The Best Restaurants In Tokyo

"Katsu is a breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlet, and it’s a traditional Japanese dish usually served with rice and shredded cabbage. Imakatsu is hands-down our favorite spot for it because they manage to keep things crispy without being dry or overly fried and greasy. It sounds simple, but finding the right balance can be tough, and Imakatsu has it down to a science. You want to focus on their chicken tenderloin, but if it’s your first time, consider getting a mixed platter so you can try both their menchi (minced) and rosu (loin) cuts of meat too." - josh layne

Had to wait about 15 mins to be seated but it was well worth it. Pork loin tonkatsu is delicious but isn’t outstanding. Other places also offer good quality, if not even better, but is still very solid - not overcooked. The tenderloin chicken katsu is the real star of the show. So tender and juicy - cooked to the perfect doneness. I don’t think I’ve had chicken this good. Pork tenderloin and creamy crab croquettes are reasonably delicious. Be warned that the chicken is slightly pink on the inside, so if you’re uncultured don’t even bother coming and take other people’s seats.

Typical Tokyo hole in wall/down an alley restaurant. Food is excellent. Been here twice now, 2019 and 2025. It’s known for their chicken katsu and it’s really good. Arrived at 6:05 just after opening and already full inside. Waited for 25 minutes for table. We just lined up outside, waiter brought menus so people were prepared to order once called inside. Food comes out fast. Chicken was delicious. The standard chicken meal set (rice, salad, soup and chicken) was only about $13 US. Great deal.

We arrived on Saturday evening at 5:40 PM, which was during the second round of dinner service. We were seated and able to start our meal around 6:30 PM. About 80% of the diners today seemed to be Korean, possibly due to a special collaboration menu. The chicken tempura didn’t have any unpleasant odor, but it also lacked any distinctive flavor. It wasn’t dry, but the texture wasn’t particularly tender either—not quite like sous vide. There was a service issue where two beers were brought to our table. We had already started drinking them when the server told us they were a mistake. We had ordered a set and weren’t sure what was included, but in the end, we were charged quite a bit for the beers we hadn’t ordered. The environment felt greasy, and the table wasn’t properly cleaned. Overall, we wouldn’t return.

This will be the place I measure all my future Katsu meals against. The meal was very very good. Keep in mind that taste is subjective, but for me, this is the perfection of crispiness, juiciness, and flavor. We didn't wait in line at all, but I think that was luck. While we ate, it looked like about 10-15 people queued up outside waiting to get that Katsu goodness, and it might have only got worse after that. The staff was pleasant and the food was served pretty quick. It took a little bit to get the bill, but that is barely mentionable, as the rest of everything was amazing.

Visited this for my last dinner in Japan during a vacation and I would definitely pay it a visit next time I'm in Tokyo. Undoubtedly the best meal during my 2-week long trip and prolly one of the best in my whole life. Their chicken katsu is to die for. Crazy tender and delicious in every bite, it left me speechless.

Google
Didn't expect that the chicken cutlet was better than the pork one. Please, please order a Chicken tender cutlet! It tastes like out of this world. You may wait for 2-30 min even if you go there before/after lunch time.

Google
Saw good review for this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We had to queue for more than 30 minutes before we got our seats. The restaurant has a sitting capacity for about 20 persons only. We had a variety of katsu, and all were excellent. All were crispy but not oily. I love the chicken katsu, best of all. The chicken is tender and juicy. Service was also quite fast. This is definitely one of the nicest places to eat in Tokyo.

Google
Wow this was amazing! We lined up for maybe 20mins on a weekday around 6:45pm but it was well worth the wait. The restaurant is quite small so probably best to go with a small group of 2-4. I got an assorted katsu variety and it was amazinggg, the batter was light and the meats were soft and juicy. Not too greasy at all. One set is the perfect amount for one person. Free refills for rice and cabbage salad. Highly recommend and would come again!

