We stopped in for an early dinner while strolling down Rodeo Drive and were seated right away, which was a pleasant surprise. The servers set the tone for the evening with their warmth and attentiveness, making us feel welcome from the start. The gnocchi caught our eye immediately, it looked quite different from the usual pesto-based dishes but ended up being an absolute standout, with flavors that easily hit a 10/10. We also tried the Scapece pizza, which was equally impressive. The burrata on top was fresh, creamy, and paired beautifully with the toppings. Every bite felt carefully thought through. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with great food, great service, and the perfect way to wrap up a day in Beverly Hills.

10/10 service. Rudy was absolutely kind & wonderful. Very attentive to everything we needed. He recommended the bread, olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette for appetizer. It was a 6/10. We were really hungry so it tasted like a 8/10. Still good! He recommended specials and 2 of 4 were ordered from our table. I ordered the lasagna and I just could not finish it. It was so good 9.5/10. I tried the tilapia, amazing with the fresh sautéed brccolini & baby carrots. My partner ordered the penne vodka pasta bowl, and it was amazing as well. The atmosphere was very quiet to a minimal. The price was super high. But worth the quality that was served. MUST TRY! I RECOMMEND!

If I could give this place ten stars, I would. Despite having visited many restaurants, I find this one to be outstanding. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, and the food is incredibly delicious! I have been here several times, and I truly believe it is worth it!

This is the Beverly Hills outlet of the fine dining Italian chain restaurant Il Fornaio. As usual, chain restaurants that try to maintain fine dining level of quality at each one of their outlets is very difficult. Aside from their pizza and salads, their main entree offering and pasta were just average. Also the service level is that of a standard pizza and pasta restaurant. You have to specifically ask to change the tableware and plates after each course. They sat us at a table for four when our reservation was for six people. They include a 3% Surcharge for whatever reason so expect a larger bill at the end. For reasonable parking around this swank neighborhood, go to crescent public parking (Whole Foods).

The host, server, and food were all amazing! They were very welcoming at kind. I got the gluten free vodka pasta and it was very very good. Good gf noodles! We went in on a Tuesday at 4:45ish

The service here is incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment you step in! This time, I enjoyed drinks with the girls, the wine selection and cocktails were fantastic. The ambiance is lovely, and I can’t wait to come back soon to enjoy their delicious food!

Came in on a humble with my daughter. Great service from Louis, the man knows the menu & his recommendations were spot on! Lasagna was Amazing. Sole with potatoes & spinach was Amazing! Best spinach I've Ever had! Best margarita I've ever had! First time in Beverly Hills but Fornaio will make me return. 💪🏽

Service was good, as they were thoughtful with clients. I had the worst burrata ever, it was not smooth inside like creamy as a good burrata is, also the prosciutto was thick and without a powerful taste - may be old or it was cut and out in the open for a while… My meat was fine, but I asked medium rare and it was definitely medium. All of that for a high amount of money

I am so saddened to hear that Il Fornaio is closing on Monday January 12th. The restaurant has been a neighborhood staple for 43 years. Wow! That's a long time to be in business. There are other locations but this I think was the first one and since it was the one I frequented it's the one I will miss. I have so many fond memories of this restaurant. I came here as a little girl with my family because it was casual enough for a well mannered child but fancy enough to please the adults. One time I decided to get into shape. Every time someone asked me out for lunch or dinner I said I wanted to go to Il Fornaio. I would order a bowl of the vegetable soup or vegetarian soup of the day and the Regina Salad. The salad did wild arugula, couscous, avocado, red onions, capers, raisins, and lemon oil dressing. It was a fabulous and filling meal that also kept me skinny. I could honestly eat it every day and never get bored. During Covid I came here and we ate outside on the sidewalk. We enjoyed watching the pedestrian scene and "staying safe" while being able to eat out again. I really missed going out and I felt comfortable here which was important during Covid time. Every Halloween Il Fornaio would have 1/2 price pizza. My family made a tradition to order it. I LOVED this tradition and I'm going to miss it this Halloween. Their pizza was delicious. One time I came here with a boyfriend because they had a cooking class in the back. They had a huge entertainment room in the back of the restaurant. I wish I had a chance to have a special event here to rent it out. We had so much fun as we watched the chef talk about how to prepare each dish and what was even better is that we got to taste it in the end. We ate seabass with golden raisins, baked pasta with eggplant, and a cannoli for dessert. They even had a party souvenir which was an Il Fornaio plate to hang on the wall. Last time I came here was on the Fourth of July last year. It was also dine-la and they had the best deal of any of the dine-la restaurants. Not all the dine-la deals are good but this one truly was one of the best in terms of value for money. It was a three course meal with the most delicious fish entree. Who doesn't love a good deal? We had a fabulous time! Lastly, in recent years they added a happy hour menu to the restaurant and it was fabulous. I did another review on that so I'll keep it short here but the food and drinks were just wonderful. I will miss the friendly waiters who have been there forever. They don't make them like that anymore. Arrivederci to a true "classic"!

