Great cafe. The atmosphere was very airport like, because it is at the airport. DTW airport is very nice and new, so illy cafe European vibes are a great fit. I like illy coffee a lot better than Starbucks. Highly recommend .

Good coffee! Wish they had more locations. Great customer service. The iced latte was great. They have lots of muffins, cakes, and yogurts. Great to rest and relax before your takeoff. Will definitely be back, rather than just go to Starbucks.

A decent little cafe in the Macnemera terminal at DTW. I have had coffee or breakfast from here several times over the years while flying out, it's always a good choice. They are always less crowded than the other eateries in the area and of higher quality. The service is always fast and friendly enough. The sandwiches and baked goods are decent enough for airport food. It does take a bit to get fancy coffees made but it's worth it to not go to the other coffee places in the immediate area ( Starbucks and McDonalds). Illy' is more expensive than everything else in the area but it's worth it. I recommend them.

Great spot in a lovely bright terminal of Delta with a fountain ⛲️, pianos 🎹 and spacious seating area! coffee was great and service is nice and friendly! loved the experience!

It's crazy that of all places the Italian coffee company illy would have a cafe inside the Delta terminal of the Detroit airport. Located right next to the big fountain, the cafe is centrally located in the terminal. Surprisingly, the line is never as long as that other big American chain with the lady in green despite having far superior (stronger) coffee. If you've never had an illy espresso drink before, brace yourself for some really good stuff. It's too bad that there aren't more merch available for purchase like the other illy cafes.

Like went fairly quickly given that it was 7am on a holiday weekend. Staff was good about checking ingredients to make sure they were non-dairy and the drinks were nice!

Lovely Cafe. Very good coffee, good pastries, lax presentation. There were little card holders so that each of the pastry items could have an identifying label. But, there were no labels on anything. Annoying. So every customer has to ask questions and waste time. Stop slacking. PLEASE reverse this trend which seems to be everywhere. Care about details again. They matter. Lovely otherwise.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the shops in the McNamara terminal and airport (in general) were closed. Options were limited. This coffee shop was one that I had not heard of before, and I really had no coffee substitutes to choose from. However, in a way, I am glad that I came here and tried their iced coffee. When I go to a coffee shop, I usually order some sort of iced coffee. I do not like it to be on the overly sweet side where I am essentially drinking a cup of liquid sugar. I like the coffee to be strong and rich, and I like it to have a couple splashes of the sweet flavor. That was exactly what I received! The flavor I had with my iced coffee was caramel. The barista put in a very little amount that was perfect for complimenting the coffee's taste.

I saw this place and had to grab coffee since I hadn't had illy since I was in Italy. It definitely wasn't as good as when you go to Italy. Sad. I got a cafe mocha with almond milk.

Had an extraordinarily rude person taking the orders today. It was completely inappropriate. But I'm giving two stars because the gentleman making the drinks was very nice. But I couldn't believe how obnoxiously rude she was. She even talked about me trying to cut line with the other customers while I was in line waiting to order. That's so unprofessional. I didn't realize there was a line and didn't know you had to go in the back to order and when I tried to explain it to the lady at the counter she was really not nice

I am a fan of the Illy brand of coffee where this establishment does not disappoint. My coffee was a full bodied nicely balanced cup of coffee which is the trademark of this brand. The Establishment itself was clean bright and located in a nice central location in the McNamara terminal. Definitely a great place to sit and enjoy your coffee as you wait for your flight.

Relaxing vibe and excellent service. The gentleman helping me today was very friendly and wished me a really nice day and flight. I really enjoyed the modern white decor, especially the extra large coffee mugs around. Nice view of planes. It's located right in the middle of McNamara terminal--You can't miss it after you leave security and make your way to the gates. I enjoyed my flavorful and moist blueberry muffin. I also grabbed a bottle of water and a Vitamin water. I appreciated their grab and go section. I wasn't in the mood for a coffee so I appreciated their other offerings. They have some seating, spread out so you feel like you have privacy. Lots of natural light coming in from all the large windows. Nearby was a musician, singing and playing guitar. It was lovely.

Foam was sad, like someone didn't want to be at the job this early on labor day morning. Glorified milk coffee, that's all it is.

