisfying to eat as it was moist throughout. The only downside is that you couldn't taste the spice really, mostly a mixture of sweet and savory. The ménage a trios was delicious! Sweet and sour, and very saucy. For both sandwiches, they had a nice distribution of meat and veggies throughout, although they quite literally got a bit lost in the sauce. Our total came out to $26, around $13 a sandwich. Included with our purchase was two blue raspberry lollipops. I would return and recommend!

What was once a 5 star establishment is now closer to a 3. It's the sad fate of most restaurants that scale and expand. I still find joy in the Hot Mama on sourdough. It's similar to way back when, just not quite right. I could be wrong, but not only is the quality degrading it appears the sandwiches are also shrinking. Annoyingly, the Hot Mama is not on Caviar/Door Dash or the delivery option on Ike's website. I emailed them and tried to contact them other ways and haven't got through to anyone. It's a strange omission considering it's supposed to be an Ike's staple.

I was overwhelmed not sure how to order and on top very hungry so thinking clear wasn't something I was able to do. The man working at the front asked me what ideally would I like on my sandwich and we will move on from there. He managed to get me the sandwich with everything I liked on a sandwich without changing me extras. The menu appears to be huge and I get the vibe if you don't know what this exclusive unposted menu is then you'll be like me not knowing how to order.

Tried them via delivery. Good sandwiches, nicely wrapped, very heavy on branding. The sandwiches tasted good. Kind of out of the way for us on most days, so most likely a delivery spot.

I'm normally relatively happy with Ike's. They make solid sandwiches, and the menu changes enough to not get boring. This time however I ordered the "Getting Diggy With It" vegan bulgogi sandwich and was impressed with how convincing the vegan beef was! It was convincing because it was just beef. They used the wrong ingredient for my sandwich.

Ive been trying to purchase an Ike sandwich for years!! I've never had the pleasure of eating an Ike sandwich because either the shop is closed or the line is too long and I can't wait. 9/26/23 yesterday I finally had the opportunity to order a sandwich from Ike's 901 Polk street. There was no line! There were lots of vegan choice. The cashier was taking care of many task. I was patiently standing there waiting to order for more than five minute. I tried to get the cashiers attention because she clearly ignore me standing there. After 5 more minutes I said hello to the cashier and she responded "ONE MINUTE PLEASE! I was thrown back because I expected the cashier to acknowledge the fact that Ive been standing there by saying "please forgive me I be with you in a moment" is what I would have said to a customer at the time the customer approached the counter. Can someone offer some customer service training ?? I walked out because I refuse to spend money where I am not respected.

Take Out during Covid 19 Overall: 7/10 I always wanted to check this place out since I see it all over the bay area. However the sandwiches I got are just okay, not sure if it is because I was late for my order. Maybe I will try it one more time and order it in person next time. Fall from Grace I have been coming to Ikes for years! I started my love affair at their Castro location and continued it even at the pop up in Union square but today, sadly I have to break up with Ike's. My all time favorite- the Damon Bruce was absolutely disgusting. The bread was mushy, the cheese was missing, the onion rings were more like onion strings. I'm so disappointed. Ike if you monitor this, it's time to get your sandwich makers back on point.

Gross. Sandwich was inedible. Ingredients are NOT fresh. Old tuna (day 4-I saw the bin with dates). Avocado had turned and was grey/brown colored. When I talked to the staff about the ingredients and age, they were not friendly and acted like they really don't understand English, even though I was patient, spoke loudly, and repeated my question three times. Very bland sandwich. Tuna is not tuna salad. It is literally tuna from a can piled up, no mayo or nothing mixed in with the tuna. I ate three bites trying for force myself past bite one. But now I'm worried I'll be sick or vomit from even that.

Overall solid sandwich, the menage a trois sandwich overall had good flavor with solid bread. Dutch crunch is always great from Ike's, but the sandwich itself is definitely smaller than I remember. Overall solid, but not great l, it also lacked the red onions I requested on the sandwich.

The sandwiches never disappoint and is way better than the basic subway sandwich! They have catchy sand which names, but overall would recommend.

A San Francisco staple! Do you have a dietary restriction? No worries, their extensive menu caters to all - meat lovers, vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten free. Their Dutch Crunch bread and secret "dirty sauce" is a winning combination! This time I ordered the Hunter Pence, and I'd definitely order it again. To complete the meal, don't forget to grab a bag of Zapp's voodoo flavored chips.

Hi I love all the veggie options but was very surprised to not receive any on my veggie sandwich.. I ordered the Pilgrim with peppers. Not only did I not receive any peppers that I bet I paid extra for but should have at least gotten lettuce, tomato and dirty sauce... Quite a steep price for turkey cheese and jam!!!! 20 minutes also surprised me for a sandwich wait time but I could tell the shop was short staffed which is understandable.

The short haired blonde person is rude asf.... I asked what was taking so long since everyone who ordered after me was getting their food first. They shrugged, said idk and laughed. Either management is really shitty to their employees or you need to fire people.

