This is the most amazing, delicious, friendly restaurant in Philadelphia; maybe even in the world. I would recommend a reservation, but they try very hard to accommodate walk-ins.The staff is unpretentious (ask for Kevin when you make a reservation!), extremely knowledgeable (they've tried all the food!), and make the whole experience all-around enjoyable. Chef Painter comes up with incredible concoctions and reliable, yet never boring, classics are available. Beautifully decorated, and the music is at a low volume to encourage conversation. Frank (the sommelier) knows the best wine pairing to go with your meal, so make sure you let him know what you ordered (plus, he never pushes towards the expensive wines).
Head in for drinks and a few small plates, or stay for the full four-course meal; you will find yourself coming back again and again! I know I have!