Yelp
May have been too eager today to try the Sasami chicken breast fillet katsu so got here at 10:45am, way before the 11:30am opening time. Around 11am a line started to form behind me and when it opened, there were a handful of people who didn't make it to the first round seating. Must try the chicken katsu. Incredibly tender, juicy and just the perfect crispy thin fried shell. The large prawn (700 yen extra) was so good...kind of like biting into a small lobster. I added the fresh wasabi and enjoyed it. I would skip on the tororo grated yam because it wasn't super flavorful even with the added dashi soy sauce mixed in. Free refill on cabbage and white rice. Definitely a great place for people who want to try katsu...they have pork and other seafood options as well. Service is friendly and the waiter spoke perfect English!

Yelp
We lived near that area while we were visiting Japan. My relative and I just roamed around and found this place with reasonable priced fried foods. We rarely eat fried foods in our hometown and the menu looked good. We went in and the servers were kind. We ordered different to try an assortment of fried foods. Mine came with pork, which was nice and juicy, chicken katsu which was thicker than the katsu I have at home, tempura shrimp which was very good and plump, and the menchi katsu which was flavorful but very oily so it made me feel bloated and dense. The rice was good and I ate the pickled veggies to reduce the oiliness. It wasn't bad and quite flavorful. There were also sauces you could dip which was nice. I guess I'm just not used to eating a lot of fried things so I was quite full but it was delicious, and wonderfully cooked. The batter was thin and it was piping hot! I forgot the specific price but it was def worth it and less than $15 which was a steal!

Yelp
We had tried to try this place many times but there was usually we a line. We went on a random weeknight and were able to get a table. I now know why this place is so popular - it is really good. My partner tried crab cream croquette and the katsu Scottish egg and menchiktsu (diced up meat) set, and I had the hire (fillet) katsu. Everything was delicious - they clearly the use high quality pork. They also have a chicken breast katsu that looks really good for those who do not eat pork. If I can get a table, I will go again. Service was very prompt and polite and the atmosphere is a typical Japanese (pretty tight on the inside).

Yelp
We got in to the restaurant just before last order. We ordered the roast katsu and the katsu curry. Unlimited cabbage was very good - had 3 refills each. Loved their salad dressing. The ratio of curry to rice to katsu was perfect - meaning I didn't run out of curry with half my rice remaining like I do in some places. Ambience was nice and cozy. Service was top notch.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem, conveniently located just a minute's walk from Roppongi Station. Tucked away in an unassuming alley, the restaurant's unassuming facade might cause you to overlook it. After our shopping in the vicinity, we decided to stop by about an hour before closing, and to our delight, there was no waiting line. :) We ordered a selection of katsu dishes, including chicken katsu and pork katsu (hire and rosu). All of them were well-prepared, with a light and crisp breading that perfectly complemented the tender and juicy meat. However, the standout for me was the rosu pork katsu, which had just the right amount of fat to add that extra layer of flavor. The chicken katsu was good, but I wouldn't label it as the best. It didn't quite reach the "wow"factor for me. All meals come with extras like miso soup, refillable cabbage salad, and refillable rice. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was excellent. All in all, it's a great spot for anyone in search of a good and convenient tonkatsu meal right in the heart of Roppongi.

Yelp
10/10 katsu so good I could cry. It's tucked away just off the main road, you'll probably see a line (for a good reason)! Enjoy

Yelp
A superb find! Order the pork & chicken and share for two- plenty to share!! It's juicy & crisp at the same time. We came on a Monday, so just remember they're closed on Sundays. The service is great and the casual vibe is comforting for Tokyo. If you're in Roppongi, this is the spot to have tonkatsu.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Katsu I have ever tried. Everything was delicious, chicken, pork, shrimp, etc.

Yelp
Hands down the best chicken Katsu I've had. The breading was exceptionally light and the chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. The cabbage salad and miso rounded out a delicious lunch for 1,700 yen. Also. As I was waiting in line to enter, a well dressed gentlemen tasked me how I found this restaurant and I told him Yelp. He said "excellent choice". Seems like a well known spot for locals as well.

Yelp
We sought this place out based on reviews and it did not disappoint. We both had the most amazing chicken katsu. I cannot do this chicken justice with words -- the best I have in Japan so far.

