Il Ristorante Il Pievano

We stayed in the hotel as we wanted to enjoy the place and the restaurant. The restaurant it is located in some nice rooms at the hotel, with a very classy atmosphere. The staff is as friendly as the hotel staff is. The food just great. We chose not to order the tasting menu, but instead go for many main dishes. The pork sublime. The fish was beautiful served. I might say their bread selection was great for the meal. The price it is very competitive for the king of meal and place you are. Definitely worthy to visit

Beautiful setting in an old castle convent. The plates were all excellent and creative especially the deserts. The environment was a bit too formal / tense / not relaxing for me though. Maybe language barrier. Great food but would not go back.

As this was the only one star Michelin rated restaurant in the area we had high expectations. The restaurant is set in an old convent, turned into a luxury hotel. As expected the service and advise from the staff and sommelière are excellent, if a bit stiff. They have two different menus plus a blind menu with 10 surprise dishes at 160€. The wine accompaniment is 130€ per person. There is a lot of creativity in how the Chef creates his dishes. However, none of the various dishes were in the category of amazing, wow or excellent. The dishes look nice and tasted OK. But that’s about it. They also hurry you along a bit. You are still with one wine and they already pour the wine for the next dish that arrives within a minute. Wine accompaniment was a bad choice considering you pay so much money for just five small glasses of wine, plus a grappa. That comes out at 20+ € per glass. The wines served should be super Tuscan category, but the wines were way below that. I had checked one wine, the Sauvignon Blanc from Graf in Meran. Retail price is just 16€ per bottle. Just imagine what kind of wine you can buy today for €260 (wine accompaniment per person is 130) in a restaurant.

We wanted to enjoy our experience at this restaurant. The day before we had an amazing lunch at a Michelin star restaurant in Montalcino. However, the culinary experience at this restaurant had us wondering how on earth anyone rated this place more than 3 stars, let alone assigned it a Michelin star. For those looking for an authentic, delicious Tuscan dinner, do not come here. The food was not good. The bread provided with the meal was amazing. Marco, our waiter, was out of this world. The whole experience was good because of him. The rest? Unfortunately, if you value your money and tastebuds, avoid this restaurant.

During a road trip in beautiful Tuscany we had the chance and pleasure at the same time to visit Il Pievano, a restaurant that created a great memorable experience for us, where the chef has prepared a menu that combines taste excellency with a playful visual result. All dishes were unique and left us more than satisfied. Quality of the food, together with beautiful surroundings and amazing service made Il Pievano a restaurant that I would totally recommend and definitely a place that I will revisit!

Incredible fine dining experience. Impeccable attention to detail with the food and service. I wish I could have had 4x the fagiolini spaghetti with rosemary and bay leaf “fairy” dust. Ambiance dining amongst the 4 walls of a castle is unparalleled. Service ten stars. Wonderful final dinner to finish our time in Tuscany. Enjoy every moment created amongst the Tuscan stars.

My wife and I were shocked to stumble upon this place, a Michelin restaurant in the middle of the Tuscan Hills. When we went, there were two tasting options available; we each had one with the wine pairing. There was also a full menu but it’s hard to pass a tasting.

First, a qualification. I am not a "foodie" so I really dont know what a Michelin star is supposed to represent. Having said that, I have been blessed with the opportunity to eat at some pretty phenomenal places around the globe over the years, so I can appreciate good food and a good experience. We booked this with a group of friends since my wife and I were staying at the hotel (which is fantastic). Overall, I had a great time with this meal and we were all very glad that we were able to make it happen. We did the "blind menu" and it was an amazing adventure of 10+ courses. I won't give away any trade secrets, just to say that most of the courses were absolutely amazing, others a little bit less....all incredibly imaginitive and full of courage and flair. The service was impeccable. The setting is a dream. Well done to al involved.