They are friendly and have a nice selection of coffee, drinks and more. The area is so clean and very welcoming i will come back to this eatery.

I was here for a connection flight, long line, after paying $6,00 for a cappuccino (asked about 3 shots, they put only 2) the barista gave me a 16oz cup full of foam! I asked for a better drink, she insisted to say that's how they make cappuccinos?!!! What? I know exactly what Illy cappuccino should be! I then requested to be refunded, but the cashier couldn't figure it out to give my money back. Asked me to go back in line! The manager (Shanay) who was making the drinks didn't care about correcting my drink, just did another full cup of foam. Customers in line also were shocked to watch what happened! Bad attitude early in the morning isn't a way to do good business! Go somewhere else! This is the worse Illy experience we had until today!

Great, friendly, prompt service, and it was delicious. Much better than their competition, who couldn't be bothered to serve me (read that review, as well). Worth the walk!

After waiting in line for 2-3 minutes, the barista informed me that I had entered from the wrong side and needed to join the back of the line, although I was there before all the customers currently waiting. I apologized for the honest mistake, but I was disappointed when the barista refused to take my order, even after the new customers behind me urged her to do so. Hope the service can be improved.

The staff was okay, The shop is next to a nice Fountain - very pretty with laminar flow water. The coffee is strong but smooth. You can not customize very much but it gets out pretty fast.

Absolutely the worst coffee drink I had in my entire life. Ordered " Caffe Machiatto" Got their tiny cute "illy" cup with a dash of strong coffee and little foam on top NOT even enough for a taste.

Mykah is always pleasant to see when I fly in from time to time in the MAC terminal. Always in a good mood, always serving good coffee.

I always love stopping at this cafe before a flight! The lattes are superb and the baked goods are the best. I'm enjoying a large latte today made with almond milk and a cranberry scone. Sitting in the cafe to eat is fun when you can see the airplanes out the window. Friendly staff here too.

I've had Illy coffee before and it is less than impressive. I got a vanilla latte with almond milk and it was very light. Also, very expensive! It's Starbucks prices but you get a smaller amount for a small size. The workers could've been a bit more happy, but I understand that they've been on their feet all day and that they get so many customers a day. Eh. Never returning. The seating area is very pretty and modern though.

I've had my eye on this spot a zillion times as I've passed through DTW running to catch my next flight. I've always thought how nice it would be to sit, pretend to be Italian, work and watch the hustling travelers whirl by... My time finally came to make this experience a reality this past weekend thanks to a three hour layover. I ordered a double shot of espresso (in the adorable little ceramic cup with saucer) and found a comfortable seat that pointed out towards the travelers and the beautiful fountain installation. This Illy is fairly no frills but the staff was friendly and the location in the center of DTW was hard to beat. Imagine the sounds of the fountain splashing, the natural light flooding in and the smell of espresso in the air . It's a quite lovely spot to pass a few hours between flights. The prices are reasonable and no more than you would pay at Plum Market down the way. Enjoy!

Pretty disappointing water downed drip coffee from a famous European brand. Look like an earl grey tea but 'tasted' more bland

Just very average pastries. They were heavy with fat, greasy through the bag fat. The cappuccino was good but not special in any way. If I had to do it for again I would choose a different coffee spot in this airport.

This is the best cafe I have ever seen. I was on a work trip with a long flight delay and spent the day viewing the fountain with an espresso and blueberrg muffin. The coffee was bold, flavorful and not bitter and the muffin wasn't too sweet or greasy either. Had a lovely experience there at the Detroit Airport. Wish JFK had the a similar cafe. The fountain is mesmerizing!

Always a good place for a coffee. I typically skip it because there is always a line. Today it was short and got a regular coffee and b'fast sandwich. The sandwich was a bagel with egg and cheese. It lacked salt and recommend the bacon egg cheese sandwich instead. Coffee was excellent as would be expected from Illy.

Rude. Unfriendly, and bad attitude it be kind. Not the first time I have been to this place. All this and the coffee also is not with good at all.

My fave way to travel at McNamara terminal. Their coffee is flawless and the yogurt parfait is a great way to start a trip.

The breakfast sandwiches are terrible. Muffins are delicious. Coffee is good too. But the breakfast sandwiches really kill it because everything is so expensive!

