10 of Montreal’s Best Casual Japanese Restaurants | Eater Montreal

"At a classic izakaya, atmosphere is just as important as the food and drink, and Imadake is no exception. One of Montreal’s original Japanese pubs serves up a vast and varied menu, along with sake bombs and spontaneous karaoke to make up all the fun. You may leave without a voice and smelling like fried chicken skin, but you’ll be full, tipsy, and very happy." - Tiffany Chan

Very nice atmosphere and waitress was very kind, though I found it a little loud at some places in the restaurant. Ramen was amazing, the takoyaki and korokke were super tasty as well. Service was super fast!

With its lively, vibrant atmosphere, it's the perfect venue for happy hour, to unwind after work, or just to have a great time with friends. We kicked off our evening with some delicious appetizers, including salmon tartare and karaage, all of which were wonderful. For our main course, we indulged in a hearty, creamy ramen that was incredibly filling! Of course, no visit would be complete without a round of sake bombs, and I couldn't resist going all out with the Rainbow Bomb 🌈💣 for a fun twist! 😅

The service was really 10/10 As for the food I have no complaints The ramen has changed me as a person, definitely a must try! I would totally come back for it (and I tend to be VERY picky with my ramen) However I think for the price the portions can be fairly small, if you have a really big appetite one plate will not be enough to fill you up.

Back in my izakaya days 🏮, this was my favorite spot. I tried almost every izakaya in Montreal, and theirs was the best at the time.

Really excellent and high quality Japanese food! Everything we ate was fresh, flavourful and pretty authentic. We were a big group, but six of us shared a bunch of entrees and a couple main dishes and we each had drinks and a round of shots as well. For all that the price split 6 ways was pretty good! And the service was on point. Our server came and checked on us regularly, ensured we had everything we needed. My ONLY complaint is that we were there celebrating a birthday and the very small piece of cake they brought was actually charged, maybe that's a thing restaurants do now but other places I've been to in the past always gave that for free. There's a second reason I bring this up though and that's because it wasn't a good dessert. It was matcha flavour cheesecake and those flavours do not mix well. Many of us tried it and no one liked it, even though many of us like those two things separately, it just wasn't good together. Thanks for the wonderful dinner and experience! I plan to go back for a date night!

Ok so, both my partner and I got food poisoned (1 hour after we had dinner here). We both had Ramen. I had mine with beef (Shoyu Tonkotsu) and she had hers with teriyaki chicken (Umami Soya). We shared the food. One thing for sure, the chicken was off both in taste and texture.

A Wonderful Japanese Izakaya. Delicious food, variety of drink options, sake bombs, great atmosphere. Coat check at the front for easy sitting (chairs do not have backs but are very comfortable). All the staff are amazing. Cant wait to stop back next time I’m in town. Recommend!

Came here with a group of 5. We split 2 sake bottles and shared a number of plates. Everything was excellent including the service, and it was priced reasonably for the quality you’re getting. It’s a great place to be a little adventurous and try different things.
