Illy Coffee Bar

Absolutely brutal spot. Sat down at a table. We were the only people there. Had to scan to order. Got a beer and croissant.. waiting 5/8 minutes while watching the person behind the bar do nothing but stay on her phone. Walked up and asked where both the beer and croissant were and said we don't have croissants and the bartender isn't here yet so we can't serve you beer. All while it says "everything will be brought to your table" No wonder it's empty...

This place was pretty much at my gate at JFK. Coffee was super expensive but it was decent. I guess most people drink alcohol here but I was coming off a weekend of drinking in south Florida + no sleep soo... Service fantastic. Dayna, the bartender, is an absolutely fantastic person. She has her own cool business. Ask her about it! If I have to have a layover at JFK I hope it's this terminal!

Can't even warm up your chocolate croissant. $20 for coffee cold croissant and orange. What a rip off. This is a place that will go out of business soon!

We had a fantastic experience at this airport bar! Dana, the bartender, was incredibly friendly and made us feel at ease about our flight. The drinks and snacks were delicious, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. Definitely a 5-star experience!

Dayna is the best bartender!!! She is great to talk to. It's a great spot to kill time when your JetBlue flight is delayed ;)

Horizon Bakery Cafe's was alright. The tea was good. Their cheese danish and chocolate croissant were really tasty. This place is good for getting a lil snack when you're feeling a bit hungry.

Excellent customer service. Server was great. Anticipated our needs and re-filled water without even asking. Great time waiting for my flight.

Dayna is a fantastic bartender! First of all Kind we didn't make our flight in time. She was so kind and helped me order a drink on the app.and made that drink Perfect. Patty A.

I would like to bless the lovely lady that works by gate 1 next to the bakery. I missed my flight at 4:45pn and had to list standby for the next flight which is at 11:15pm. I was very upset and I went to the bar and that sweet bartender calm me down and was so good I had a drinks instead of ten cupcakes!!! bless you dayna!! I don't have to buy new clothes in the next size

go see DAYNA!!! She makes your delay pleasant... wish I could put her in my pocket... you just cant be mean to her Despite the circumstances ... DEFINITELY a hidden gem!!! SHHHHhH but not SHHHHHH!!!!

I was Waiting for my flight at gate 1 and I wanted to see if there was a drink around. I stopped by this place and thought "I found a drink!". I sat down and was not greeted, I said "Good morning" and she said "hey". okay? horrible first impression. then I ask for a menu "we don't have a menu" so I asked "what do you have?" and she points at the bar. like are you guys serious? How am I suppose to know how much things cost? Or what mixed drinks you make? I'm traveling and she has that type of attitude? I didn't order anything because she wasn't welcoming, plain and simple. however I'm not surprised because customer service has nothing but dwindled since the pandemic. i went to another bar around the corner and they had a menu and the credit card machine is working. Go to "RE:VIVE" bar, the have a menu and someone greeting you.

The woman working behind the counter was on her phone, couldn't be bothered to greet me when I walked up and then another customer told me they were "closed" and that he was the last customer they planned to serve. Checked the hours - they're open until 12am. It's not even 9pm. And in case you're wondering, the woman is still engrossed in whatever is on her phone. Even if you're part of the captive audience that would be forced to go here, don't bother. The worker is more than likely busy doing nothing.

Tucked all the way on the back of Terminal 5, by gate 1, sits Horizon bakery cafe. Out of beaten path, hidden around the corner - so there is rarely a line here, especially in early morning hours. Cannot go wrong with good Illy coffee and almond croissant before your flight! There are several tables to sit and sip your coffee, as well as bar seating. Shhhh. Don't tell anyone about this little secret gem. But come and enjoy your coffee.

I cannot even start with anything positive......it wss opened for business....no employee in sight. Shameful

Totally inappropriate clerk screaming and cursing into her phone so loud whole gate can hear. Shouting that she is going to punch or spit in the face of person on other end of the phone. Surprised airport security has not removed her. Makes for very unsettling area to wait to board plane.