Very rude waiter. At first we didn't think much of it but as the service went on it worsen. First he did not let us pick what we wanted. My brother's favorite food is lasagna so he ordered that and he told him no we're not doing that right now. Pick something else. Mind you we had made a 2PM reservation and it was not packed. My parents are not fluent in English so I usually order for them so I let him know that I'm ordering for both of them and he's like "and then and then just hurry up" After that, we ordered sparkling water for the table. After our meal came I asked for just water and he looked at me like if I ordered the most complicated drink and proceeded to poor the ice water inside the sparkling water glass I was drinking. I am a person that still tips even if the service was horrible but we were a party of 5 and ordered a good amount. I just regret not adding a note to let him know how rude he was. First and last time ever going to this restaurant.

Quaint, but if you need that extra space...this is not for you! Cozy and friendly venue. Mixed drinks are not their thing...stick to their Italian beer and wine. Ravioli with pink sauce was a hit! Delectable sauce all around. I tasted their short rib dish. The sauce was a bit too seasoned for me. Maybe the mashed potatoes is what tames the flavor. Though very tender...friends enjoyed it. Linguini with prawns tasted good but the prawns is what stood out...they had a grilled fresh taste, yum! I'd return for their pink sauce! Outstanding customer service. Merry Christmas World!

Good place if you want to have a leisurely lunch near the Rodeo Drive area. Was in the area mid August on a Saturday and me and my friend decided to just go here. We didn't have any reservations but were seated right away. There were a lot of tables available. Since we wanted a quick lunch we each just had pastas - it didn't end up to be quick as it takes sometime time before our food came out. I think their pizza also looked good but we didn't order any. I had the pappardelle ala norcilla and m friend had the Turtei d' aragosta. My pappardelle pasta was cooked well and you can tell it's made fresh, the sauce for me just had the right hint of truffle - not too overpowering. I actually finished my plate and normally anything too creamy or too rich can be too much for me but this one was just right. My friend's pasta was also good and filling, you can taste the lobster and seafood inside. She seemed to like it but it was heavy for me. The place has high ceilings, typical Italian restaurant vibe with white tablecloth and silverware. Price points around $30+ for our pasta dishes.

We made last-minute reservations on July 4th over the phone, and the staff was very accommodating. They let us sit outside since we had our dogs, which was perfect. Our server was incredibly friendly and upbeat--he truly seemed to love his job, which made our experience even better. The pasta and pizza we ordered were both delicious. Everything was clean, and the food came out at just the right time. Great experience all around!

We made a reservation but needed to sit in the bar side to get happy hour specials (M-F til 6pm). Bar service was very friendly and great knowledge of the alcohol selection! Can be a little dark inside but overall nice. Can dress casual but not shorts/flipflops vibe.

TOURIST SCAM!! We were there with my tourist guests. Our reservation was at 3 and we get there by 2:50. By the time we sat was 3:30. All good.. waiter yells to everyone in the place and does not even allow people decide their orders. Still all good.. my guests were from out of country and they tipped the waiter 50$ for 470$ bill. Waiter cut their way on the way exiting and put the bill on table and made them chose highest option of tip.. it was very rude!! This is not a street food restaurant!! I am local and i wish i was there to see it to give him his lesson.. i reported the business to health department, better business bureau and Beverly hill's chamber of commerce already.. i will also stop by to talk to owner/manager. They also have service charge on the bill. They scam tourists. Lets see if they can do it to locals also!

