The Best Waterfront Restaurant Views in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This upscale Italian restaurant has outposts all over California, including in Beverly Hills, but the Coronado location is highly sought after for its coastal setting and spacious venue fit for big family outings and special celebrations. Pizza, pasta, and hot dishes are on deck — ask for the Linguine Mare Chiaro for a thin seafood pasta dressed with clams, shrimp, scallops, and a roasted cherry tomato sauce. Larger groups can choose from a selection of family feasts complete with salad, pizza, pasta, bread, and tiramisu." - Roxana Becerril

The Best Restaurants in Coronado | Eater San Diego

"With one of the best city skyline views on Coronado, this longstanding Italian restaurant sits near the Coronado Ferry Terminal. Grab a seat on the patio in the Tuscan-style space and grab a glass of vino to sip alongside plates like ravioli with braised short rib or pollo Toscano with rosemary chicken, cauliflower, and potatoes." - Helen I. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been in SD area. Whether you want to go for lunch or dinner it is a must stop on your trip. Food is amazing and service is top notch. Make sure commenting to the hostess if you’re celebrating, we went for a birthday celebration and received a delicious gelato as a treat. Also, if you visit at night, this place has one of the nicest views of SD bay. I share a couple from a recent visit… do not miss this place!!!

This place serves Italian food in Coronado. The location is pretty good, and so are the prices. The service was okay, and the food was very salty for my taste. I had to keep watering it down or eat cheese to lower the salt. I tried the grilled salmon and Burrata Con Prosciutto and Salmone Alla Griglia and they both were heavy on salt.

Google
The food was delicious! Ordered the Gnocchi appetizer, Caesar salads, rigatoni Alla vodka and the lasagna. The view from our patio table was outstanding. The only issue was we were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was so busy that the service was a little slow. We did not wait long for our food or drinks once we ordered. For an example, we ordered an appetizer, which came right away but we finished the appetizer before the waitress had come back to take our meal order.

What a beautiful location by the water with a view of the bay and San Diego skyline! And if you’re lucky, you just might get to hear a concert across the bay from the Rady’s shell. Shout out to our server, Valeria, for being so friendly and efficient and taking the time to explain and also correct something that wasn’t up-to the mark. There was a change in the menu between our two visits in two weeks and some of the food we were looking forward to wasn’t there anymore. The one thing that was still there and I hope they don’t remove is the butternut squash ravioli. It is one of the best I have had and they give the option to add a protein to it. I got the salmon which was so fresh and done just right. Highly recommend ordering this dish while it’s still on the menu. The bruschette assortite, roasted cauliflower and burrata con proscuitto were very good. The tiramisu was very good too. The Vulcano (chocolate lava cake) is also excellent but unfortunately they didn’t have that that evening and I don’t know if that’s also being scrapped. And the espresso martini is one of the best I’ve had. The Milano mule is also made well. Not sure why all the menu changes and that too during tourist season amid spring break. But this is a restaurant we love and keep going back to.

Great Location, Tasty Pasta, and Friendly Service We had a lovely dining experience at Il Fornaio on Coronado Island. The waterfront setting is absolutely beautiful—perfect for a relaxing meal with scenic views of the bay and the San Diego skyline. The atmosphere feels upscale yet welcoming, and the staff were attentive, professional, and friendly throughout our visit. I ordered the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and it was the highlight of the meal. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the sauce had just the right balance of creaminess and flavor—not too heavy, not too bland. Truly satisfying. We also tried the fried calamari. While it was fresh and crispy, it wasn’t particularly memorable—good, but not a standout. Overall, if you’re looking for a scenic spot with solid Italian food and great service, Il Fornaio at Coronado is worth the stop. Just come for the pasta and the view!

Everything was excellent. Views, house made pasta, bakery fresh bread. Highly recommend for family or a nice date. Tons of parking a plus in this area!

