tl;dr - food 5/5, coffee 4.75/5, ambiance 5/5.
From EZ-UP, to a counter in front of plastic-wrapped walls, to (ownership's) dream come true (I'm assuming), I've been visiting Immortal on and off since what I think was the beginning. It's a unique experience to see a neighborhood shop grow from ground up; the entire journey was truly heartening and made me entirely optimistic for whatever it is they have on the horizon.
The self described 'neighborhood vegan-ESQUE café for everybody' is so spot-on, I don't know how else to describe it. Come here for the food and drinks but stay for the vibes of inclusiveness and community. You can drown out the world with the upbeat indie grunge that's on repeat, low-key party at one of their events, and even air up your bike tires while waiting for your order.
I've yet to eat something here that I didn't like. Everything is fresh and there's typically a few seasonal items that stand out. I can't express how happy I was when I saw the tomato sandwich appear on their Instagram, I went in to get it the very next day.
The coffee great, maybe half a step below amazing. I'm VERY picky about coffee and I hate myself for it; I'd very happily make this place my daily driver if I didn't brew my own at home most days. Shout out to the espresso tonic currently on the menu, I'm not a fan of Lavender syrup but they figured out the secret to making it just right. The cafe offers pour-overs when there's no drip available and they're happy to point you in the right direction if you aren't familiar with any of their bean offerings.
I've yet to have any but Immortal also has a decent beer & wine offering with brunch on the weekends.
The retail selection is definitely curated by someone with an appreciation of quality over quantity, with maybe the exception of Proud Mary. I love Proud Mary, but they're not local and they're definitely not small. It'd be nice to see a local roaster be highlighted but maybe I'm just annoying like that. They have chocolate, knickknacks, coffee gear, and random kitchen snacks.
My ONLY real complaint - no menu on their website and no menu pinned on their Instagram.
I'm a big fan of spots that really lean into what they believe in and this is one of them. Cheers to, and may they actually be, Immortal.