Feels like a quick trip to Italy. The food's amazing, though I was bummed the cacio e pepe wasn't on the menu. The setup is chill and relaxed but still structured, great overall dining vibe. The staff were all genuinely warm and attentive. Definitely the kind of place you want to come back to, for the food & great service.

Came in for lunch without a reservation but were quickly seated. This place seemed like a favorite, within a few minutes, their lunch rush began. They have table dining as well as bar top dining. Their happy hour specials looked great. Ordered the short rib stuffed ravioli. Was a great meal, with rich flavors. Different than the typical pesto stuffed ravioli. Our waiter was from Italy too which made it alll the more authentic. Overall a great place to check out.

Came here for a networking event and the private back room was booked. The event went smoothly and the food at Il Formaio was tasty. Parking garages are available nearby. I had the Caesar salad, chicken, and berry cheesecake - the portions were generous and I did like the service. Our waiter was prompt and efficient; he also constantly checked for water refills, which I appreciated. There are multiple locations of Il Fornaio, but I liked how this was in the heart of Rodeo and so convenient if you're walking around in the area.

This review is for happy hour only. There's a good selection of food and drink options at very reasonable prices and with full size portions. We had the crispy calamari which was very tender and the marinara was delicious. The atmosphere is very old school Italian. It is good for a casual weeknight dinner or happy hour. We will definitely return.

Went during lunch without reservation. We were seated quickly. The staff truly makes you feel like your in Italy. Space was decorated with holiday spirit. Their happy hour looked enticing. Would definitely come back to try that in the future. We had the Brussels sprouts with roasted bacon and onion. The ravioli stuffed with short rib entree was delicious. The creamy sauce with the mushroom paired well. They were stuffed nicely.

After a busy day at work in Beverly Hills, I walked a few blocks to enjoy an early dinner at one of my longtime favorite restaurants..."Il Fornaio" on North Beverly Drive. The restaurant never disappoints. When I entered the lovely and expansive space, I was greeted by Maria who I've known for 10+ years. We enjoyed some light banter, a few PC jokes and I even got her input and a few tips on how to make a simple, quick and tasty 'authentic' marinara sauce. She was either genuinely pleased that I was back again OR has excellent acting skills which certainly made me feel welcome. I ordered a freshly assembled and perfectly chilled "Caesar Salad" to start and 'Pappeedelle Alla Norcina" for my main course. Ivan was my server. Not his first rodeo. He's a super friendly, and pleasantly assertive server who was never obtrusive nor rushing me, but always circling nearby and attentive. He's truly a professional and helped me maneuver their 'new' updated menu. It was too early to drink (the sun was still out at 6 pm) so i ordered their version of homemade lemonade. Fresh juice, a bit of sugar and I think club soda which gave it an exciting fizz. For dessert I had the chocolate molten lava cake.Not only was the dessert awesome, but every staff member that I came in contact with was equally awesome! It wasn't just the delicious food, nor the delightful staff or the unique space that made my visit exceptional...it was a perfectly balanced mix of all three that contributed to this being another exceptional meal! It's not a question of '"will" I return to Il Fornaio...but rather "when".

They have a wonderful happy hour from 4-6p and lots of items on the menu to choose from. I enjoyed grabbing a quick seat at the bar and watching the spinning rotisserie as I awaited my food. Something soothing about it lol The pasta was good but nothing to run home to. I added so much crushed red pepper. The wine was yummy. The brussels were not my favorite. Now as far as the service, I was not too pleased. The server didn't acknowledge me until the woman (a different race) next to me waved him over to assist. It felt a little preferential there but I digress. The space was nice and not too stuffy.

Il Fornaio encapsulates the epitome of a wonderful traditional restaurant in an otherwise opulent Beverly Hills. Excellent , varied menu, served by a trained professional staff . We had the luxury of being served by Marco Leone who exudes energy , knowledge and engaging demeanor. I personally am so tired of all the Beverly Hills corporate restaurants , however Il Fornaio and staff are the epitome of a lovely culinary experiance.