Google
This place has a beautiful atmosphere and the view while you eat is gorgeous! The wine selection is vast and the menu seems to be authentic. With a group of 8 We tried many dishes, the burrata antipasto Is a must! Having lived in Sicily for a few years I was excited to see arancini on the menu! The Tuscan chicken was delicious but I was surprised to bite into a very undercooked carrot it was still crunchy and not very warm. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the pizza was good. We were a big group and accommodations had to be made for us all to fit. Having walked into this beautiful restaurant my expectations for the service were a bit high. I feel we may have bothered the servers by having to move chairs around. We had good service but with the Atmosphere and prices I did expect more. The service was just okay. There were many waiters who answered our questions and got our orders correct but nothing above and beyond not very friendly or talkative. They do have a parking lot right in front, and the restaurant is right next to the water.

Google
Highly recommend eating here. I wanted to treat myself to a delicious birthday dinner, and have been craving steak for awhile, but being pregnant did not want to risk eating my normal medium rare steak. I ordered the Filetto Al Vino Rosso medium well (no pink) and my waiter was so nice with no judgement. The waiter kindly asked me to cut into the steak and ensured it was cooked to my preference. It was cooked perfectly, no pink. Yet, the meat still melted in my mouth - the chef exceeded my expectations, and it made the list of one of my top steak dinners. The Bruschette Assortite appetizer and Vulcano dessert were just as delicious. I was highly satisfied with the food and service.

Yelp
We had a great experience, everything was take care of by Mia, great person and you are lucky if she runs your table. 5 Stars to Mia the greatest food runner and server, she is very charismatic and great professiona.

Yelp
Love the view. Love that they don't charge for parking. I thought the antipaste cheese/meat board could've had a bit more on it (for $28). My pasta and meat sauce was okay, although my wife tried it, and loved it. She also loved her meal (can't remember what it was right now). The place was packed on a Saturday night (a few days before Christmas). The waiter gave us a great strawberry/vanilla gelato dessert (as it was our anniversary), and it was delicious. My wife loved her Espresso Martini, and I loved my Margarita (the drinks were $15 each). Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
Came here on NY day with my bf. Got seated outside because we wanted to enjoy the view (which was beautiful). We ordered pizza, pasta, calamari and 2 cocktails. The food was pretty good but nothing memorable. The only downside I have of this place was regarding the server. I had like 3 different person help me and kept saying "your server will be here in a second" back n forth a few different times. So it was kinda unorganized. Overall, if you're looking to eat somewhere with a nice view, this is an option.

Yelp
First time there. Went for bday dinner. Food was really good and so was the service. I had the Cesar salad and the Salmon. The salad was excellent. The salmon was cooked perfectly but needed a little salt. A dash had of salt would have made it perfect. I didn't try my families dishes, but they cleaned their plates so I guess they were good! They gave me a sundae for my bday dessert and that was nice. I would definitely return here

Yelp
We came at the advice of our wedding planner to have our wedding dinner here after our ceremony on the beach and we couldn't have been more thrilled! It's in a beautiful location overlooking the water and the San Diego skyline from Coronado. There are several different event options depending on your wedding party. I reserved our table in advance to make sure we had our table. The service was great. We had people arriving at slightly different times and they were efficient at serving us all. The food was really good. I ordered linguine mare chiaro ($33) filled with seafood and it was so good. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. They also served the cake we brought flawlessly. We also brought our own wine which they served for a corkage fee. Overall, this is a great spot to have a wedding dinner when you're in Coronado. Thank you so much to the staff here for being the perfect ending to our wedding night. I definitely recommend this restaurant... and plan to come back!

Yelp
Celebrated my husband's birthday with delicious pasta dinners and a dessert. Started with delicious Cestino Del Pane (freshly baked bread) with olive oil and balsamic. For dinner we had the delicious and creamy Rigatoni Alla Vodka (without bacon) and with mouth watering Ravioli Brasato Norcina. Both highly recommend pasta dishes! The ambiance was warm with the fireplace going inside. We requested a table near the window and they accommodated our request. We can't wait to eat here again soon!