Yelp
I have to jump ahead to the punch line: Hands down the best chicken katsu--in fact, the best fried chicken--I've ever eaten! It was just perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, so lightly breaded I couldn't believe it was fried at all. Not a trace of oil, yet a nice crunch with each bite. The waiter recommended trying it first with just a bit of salt and that combination was just divine. There is a much more potent vinegary and tomatoey katsu sauce and a dab of spicy mustard on the side of the plate you can add. To back it up a bit we came on a Saturday night having reserved a table ahead of time. We had to use google translate to explain to the wait staff who kept telling us to wait in line that we had a reservation already. Once they understood they took us to the cutest little private room alcove that could seat two to four. The place is simply decorated with black painted tables, tatami style seating (though the seats are actually benches so you can actually put your feet under the table and sit down like normal western place), with three clay pots on the side with a sesame salad dressing, high quality salt, and House katsu sauce. For two we ordered the chicken katsu set which came with shredded cabbage at the beginning which was perfectly light, a great way to pique ones appetite, and paired perfectly with the nutty fresh sesame dressing, then six pieces of divine fried chicken, with some lovely pickled greens and bamboo shoots on the side, and a bowl of rice. We also got the fried eggplant marinated in a nice soy sauce based glaze, and the half pork katsu curry udon which was lovely, quite fatty on the side of each piece and a tad chewy as a result but really high quality and again perfectly fried. The curry sauce was more nuanced and well balanced than any Japanese brown curry I've had before. The meal went nicely with sake. The staff was friendly and helpful, and all in all it was a perfect meal. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is located down an alleyway and a bit unassuming one could miss it if one weren't looking carefully. The restaurant is somewhat small, with two private rooms, maybe 5 counter seats, and maybe another 8 tables inside. For the private rooms they ask you to take your shoes off and place them outside. They also ask you not to step on the floor too hard because the building is old? It was a strange request but I tried my best not to destroy the floor. Two people in my party had shoes that were difficult to take off so we opted to sit at the counter seats instead of private rooms as no regular tables were open. We arrived at 3 and were warned that they must close at 3:50. The menu had english on it. We ordered the chicken katsu, pork katsu, and pork/curry katsu. Haven't had too many katsu in my life so I'm not sure what to compare this place to, however their katsu is well executed. The breading is light and crispy, and the meat interior is juicy and tender. The rice was cooked perfectly as well. The price for the portion was slightly on the high side. The only issue was perhaps because they were in such a rush to close, they didnt fry the chicken all the way. If you look at the picture I posted when they first brought dishes out the chicken was a bit pink in the middle. 2 pieces were this way. We brought it to the waitress's attention, she looked at it, and thought for a few moments, then told us that was ok... We sort of looked at each other like... what? Then she came back a minute later to take the dish away. Then brought the dish back to us later a few minutes later. We think they fried it a bit more or replaced the 2 pieces that were pink. We're still not quite sure if anything was done. Only time will tell... I would recommend not coming so close to their closing time.

Yelp
The best chicken Katsu I have ever had - and I've had a lot of chicken katsu. The restaurant is located within walking distance to the metro line but then again, almost everything in Tokyo is walking distance to a metro stop. Upon arrival, there was a small line in front of the restaurant but that just means the food must be good. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Our server gave us English menus and we ordered a chicken Katsu and a pork Katsu. I don't exaggerate, and I truly mean it when I say the chicken katsu was the best I've ever had. Idk how or what they do to the chicken to make it as tender and crispy as it is. Honestly, after I finished my meal, I wanted to shake the hand of the chicken that I ate because he or she was delicious. If you're in Tokyo, make it a must see - Roppongi is a great area for foodies especially if it's late night. Five stars for this one.

Yelp
Came here because someone recommended it and confirmed by the rave reviews on Yelp. Perhaps we came on an off day (we've all had then haven't we?). The only enjoyable part of dining here was the wonderful service. The young lady waitress (who happens to be from Southern California) was helpful with menu selection and how to best enjoy their famous sasami-katsu (chicken tenderloin katsu). Speaking of katsu, we were very disappointed with the soggy-like panko coating compared to the much more golden brown, crunchy version we were expecting. Maybe it's the style here but their menu and wall pictures lead us to believe otherwise. The chicken was very tender as claimed, but the pork loin had too much tough chewy connective tissues to enjoy. Location is tucked away in a small alley right off the main street. Very convenient if staying around the Roppongi or Tokyo Midtown area.

