The food is good in an of itself but the toppings of the sandwich were bare minimum. I would hope this is only a problem for delivery orders. The sandwich had almost no lettuce which for the price was disappointing. I’ll have to try going in person but for now I won’t be ordering delivery again.

SO DELICIOUS!! I can’t wait to be back here because these sandwiches are to die for! I didn’t know about this place for subs but I’m so glad I tried something new today because the food was fantastic! My husband and I got two sandwiches, the number 9 and 71, they were fully loaded with chicken and other good stuff, each super unique taste and fresh ingredients. The best part is that they had HALAL chicken options!! It was so nice to be able to get a meat option rather than the usual veggie or tuna, if you eat only halal this is MUST visit in Austin! The store itself was pretty spacious and clean and easy to find parking.

I was asked to order lunch for the office after 12 pm today and they wanted Ike’s. The website showed it would be a two hour wait even for a pick up order of two bundles so I called and they said because they weren’t busy they would do their best to get the boxes done in about an hour. I showed up 50 minutes later and the food was waiting for me! Everything was still warm and everyone at work was extremely happy! For the desserts, they mixed it up a little bit and I have to say, I adore the brownies. I have been good about avoiding sugar but oh man, I couldn’t help but eat the whole thing! Love this store and will definitely use them again.

Google
Loved Ike’s soooo much. Was craving a sandwich with my friends so we pulled up here off of a friends recommendation - did not disappoint! I had the Matt Cain on the Dutch French bread and it was 10/10, very very good. The restaurant also is very friendly and accessible. They are very vegan, lgbtq, weed, gluten free, handicap etc friendly ! Big kudos for accessibility!

Google
This place has promise and I’ll definitely try again but todays visit was underwhelming. Not a fan of the bread they use and I was left with a quarter of just bread left at the end of both sides of the sandwich. Pretty messy sandwiches and the sauces are great.

Google
Lacked flavor, couldn't taste the meat (barely any) because it was just overdone with their sauce. Overall it's more about the bread and their sauce over the actual ingredients and that's not the kind of sandwich i like. First time here, definitely not for me, not coming back!

Google
The sandwiches are outstanding. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options! Prices a re great and it is well located.

Google
They have a huge number of vegan options - so many that it was hard to make a choice. I had the Janis Joplin. The staff were great. They were fast and the cashier even knew to ask if I wanted to make it vegan.

Yelp
How have I not reviewed Ike's yet?!? I love their sandwiches! I get a free birthday sandwich every year for my birthday and stopped by last week. Their Dutch Crunch bread is the way to go. It's my favorite part! I love their fun sandwiches names. Each time I visit I try a different sandwich. They other surprise I love is the caramelized apple lollipop. It makes my day.

Yelp
Overall Ike's was great and has sandwiches that can compete with the best in town! That Dutch bread and dirty sauce is addictive! Came in here on a Saturday for late lunch and it wasn't too crowded. We ordered quickly with a helpful recommendation from the cashier, and the food came out quickly. Liked the vibe inside with the fun sandwich names and quotes on the wall. This location does have some "under construction" elements such as the menu changes and some of the decor marked out, but didn't make the food any less delicious. The drink machine was actively getting some work done on it, but we were still able to get our drinks no problem. Overall I have no complaints on the taste or quality of the food OR the niceness of the team. Only reason for 4 stars is that it was pretty darn pricey. Now they do have a LOT more options for folks with dietary restrictions, so perhaps that drives the cost, but it was ~$35 for 2 sandwiches plus 1 chip & drink. Thats a little out of my budget else I would gladly eat here all the time

Yelp
Ike's is always a good choice for us. I love that you can order on their site for pick up with no extra charges. The food is always ready fast and service is great. This location is only 14 min from Austin Airport so anytime we want a quick bite to eat after getting back we stop by here to get sandwiches. Their original Dutch bread is a bit on the sweeter side so if you don't like that you may want to opt to their other bread options that they have. We have tried few different kind of sandwiches and none disappointed us thus far.