Yelp
Great ambiance and decor. The views of the city are great! Easy parking on the front. The food is good. Varied menu of Italian classics. Service on the patio was very very slow. We felt our server had us abandoned there and kept tapping on the glass to try to catch his attention. Other employees saw us but not him. That needs most improvement.

Yelp
The food here was fabulous! The views are equally as stunning! We got an assortment of different foods from pastas, to appetizers and the bruschetta was DELICIOUS!(Yall must get it when coming here). Everything even the inside was clean. It was very warm and inviting feeling. The service was excellent as well, and they did not hesitate to make sure you had what you needed.

Yelp
I recently had lunch out at this location and enjoyed the view to downtown on the patio!! We each ordered a cocktail and the brussel sprouts, Cavoletti Granilatti. My old fashioned was perfect! We also had the Carpaccio, very thinly sliced beef. I've had it better at other restaurants. But it was fine drizzled with the balsamic that came with the order of bread. We also enjoyed the lasagna that arrived bubbling in a cast iron skillet! I would highly recommend this spot for out of towners. But make sure to make reservations!! Service was great too!

Yelp
Had a cousin visiting from WA who requested pasta for dinner. I told him perfect, I just know of a nice place. Called in and spoke to Kelly who was very pleasant on the phone and was able to accommodate my last minute request for reservation. Food was great, ingredients and pasta was fresh as always. I didn't even have to ask my cousin if he enjoyed his food, his cleaned up plate says it all. I should've taken a before and after photo of his plate :) Place was perfect to catch up and talk, not loud that you couldn't hear each other. We were also seated by the window overlooking the city. We had an excellent dinner with Patricio. He was so patient and answered all my cousin's questions on the menu, and shared some of his recommendations. Patricio also came several times to check on us and filled our wine glasses. So we never had to look and flag him for what we need. So pleased that my cousin had a nice dinner experience! Thanks Il Fornaio! Great food, great place, great service!

Yelp
2 years later and it's still my and my Husband's favorite place to go. There is also a location in Del Mar that we sometimes go to as well. At this point we've had just about everything on the menu. I think the only thing we weren't crazy about was the chicken. My personally favorite would be the butternut squash ravioli with amaretto. Its seasonal so might not always be on the menu. The il fornaio wine is one of my favorites and just recently purchased an entire bottle to take home.

Yelp
Very fancy, yet approachable! You melt right into the booth and the service makes it hard to leave. The view is phenomenal and it's not even the best part!! And this has just been within the first five minutes of entering this breathtaking establishment. I'm excited to take a bite of their tasty lasagna, it came with a high recommendation from staff.

Yelp
I had been eagerly anticipating a visit to this well-regarded restaurant, so for my birthday, my brother, husband, and I decided to head there for happy hour to celebrate. We were all excited to sample the renowned cocktails and dishes. To kick things off, I ordered a tiki cocktail, my husband chose an old fashioned, and my brother opted for sangria. Each drink was a masterpiece in its own right--beautifully crafted and delightful. We enjoyed them so much that we didn't hesitate to order a second round. For food, we decided on a margarita pizza, ravioli with spinach, cauliflower rosemary, and some bruschetta. The bruschetta was notably crispy and flavorful. The cauliflower dish, while tasty, was unfortunately too greasy for our liking. The pizza and ravioli, however, were somewhat disappointing. They were just average and didn't stand out as something special. If you're planning to visit for happy hour, I'd recommend choosing a seat on the patio near the bar for some lovely views. Overall, the standout of our visit was definitely the drinks; the food, sadly, didn't meet our expectations. Another small letdown was that the restaurant didn't acknowledge my birthday in any way. Considering its popularity and reputation in Coronado, I had hoped for a little something extra to make my day feel special. Nonetheless, it was a memorable outing with family, marked by mixed experiences.

Yelp
Made our reservation 3 days in advance for a Saturday evening for 5:30, we walked in around 5:15 they sat us down right away. The hostess was very helpful. After being seated we were greeted by our server Antonio who was very helpful and friendly. The food came out quick and warm! It was delicious. & the view speaks for itself!

