Il Marchese - Osteria Mercato Liquori

"Boasting a sumptuous Art Deco setting that contrasts pleasingly with the traditional cuisine served here, this restaurant is the Milanese sibling of Il Marchese in Rome which pays tribute to the famous Italian film “Il Marchese del Grillo” starring Alberto Sordi (it is also the first bar in Europe to offer more than 600 “amaro” liqueurs). The culinary philosophy here is based on traditional Roman cuisine with a contemporary flavour, including delicious specialities such as pasta with carbonara, matriciana and gricia sauces, veal saltimbocca, pork belly and much more besides!" - Michelin Inspector

My favorite food during a week stay in Milan. I thought every dish was excellent. Nothing special or creative - just really well executed classics. I had the Gricia pasta and my son the carbonara. They were served in the pan at the table - nice touch. We shared the peach and goat cheese salad which was really nice. Both dishes were excellent. But the highlight was the steak tartare appetizer - one of the best I’ve ever had. Delicious. Decor and vibe are nice - although it was a bit quiet during a midweek evening. Would highly recommend for classic Italian dishes. Try the steak tartare.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant. We enjoyed our evening very much. We had the cod croquettes which were absolutely delicious. We had Cacho e Pepe which was cooked very well but a little bit too much cheese sauce for me. They didn’t have too many wines by the glass so we got a bottle of burgundy which was very good. Our service was good. It took a few minutes to get our menus, but we had a very nice waiter. At the end of the meal, a waiter brought us a cute little box. We thought maybe it had chocolate in it, but no, it just had the check in it. We thought that was funny.

My wife and I were thrilled to visit II Marchese in Milano, as we had a wonderful experience at their Rome location. However, our excitement quickly faded upon arrival. While the ambiance was stunning and immaculate, and the carbonara was delicious, the arugula salad we ordered was a letdown. The arugula was excessively bitter, the peaches were unripe, and the dressing was completely absent. Perhaps if the peaches had been ripe and the dressing had been properly prepared, it could have been tolerable, but that wasn’t the case. The service was also disappointing. After they brought the bread and plate for the olive oil, one of the two servers approached our table without asking if we needed it, which we did. In Rome, reservations are typically made weeks in advance, but here, they can be made an hour in advance. Based on our experience, I can understand why.

Great place to visit on the Milan trip. Location is close to the centre but still very much intimate. Restaurant has great atmosphere and service is top tier. We really loved our drinks that were not on the menu, but bartenders did manage to recommend something that was 100% our taste. The food was great and side dishes of bread, olives and nuts were nice addition and made our stay very pleasant.

Great tasting food, had beef tartare and a pasta. One of the better pasta’s I’ve had, thick sauce and al dente pasta. Has a fancy atmosphere. Service was decent, but not good for such a fancy restaurant. Ordered bottle of wine which was just put on the table instead of a bucket after pouring and tasting. They also cleared my pasta meal without me having finished it and they didn’t ask if I was finished. We spend around €450. Came late around 22.00, but they accepted it.

A high-class restaurant in the heart of the city, set in a space that recalls the elegance of a post-war noble palace. The ambiance strikes a unique balance between lively energy and aristocratic charm, reflected in both the attentive service and the thoughtfully crafted dishes. The quality of the cooking is high, and the service is warm, though the city-center prices do feel a bit steep for the overall experience. For international visitors, this is a memorable spot to enjoy authentic Roman cuisine in an unforgettable setting. And for locals, it’s an ideal place to impress a guest during a night out. I’d rate it a 4.3 out of 5 for upscale regional Italian dining!

Most memorable gricia pasta yet ✨ Ambience was also impeccable! The live music was all sorts of fun! Il Marchese interiors blends old-world Roman charm with modern Milanese sophistication. Think elegant arches, warm lighting, and a refined yet cozy feel. The space nods to classic Italy with details like rich woods, and vintage touches. Everything feels curated and current, not dated🤌🏼✨

A truly pleasant evening with attentive service and thoughtful accommodation of our dietary needs. The chef even prepared a special vegetarian noodle dish — not on the menu, just from kindness. Excellent food, warm atmosphere — highly recommended. The service alone makes the Michelin shine a little brighter.