Hate to downgrade but since opening this Illy has kind of lost its luster. It's slower than before, the food options seems to be less impressive, and the service is a bit more aloof than it used to be. Hot chocolate and the espresso drinks are still great tho. So just prepare for a bit of a longer wait than you may have experienced previously.

A nice place to kick back with an espresso inside DTW. It's located inside the Delta terminal by the fountain and has an overall relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed a Red Eye and although pricier than non-airport pricing at a whopping $5, the coffee and espresso were tasty. The environment is nice too and the entire place gives off a European feel. I'd recommend grabbing a cup of joe and a pastry or croissant here and relaxing a little bit before your flight!

I like Illy. I have enjoyed them during my European jaunts for ages, and I'm always happy to stop by when transiting the Detroit Airport. It's far better than its other coffee chain rivals, but the quality in the US isn't what it is in Europe. Is that an unfair standard? Perhaps. But this is my Yelp page, isn't it? So 4 stars it is. This location also sells pastries and, curiously enough, hard boiled eggs. Look, I don't mean to be crass, but if you are the person that made the decision to sell hard boiled eggs to people who are about to board a closed metal tube with recycled air with another hundred or more people, I just can't say I support that decision. The Illy Espressamente was the only "eatery" I tried when visiting the DTW airport. It was towards the middle of the A concourse. My layover to Amsterdam wasn't long so I didn't have time to grab a actual meal. I also try to limit myself from eating and drinking too much when flying, I hate those stupid airplane bathrooms. I very much enjoy Illy coffee, so the place caught my eye. They also had a nice little lounge area right out front where you can enjoy your coffee with comfortable seating. I ordered a medium espresso, which came out to a whopping $3.50. I expect heavy prices when being inside a sterile area of the airport behind security, they got you. I also ordered a cup of watermelon to help my sugar level a little bit, the cup set me back $3.99. While super pricey, the watermelon was excellent and fresh. My little medium espresso also hit the spot and gave me that little energy boost I needed to make it through my next grueling 7hour flight to Europe. If you like Espresso, I'd definitely walk over to Illy when visiting DTW concourse A.

Delta Airlines pours horrible Starbucks coffee on their airplanes that I simply can't drink. Luckily, in Detroit Airport, there is a cafeteria that provides better than average coffee and pastries. I wouldn't say that it is superior, but it is very good considering their location. In many bigger airports like Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta or Denver International, it would be a problem to enjoy a decent coffee in the morning. And here I don't need to have sugar in my latte. One more reason to have a connection through Detroit.

Stopped in for a quick morning treat to ease the flight...the bartender Borko was super nice and helpful...one of the better ones I've experienced lately. Very personable. This place is right in the center of McNamara terminal. I was able to try any of the food, but it appeared to be muffins and breakfast sandwiches. As for lunch, seemed to have more of a selection. Next time I'm in the terminal I'll have to swing by....you may want to as well.

Great spot for coffee and some wine with live music before your flight. Highly recommend. They have pastries and muffins but no full meals.

Great service in afternoon 5/24. I don't get the reviews of some people...it's an airport...I'm a veteran and I believe it takes some fortitude to work at a coffee kiosk at an airport. Also, not much people carry cash anymore...there should be a tip option included when using a card payment!!

Very mediocre coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and it was warm milk dumped on a bad shot of espresso. I could see the barista making my drink, he did not tamp the coffee for the espresso and poured the same amount of milk into my cappuccino as he did into the latte for the lady who ordered after me.

Really stellar, smart staff with a great sense of humor. I don't like syrupy sweet service where folks blink at you behind doe eyes ---the ladies working here are just fun. Decent tiramisu, acceptable espresso. 4stars for the ladies behind the counter.

Delta's Detroit World Gateway terminal just keeps getting better and better...and to that, the recent addition of the Illy Espressamente Coffee Bar. Right in the center of the A Terminal adjacent to the big water fountain and convenient to the speedy elevated tram, Illy is a great addition to the coffee and snack choices all with a welcome 'European' edge and flair. The Illy Italian gourmet espresso, cappuccino and brewed coffee is rich, but velvety smooth...even the basic coffee. They are a welcome departure from the harsh blends at SBs. Open every day. Plenty of sandwiches, sweets, pastries and cakes are offered as well.

