"This simple yet welcoming family-run restaurant is situated on the wine route that wends its way through the hills behind Sondrio, less than 5km away. The dining room boasts a cheerful open fireplace (also used as a grill), while an attractive outdoor terrace offers fine views of the valley. In the kitchen, the family’s second generation combine traditional recipes and ingredients with the occasional modern twist." - Michelin Inspector

The owners live on the property, and they are gracious, kind, and helpful.|The food here is very fresh and delicious, with almost all of it having been produced on the working farm that adjoins this property.|This Bed & Breakfast is located on top of a large hill. The 300-degree view from our balcony is incredibly beautiful! Valleys, mountain ranges, and greenery everywhere make this a peaceful and pastoral place.|Jacopo and his assistant make every meal pleasant and enjoyable. The dining area has a fantastic view of the valley and mountain range from every table.|The rooms are large and clean, and our bed is comfortable. There is a nice overhead shower, and a bathtub, too, in the large bathroom.|If you want peace and quiet, in a kind, gracious, and beautiful environment, this is the place for you!

Il Poggio offers a unique experience for travelers in Tuscany. Our room was wonderful, with daily cleaning service, and the view from our balcony was absolutely incredible. For us, that alone made the stay worthwhile. For RCI travelers, a few notes: the fees at check-in are quite high. Breakfast is the same every day, and for the price, you’ll want to decide if that feels worth it. We didn’t use the resort amenities, as we spent most of our time driving out to different Tuscan towns (each at least an hour away). A few suggestions to elevate the experience: offering laundry service for guests, adding variety to the breakfast menu, and including one lunch or dinner for overnight guests to make the stay feel more welcoming and comfortable.

Let me start by saying (especially for American travelers) you are in Tuscany. Immerse yourself in the experience and culture. |For those who think it needs updating...... Life without all of preconceived necessities is wonderful. I now know how to make amazing coffee with an extractor. Laugh at the little things that are different and go with the flow.|Yes, you will need a car but easy to rent from Chiusi and a very easy drive from there. Chiusi also has a regional train station which I used for Florence. Otherwise driving is pretty easy. Drove to Siena which was my favorite, Assisi and many small towns in the area. Best kept secret is the Labyrinth of Porsenna in Chiusi. And check out the Etruscan museum and dig site in San Casciano dei Bagni. Be sure to walk the about 5000 steps to the bell tower in Celle Sul Rigo. Experience the original part of the town. |Enjoyed several meals at the agriturismo restaurant and they were wonderful. The best part is that it is so relaxed you make friends with other vacationers. Reach out, enjoy the moments. Also visited the little store at the bottom of the hill and the agriturismo shop on site and did some cooking in our unit. |The cooking class on site was so much fun. Lots of laughter and delicious food. |And the view is priceless. |Now remember you are in Tuscany. Except for tourist attractions everything closes down in the afternoon and around noon Saturday until Monday morning. But that is part of the charm. |Simone is a wealth of knowledge and always so willing to assist. And there is something to be said for seeing the staff in town and they say hi. |And yes I am checking out RCI availability for 2025. Ready to do this again.

First time in region loved the town and proximity of an hour drive to Siena and Assisi. The negatives included a bed being uncomfortable, and given the season not everything was open and lack of knowledge of this fact was significant, given that Easter Monday most things including dinner at the property was closed.

Writing this as a warning to fellow travelers. DO NOT book here. The ‘suite’ that we booked is supposed to be the best room they have to offer. It’s filled with outdated equipment, a bug infestation, and broken interior. We were met with almost a 600 fee just for cleaning and breakfast? No thank you. The staff is very unhelpful and pushy. They certainly take advantage of people. It’s quite possible they need the money desperately considering the state of the building. And the fact that they can’t afford to keep anything plugged in to conserve money on their bill. The location is beautiful but that’s just Italy and they don’t get credit for that. We can’t be helped at this point but please for the sake of your wallet and health, DO NOT stay here.

We loved this place so much. The huge room to the balcony with the fantastic view. Everyone so friendly and kind. The restaurant was only open 3 times but if you want anything they run and make it for you!! I can’t say enough how awesome this place is!! We will be back.

I have to be candid in my review. Not worth the hassle of going all the way. The bedding was terrible. Was just the size of double bed and very low quality. My wife and I could barely fit. Torn and dirty comforter. Sofa was stained all over and dirty. The wool covers were dusty. Seemed as if they were never cleaned. We certainly appreciate the rustic villages and setting, but there are definitely better places.

Search a wonderful Tuscany experience! Located on top of the hill as the name implies. The espresso is great and the wine is fantastic. Be sure to explore nearby walled castle towns of San Casciano Bagni, Centona and Radicofani. Taste everything and make new friends!!