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
The sandwiches we had here were amazing! I had vegan turkey with cranberry on GF bread. Best GF bread I've ever had. Will be back when in Austin.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place!!! Best sandwich I've ever had and I seriously can't get enough! Like if I lived closer I would eat here at least 3 times a week! The service is okay but the sandwich makers are phenomenal!!!!!!!! The music is kinda loud lol dang I sound old but being asked several times to repeat myself should be a great indicator to turn it down a few so that customers can communicate comfortably. This has happened a few times so it wasn't a one time off thing. Maybe when taking orders only it gets turned down. Eeeeehh what do I know. I just hate yelling lol Now, the place was clean and a great selection sandwiches to choose from. My favorite is the Reading Rainbow with added onions on a Dutch crunch roll! It is so good! I tried making it the same at home but it wasn't anything close to theirs!! Did you know you can only get Dutch crunch rolls in a few states! And you can only get it at Ike's here in TX!! So do yourself a favor and try a sandwich!

Yelp
I had my wife pick me up the Michael Jordan meatball sandwich while she was in Austin. Let me first start out by saying that I was a huge Michael Jordan fan in the 80s & 90s. The sandwich itself was more like Jim McIlvaine. All the height and hype and no game. The meatballs were bland, and like they just came out of a grocery store bag from HEB. The Dutch bread that everyone hyped in their reviews here is overrated and a copycat of Subway. This sandwich is a diss to the greatest NBA player.

Minh D.

Yelp
I really enjoy Ike's sandwiches. They are huge and filling, the bread and sauce is full of garlic flavor because their special "dirty sauce" has garlic in it. Their subs are not dry at all but very saucy, packed with flavors. They have a good number of meaty options but also vegetarian which is great for both meat and veggie lovers. I have tried three flavors here and all enjoyed them. They are dense and high in calories so sharing a sandwich with someone is not a bad idea if you are not ravenous :)

Yelp
Something bad is happening to this location. The quality has gone down drastically and it looks dirty. We got Ike's for dinner tonight and my vegan sandwich had just 4 little nuggets and no avocado which it's supposed to come with. This thing cost $18. My partner didn't fair much better. Now we know to never come back to this location again

Madeline D.

Yelp
incredible sandwiches. Literally all of them are delicious. Not really the types of sandwiches I would normally order in a fast food situation but it was so delicious. You have to get it Ike's way and get it garlic mayo roasted on both sides. It's indescribably delicious. I dream about these sandwiches and have gotten myself and my husband hooked on them. I love their bread with the crackly top. 10/10 my fav fast food sandwiches ive eveer had and definitiely the best in Austin. I hope they open more locqtions

Kaeleigh S.

Yelp
I used to live on the Bay Area and everyone raved about this place. Well, once upon a night, one extremely pregnant woman (that's me) had the sudden and dire need for a sub sandwich. Ike's showed up on Doordash and we went for it--and I am SO glad I did. These subs are freakin' delicious! And they have gluten free bread!!! I repeat, GLUTEN FREE BREAD. And it's like proper, tasty sub bread, not cardboard. They are actually super great about allergies in general and accommodate for dairy, vegetarian, vegan etc. Big plus! The Hunter Pence is my go to with everything on it, sans cheese and gluten. So fresh, so delicious, so filling. The Rueben is also very tasty! My husband has tried the Menage a Trois and Matt Cain and said both were super good. Regardless of what you get, make sure you get the dirty sauce! It's a game changer and they even have a vegan option. I literally ate here three days in a row and have started a sub revolution amongst my friends. We are all obsessed with this place. Highly recommend!

Katlyn P.

Yelp
This was my first time ever at IKE's and all I have to say is Wow! Their famous bread makes all the difference! I loved my turkey sandwich and I there are so many different combinations of sandwiches! I also loved that there were two lollipops in the bag as a small treat. The restaurant was empty when we went, so it was nice to just sit and relax and enjoy a meal before church. Super tasty and flavorful! Customer service was great and inside was clean! I can't wait to come back and try more items off the menu!

Amanda P.

Yelp
Have had the vegan meatball sandwich the last two times I've gone and it was really good. I would not necessarily recommend the gluten-free bread unless you have to for medical reasons because it is unbelievably dry despite the bread being dry, the dirty sauce, and the rest of the sandwich made up for it because it was really flavorful and good. My only complaint is how pricey it is. Their sandwiches are a decent size but still it's expensive. Service is fine and they get specifics done right. The ambience is what you would expect in a strip mall sandwich shop. No complaints there. I really appreciate the vegan options at this place as well as the vegetarian options.

