On the Grid : Il Porto

"Il Porto is a neighborhood landmark. Friends of ours in Dumbo have ordered special deliveries to get these pizzas brought over. Il Porto creates amazing wood oven flat bread pizzas. We’ve never had a bad pizza from this place. Personal favorites are the Bianca, Quattro Formaggi, and Al Diavolo." - Adam Brodowski & Clara Bunker

We went to Saturday jazz night and it was so pleasant. The calamari portion was huge and pizzas were delicious. Can’t wait to come back to try the pastas and salads. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great value for the quality. We made a reservation but saw people walking in and getting seated.

I've had the pleasure of eating here multiple times, and each experience has been fantastic. The pizza at my Il Porto is simply outstanding. Each slice is bursting with flavor, and the crust is perfectly baked—crispy on the outside while remaining fluffy on the inside. Whether you're a fan of classic pepperoni or adventurous gourmet toppings, there's something for everyone. What truly sets Il Porto apart is their commitment to customer satisfaction. There have been times when I needed last-minute orders for launch parties or gatherings, and they always came through for me without a hitch. Their staff is incredibly accommodating, always ready to help with a smile. It's refreshing to find a place that genuinely cares about its customers and goes the extra mile to ensure everything is perfect. Overall, Il Porto is my go-to pizza restaurant. With their delicious offerings, fast service, and helpful team, I can't recommend them enough! If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing out!

My friend and I are visiting Brooklyn and wanted to have amazing Italian. This did not disappoint. We both got the special of the day. The seafood sampler as app and the lamb shank pasta. 10/10 if I could give 1,000 stars I would! Cannot wait to come back. DELICIOUS

Google
Best grandma pie in the city! Other pizzas are awesome too! Their fresh tomato sauce is the key. Love it

Google
Top notch pizza restaurant and shop. Whether you want a quick sluce or eat in this is the place. Seafood pizza was just incredible.

Great setting. Very lively atmosphere. Had a quick chicken and sausage pizza roll. It was prepared just right and filling. The feel of fresh crust is still lingering. Pictures in the wall and the general ambience took me back to Godfather movie setting of old New York.would like to visit again.

Google
They completely overbooked the place on Valentine’s Day and pushed our reservation an hour later than we booked. Then when we showed up for our new reserved time, there was a line out the door where the people up front had already been waiting an hour. When I tried to ask someone about an update the staff was rude and wouldn’t even make eye contact with me and wouldn’t answer anyone’s questions. We ended up leaving. Thanks for ruining many people’s nights! Learn to time box better.

Google
Hidden gem located in Clinton hill, right across from Steiner studios! Amazing atmosphere for Intimate dinners and groups w live jazz on the weekends. Their pizza is fantastic and cocktails are bussin. We had their Lamb chops entree and Veal O’so bucco,Unreal. Finished w their homemade terry (tiramisu) and an espresso martini. Will make this our go to for sure Bebe.

Yelp
Il Porto is a great pick for Italian food. I have had a few items from their menu throughout the years and they have not disappointed. Their pizza is delicious. Beautiful presentation. Their calamari is nicely fried. The mussels are fresh and tasty. I recommend the lemon and garlic sauce...wow..so delicious, and enough for 2 to share. Also nice to dip the bread in (I love restaurants that start you off with a little bread..lol). And their tiramisu with a scoop of gelato was good. I wish the Sauvignon Blanc was a little colder/ more chilled, but that's just a preference so it doesn't really affect my rating for them. The service was good. Our waitress was super nice, friendly and accommodating. They weren't pushy, they came and checked on our table periodically. The service made the experience even better. The ambiance is nice, quiet with beautiful music in the background. A nice Brooklyn Brunch type of vibe...super enjoyable and nice setting. I recommend this to groups, date nights and it looks like they have a happy hour Mon-Fri...sooo you know what that means....just put ice cubes in your wine...lol jk. Totally recommend.

