Solid 3.5 all around.
We're new to this area in West Pembroke Pines and we were in the mood for some Italian food. I turned to my trusted yelp app and noticed this restaurant right around the corner. The reviews look favorable so we decided to give it a try. The service was above average, we had reservations and we're seated immediately. The hostess was very kind and courteous and a gentleman who appeared to be the manager was also very kind and offered to take our drink order right away.
We went with a bottle of Pinot Noir, Line39. Smooth not a bad option. We decided to go with the escargot as our appetizer and linguine dishes as her main course. My fiancé went with the seafood linguine in a red sauce and I went with a pesto linguine and shrimp. We topped it off with the tiramisu for dessert.
I took a bite from her pasta, it was quite delicious the red sauce had absorbed the seafood flavors. She also enjoyed the dish, her one drawback was that it needed a little bit of seasoning. She said the seafood was quite flavorful and seemed fresh.
I will say the escargot was quite delicious. Drenched in olive oil with a buttery flavor and cook very well. This is a hard dish to get right, we have all the checkmarks on this one.
My pesto linguine was on par with what I expected. I wasn't blown away, It tasted like something I can make it home. That's not a knock on the dish, and I'm not saying I wasn't impressed. The pesto had good flavor, the pasta had the right texture, I thought the shrimp was a little bland, But that is an anything that can't be fixed. But overall, like I said on par with a pesto pasta, I was thinking about trying the black pasta. But I was somewhat convinced I wanted to try something different, something I hadn't tried before in a while. Maybe next time I'll give the black pasta a try.
The tiramisu is average, I've had better in other locations. Again a little bland lacking in flavor but more like a packaged item and something that was made fresh.
The one thing that was above average was the service. The waiter and servers were always coming around checking on us to make sure that we were OK. Drink recommendations were always provided, and he did have a warm family feel style of ambience. The hospitality did not lack and it was the strong suit of the restaurant. If I were to have a do over I try something different maybe I just wasn't a fan of the pesto. The tiramisu, definitely was not what I expected but the other dishes were quite delicious especially the escargot.
What elevated the rating from a three star to the four-star was the service. We're nearby so I wouldn't mind coming back and giving it another shot.