Sean C.

Yelp
My wife and I came here on Mother's Day and enjoyed our time here. We were avoiding the sit down restaurants since its the busiest day of the year and decided to order some food here. I had the Jayme Meatless and my wife had the Meatless Mike. I really appreciate that they have vegan options there and really good vegan options at that. Those meatballs are the absolute best ones I have ever tried, delicious. I really like their yellow BBQ sauce and the option to put vegan dirty sauce on my sandwich. 10/10 would recommend.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
had ike's catered to a work function today and I really enjoyed it! I had the Menage A Trois (Halal Chicken, Honey Mustard, BBQ Sauce, Real Honey, Pepper Jack, Swiss, Cheddar - served hot with dirty sauce, lettuce, and tomato)! I really enjoyed the freshness of it & especially enjoyed the bread which is called "Dutch Crunch"! the catered meal also came with chips, cookie, and a lollipop! the salted caramel cookie was delicious and soft, so i'd definitely get that one again! overall, it was a delicious and satisfying catered lunch!

Tinamarie R.

Yelp
Wow! The menu is extensive and somewhat overwhelming. After 10-15 minutes of reading all of the options I ordered the Aaron Nunez on French bread. It had turkey, bacon, green chilies and pepper jack cheese. Honestly I was expecting more heat but it was very mild. It is a huge sandwich so make sure to bring your appetite. The inside was clean. They had covered seating outside as well. Overall this was one of the better sandwich places I have been to.

Kim W.

Yelp
Only 4 stars because I've eaten here once AND it's a sandwich shop- BUT a damn fine one! Excellent food! I'd stumbled across them on Yelp but honestly thought they'd closed during Covid. I was hugely craving a sandwich which is totally weird for me, Cheba Hit was too far away and I ran back across Ike's on. Yelp! Man alive the Dutch specialty bread is phenomenal! They toast all their sandwiches and holy moly is their bread stellar! Fresh ingredients, friendly staff great selection of meats and add ons! Highly recommend if you're craving a a honkin' big sammy . The caramel apple suckers for dessert are a cool plus!

Heather D.

Yelp
Popped in for lunch after a play date, perfect location. Quick and friendly service. Sandwiches were delicious, many options. The staff was super nice when one of our four kiddos had an accident. Will return in the future

Kacey C.

Yelp
HUGE sandwiches. This was my first time at an Ike's and I was a little overwhelmed by the menu so I went with a safe option (turkey, cheddar, avocado, red pesto, lettuce and tomato) and it did not disappoint. This sandwich easily weighed 6 pounds and I'm embarrassed to say how much of it I finished. It was so delicious and fresh. I would love to come back and try more on the menu. The restaurant itself wasn't all that clean, just tables that needed to be cleaned off mostly. But overall we had a good experience here.

Gabriella G.

Yelp
Interesting small sandwich shop with different sandwiches in their menu... worthy of another try! (Now that we get the concept!) So we wanted a chicken salad sandwich. Their house bread was sweet. So keeping that in mind: perhaps the bread we got was not the better shop for The Backstabber!! This is their chicken salad sub that is NOT on the menu! The fillin was actually very good and light- one sub was enough for both of us, so if you're really hungry: I bet it would be enough for you too! The actual shop was like any other subway shop, the ordering line, then they call you for your sub and there are tables on the side... next time I would order a regular baguette for the chicken salad though: they do have a bread choice we were unaware of and that made our sandwich taste different. Lol The house bread was delicious on its own though! So come on in and Enjoy!!

Kara M.

Yelp
These sandwiches are awesome! Unique and fun, the menu is HUGE and you can still opt to build your own sandwich if none of their options satisfy you. They have everything from halal chicken to steak and meatballs and a large veggie menu, also. Then you can go crazy and top your sandwich with extra toppings like mozzarella sticks or jalapeños! Their sandwich bread is also amazing - their "world famous" Dutch bread. It's so fresh and flavorful. I ordered the #9 "Name of the girl I'm dating" sandwich - chicken halal, avocado, honey mustard, lettuce and tomato. It was delicious! I can't wait to visit again and try something else from their menu. I was super impressed with the sandwich flavor and value. They also have a good variety of sodas and teas, and you can get chips or mozzarella sticks or another side to round out your meal.

matt s.