Yelp
Popped by on the way home spontaneously without looking at reviews- why not? Slightly busy around 6pm on a Tuesday, but was served promptly. Got three slices: sausage, cheese, and Margherita. Loved how every inch of the sausage slice was covered in meat. They were all pretty good but not mind-blowing. Definitely hit them with salt/garlic/cheese/pepper at the counter. Three slices and two medium seltzer bottles was $20, so well priced.

Yelp
Great tricolor pizza and garlic knots!! The cocktails were just okay, strong but not great. Great place for a bite before a show at Brooklyn Storehouse.

Yelp
What an excellent restaurant! We were in town for the weekend for the Brooklyn Half and we were in need of some pre race carbs. We had 6 people and we wait about 30 minutes for a table on a busy Friday but luckily we were able to wait at the bar. The servers were great and the menu was quite big I ended up going with the margherita pizza (small) and it was delicious! I had some leftovers to take home which was even better. A classic that they did great. We all enjoyed our food and would recommend

Yelp
Solid slice. The staff & owner(s) are friendly & sure know how to make a mean grandma pie! Love this place!

Yelp
Stumbled into this gem. They had live music going and great spirits among the staff. We sat down at the bar hungry for food and drinks hahaha Pizza was top tier and also (not featured) the Caesar salad was very very tasty. The bartender also made us the strongest margarita ever and I was not mad about it. Although I feel like my time here was short I look forward to tying out more of their menu options.

Yelp
I was craving pizza on a rainy day and decided to order from il Porto. I opted for the Brooklyn style pie (basically chicken parm in pizza form) which was really yummy - I love how thin but crispy the crust was. The ingredients all seemed really fresh too. In my opinion, they're one of the best spots to grab pizza in the area. Their pastas are also great. My personal fave is their spaghetti bella donna - which is a light mix of tomatoes, olives, garlic, & olive oil tossed with fresh pasta. They definitely have lots of options on the menu & the portions are generous too. Cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
This pizza hit the spot! My friends and I visited Rooftop Reds for my gf's bachelorette night out. We were famished after visiting a massage spa and the vineyard was our next stop. Our pizza arrived fairly quickly and was warm and packaged well. They brought our food right to our table which was great. It was a limited menu but the food was great and kept us satisfied until later that night when we went to dinner in the city. I'm very happy they collab with surrounding businesses that may not offer food. The pizza makes me want to try them out and see what other items are on the menu.

Yelp
The food here is excellent . they have there own personal touch to a variety of Italian delicacies. making these dishes tastier and different then other Italian restaurant. variety of foods to make everyone happy. from lite bites to full corse elegant cuisine. The service was professional, friendly and made you feel like they know you forever or on a personal basis. elegantly designed and a smooth atmosphere making you feel like your on a nice vacation in a homely place. I recommended this place to family and friends , and have had a couple of parties and catering done from the location always with positive results .