Yelp
My family had dinner here at the beautiful Coronodo location twice in the last 3 months. On both occasions we were warmly taken care of with excellent attention from the hostess to the servers and manager. The lamb was exquisite the 1st time while homemade lasagna was 'to die for' the 2nd time. Both with excellent red wine pairings. Having run a company in northern Italy I know the cuisine well enough to judge :). Lastly, dont you dare leave without trying the Tiramisu. We will return!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely intimate dinner the night before the wedding. We recommend the lasagna, pasta with seafood, pizza, volcano cake, and our server took the best care of us Thank you Amy and Ted for making the night before our wedding memorable. Everything was perfect.

Yelp
Had a nice birthday dinner here. It's early spring so the weather was clear and beautiful but still a little chilly, we sat out on the patio overlooking the convention center and Coronado bridge. Our waiter and busser were bother very friendly. We had lots of appetizers - loved the calamari and the fried zucchini flowers. Drinks were good, though my "Sorrento King" tasted a little like a campfire. The pastas and seafoods we had for main courses were all great, as was the tiramisu.
google avatar

Yelp
Me and my husband love this place! The rigatoni alla vodka is amazing every time and the service was also incredibly, but the issue we have every time is when we ordered a meal that has a side of veggies and potato's the veggies and potato's are always undercooked. The potato's were very hard but the fish itself was very good
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
Go for the skyline view of San Diego, stay for the best Italian food you can get around here. I love the upscale, rustic feel of this place and how they have an open kitchen. Our server, Ricardo, patiently provided excellent recommendations on everything from wine to food. The branzino was a very generous portion and fresh, and so are all the salads. The butternut squash ravioli is a must!!!! I can't recommend it enough. The tiramisu is also delicious (and a classic). I can't wait to come back here.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner and to try the food at the suggestion of family who is from the area. Stunning views of downtown San Diego from the windows. The server was helpful and polite but could tell he was very busy with the evening rush. I prefer my calamari to be a bit more crisp but it was still very good. The filet I ordered was cooked and seared to absolute perfection.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
A nice and relaxing spot overlooking the San Diego bay. Great view and not touristy at all on the weekdays. The handmade pasta is delicious. We ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese, very tasty and al dente. The calamari is really fresh, it is one of best I have had. Service is very attentive and the receptionist is very friendly. What more could we ask for? The restaurant is right by the costal walk, a nice walk before/after a meal is very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Service was great! View was great! Holiday vibes were great! And most importantly, food was great! If you check in, you get free bruschetta. Since our party had nut allergies they were super accommodating, as one of the breads had pine nuts. The bruschetta was so good! Such a perfect appetizer to start the meal. The roasted garlic brought out a bunch of delicious flavor that mixed well with the tomatoes on top. It was my first time eating truffle and wow let me tell you it complemented the bread and cheese very nicely. We ordered 2 pastas to share amongst the table. The rigatoni alla vodka and the linguine mare chiaro. Wow was the rigatoni pasta so good! The texture if the noodle was soft yet bouncy it was super delicious l. I was hoping that the vodka sauce would be more flavorful, but it was still very good. For the linguine, the noodles were nothing special texture wise, but the sauce and seafood was amazing. The sauce was delicious with a garlic smooth tomato wine sauce. The seafood selection in the pasta was also delicious as well. There 3 of us, and there was 3 of each type of seafood which was perfect for sharing. Best combo would be the rigatoni in place of the linguine for the mare chiaro pasta dish. We also got a pizza parmigiana to share. The pizza was ok. I was hoping that it would be more flavorful with the sauce and a bit crunchier than soft with the breading as its supposed to be a thin pizza. The good thing was the eggplant pieces were huge! Topped off the pizza with the sauce from our linguine pasta and it was perfect. If I came back, I would just stick with the pastas. Overall good vibes!

Yelp
We ate here on our first and last night of our vacation. The view is absolutely beautiful looking across the bay to San Diego The staff was super friendly both times. Only exception was one person had on too much patchouli and it was overpowering everything when they walked by. Our food was amazing both times, we walked away full and happy.