Yelp
Be aware: if you order from a delivery app, the staff here is going to make your dirty handed driver fill your drink order, and they will not be sealing the lid with tamper evident tape, as per best industry practice. In the interest of your health and safety, get your sandwich elsewhere.

Byron C.

Yelp
20 mins to get one sandwich. The place is a mess. All the tables are filthy. Why do i have to take 85 characters?

Elexa S.

Yelp
If I wanted to cook my own food I would of. There is ZERO NEED to serve under cooked food because yall are 25 minutes from closing. I had placed a mobile order much earlier, it got stolen and "manager on duty" didn't do anything about you or matter of fact couldn't even provide any help. Just said sorry and shrugged. Horrible Service. -10/10. Get it together and quit if you really hate your job.

Teri K.

Yelp
my friend gave me a free sandwich coupon and I tried Ikes for the first time this week. Ordered a delicious chicken sandwich, which was a very generous portion, on fresh bread with a tangy sauce. The only toppings offered were lettuce and tomato, but the sandwich was very flavorful. I will try more of their sandwiches in the future.

Wayne N.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place as a California transplant so it's a bit surprising to find it in a nondescript strip mall but don't let that fool you. It's easily one of the best sandwich shops in Austin and honestly I don't know if it's that close. Dutch crunch/tiger bread is definitely the way to go for that crispy crunchy crust. I got a Matt Cain in all it's meaty glory and that sauce that binds the sandwich together is great too. Some vegetables help you pretend that it's healthy. All toasted warm, it's a great lunch meal that will leave you plenty full. Lots of other sandwiches with interesting names too. Will come back to explore more.

Kayleigh T.

Yelp
Ok- I worked for a well known hot sub shop for four years so I can be a little picky. This place blew me away. So much that I've been twice in the last week It's a sub shop so don't expect a fancy dining area. But it is decorated with funny sayings and a GIANT MENU filled with funny named food. Super cute, great selection of teas and cokes. Now let's get to the best part... the subs!! I had a hard time choosing but between my two visits I went with the Green Lantern, and the Michael Jordan. Green lantern is a cheesesteak style sub, on the most crumbly crust delicious House bread you've ever had. Michael Jordan is the meatball sub with pepper Jack cheese and is hands down the best meatball sub I've ever had. I added jalapeños to both, because ya girl likes it spicy. My boyfriend ordered the Matt Cain and I was almost jealous until I took another bite of meatballs- we settled on a fair trade. Bite for a bite I also want to add that they have a huuuge variety of vegetarian options that sounds just as good if not better than the subs with meat on them. The only con- you can only eat so much each time you go! I recommend taking a friend and splitting two different ones so you can try multiple choices

Mariam H.

Yelp
Really great sandwich's! Kind staff! The menu is massive so I'd recommend taking a look at it in advance.

David F.

Yelp
Was super excited to try this place as I haven't had Dutch bread in 10 years! Great environment walking in, friendly staff & clean. With tons of sandwich choices on the wall I was excited to try some of these "award" winning sandwiches. Prices looked steep but I figured they are just stacked with meat. After tipping and getting just an 18. Matt Cain I was 16$ in. Received my sandwich quickly and was pumped. Opened it starving ready to throw the munch and it only had 1 thin slice of each protein. The bread was great, but 14$(for the sandwich) this is really steep pricing for not a lot of meat. Really would like to try this place again if they served their sandwiches with more meat or lower pricing...

Angela N.

Yelp
Picked up 3 sandwiches on a Saturday evening. Husband had the pastrami/coleslaw (#91 Paul Reuben's) and I had the chicken fried (#126 mark appel). Kiddo had a create your own, just turkey, cheese, pickles, lettuce). The sandwiches were good overall. I would not order the #126 again. The fried chicken wasn't great and the sweetness was overwhelming. Overall good / average experience but not necessarily a place I'd frequent. Price was approx $50 for 3 sandwich combos which was also a bit expensive.