Low rating isn't because the sandwich doesn't taste good. I go three slices of turkey in my sandwich for $12.95. Low value for what you get, price of sandwich went up from. $9.95 11 months ago (based on yelp photo of menu taken 11 months ago) which makes it even worse. C'mon, at least be competitive as far as pricing and value. So I get a comment from Jessica, a business manager from Ike's, to tell corporate what the problem with the sandwich is. I did, the problem was when I went to the website to comment, the email, which was supposed to go to corporate, was undeliverable.TWICE!!!! Corporate doesn't want to hear my complaint, so the public will. It's a lousy single sandwich, but it'll cost you more that that...

This was my first time. I was excited to try a new place that has vegan options. Asked the staff, what was popular & they said to go with the meatball. I was shocked because the my sandwich looked nothing like the picture. The meatballs are flat, not round & I tasted mostly bread. There was not enough filling to be satisfied. I will give them another try but make sure I get a different sandwich & pay for extra toppings because I did not like this at all. I hope they do better next time.

I'm a fan of Ike's but for some reason this location loves to overdue the sauces to the point where if you don't eat the sandwich right after they had it to you, a 10 min drive home your bread is soggy. So easy fix I ask for the sauce on the side. But I bring the sandwich home and they still drowned the sandwich in sauce and cherry on top they forgot to include the container of sauce on the side. $15 dollar sandwich ruled. I got Inflation already messing with my appetite don't need this !

Best vegan sandwiches ever. I love that every location has different sandwiches and has so many good options. Staff was helpful in giving us recommendations to make stuff vegan and this has become a staple sandwich stop.

Would love to no why I can't speak with a live person .The number is not working have issues and need help .How do hiring people and it's ok for them to work and my baby been there 2 years and was trying to save for school this will be her first year of college and bout 2 weeks ago HR calls and say yea we closing that store this you're last check .That's it so forgive the people that been there helping you feed yo family .Now there are 5 kids under 18 so they can't even file for unemployment. You would think you would at least show them you appreciated they service .Really sad and it's company's like you is why people do mean stuff yeas I'm made because you jus prove how you feel about people. So your Vegas location that slave drove them kids in you should feel good

Hefty sandwiches with an incredibly convenient online ordering system that allows for topping customization. I got the Matt Cain which was good but I wish I had ordered something a little more unique as it just tasted like a normal sub. I would recommend eating these sandwiches quickly after pickup as the sauce will make the bread soggy.

This is my second review of this shit hole. I literally don't know why I ordered it again.. maybe just to give it a try.. $14 for a sandwich that DOES NOT EVEN HAVE THE MAIN INGREDIENT ON IT. This is supposedly the "Zenobia" which is supposed to be Vegan Steak.. BUT THERE IS NO VEGAN STEAK!! NEVER ORDER FROM IKE'S !!!!!! NEVER!!! Also it took over two hours to send me a sandwich with just hummus, cucumber and tomato!! I've said it before.. these employees are TOO STONED TO DO THEIR JOB!!! SHAME ON YOU IKE!!!

Geez I love Ike's , way back when I lived on the ridge between the Castro & Noe Valley I'd head down the hill to get a sandwich and my lollipop , heck I even remember the comic book :) But after all this time Ike's is still the baseline of what a good sandwich in SF should be. My meal consisting of the Ménage a Trois (there is a reason this chicken sandwich is so popular) , and the Paul Reuben on Dutch Crunch. Both sandwiches on point as I have come to expect from Ike's. Parking can be a challenge during the day , but it was pretty easy tonight. Btw huge selection if you are Veggie or Vegan.

Just so frustrated that when I specifically make a request - it isn't addressed. I asked for havarti cheese because some locations have that and said in the event they do not have havarti cheese that cheddar is ok because "The sandwich has to have cheese :-)". Of course this wasn't addressed and there was no cheese on the sandwich even though the sandwich originally calls for cheddar. I know this sounds kind of petty but this happens every single time I order a sandwich from Ike's. At $13 for a sandwich that was pretty weak and another $5 for chips and a soda, it just isn't worth supporting them anymore if they can't get the one thing that set them apart right. I keep hoping it will be better and I just continue to be disappointed. I guess after years of trying it's time just to move on. Bye Ike's. Oh and because I saw the blanket replies from Ike's on other reviews, I also messaged them through their online portal.

One of the nastiest things I've eaten in a while. I seriously don't understand how people like Ike's. I've tried a few sandwiches from here, all of them are drowning in sugar (from both the Dutch crunch bread and their house sauce), they're always soggy and cold, and the meat is low quality. "Fried chicken" is actually a reheated and soggy chicken nugget. Whenever I've used a delivery service it also arrives missing the chips and drink- this has happened more than once.

I don't really have much to say--just look how absurdly small this sandwich is. I paid near $15 for a sandwich that looks like it was hit by a shrink ray. Will never order from this place again

So I live in Santa Rosa and get the same sandwich, same price ($12), but much better quality. This place didn't even put lettuce, pickles, cheese or onion on, like I ordered it. Just because you're in the city doesn't mean the quality should suffer. Do better Ikes SF, you're bringing the name of a great company down. Update: it made me sick. Don't go to this location.

Within 2 minutes, the NIGHTCREW took care of me ! I wanted to add some sweets to my DoorDash order and they were able to assist with the quickness over the phone. Great team over there!
