Il Simposio

We stopped for a quick lunch and were so impressed with the atmosphere, service and food. The place feels like a chic wine cellar with an amazing wine selection by the glass and bottle. The food was really delicious. We had the langoustine risotto and Roman pasta and the portions were well presented, a good size and absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and could accommodate gluten free needs for bread and pasta. I would highly recommend this place and come back for sure!

Second experience was wonderful. Great food, great wine, and Federica, our server, was great. She recommended an excellent wine from Lazio, she had the kitchen make pasta with ‘nduja, my favorite sausage, and then she brought me some more in a plate with bread so I could enjoy their house made ‘nduja. The desserts were marvelous too. I’ll be back!!!!

I went again to dine at Il Simposio. The food was sensational as was the amazing wine (Luce from Frescobaldi). I was looked after by the charming Katerina.

Nice location and impressive internal design. Simposio is both restaurant and wine bar, which coexist in the same location. I'm afraid that the wine bar service is not at the same level of the restaurant. It's awkward the wine list is really long and the short list is quite comprehensive as well, but many of the labels were out of stock and at the end we ended up choosing the bottle suggested by the waiter. But if your focus is not the wine, that's a nice winery.

Excellent fish and superb service! A bit on the pricey side, but the experience and freshness of the ingredients was well worth it. The staff was very attentive.

Decent place to stop in for a drink. They provide a little appetizer with the wine/drinks ordered. We noticed the care taken to prepare food and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Excellent cuisine with innovative dishes and well cooked meats. However the service was extremely lacking in comparison to the rest of the places we dined at in Rome. The staff seemed not to place much care into our table, and seemed as though they were glazed over the entire time so that we were being served. Hopefully this was just a one time occurrence as the food was excellent.

Italy rarely disappoints and the wine bar and restaurant Il Simpisio is not only gorgeous but the service was fabulous also. Amazing wines which are also sound at the sister wins store downstairs. A big Grazie mile to the staff who took the time to give me a red wine tour of Italy, I wish I could join you tomorrow for a real Thanksgiving dinner including turkey and pumpkin pie! This is an amazing wineshop... and a good restaurant. The wine list is one of the most impressive I had seen in a long time. I would have written a nice review here (venue, food) if I didn't have the feeling of having been robbed. The owner/manager came kindly to our table proposing several fish options which were not in the menu. We accepted, we enjoyed the meal... only to discover an amazing and shameful bill, several times more expensive that anything we could have had from the menu list. 120 € for fish for two. Yes, that was the figure, just for the fish. Sure, you can say I was an idiot, or I could have called the police, or many other options. And you may be right. The nice man, in coward attitude, was nowhere to be seen, leaving a young girl to deal with the bill. I could not allow them to ruin my day. But this is the place to write it: that man acted miserably, and I do hope you don't fall into a similar trap.
