Ilaputi - Review - Cebu City - Cebu - The Infatuation

"Ilaputi began in 2002 as a small karinderya that served rice bowls to broke college students. 23 years later, this Asian soul food joint is all grown up (think warm wooden accents and plush seating), but those original protein-rice combinations remain: ultra-tender beef stroganoff with a side of garlic rice, pork chop with mango chutney and spiced buttered rice, and Peking chicken with fried rice. The drinks menu is fun and mocktails by default, but you can request the addition of rum or gin. This place is great for intimate dates—their two branches across the city are in pockets with lower foot traffic—but because the dishes are large enough to be shareable, we’ve seen many a family dinner, too." - Chandra Joshua

Ilaputi is a great spot for a chill and comfortable dining experience. The place itself is really cool, strong air conditioning, cozy ambiance, and very comfortable tables and chairs. When we came in around dinner time, it was fairly quiet, but by 7 PM, it started filling up fast with groups which is a good sign that this place is well-loved. The staff were all welcoming and friendly, which added a nice touch to the overall vibe. We got to try one of their new menu items, the SouthSide Rib, and it was absolutely amazing. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and literally melted in our mouths, definitely a standout dish! We originally wanted to try their Char Siu Belly, but it was unavailable at the time (they ran out of pork belly). No worries though. We went for their best seller, The Stroganov, instead, and we were not disappointed. Super creamy and flavorful! We also tried their Pasta Puti, Ilaputi’s own take on carbonara, and it was another hit. The creamy sauce, crispy bacon, and big chunks of mushrooms worked perfectly together. As for drinks, we had the lemonade and iced tea. They were refreshing but nothing particularly special. Prices here are definitely on the more expensive side, but for the quality of food and service, it feels justifiable. All in all, Ilaputi delivers great food, a relaxing space, and excellent service. Perfect for a laid-back dinner with solid flavor and comfort food done right. We'll definitely be back to try more!

From the moment I approached the door and was not greeted. I did not mind this. Once I ordered starters and meal together it went downhill fast. The starter showed up 2 minutes before main course. And it was only half the meals. It took me eating my main course until the other food showed up. They were not busy. However, they seem to pay more attention to the table of someone’s birthday. The taste and quality was subpar. Very salty. My glass of water sat empty for over 5 minutes. The wait staff were hardly present to ask something. I had to catch a cook returning from the back to check on the food. Then when the bill shows up, they added tax and service fee. This place has gotten terrible in the last 12 months. Adding service fee to subsidies their labor costs and bloat the bill. If there is a mandatory service fee %, this should be added into the price of food. Stay far away, this place is not a good spot to take a nice friend for a dinner. They are a half step above Mang Inasal. Oh and to make it worse the restroom not working. The waiter slipped up and informed us it has been this was for a while now. Terrible owners, cheap

Took a chance on eating here as we only had limited time in Cebu. We were immediately greeted by the very polite staff, food was served according to their recommended wait time. We ordered their best sellers and we couldn't get enough of them. I would recommend getting their cocktails. 670 for a tomahawk steak that is seasoned right is very worth it. We actually returned to try other menu items and they did not disappoint. I look forward to returning everytime I am in Cebu. Staff service is trully commendable. If I could give more stars I would.

I used to love their stroganoff, now it's nothing special.

the location is a one-minute walk from my review center, so I decided to grab lunch here after my class. Initially, I mistook it for a bar lounge due to its black and industrial interior, but upon discovering on Google Maps that it is a restaurant, I decided to give it a try today. a hidden gem that’s making waves with its bold, elegant, and industrial aesthetic. from the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a sleek, minimalist design, exposed steel beams, and blackened wood give the space a raw, urban vibe, while subtle lighting adds a touch of warmth that prevents it from feeling too stark. Service is attentive and not intrusive, with staff who are well-versed in the menu. while they offer a variety of dishes, some of them contain pork, which I avoid, so I missed out on trying their popular dish. I choose to order the shrimp gambas and the bibimbap from them. what made this shrimp gambas particularly memorable was the attention to texture—the shrimp were soft and juicy, with a slight crunch on the outer parts. At first, it was supposed to come with crusty bread, but they informed me it was unavailable, so I ended up having it with rice instead, which was perfectly fine with me. A delightful blend of bold tastes and comforting simplicity made it a great option for seafood lovers. the dish invited you to mop up every last drop of that glorious sauce, making it as much about the experience as it was about the flavors. It’s a dish that’s both satisfying and full of character, capturing the essence of classic spanish cuisine with a touch of modern flair. the beef bibimbap was a flavorful experience that left a lasting impression. Served in a bowl, the dish was a visual feast with its array of colorful ingredients artfully arranged on top of the rice. the star of the dish, the marinated beef, was tender and juicy. each bite of the beef was enhanced by the depth of its marinade. each vegetable added its unique texture and flavor to the dish, creating a delightful contrast with the rich beef. the dish was topped off with a perfectly fried egg, its runny yolk cascading down into the bowl when mixed, enriching the rice and bringing all the ingredients together. this bibimbap was a true comfort food experience, offering a satisfying blend of flavors. overall, spot is ideal for those who value both style and substance, meticulously designed to offer a memorable dining experience. Whether you are dining casually or celebrating a special event, this restaurant excels in all aspects. 😮‍💨

Food was great! Tried the Chicken; the rice compliments it very well. The portions were big and the staffs were very polite. Definitely a place worth going back to!

Nice ambience with unique food flavors. Dragon chops were yummy and humongous. With parking space at the back but no too big. Nice view of the garden.

First time eating at Ilaputi, the pasta puti was tasty and really good for me. Staff are polite, attentive and welcoming. The ambiance is very cool and not too crowded. We’ll be back for sure.