Susan M.

Yelp
I've loved Ike's in Westwood, CA and was more than pleased to find the same deliciousness, service and quality here in Austin. The sandwiches are unique and their halal chicken makes them even better!!

Jd M.

Yelp
Clean place, plenty of selections to choose from. I would try again for sure. Maybe my choice just was not the best. Always like to sample new places instead of usual nation chains

Brandelyn G.

Yelp
I recommend the menage e tois on the Dutch crunch bread! Really delicious and always on point. It is a little messy but worth it. I've been trying to get the James and the Giant peach but they always sell out of the vegan friend chicken!

Melanie V.

Yelp
I have been wanting to come here for a while and I was finally able to. I got the Matt Cain sandwich and it was amazing - highly recommend it to anyone who can't decide what to get! The service was great; the cashiers were friendly. I'll definitely be returning!

Megan R.

Yelp
Great food and staff. Love all the options and the fun decor. So many vegetarian options and meat options. They can make way more than what's on their menu.

Samantha C.

Yelp
If there were an award for best sandwich I've ever eaten it would be Ike's. I've had some pretty amazing subs but Ike's... I don't have words. Love love love. Service is so friendly and patient. Thanks for changing my life Ike's

Lauren W.

Yelp
Very good sandwiches here! I first had Ike's in California and was glad to find there is one in Austin as well. If I lived closer, I might get this more often. The bbq chicken sandwich is always a hit. They are kind of big so I would be full eating half of it. The bread complement the filling inside the sandwich. The chops there are also very tasty! My fav is the jalapeno one. The employees were nice and inside the restaurant is small. Plenty of parking there since it's in a plaza with many other stores there. I highly recommend this place! It's unique and the flavors blend really well together. They know what they're doing!

Tracey Z.

Yelp
I originally thought this would be similar to Subway, being a sandwich shop, but Ike's should replace every Potbelly's, Which wich, and subway in the nation. It is that good. What really stood out to me was their huge selection of vegetarian options. Normally there is like 2 or 3 choices but Ike's has almost as many vegetarian sandwiches as meat. I got their Meatless Mikes of their famous Dutch bread. This bread deserves its own Hall of Fame, it was airy and slightly crunchy and delicious. It is slightly sweet and made such a nice pairing. The meatless mike is vegan meatball with marinara sauce and cheese. The meat doesn't taste like real meat but it still reminds me of a meaty flavor. I ate the other half of my sandwich hours later, cold it still tastes pretty good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone! I can't wait to come back and try more of their different options.

Christina H.

Yelp
If you're a little anxious, I would advise looking at the menu & choosing something prior before you enter the beast! SO many options on the menu, and so many options OFF the menu! No matter which diet you follow, Ike's absolutely has the perfect sandwich for you, which I love, especially having a dairy & gluten restriction!

Amira B.

Yelp
I ordered a ménage a trois sandwich which has halal chicken. The bread was great but I felt like there was too many sauces going on with the sandwich. It was super filling. I'm glad I tried it and see there are lots of vegan options as well, which is awesome.

Jenna H.

Yelp
First time at this best and I believe it is better than any other sandwich place i've had. Sandwiches were so flavorful. worth the money for sure! Ate every piece of it

Eric G.

Yelp
I lived in the bat area for 4 years and never went here, so when I saw it's here in Austin I thought I should finally give it a try. Sandwich called "name of the girl I'm dating": this was actually pretty good. I got it on their signature bread, which was probably my favorite part. The filling was very flavorful, too. Onion rings: I would probably not order this here again. They came out a little soggy. Overall if I'm looking for a sandwich place and this is nearby, it would be at or near the top of my list. I'm looking forward to trying other sandwiches!

Jenny D.

Yelp
I think I just had the best sandwich of all time...the handsome owl, veganized on the house bread with light vegan mozzarella. It was AMAZING!!! Try it!