Yelp
While looking for a place open late for dinner near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, took a chance on here based on menu and reviews. Wood fired pizza and great Italian menu was good for our party of 5. We dined in the restaurant area with the bar. Nice cozy rustic wood feel with white lights. Great casual ambience. They have an amazing jazz trio on Fridays & Saturday nights until 10, we learned upon asking after enjoying their amazing music while waiting to have our order taken. Waitress was amazing. Wrote nothing down and got it all right. 5 people drink orders, apps and meals. Food came quickly. Portions were very generous for the calamari app and my spinach salad is so huge it will be a second meal. As for the individual 12 inch pizzas? They're enough for 2 people. Each person ordered their own pie..we came home with a ton of leftover pizza. Everyone loved it.we had Margarita & naval yard pies. Delicious! The jazz band added such a nice vibe. They were really very talented trio. I don't know if I will ever be back to this area of Brooklyn, and if I am I'm coming back. And definitely telling friends who are going to Stranger Things Experience to take the short ride here for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's Day. Wanted to choose a place that did not offer prix fixe menu because my date is picky and only wanted a specific pasta. I didn't see anything on their website that they did but I guess they changed it right after. The dining room was cramped with tables with tables in rolls like a dining hall or a lunch room cafeteria expect with almost no space to walk around. Like you had to squeeze to pass through. We were basically sharing tables with other parties at that point and can hear everyone's conversations, so much for privacy and intimacy on Valentine's Day. We got sat but it took forever for wait staff to acknowledge us. My date was not given a champagne or rose toast which was included in the prix fixe menu. We were not allowed to order food from the al a carte menu but I see other people with pizzas at their table so maybe we can be offered that? No drink menu to order from also. It took forever to get the food. I kept complaining to the waitress but her excuse was, "look around, we are very busy." So maybe don't pack this place up like sardine cans if your kitchen can't handle the volume? My app came 1 hour after we sat down. After I was done, the waitress asked if we were ready for dessert. I complained we did not even receive our mains yet. My date was starving so badly at this point because being the picky eater she was, she did not want the apps that was listed. Our mains came 2 hours after we sat. Other tables that sat after received their food before us and all we ordered was the carbonara. When it finally came, I asked for dessert and the check to be brought out too but nope. We finished and again it took forever for dessert to come out... Like its premade, you just had to plate it. We ended up asking for it to go instead. Unlimited drinks was part of the menu but I only had 2 glasses of wine because it took forever to flag someone for a refill. Complete shit show.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! I had a sausage and pepper roll, and it was INCREDIBLE! I was lucky the pizza section was open at about 10 am already. The rolls were fresh out of the oven- chicken parm or sausage and peppers. I chose the sausage after the man described the ingredients and that it was better than any festival. As soon as I dived in , heaven! The restaurant section next door opens at 11 am I think. They told me to take a look in after eating. Beautiful ! He showed the mural that was done by a man from Italy, the handmade tables from 100 year old wood. The pride in every detail- the food, service and feeling you will get- like walking into a friend's house and enjoying Grandma's home cooking! The owner told me about the jazz music they have, and I saw a large bar too. I can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
We stopped in for "liner" (between lunch and dinner) and left crying it was so good. Our server, Leila, was fantastic--very attentive but never pushy. The food was fantastic: fresh, tasty, and prepared to the perfect temperature. The restaurant is a cute, quaint little place in Williamsburg. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Yelp
Il Porto is a take-out + family style Italian restaurant in the Navy Yards. There were some major winners, and some not-so-winning elements in each of the dishes we tried. Portion was generous. Although the pasta didn't taste like they were home made, the pasta was cooked al dante and the sauces flavorful and balanced. The appetizers were mostly delicious, especially their Burrata salad, but the toasts that came with were more 'manufactured' than the complimentary bread from the restaurant. Why didn't they serve the same kind of bread in both occasions? Kind of puzzling, but it was the good kind of puzzling-- it adds another conversation topic to the table had you run out of things to say with your dining partners.

Antoinette S.

Yelp
I went to IL Porto with a group of friends for a pre-holiday get-together. Enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and the very friendly staff; and, the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely my restaurant of choice in Williamsburg for future get-togethers.

Yelp
I've had almost every dish they serve except for shellfish because I'm allergic. The food is absolutely amazing. This is what you call authentic Italian food. What I love is the cozy ambiance and the service . There is always one of the owners present who will make sure that everything is perfect . They have a fully stocked bar and live music on the weekends. I'm not sure if the live music is on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday . In addition to the restaurant, they have a separate pizzeria next door. The brick oven pizza is top-notch. Street parking is readily available. This is probably my favorite Italian restaurant.