Good: Ambiance is romantic, traditional but not stodgy. High ceilings render the space bright and airy. The location is great for peeking outside onto the street. Bad: Food was passably ok. Bread basket was nice but unfortunately not free...Margherita pizza was probably the best thing we ate. It came with a generous spread of mozzarella and a light, chewy dough. Linguini mare was mediocre at best, the pasta dull and one-dimensional, perhaps a tad overcooked as well. Bolognese was forgettable. Service was friendly but slow. Overall, would not come back.

Food is delicious. Came in on my birthday and the staff made me feel so special! Service was great. The vibe of this place is nice, lots of regulars that come in makes it feel like a neighborhood spot. The Taormina tiki was insanely delish.

Came here during a non lunch rush and service could have been better. Staff was kind, but they ignored us the entire time. Food was probably the best part about this experience. The Cristina is hands down my favorite pizza along with the grilled octopus. They charge for bread, just in case you wanted some. Inside the restaurant is really pretty and you get a nice view of the outside and cool cars.

I was able to dine at Il Fornaio- Beverly Hills for the last time on new year's day. I will miss the delicious food and the excellent service the staff provided. Manager Rudy would always come to our table to politely greet us and to check on us. Also waiter Pepe, who is an outstanding worker, always managed to brighten our visit with his affable demeanor. I am thankful to everyone there who made sure we had a good experience during the times we were there.

The place itself is more old. The service was normal. The pizza was amazing but the calamari was good imo. We also got the chicken mushroom pasta which was their best dish. It was good but nothing crazy. The vodka pasta i got tasted like mac and cheese instead of vodka pasta. I probably would go somewhere else next time. Not bad just not my personal favorite.

We had such a wonderful experience at this Italian restaurant, and a big part of that was thanks to our waiter, Rudy. From the moment we were seated, Rudy was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He knew the menu well, gave great recommendations, and made sure everything came out perfectly timed and exactly how we wanted it.

We walked into a mostly empty restaurant and asked the host to seat us at a different table. He acted like he was doing us a favor, shoved us into a tiny table, and sneered, "Please eat and leave we're busy." A waiter stopped by, and when we asked to switch tables, the manager an arrogant, entitled below average height told us we didn't need to explain anything and that we weren't moving. When I pressed him on his attitude, he smugly replied that he takes these things "seriously and personally." We left, furious, and will never return.

We came here during a non busy hour. Great service by Rudy. The food is good as well.

Nice place situated in the heart of Beverly Hills. Parking was easy. Tons of public parking structures nearby. Street parking looked chaotic didn't try. Food was very good. Had the sole and everything on the plate was well cooked and delicious. Service was amazing. Definitely top-tier service from begining to end. Price seemed consistent with everywhere else in Beverly Hills. Certainly not cheap but not crazy. Overall I really enjoyed this place. Midday the dinning room was empty and a nice escape from the craziness of the tourists outside. If I am looking for a nice place to sit down for an easy meal, this is the spot.

Rudy was amazing! I had the pear salad and it was absolutely wonderful! We had the best service when visiting.

Burrata Con Prosciutto Recently I really like prosciutto I used to eat burrata with fruits This time it was served with ham and it was pretty good Linguine Mare Chiaro The pasta was pretty fragrant It contained shrimp and two kinds of shellfish Except for one shellfish which was a bit fishy, ​​the others were pretty fresh Salmon Alla Griglia Fried salmon with spinach and potatoes The potatoes were baked and fragrant The spinach was also cooked very soft Filetto Di Costata My suggestion is If you come to eat Italian food Don't order steak Just eat the steak made by Americans The meat is good It's just not good enough But the steak sauce and the mashed potatoes they made themselves are really amazing

Our favorite Restaurant with the most beautiful Ambience overlooking Beverly Hills. Service is magnificent and the Food is always amazing! If you're in the mood for delicious Pasta and Wine this is the place!

