The meal I had here was very good, but the chaotic environment and high prices make this a restaurant I feel most can skip.
Eataly is a wonderful place, full of both hard to find and common items, many of exceptional quality. In a lot of ways it's a one stop shop even with the Italian focus (on certain days, for example, the bakery makes challah bread). But eating there was an experience that felt overwhelming. Even with the restaurants strategically placed away from much of the grocery crowds, it's a constantly moving, loud environment. I had a seat at the edge of the bar and felt the servers and patrons fast pace and energy at all times, and had to really try and focus on the food without allowing myself to adopt the same speed with my fork.
The oysters were fresh and delicious, but thought the mignonette was overpowered by vinegar. The buttery salmon tartar was dressed with amazing olive oil and a subtle sweetness from incorporated pieces of diced pears (they don't give you enough toast points though, and asking for more proved to be difficult). The vegetarian lasagna was interesting, in a good way. Richer than you would expect for being so green, and the haricot verts inside worked well- they were small, and tender but not mushy. Just don't let the vegetables fool you, this is still a heavy dish.
Unobtrusive generally upbeat music played at a reasonable volume, some pop rock was thrown in. If the restaurant was elsewhere, I would be back, but I think this will likely be my only visit.