Yelp
This is a solid local Italian joint. The food is still good and the delivery has improved 100%, hence the updated review.
google avatar

Yelp
This is Frozen Italian food. It's very mediocre. I wouldn't recommend to place to anyone to be honest. The crab cakes were frozen and made with fake crab meat. The pasta was blah with frozen shrimp in it. I'll honestly never come back here. My glass of wine was nasty as well. It tasted as if the bottle has been open and sitting for weeks!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant! Great vibe. My guests and I had a wonderful time there. The drinks were very good. The bartender is a definite mixologist. The bread was authentic and delicious. For apps, we had the crab croquettes, which were probably the best I have ever had, the eggplant rollatini and the fried calamari. All of the apps were good. Then we had the Sicilian pizza. All I can say is it was so amazing. Definitely will be back here again for the live jazz on the weekend. The owner was very nice. Made sure we were happy! Good service.

Henry A.

Yelp
Il Porto never disappoint, the quality of food and pizza are of high quality. Table service is focus on delivering the high quality of customer service.

Leila L.

Yelp
A+ Italian. So lovely for dates night. Intimate and cozy. Love the whole set up here. Their food is excellent. Service is attentive. Their wood burning pizzas are crispy and thin and the grandma pie is apparently famous but their entrees are serious. Cocktails are tasty. Definitely try this place.

Henry P.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and get a grandma pie. This review needs 85 characters so I'll add that everything here is good. Get anything and it will be good.

Elaine A.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service and pleasant atmosphere. Great find while visiting Brooklyn. Had buratta, veal parm, Cesare salad and taramisu. I'm very happy
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
Tried the Margherita Pizza for 22$ plus tax & tip. The total is close to 30$ - that's a lot of money for a pizza pie but at least it was delicious. Definitely one of the better places for wood burning brick oven pizza. Fresh ingredients & delicious tomato sauce. Great pizza.

Yelp
I came here to look at the restaurant before booking a private event, management was friendly and professional. Their grandma slice and Penne Porto was delicious! Fresh mozzarella and basil with flavorful crushed tomato, what's not to like from Grandma! The ambiance was comfortable and the lighting good. They have nice outdoor seating as well. Service was great. Can't wait for my event!

Yelp
Loved it. Best pizza in NY. Too bad I live upstate and they don't have a branch. Taste was delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Love it here! I've been a few times now and every time it has been great! The servers are all very friendly and knowledgeable and the food is great! I've had 3 different pizzas and 4 different pastas and loved each and every one! There are no misses here! I also love their cocktails they might have the best espresso martini I've ever had, their aperol spritz are also great. They are also great portions for the price, have lovely indoor and outdoor seating and on Friday and Saturday night they have jazz music. Definitely give this place a try!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't do Italian much. But when I do, Il Porto odd where I must go. Many moons ago my sister lives right across the street from the spot! She told me this was the best. I ignored her until one day on my way home from work, I had a hankering for lasagna! I gave them a try, i never looked back. The pizza and the other pasta dishes are amazing! The garlic knots perfection. Until i decide to leave brooklyn, I will always return here when i have my cravings!
google avatar

Howard C.

Yelp
Best pizzeria in NY. Their new outdoor dining area is the most baller, nicest setup I've seen in my life. Its got windows, they engineered a built-in rainwater drainage system, and the lighting makes you feel like your dinner is taking place on the set of a food&wine covershoot. I call-in for delivery all the time, and their drivers get it to my apartment fast and fresh. il Porto has never made a single order mistake out of our 50+ orders, not sure how they manage that, but they do. Its a family-run place and the food tastes like its made by people who care no matter how busy they are, always served up w an extra dash of love. Home of the grandma slice, calamari is a must, chef mario's pastas are delicious.

Chris B.

Yelp
The food is FANTASTIC here. Over the years we've tried everything and everything is vvv tasty. They definitely take pride in their food. The atmosphere is very nice. Trendy. Cozy. Service is on point and very attentive. You will love this place, give them a try

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious and fresh! I ordered to go and while I was waiting, the owner happened to be eating lunch and offered me a complimentary slice of their best seller (pictured below). So gooooood. Highly recommend this restaurant, you will not regret it!