I went to Il Fornaio yesterday for lunch and it was as great as it was when they reopened almost 35 years ago. The food was excellent and the service was on point. Putting in a good word for Rudy our server who made my friend and I feel like royalty.

Whenever I'm in town, this is my go to Italian restaurant. I love the food so much and everything is just really amazing. The location is great and the vibes are through the roof also don't even get me started on the service. It's so good easy five stars. This is one of the best restaurants.

Ate lunch at Il Fornaio at the Beverly Hills location today. Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM the restaurant was not busy at all. 2 of were seated promptly. The waiter approached and asks if we would like water. We said yes, please add a lemon. He walks away and returned 5 minutes later without the lemon. Asked if we wanted bread, we said yes, again 5 minutes pass and he returns only to ask again if we want bread! The nice busboy brought not only the lemon we never received but also poured the oil and vinegar in the dish to go with the bread. Kudos to him. We ordered the octopus for our appetizer, Caesar salad and a pizza for the main course. The appetizer did not arrive first per our request. Our salad and pizza arrived via the host not the waiter. I asked where our appetizer was and he disappeared and brought it a few moments later. All three item placed on the table to be eaten on a small plate for bread. When we asked our waiter for a larger plate when he walked by our table, he brought a hot plate to us. Who puts a cold Caesar salad on a hot plate? ( plate was held with a napkin because it was too hot to handle). The waiter rushed by and asked quickly "you ok?" Service was horrible. The restaurant only had a few tables taken. Very disappointed in the service we received. Food however, was quite good. Restaurants really need to find a balance with service and food or many long time customers will not return.

What a treat!!! Quaint unassuming and welcoming!!! Excellent neighborhood Italian eatery... Rudy welcomed us and placed us at a lovely table... service was excellent and Ivan was way more than competent... it was a warm and relaxing end to a fabulous vacation...food was EXCELLENT!!!

The service is always great the servers are witty and kind. The food is great with very consistent flavor. I tried three of their pastas with my favorite being the vodka pasta. It's a classic that always tastes like a pink sauce pasta with perfect hints of bacon. Second place would be the mushroom and chicken pasta which is a bit heavy but it's still great. I think i don't love seafood pasta but i still enjoyed the lobster ravioli. Ambiance was lovely!

Writing this review after a twenty year love affair with this place feels surreal . I first discovered Il Fornaio , and or more specifically the margarita pizza at Il Fornaio because a high school classmate of mine offered me a slice after school when her mother her up . I still remember thinking this is one of the best slices of pizza I ever had . Simple and unassuming looking and yet packed with so much flavor . How do they do it ? What are the Italians secret? How come most commercial chains we've all grown up don't even come close ? They didn't get the memo or perhaps most likely it was never published ..kept hidden . I've actually travel to Italy and this pizza, which has its origins in Italy as the restaurant was founded in milano ...is better than the pizza I had in the motherland . What I also really like is that the pizza is still pretty affordable . After years and years and years of being around $17, they finally raised the price to be $21 which is still pretty affordable especially for Beverly Hills . Pro tip is also to come here during happy hour ( 3pm-6pm M-F) when the Margherita pizza is $13 and you get two hours of free parking before five at the nearby public parking structure on Beverly . Ciao ciao for now !!

My husband and I participated in DineLA 2023 here and had the most incredible dining experience. We left fully satisfied from the delicious food, but LOVED the customer service and vibe of this restaurant. Parking is of course tough throughout this neighborhood/area, but the food is worth the trouble. I wasn't super fond of the bruschetta (since it wasn't traditional), but it was still delicious. We will definitely be back!