Eric R.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of of Ike's. If this comes of more like a love letter than review, so be it. The first time I came was a day or two after they opened. Got around the same week and met Ike himself. I didn't maintain that regularity and only get around every other month or so now, but I am never disappointed. The options and variety are seemingly infinite and will accommodate whatever your dietary needs or palate is hankering for. A more mathy person can probably calculate the number of combinations here, but I'll guesstimate it's exactly eleventy gajillion. The Madison Bumgarner is sandwich art. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I also love Amuna's Tuna, The Girl I Used to Date, Green Lantern, The Backstabber, Going Home for Thanksgiving, and today I tried and really enjoyed The Maya Angelou (cutting back on meat lately). I still haven't even scratched the surface of the variety they offer. Food aside, the staff is always friendly and attentive. Great folks here! Ike's is an awesome member of our city's sandwich landscape and you will not be disappointed. Solid 4.5 star and will round up to 5 since that's not an option. On a side note: Extremely grateful they've survived the pandemic. All the best to Ike's!

Jodi H.

Yelp
Ike's Austin deserves 5 stars for their delicious DUTCH CRUNCH sandwiches made just like they do it at their original home in the Bay Area! BUT a total of 3 stars for poor management. I love that they maintain grade A+ sandwich consistency across states. I knew what to expect when I ordered my sandwich, and it came out toasted and delicious just like I remembered it. I've always loved Dutch crunch, so I'm biased maybe...but that's legitimately the best bread they have there. Ike's is known for it. Like why get wheat...if you can get crispy and non-roof-of-your-mouth-cutting-toasted-bread?! I always get their Handsome Owl (teriyaki + wasabi is bomb), but I tried the James and the Giant Peach this time. BOTH are awesome choices. THANK YOU for making vegan meat options tasty. That's a dub. Thank you Ike's for coming to South Austin. It's a great space too in the shopping plaza with the Pet store and other restaurants nearby. There's plenty of parking and they have lots of seating indoors (no outdoor seating). They offer a $7 student sandwich deal which is weekdays from 2-5pm, BUT get this. It is strictly a "START AT 2PM" deal. So keep your student IDs if you get there before 2pm. Trust me, we tried to get our student deal at literally 1:40pm and the manager was like nope. So management needs to get it together, y'all! Get this. Lunch time should not be a 30-minute-long+ ordeal! Legit came here for lunchtime on a Friday and there was only the store manager working with one very efficient employee doing her best to manage everything. Good thing my classmate and I weren't rushed for time. There were a lot of angry customers, and we saw a bunch of people walk out. Hire more people during the busy times. Back in northern California, there are legit like 3-4 people dedicated to making sandwiches. Y'all will definitely have to prepare for that because Ike's is clearly becoming a national thing. Austin's going to love Ike's. There will be people who don't want to pay the "elevated prices" for sandwiches, but let's be honest...Austin's sushi and ramen are overpriced too. SO you pick your battles.

Jason B.

Yelp
SOLID! Want to try a new Sandwich shop and Ike's popped up on Yelp. Wow what a find! Great new flavor options and the right chips! Yea Zaps but I digress what a unique delicious place! We always need new flavors and you nailed it! Will return !

Kendall P.

Yelp
I love this place! Went there the other day for the first time on my lunch break. Staff was friendly place was clean and best of all the sandwich was amazing. I got the green lantern with roast beef instead of steak and I loved it. I recommended this to my mother and how she should try it and how there's also healthier options for her to chose from. I will say that I will most likely become a regular costumer at this location :) Update: took my mother and stepdad and they also loved it as well!!

Andrew C.

Yelp
An import from SF (though they have multiple locations in Cali) - this place has some great sandwiches. The bread is crunchy yet soft and light, and the fillings are always a good balance of flavors. Since I swing by and stand in line in the Mission when in SF, I'm glad to see these guys pop up in S Austin. There are two sandwiches that are specific to this location: the Jimmy and Christy with roast beef, flaming bbq sauce, and pepperjack cheese; and the Higgins, vegetarian version made with vegan turkey. The other cool thing was that Ike himself was there this weekend. He came in while we were eating (though he was carting around a box labeled "Franklin's BBQ"). =) I opted for the Michael Jordan - a nice meatball sub and added some grilled mushrooms. It was great and I was excited to have Ike's again. Only minor complaint was wishing the meatballs were hotter (they were only warm). They also have Zapp's chips (and currently you can get a free bag with a Yelp check-in). Super excited that this joint is fairly close to work.