Yelp
Thank you for a lovely evening last night Il Fornaio Coronado! They were able to accommodate my family last minute (a large group of 16) & we couldnt have been more happy. Yelp
First time trying this place. While the food was cooked well and drinks were good. Views were nice from the patio. The multiple hostesses could work on their mannerisms They were kinda rude and not welcoming lol. When my party walked in and checked in for our reservations they were acting as if we were bothering them during a dinner rush, spoiler alert it was dead empty and probably only had a handful of guest in this very big and spaced out establishment. Prices are a little high but it's what is expected for Coronado establishment. But the saving grace were the actual services, they should be the ones working the host station. This isn't vanderpump rules ‍‍

Yelp
We started off at the bar for a few drinks while ate table was being prepared. Caesar was our bartender and is very good at his job. Not only were the drinks good, but service was 5 out of 5. After sitting done for dinner and the very was very nice but it was 15 mins before we were greeted by our server. We got our main course the same time we got our food and bread as we finished dinner. Asked if we wanted parmesan cheese on our food after 3/4 of it was gone. Food was good but not over the top with flavor.

Yelp
First time to this location I have been to the delmar location The view is amazing We had andrew as our server and he was exceptionally friendly and prompt. Thank you andrew The food was very good appetizers were very good. Bruchette was very good, Zucci flower yum yum Overall great experience and will come back

Yelp
Very crowded. Ordered the Margarita pizza which was not a margarita pizza at all but just a plain cheese pizza. Kitchen has no idea what a margarita pizza is. Waiter was attentive at first and then... disappeared not to be seen again. It was the holidays and I understand, but... Il Fornaio does not do pizza and the wait staff was overwhelmed. Ambiance was good with great views outside.

Yelp
With a location like this, it's very hard to go wrong - and they didn't. This review covers both our visits: appetizer and dinner. We sat outside on their side patio for appetizers, and on another night inside for dinner: both locations had great views. Outside had the super Coronado afternoon weather - can't be beat. The staff member for our appetizer and drinks was attentive. The staff member for dinner was slow: drinks were ordered first and arrived after food was served and he arrived with grated cheese halfway through the meal. There is parking immediately at the restaurant, what we've seen over the years (we have walked by frequently) is there are parking spots available except on key holidays - then it's jammed. For our appetizer we had the Melanzane Infornate: in other words, fried eggplant layered with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. As you can see in my pic, the finishing got a little out of control. But the tomato sauce still had its rich and deep flavors. The creaminess of the cheese melded with the eggplant. The crusted bread crumbs added a nice crunchy texture component. On a different night for dinner, we had the Insalata Bietole (beet salad). I know beets can be overpowering, but since they were cooked, they didn't have that strong flavor. The addition of yellow beets also softens their strong flavor. But with the combination of the goat cheese topping, this makes for a robust and rich flavor. This is supposed to come with a vinaigrette salad dressing, either ours was missing or the dressing was exceedingly light. But it still was a fresh and robust salad. We also shared the Amatriciana. First and most plentiful, see my pic, was the "pasta tubes". These were cooked as you would expect and acted as a good carrier for the sauce. As you can see from my pic, the tomato sauce is fairly light. Its flavor is enhanced with the richness and saltiness of the pork guanciale (pork cheek) and pecorino cheese. It's a flavorful, yet relatively light pasta dish.

Yelp
So good! Was in town for a beautiful dinner with family, had such a beautiful table with amazing views of downtown San Diego and the bay. The ambiance is SUPERB! And our waiter was so attentive and so nice! The food was so so good! A must

Yelp
I had dinner here, on x-MAs eve. It was quite delicious. I had the Seabass was cooked so well. The flavors were hitting on the right notes in my mouth. Service was great we were checked on an appropriate amount of times, our sever did a great job at keeping me happy, my date had to step away for a longish moment. Ambiance was a 10/10 next to the water beautiful view, clean restrooms, appreciated all the decor as well, was very palpable. I don't like too much clutter or decoration. I hope you even joy the food and vibes as much as I did.