Yelp
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Brooklyn (and probably the world). The food here is INSANELY DELICIOUS. Everything I've ever had is perfection. The pasta, the pizza, the atmosphere, the service - I love it all! Pro tip: they have great take out and the portions are generous. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Authentic Italian food, the best I've had in Brooklyn. Owners treat you like family on relaxing Italian atmosphere. When we come to NYC, Il Porto is a must visit. Their pizza is the best in town! Fantastic meal in italian atmosphere.

Yelp
We ordered the grandma pie and the pesto pizza from here while at rooftop reds. The pies are delicious! The grandma pie is made with a thin crust and absolutely amazing! The pesto pizza was really good too but I wish it had a little more pesto and a little more salt. Regardless, great pizza and the delivery was pretty quick. Will definitely try other dishes from their menu in the next few weeks.

Yelp
- I loved the grandma pizza - Delivery was very fast - It was the perfect meal for our Rooftop Reds sunset

Yelp
definitely get their pizza. crunchy bottom and softer above the crunch. tomato sauce packs a punch and is very fresh. wish they added more basil but that's just personal preference. i rlly liked the chopped fineness of the salad although my complaints are not enough of the crab/shrimp. same goes for the farafelle, there was barely any of the vodka marinated salmon and mostly just noodles and it is kind of ridiculous the price they charged for that one since it was just noodles essentially. the papradelle was garlicky and it was ok. not bad but i think it's just more worth it to get some starters and pizza! portion sizes are very generous. they have live music but imo it's too loud, we couldn't really hear each other at times. if it was slightly softer it would have been perfect. overall y would come back for the pizza. tiramisu was pretty good. nothing too special but i like that they added vanilla ice cream to the side. helps balance the strong coffee taste.
google avatar

Mollie S.

Yelp
I firmly believe that all pizza is good pizza!! I often go here because it is super close to work. If you are a regular, they will absolutely remember you. This is usually the place I bring my clients and they definitely love more than just the pizza! Always quick with deliveries.
google avatar

Ellyor A.

Yelp
One of my favourite Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. Family owned all foods homemade traditionally, they even making mozzarella cheese in the house. I try lot of places can not compare it with il Porto Try their steak panini and lamb rack.
google avatar

Romy G.

Yelp
First of all, Eric who was working is like the nicest man in the world. I had to force him to take my tip lol. They had my pick up order ready in less than 10 minutes. My aunt who eats here regularly suggested we go and I'm glad she did. We ordered the Margherita Pizza And the Ortolana Pizza which came with mushrooms (shiitake, cremini and portobello), cherry tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese and artichokes. Both were thin crust and excellent. I liked that the Ortolana came loaded with veggies. I would like to try some of their other pizzas on the menu too. But, my favorite thing on the menu was the pasta with clams. They are very generous with the clam portion and the sauce was divine.