Yelp
Tonkatsu is a breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet. According to sources, it originated in Japan in the 19th century. A pork filet or loin is floured, dipped into beaten egg and then coated with bread crumbs before being deep fried. It's supremely tasty. Once I located Imakatsu, I was a little concerned because my server said that he did not speak English. We managed to work out that I wanted a beer and a serving of katsu. What arrived was a cold draft beer, a bowl of shredded cabbage and then my main course - a nice filet of katsu, sliced into several bite-sized pieces, a big bowl of rice, miso soup, and a small bowl of Japanese pickles. All of it was amazingly tasty and I enjoyed it thoroughly. A small complaint - the pork cutlet was not very well trimmed of fat. Each of the slices had a good quarter inch of it, which took away from a great meal. Looking for great Katsu? Here's the spot.

Yelp
definitely some of the best katsu i've ever had the chicken katsu was incredibly tender, juicy, lightly crispy, and flavorful i believe it's the breast tenderloin (sasami?) so i was shocked to see how juicy and flavorful they were able to make boring chicken breast the sauces were also amazing i inhaled my plate

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for an authentic off the beaten path Japanese restaurant for dinner and found Imakatsu. It's on the ground level down an alley way not too far from Roppongi Hills. Just follow Yelp to their map location and look for a large blue fabric sign with the Kanji that matches their listing. I uploaded a photo to help plus it is just four characters. I am pleased to report they are no longer English unfriendly as a previous reviewer noted. We were greeted and shown to our table with broken but quite understandable English. The tables in the back, where we were seated, require one to remove his or hers shoes not so if seated towards the front. We were given English menus to review (no pictures) but several good photos already on Yelp to help. We both picked the three piece chicken fillet meal that comes with plenty of the tenderest and lightest chicken I have ever experienced. Very good indeed. The meal starts with a bowl of "cabbage" but I would be more inclined to call it shredded lettuce. It was not bitter at all like cabbage can be. There is a wonderful peanut sauce on the table to pour over the cabbage. Our server was helpful and pointed this out to us along with setting up the other sauce on the table with salt for our chicken. The cabbage and peanut sauce was so enjoyable we asked for and got seconds at no charge. Along with the chicken fillet we were also served white steamed rice and miso soup. We had a table full of food at this point and worked hard to polish it all off. I would have hated to leave anything this good behind. Service was great and the noise level in the place was moderate at worse but never loud. The cook sometimes yells at the server I guess for when an order is ready. I think we were the only non locals in the place this evening but at no time felt uncomfortable or not welcomed. My wife and I were in and out of here for less then ¥5,000 including one beer each.

Yelp
I actually found this place on tabelog (Japanese version of yelp), but same as here, this place has RAVING reviews. In fact, I tried few other nearby katsu kitchens, including Butagumi Shokudou (豚組食堂) in the Roppongi Hills, but hands down, this one is the best. The servers were limited in English, but they were extremely friendly and they do have an English menu. I was told their chicken katsu was the most popular option. It was very delicate-- crunchy and tender and meaty but light (how is this possible?) all at the same time. The pork tenderloin katsu was also really good. The flavor was wonderful (and I normally don't even like pork), definitely tasted fattier compared to their chicken, but not as fat as katsu from Shokudou (豚組食堂). If I have to choose between their chicken and pork, I'd order chicken. The finely chopped cabbages are fantastic with their special dressing (ginger-citrus based?). A great traditional way to balance the palate.