So I'm at DTW today with a Summer head cold and all I want is some warm tea to make me feel better. I see illy and head over. I ask "Bert" if he could make me a Tea and he says "You pick the tea and I give you the cup and water!" I'm a little sad and I say with my pouty face on "Awww, so no Chai Latte?!?!" And Bert says "I think we can make that happen, hold on!" Bert got to steaming some milk and made a deliciously frothy milky tea latte. It was fantastic! Made my day! Thanks Bert!!! Xoxo, Ernie

Coffee and snacks good - it's severely overpriced however it's the airport and while that does not make it OK - it is understandable. It's a coffee stand and but it is fast.

Very courteous staff working efficiently. My large cup of cappuccino has only half the amount of beverage. I was not pleased. Also, donuts were bland and coffee could not bring any flavor to them. Disappointing.

If you're looking for something a little different, welcome to Illy! This location is a welcome find, conveniently located at the junction of Terminal A and the Tunnel of Light. The look and feel is fresh and modern, and the café area has a great view of the fountain and the tarmac. All this makes for a fantastic setting to enjoy Illy's classic, perfectly roasted and well-brewed coffees. Rich and full-bodied, Illy coffee welcome change of pace from the usual airport coffee options. Of note, their Brazilian cold-brewed coffee is bold an balanced and worthy of a try.

I have only had double espresso's from here. I have them mostly in Europe so it's nice to be able to get one here at the airport in Detroit Delta terminal.

My 9 year old was begging for something to eat but our extremely short layover made it difficult to wait in the very long McDonalds line so a stop for a banana and kids hot chocolate had to be enough. It was enough but the service was similar to the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld.

Best coffee in KDTW! Large Cappucco with fast service hits the spot; nice baked goods too.

I don't dish out two star reviews for just anyone. Illy really earned it today. I was excited when I walked up, the line wasn't long, there was hope of a good coffee this morning! Then I got to the counter and asked the barista(?) what kind of milk they had. He replied skim and whole. I was disappointed as I was hoping for almond because I'm lactose intolerant but I ordered just ordered a cappuccino and figured I'd deal with it. It's 6:20am on Wednesday 11/28 and I forgot to tell him what size. Instead of simply asking, this fine, kind human said "am I supposed to just pick the size for you?" I ordered a small. I did not give him a tip. There was one person waiting for their coffee ahead of me. As it came up the actual, much kinder seeming barista said, "here is your almond milk latte". Almond milk, what?! I immediately said back to the unkind person behind the counter, hey, you didn't mention the almond milk. He said "you asked the types of milk, not milk substitutes" My patience at its limit I replied, "even though it's not regular milk, it's still milk" He then said well it's an up charge and went to the register as if to ring it up. I told him to forget it. There could have been recovery, if only this gentlemen had simply just given me the almond milk to address his mistake. Just exhibited some of the customer service I would have seen anywhere else down Terminal A. But instead he chose wrong. Horrible customer service earned this bad review. Respectable tasting coffee gave it one star back.

I travel all the time for vacation and business. I've always been curious to try it. Well today I did and it was phenomenal. The coffee tastes very fresh, I recommend you get the croissant to go with it. Although I couldn't tell what was better, the service or the coffee...Jessica, Jena, and Rainell made me feel at home and very welcome as soon as I stepped up to the counter. They greeted me with smiling faces and positive attitudes. With a long day ahead, I was reassured that everything would be fine. Thank you to these lovely ladies.

Anytime I'm going through DTW or someone is and I'm picking them up, I always like this coffee. The Cafe Greco it is my go-to. I also love their croissants there. Both are very special and legit. Cheap lids and cups allow coffee to leak out the sides all over your hands. I've purchased coffee here many times and I've never not had my coffee leak all over the place. Yes, I know how to put a lid on and check if it's secure. The usual crappy airport-style customer service. Expect an eye roll for any special requests such as filling black coffee to the top of the cup instead of leaving room for cream and sugar if you just want it black. Of course they were already going to do it! When I don't ask they never do... The product is nothing special but not the worst either, overpriced for what you get.