Yelp
Ugh. So good we came two lunches in a row. The first time it was just out of convenience - doing some work by the film studio next door and happened upon this stop after a long trip from Boston. We were hungry, sweaty, and lugging luggage. We got seated right away at a large table so we had space to stow all of our crap. The menu for lunch isn't huge but just enough due to their flexibility in customizing their items. Day 1- We (two of us) got a large 16" pizza (Ortolana, with large amounts of cremini and portobello mushrooms, stretchy mozzarella, and perfectly roasted cherry tomatoes) - we added arugula and chicken to it and it was absolutely perfection. Crust was nice and chewy with the right amount of crisp. It was absolutely loaded and the toppings that fell off just made a delicious salad on my plate :) Pizza is served with parmesan, chili flakes, and oregano on the side. We also shared a bruschetta (traditional), bread was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, so you aren't scraping the roof of your mouth trying to get a bite. Super yummy with a healthy dose of their olive oil at the table. For dessert, had tiramisu (large portion with a rich scoop of vanilla ice cream), and espressos (they didn't get their milk yet for cappuccinos). The tiramisu was light and the perfect consistency. Really great job with that. Day 2 - This was on the day of the Eurocup finals (Italy vs. England) so we started off with some $4 Peronis to kick us off. They have $4 beer special every day 11AM-5PM so definitely take advantage of that! Food: We had the same pizza but 12" instead. We shared the calamari which was real light and flaky, with warm marina sauce and some juicy lemons. There was also a unique addition of fried basil leaves that added lots of flavor and texture. Really recommend this! Huge portion. Also had the Linguine del Mare. Really rich seafood flavors and strong tomato, smoky sauce. I believe there was also some basil in there. Loads and loads of seafood (including a half lobster tail!) that all tasted very fresh and soaked up the sauce very well. We again had tiramisu but this time with cappuccinos. The service for this last bit was a little odd because the cappuccinos came out a good 10 minutes before the tiramisu (unsure why it took forever for tiramisu to come out) and so by the time we had our tiramisu the cappuccinos were cold :( But otherwise tasted good! Small mishap for 2 perfect meals. Thanks Il Porto!

Yelp
Nice band on weekend and staff are friendly! Food is amazing and we recommend the Il Porto pizza!

Yelp
We love this place! tucked away in Clinton Hill Brooklyn, right across the street from Steiner studios this place is beautiful. The food is a mirror of Italy w flavor and simplicity. The chef explains this menu is a part of the families tradition from Italy. Staff is lovey and attentive. Love the candlelight for intimate dinners and decore. Bar is vvv nice for eating and outdoor seating is nice. We will be back!

Yelp
I have nothing but positive things to say about this restaurant. I came here in search of high quality pizza and a nice atmosphere to sit for a couple of hours, and Il Porto certainly delivered. The pizza menu is separate from the expansive entire menu, leaving you with many options. We ordered the calamari, which was delicious and a bigger portion than expected (we had leftovers between 3 of us). My sisters got the mushroom and goat cheese bruschetta which they said was very tasty as well. They also bring some BOMB saucy bread so you could go easy on the apps :) For the pizza, we ordered the bianca + mushrooms and the breakfast pizza (La Fiorentina). Both were huge and amazing, though I wouldn't get the bianca again as I personally didn't love the sauce, which I felt lacked a ton of flavor. The La Fiorentina, however, was SO GOOD! Just a side note, you get a free mimosa if you order from the brunch menu! I felt the prices were a little high, but the quantity and quality of the food made up for the price, and seem to match other local pizza prices. Service and ambiance were both great. I would certainly come back here to try a different pizza and snag some calamari next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Stopped by this quaint Italian spot for a special dinner with my daughter. Our waiter was super attentive and provided excellent service. The brick oven pizza is some of the best I've had in a long time! Highly recommend

Yelp
My friend told me about this place before I had a slice . But this time we had dinner INSIDE the place. We got here around 7:30 and we're seated very fast To our table . Our waitress Anna was our server and she was on point . We each order a glass a Cabernet and started with an Fried Calamari appetizer. My god it was a huge portion I really that it would be a small plate but it was enough for 3-4 people but it was her and I. I took home the other half of the order. We preceded to order the Eggplant parmigiana over Linguine. We thought we would just eat half of this order but we finished it in style seating down. We sat in the back by the Bar and this place was busy on a Friday night by 8pm , there was live music inside by a guitars Charlie was performing. . The restaurant is connected to there pizzeria which is through the back next door. We then stayed and ordered dessert which I rarely do, we split and order of Tiramisu . I forget to post the after picture but it was pretty good too . We were in no rush to eat here and we're able to get our bill and check out in reasonable time. They have a coal fire oven for pizza . It's located near the Bklyn navy yards. I would say it's over a 20 minute walk from the subway...but your get hungry once you settled down to eat. Definitely a place to bring a date w/ the service we were provided here . I'm sure I be back again.