Yelp
We went here as a group of 4 without a reservation, and were excited they had a table free since the online reviews are so great. The staff speaks limited English but they have an English menu (ask if you don't see it). Unfortunately, they were out of the vegetable plate that night (even though it was only 7pm), which was the only real vegetarian option. I wound up eating rice & pickles and edamame while my meat-eating pals were in heaven. The chicken was definitely the highlight, but the egg (surrounded by a layer of meat) was also a favorite and everyone else enjoyed the curry sauce that came with one. The sesame miso sauce they provide is for the cabbage salad, which they will refill for free if you like. The other sauce is for the katsu. If you want rice, order the "rice set" as a side, which is a bowl of rice, pickles, and miso soup. They serve beer and sake and wine, as well as whiskey highballs. Staff was friendly and prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Hearing all the hype about the chicken katsu at Imakatsu, I knew I had to definitely try this place out given my workplace is just a 5 minute walk away. Came here for Friday night dinner and didn't have to wait very long for a seat. Ordered their chicken katsu and agreed it is definitely one of the top chicken katsu I've had ever. The chicken is extremely tender and juicy and the crisp batter provides a good contrast. However I did find it still a bit lacking compared to tonkatsu (pork). Meal comes with side of rice, miso soup, cabbage, and some pickled vegetables. Very satisfied with the meal, next time I come back I will definitely try the tonkatsu options!
google avatar

Yelp
Another of our favorite meals in Tokyo. Perfectly prepared chicken katsu that is impossibly tender. We would have come back to Imakatsu for a second meal but ran out of time during the vacation. Dip the katsu in some katsu sauce and their mustard, and even drizzle some of that katsu sauce over your rice. They'll happily refill for the bowl of shredded cabbage for free. While searching for this business, keep in mind that you will not see the name "Imakatsu" at the entrance, because the business name is displayed in the Japanese characters. We had to ask the hostess if we were at the right business because it's very easy to stand right in front of this business and not even realize it. If it's any help, the entrance is located right next to a ramen restaurant, and directly across the alley from a convenience store.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best thing we ate in Tokyo. I found this place on Yelp and it was awesome. It's a classic little hole in the wall place down an alley very close to the train station. We showed up at 6:30 and waited 5 minutes for a table to free up. While we were waiting, we stepped outside because place is so small and has no waiting area, they gave us the menu to look at. It is in both languages. So even if you server has limited English skills, it's not an issue, you can simply point to what you want. We all had the chicken katsu and it was amazing. So light, cooked perfectly inside, and the batter flakes off and dissolves in your mouth. Be sure to use a little salt they provide to enhance the flavor, and dip it in the sauce it comes with, too. Rice, cabbage salad, and soup were also provided with the chicken. This entree was about $14 USD and was terrific. They also have many other fried meats from pork and fish that I'm assuming are cooked just like our chicken. Do yourself a favor and go here. I would go back for sure.

Yelp
My absolute favorite tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo! I have visited the Roppongi Honten each time I have visited Tokyo in the past five years. Also, a huge favorite of my wife. Do not miss if you find yourself in Roppongi!

Mishi C.

Yelp
I found this place via someone's blog!...Went to Snoopy museum and then came here for its lunch..that was one of the best decision i made visiting Tokyo.....this is a super tiny restaurant without many seatings..We got lucky..we didn't make reservation..we waited for about 15 mins..which was not bad at all....when we walked in we saw a "Michelin" guide hanging on the wall...I knew that this place must be AWESOME!.. They had English menu and accepted credit card!...the food did not disappoint us..ordered its Pork Katsu and Chicken tender Katsu....they first served shred cabbage (they even offered for second round)...very fresh cabbage with really great salad dressing!..Pork Katsu..is great!..very thin breading and the pork is very moist and tender!..here comes to the chicken tender Katsu..it was soooooo good!!..it literally melt in my mouth.it is so tender and juicy..didn't even feel like i was eating chicken..but it has so tender!..it was the best chicken tender Katsu i have ever tasted!...we were all amazed!.. It was definitely a great lunch!!.

Yelp
This is the best katsu I've ever had. I'd end the review here, but that isn't how Yelp works. Everything tastes amazing: I tried the pork katsu, chicken tender fillet, as well as the cream croquette. This place is known for their chicken katsu, but the pork katsu is more "traditional." There's two versions of the pork katsu, a fattier version and a leaner filet. According to my Japanese hosts, true katsu fans go for the fat, because good katsu is distinguished by the fat. Either way, it's some pretty tasty katsu! Your meal is served with rice and cabbage, which I'm told is to help your stomach digest all the fried food. Most of the dishes here are deep-fried, yet the place doesn't smell or seem greasy at all. Somehow they keep it well contained and the interior atmosphere is calm, classy, and clean. Come by for amazing katsu in an elegant environment!