Last Sunday (July 2025) 4 of us decided to have lunch at Il Fornaio Beverly Hills, we paid for 4 people:$250.00 and note: No Alcohol... we asked to sit outside ... big mistake ... took 25 minutes to have a waiter coming over ... we only ordered tap water, Diet Coke and lemonade: $6.00 non refillable.... Then finally waiter came and we asked what to order: he said: well ... food here is not what used to be.... Right there we should have left. I ordered what they call: "gamberoni" which means " Shrimp with large legs... well... they charted for 6 small shrimps (which were not the real gamberonis they used to serve) $60,00 - it was a very deceptive dish... shrimp... the entire lunch was served after 45 minutes waiting ... all same time and cold... nothing was good... also we needed to go inside the restaurant because waitress doesn't come unless u ask them. They are not attentive, they never came to ask us if we needed anything, no salt, no pepper, olive oil and Parmesan came because we asked and they don't live at the table. They remove immediately... the Cesar salad was $20.00 and the lettuce was so small, also there was no dressing and the bread was old and mushy... the pizza was salty and poor quality of mozzarella and the dough was so hard that not even my dog wanted ... the lasagna was served cold and the meat did not taste good ... the chicken alla bolognese was terrible as well... again ... if we needed anything one of us had to get out of our chair and go inside to ask if any waitress could help us, they not even bother to ask if we wanted dessert... (thank God we did not waste more money on it). Experience was horrible and we called the manager Maria afterwards to comment... she was terrible and start screaming at me over the phone, what a horrible experience and how can a manager of Il Fornaio be so disrespectful and rude to a customer that spent $250.00 for a terrible service and meal and still hang up on me? my advice : don't waste your $$$ there I will regret!

So sorry to see Il Fornaio Beverly Hills close up shop on Jan. 11. But they had a good run. We stopped by for lunch on Friday to have our last meal and say goodbye. Rudy was our server and was his normal, friendly and informative self. Hopefully he'll find a new spot on the west side of L.A. Now both Il Fornaio and Prego are gone. Apparently Sant Ambroeus from NYC is coming as the new tenant.

Follow up to my review: The management of this restaurant chain decided to write me privately, and double down by misquoting the law, and condescendingly tell me I'd be happier and more comfortable at a table...Thank you for telling me where I'm more comfortable!!! Once again, as I stated in my review, I have no right to complain if they have a policy, that's perfectly ok, but they have chosen to "educate me". Thanks but no thanks. I don't need a made up civics lesson from the manager of a restaurant chain. After 35 years of patronage, we were happily and legally served at the counter of a competitor's restaurant. This is just bad business policy. Below is the actual law that they "quoted" THANKS BUT NO THANKS "In California, the law that allows minors to eat at a restaurant bar where food is served is found in the California Business and Professions Code, specifically Section 25665. This section permits minors to enter and remain in certain areas of establishments that serve alcohol, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian and the establishment primarily serves food." Here is their response, actually misquoting the same law "Thanks for your feedback, and accept my apologies for any inconvenience we may have caused you but just wanted to mention that California law is very strict and and only a person that can prove to be 21 year can seat at bar (Section 25665 of the California Alcoholic Beverage)Our manager was happy to accommodate you at any table of our restaurant, including the area behind the bar where we also serve food ( even though we do not serve breakfast or brunch for quite a while now) and families seat all the time and it will have been more comfortable and more spacious too Again sorry for your disappointment but rest assured that we try our best to accommodate our guests requests but also want to follow law and regulations properly hope you will visit us again soon and looking forward to meet you in person and make sure your experience will be great grazie

Manuel was amazing he was so kind and hardworking every 3 times we went here. But our server Ruthi was never there when we needed him but always Manuel was there to help us and give us what we need. So thank you Manuel. Keep up the good work!

loved the interior, service and the food we got an aperol spritz, margherita pizza, vodka pasta, sorbet and the tiramisu. everything was great but my favorite was the pizza and the tiramisu for sure. definitely would visit again

Amazing food! Great sole with lemon butter and beet salad. Rudy was the best waiter! We had a wonderful time. Totally recommend this place amidst shopping in BH!

Chicken parm was dry, flat, and chewy. Pasta didn't taste any better than if you boil some barilla noodles and add some canned marinara on top. pizza was very floppy, soggy, and lacked taste. service was fine i guess. cute restaurant, horrible food. olive garden is better than this.

I actually had a reservation for another restaurant and landed on this one on accident, but they seated us right away. They were very sweet and nice. The food was amazing. We ordered a little bit of everything, but the best one was the truffle pasta and my lobster pasta. Kind of forgot the name. We sat outside and it was a nice evening for that.