Yelp
We treated my daughter and her husband to dinner last night-they just arrived from Nashville .. we were warmly welcomed and sat right away. Our very nice waiter was attentive and friendly. We all enjoyed the delicious bread, salads and our main course. The pasta specials were enjoyed and I especially loved the cioppino -everyone loved their food. While this is a chain restaurant-it feels like a welcoming, special place. We look forward to our next visit!

Yelp
This place has a fantastic view and is right on the water. I started with Carpaccio and had the Insalata de Pere with salmon for my entree. The food was spot on and the salad surprisingly more tasty than I expected. Service was very accurate and friendly. This is a great place to sit outside on a sunny day. Remember to tip well.

Yelp
This visit rating 3.5 I know I've had in past visits amazing experiences. I don't know why it was different this visit. Mom likes this place for its great views. We were also celebrating a birthday in the family. We usually order for the whole party multiple of dishes to enjoy. I felt the server didn't like that cause he seemed irritated after we told him our plans and it took a while for him to return. Maybe he was just not having a good day. Whatever it was it showed. As soon as we placed our order, the food came out quickly. We ordered the following.. *CALAMARETTI FRITTI ( 3 orders) -lightly floured & deep fried baby squid | spicy marinara Can't go wrong with calamari! Always delicious. * FIORI DI ZUCCA (2 orders) -fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozzarella & parmigiano reggiano; served with tartar sauce & spicy marinara Delicious! *RIGATONI ALLA VODKA (3 orders) pasta tubes with bacon, vodka-cream-tomato sauce & grana padano It was ok. Family always orders this. *CASARECCE ALLA NORCINA ( 1order) twisted short pasta with chicken breast, white truffle oil, porcini & champignon mushrooms, parsley & grana padano-cream sauce My favorite of all the pastas. *INSALATA REGINA ( 4 orders 1without tomatoes) -wild arugula, couscous, avocado, tomatoes, red onions, capers & raisins with lemon-olive oil dressing I actually enjoyed the salad without tomatoes. It tasted less acidic and much more flavorful. *CRISTINA (3 pizzas) -fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, shaved grana padano, mushrooms & wild arugula; drizzled with white truffle oil This visit, the pizza seemed cold and not as good as in the past. *TIRAMISÙ (2 orders) -treviso-style tiramisù with ladyfingers soaked in rum & espresso, layered with mascarpone & topped with a dusting of cocoa powder That was yummy. It's unusual for us to have a lot of leftovers.. (We took home a lot of salad, pasta and a whole pizza ) Our experience this visit was ok. The food wasn't as great as in past visits. Again, maybe it was an off day and we sure noticed it.

Yelp
This place is INCREDIBLE. The view is amazing. Almost the best part about this place is that every single table has a view, I was worried before making a reservation that I should've requested it, but it happened anyway! The food was good. My boyfriend got the rigatoni all alla vodka which was good, but nothing to write home about. I prefer it spicy, but for those who don't it would be a good option. I got the ravioli on the specials menu, and it was much more of an acquired taste. The ravioli noodles were pesto, and filled with Italian sausage & cheese (not sure what kind, sorry!!) the marinara sauce on it was spicy and there was a bit of pesto. The bread and vinegar costs $3 & it was nice and warm. The reason I give this place 4 stars is that we were there for an hour and 45 minutes, and didn't even start eating until we had been there for 45 minutes. Our calamari was cold and soggy which was really disappointing but we only saw our waiter 3 times and it wasn't worth it to wait longer for hot food because we were hungry. I ordered a French 77 and they had made it for the first time and it was delicious. Overall; INCREDIBLE VIEWS, good food, good drinks, we had good espresso and tiramisu as well, but the service was too slow and the appetizers were cold.