Blake M.

Yelp
Came here (based on yelp reviews) on a Sunday night around 6:30pm and there was already a line. We were actually lucky and only waited for about 20-30 minutes to get seated (four people). This was well worth the wait. Excellent service (spoke English well enough - very friendly / helpful), and even better food. We had the chicken katsu meal set and the assortment meal set - the cabbage & dressing and miso soup already had us thinking we made a solid choice to come here. Once we had the katsu tho, we were completely sold. This place is amazing. The katsu is the best we've had - lightly battered, not oily, super crunchy / moist. Nothing but great things to say and highly recommend. Price for 3 chicken katsu meal sets, 1 extra chicken katsu piece, and 1 assorted katsu meal set was about $55

Yelp
It is convenient in location close to Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line Roppongi Station exit which is also its very first restaurant branch. We went here to eat during lunch time and it's not that crowded or overhyped, a little understated I guess. The menu book is only in kanji for lunch accordingly but the server seems to understand what I said and serves me two recommendations: chicken tender fillet & premium pork. The recommended menu a.k.a the star of the day is of course the Sasamikatsu which is the chicken tender fillet. It's perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. It's probably the best chicken tender I've tasted in my whole life and I'm not even exaggerating at all. However, the most expensive priced pork katsu there is not that impressive to me. I honestly think this 'bib gourmand' restaurant is supposed to be awarded with at least 1 michelin star instead (maybe when they can serve better pork as well but I'm extremely contented with the chicken tender anyway). Servers are very friendly although they don't speak english at all.

Yelp
The place is a bit hard to find bc there is no sign, but it's pretty much directly across the mini mart. If you're anywhere in the area, it's definitely worth a stop if you are looking for anything katsu. They have probably the best chicken katsu I've had anywhere. The texture was perfectly crispy and the chicken remained juicy and tender. They will refill cabbage and rice upon request. Add the salt and sauce for the most flavor!
google avatar

Yelp
Best. Chicken. Katsu. Ever. So unbelievably crisp, yet somehow... fluffy and soft. I don't think I've ever had fluffy fried chicken before. It blew my mind. The chicken katsu comes with "3 pieces" , but they're big pieces and if you're not that hungry, there's more than enough for 2 people if you each get rice as well. Also, the unlimited cabbage salad with the sauce is so delicious. So glad I visited this restaurant.

Yelp
Chicken fillet is just perfect to me. Pork katsu was almost perfect but we wonder if it's well cooked inside because it looked little red and I got no problem in my stomach though. One of the best katsu restaurant in Tokyo so far
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
This is the most delicious katsu I have ever had. Both the chicken and the pork were absolutely incredible - cooked to perfection. Don't be concerned about the meat being pink on the inside - they use high quality chicken (and pork). Make a reservation through your hotel if you want to avoid the line. The atmosphere is casual - no need to dress up. Service was a little slow, but the food more than made up for it.

Yelp
Best katsu I ever had. It is sooo tender and all the sides match perfectly. It is also a very cosy place. I didn't find out if reservations were possible but just ended up waiting in line sometimes.

Yelp

Yelp
Best chicken katsu I've ever had in my life!! It was so tender and juicy! You don't even need the sauce to go with it. We also had the fried vegetables. Also delicious! Our whole meal was amazing, with great service!

Yelp
My new favorite chicken katsu spot!! I am still dreaming about the delicious dinner! The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous! We ordered chicken katsu, the vegetable tempura with rice set. Though the signs outside are in Japanese (down a small alleyway) they had an English menu and our server was from California originally! She was so sweet and helped us order a fantastic meal. When we couldn't finish, she offered to pack the leftovers for us, which is UNHEARD of in Japan. I will recommend Imakatsu to anyone visiting Tokyo! yum!