Sometimes the airport offers you something nice. At Horizon, it's fruit and a solid selection of Rishi loose-leaf tea. I spent some time in the airport waiting and ended up getting a few cups of tea here and found the white tea with rose incredibly pleasant. It's not clear what temperature their water is, but it's not too hot for white teas. Staff are pleasant and the area around gate 1 has good light. Vegan snacks are available in the form of fruit.

Stood waiting to order at the bar when the girl working on the 29th at 2pm looked at us, walked from around the bar, pushed passed us, then sat down to take her break. An absolute joke of a business and employee.

If I could give this place NO STARS, I would! I don't have high expectations for airport staff when I travel so when I actually decide to write a terrible review, ITS REALLY BAD! Sat down at the tables, he never approached us, moved to the bar, rude and just sat there looking at us. Never asked if he could help, no smile, no hello, nothing. They were out of more than half the items in the menu. Here's a tip for you bartender/waitstaff... you have the ability to get a new job if you hate this one so much and you're bitter about working in a place where people come from all over the world! You certainly didn't deserve the tip you got... I only wish I had pennies on me. You're terrible at your job!

Bartender was apparently between shifts when I got there but I had no way of knowing since he didn't speak to me once. I figured he was dealing with the payment for the couple on the other side of the bar but when he was done at the register he just left with no explanation and no relief. I probably could have gone behind the bar and taken a drink but I decided to go elsewhere.

The woman working there right now just lied to my face when I tried to order a latte, saying she was out of espresso. I could see espresso beans in both grinders on the counter. The line was long... Guaranteed she just didn't want to bother. She was also the slowest barista on the planet ever to have held a job. Probably on other planets too.

This is a whole new level in airport muffin. Rich flavor, moist. It was well worth it to walk past the food court and Dunkin to find this. Coffee cake muffin out of this world. Why does Yelp insist on writing more than what I just said? Hemingway could never have been a Yelper.

I travel for work all the time... worst service I ever received ordered a coffee with cream he takes my money and then tells me there is no cream.... he hand me milk... I take a sip and had throw it out .. coffee was old and burnt..: don't waste your money...

I'm at horizon bakery cafe at JFK airport right now and asked for a pastry. She was slicing lemons and said she would serve me when she was done. Wasn't sure if I understood her so I asked again and she repeated herself, but rudely this time.. Not kidding. So I never was served and I left. Would have told a mgr had there been one. My first yelp review ever. It took something this obnoxious to motivate me.

The bartender was on the phone without fail since I sat down through when I left the bar. Had to distract her to order a beer, she then plugged her phone in and left the station unattended for 15 minutes. Whoever runs this business has no clue about their employees, and this girl couldn't care less about customers. There are a myriad of other choices in JFK. Any one of them is better than this.

Can't give them a zero. Went to buy coffee at 8:45 AM - no one in line - and the woman wouldn't look up from her phone where she was typing away. I finally asked if they were open and got barked at about she needed another few minutes. Shocking customer service even by airport standards.

The girl who is working there right now is incredibly slow. She took forever getting two people bottled beers and then slowly closed our their checks. I was standing in the bakery line and she didn't acknowledge me until she was done helping everyone at the bar. I asked for an iced chai and she said she had no idea how to make one of those and that I would need to go to the place around the corner to get one. My flight had started boarding in the time it took her to get to me. I asked for a cookie and she gave me a muffin. When I reminded her that I had asked for a cookie she looked displeased with me. I should have just gone to the place around the corner.

After a 10hr flight, all I wanted was a coffee. After standing there and being ignored by the lady, I asked "ma'am are you open?" Her incredibly rudely given response was that she was too busy eating to help me. Excuse me for asking politely if it was too much trouble to do your damn job. Welcome back to NY, I guess my vacation really is over. Screw this place...go around the corner to any one of the other places with coffee that will happily accept your money with a smile! ZERO STARS!!