Yelp
We had a great meal and great service. Everything came out really fast that could be good or bad depending on the experience you're trying to have, but we were so hungry this night we weren't complaining. I wish I remember the name of our server who was really good. I ordered the dessert based on the fact that Nutella was in the description for the bread pudding. I must know as a little disappointed I didn't taste more of that but otherwise everything was great.

Yelp
I truly regret coming here. If you're thinking of dining here, save yourself the disappointment (and $600). The food was shockingly subpar for the price point. To make matters worse, the service was inattentive and unfriendly, leaving us feeling completely neglected. For anyone in Coronado, I strongly recommend skipping this place altogether and heading next door to the Greek restaurant instead.

Yelp
Dear Restaurant Manager's I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my experience from our visit to your restaurant last night, as we have always enjoyed dining with our family. We arrived at approximately 7:45 PM and encountered an unfortunate situation with the hostess at the entrance. After waiting 30 minutes with a 13-month-old baby and four adults, we were offered outdoor seating. Given the chilly weather and the lack of an umbrella for our baby, we felt it was not a suitable option. When we expressed our discomfort with sitting outside, the hostess appeared frustrated and informed us that there were no available tables inside, despite noticing several open tables. This experience left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I appreciate the challenges of managing a busy restaurant, but I believe that customer service should prioritize the comfort and needs of families, especially those with young children. We ultimately chose to leave and went to Peohe's, where we received a much warmer welcome. Thank you for taking the time to address this matter. I hope it can lead to improvements in the future. Best regards,

Yelp
Very poor service. Visited around 7 pm on 12/16. The host was very cold and unwelcoming. Once we were sat outside, we waited for 20 minutes and no server came. The server was helping tables around us but just ignored us for some reason. We ended up leaving after 20 minutes. If you are looking for good Italian in Coronado, I recommend Garage Buona Forchetta down the street - great service and great food. It seems like II Fornaio survives mostly as a tourist trap.

Yelp
I would say this dining experience is worth it for the views and location! Came here for a birthday celebration & they were accomodating with the seating. Drinks were pretty good, I didn't 100% enjoy the flavor of mine but that's a personal preference, not an issue with the drink itself. Pizza was delicious, seafood pasta was a little dry but nothing horrible. Views were great and service was friendly.

Yelp
Serves was great and food was amazing. Lots of fun and laughs. Our server Ricky was one of the best servers. He took all of our jokes. Thank you.

Yelp
We had a family celebration at Il Forniao and we had a fantasic time! The food was delicious and the view was outstanding. Best of all was our server Sterling. She was very polite and friendly and had great menu suggestions. It was such a busy night but Sterling did an excellent job making sure we were very well taken care of. We are really looking forward to coming back and will make sure to ask for Sterling as our server when we do.

Yelp
I love this place but reservations are recommended, however small and impromptu tables 2-3 can usually be accommodated, with some patience on your part and not being too demanding about your table location. That's living "Coronado Dangerous". ;-) Food and specialty drinks are amazing. The service is pretty good. Your bill for two will start at about $100 and go up from there. If you really like wine go to S & F and pound a $30 bottle of Pinot Noir or Cab in the parking lot beforehand, and then just order a glass of something decent inside. You can thank me later. If you want lighter fare, then just stick to the appetizers and you will be good.

Yelp
An upscale Italian restaurant. We went to celebrate a coworkers departing and the ambiance was perfect- dressy but casual. Beautiful view of downtown San Diego. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We even got a complimentary pizza and dessert for a small mixup on our order. They went above and beyond for this small mistake. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
A pretty disappointing take out experience. Waited 14 minutes after estimated time for pick up. I only point this out because while most of the food was warm, the pizza was lukewarm at best when received and seemingly room temp when back home. Specifically asks if you need utensils on a take out order, selected yes and needed to scramble when getting back to hotel room. Overpriced for what we got, especially the fried zucchini blossoms and fried Mac. Got two salads that were fine. Vodka pasta, which seemed to be raved about in other reviews, was only ok. Bolognese was only ok. Both pastas were at least warm. If this were half the price it would be fine. Overpriced for both quality and quantity.
