My wife and I were thrilled to visit II Marchese in Milano, as we had a wonderful experience at their Rome location.
However, our excitement quickly faded upon arrival. While the ambiance was stunning and immaculate, and the carbonara was delicious, the arugula salad we ordered was a letdown. The arugula was excessively bitter, the peaches were unripe, and the dressing was completely absent. Perhaps if the peaches had been ripe and the dressing had been properly prepared, it could have been tolerable, but that wasn’t the case.
The service was also disappointing. After they brought the bread and plate for the olive oil, one of the two servers approached our table without asking if we needed it, which we did.
In Rome, reservations are typically made weeks in advance, but here, they can be made an hour in advance. Based on our experience, I can understand why.