Yelp
This place specializes in katsu. I thought the food was delicious. I got a katsu curry (mini size) and it was delicious with the rice. I don't usually eat that much food but it was really good, and I could probably even eat a regular size just fine. The Japanese sesame sauce that's on the side, for your cabbage, was also delicious. The meal itself was only about 1000 yen or so.

Yelp
This place is not english friendly. With that said, the reception guy was especially helpful with his limited English. I pointed at the pork from the wall pictures since it looked good and is what I'm familiar with. He also suggested that I add chicken which is what the place is known for. Turns out, the chicken was probably the best chicken katsu I've ever had. It had a melt in your mouth quality as soon as you take a bite. The pork I thought was good but not exceptional. The chicken really makes the meal. Make sure you use the dipping sauces on the side. If you are budget conscious, make sure not to get both chicken and pork because they count as two sets and cost 3000Y in total.

Yelp
Really tasty katsu. Although they said their chicken was best, I thought the minced meat and prawn were the stars of the meal. My girlfriend and I ordered the mixed set with one of each type of katsu (1820 yen). We were given cabbage which paired nicely with their peanut/sesame sauce.

Yelp
Worthy of their Michelin Star! Delicious Katsu. Crispy on the outside yet still juicy inside. Did not feel like the food was greasy at all, perfect balance. Cosy restaurant atmosphere. Must visit when in the area!

Yelp
Wow the chicken katsu changed me as a person also they recommend adding salt to it to enhance the taste. I was skeptical at first but dang the salt is a game changer it works perfectly and is a top ranked sea salt. So impressive. Also the cabbage and sesame dressing was delish! Pork katsu also amazing and the staff is so friendly and knowledgable can't recommend this place more!

Yelp
The boyfie would not stop talking about chicken katsu so somehow he found this place while we were in the Roppongi area. It was a little hard to find because it wasn't on the main street, but instead, tucked away in an alleyway. We weren't hungry at the time so we asked if we can take it to-go and they were accommodating. After an hour of travel time and relaxing in our hotel room, we decided to have a "taste". Mind you, I don't eat meat anymore, but wanted to try a bite after seeing the Michelin Guide sign in the restaurant. Um. Holy. Moly. This was seriously the best tasting katsu I've ever had in my life. I grew up eating this stuff because my mom would occasionally make it for dinner. I've never had anything so lightly breaded and meat so tender inside. All 3 kinds of chicken katsu were mind-blowingly delicious. It came with dipping sauce, but you honestly don't even need it with the amount of flavor that comes from the katsu itself. The packaging of the to-go items was so neatly packed it was almost like opening a present. If you are a fan of any kind of katsu you MUST come here. Absolutely must!!!!

Yelp
we walked in the restaurant at 11:27 and they told us to wait outside when they opened in 3 minutes and that kinda annoyed me to start off. I forgot about it quickly when I tasted the chicken. ive somehow never tasted chicken like this one. it's so light and tasty. don't even look at the menu honestly. the breeding is perfect. the seating is extremely interesting.

Yelp
Super awesome tonkatsu, pork was so tender and juicy! Small location, down a little street, but easy to find via Google Maps. Good English menu (picture menu) so you can figure out what to order, plus reasonably priced and friendly service! Will be back next month when working in Tokyo again!!!!

Yelp
The chicken here is awesome. So tender. I especially love the egg wrapped with pork. There is no wait and the waitress enthusiastically teached us how to use the sauce for each fish we ordered. The menu is very simple.

Yelp
I had a delicious meal at Imakatsu. I ordered 2 pieces of chicken katsu, one piece of pork fillet, the Japanese bento set (pickles, miso, and rice) and a glass of umeshu for about 2200 yen. The food was yummy. Preferred the chicken to fillet, which was almost bite size and just not as delicious. Next time I will skip the umeshu. It was like a thimble full of the beverage in a regular sized cup. Almost comical and a total ripoff. Service was good and friendly (waitress from California was really helpful). Was thrilled that it's non-smoking. I'll be back!

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing. I had the chicken katsu and it was the best I have ever had in my life. The restaurant is small and quaint so we had to wait for about 20 minutes for a party of 3. It was definitely worth the wait. If I come back to Tokyo I will definitely come back here.
