Impérial Choisy

"A genuine Chinese restaurant frequented by many local Chinese people who use it as their lunchtime canteen. Hardly surprising given the delicious Cantonese specials on offer!" - Michelin Inspector

We had high hopes for Imperial Choisy, especially with a Michelin star attached. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. • Tiny tables cramped us uncomfortably. • 50-minute wait for the food to arrive—way too long, even if the place is busy. • The food? Just okay. Certainly not bad, but nothing stood out as Michelin-worthy. Overall, I left wondering how this place earned such acclaim. It might work for others, but for me, it simply wasn’t worth it.

This restaurant serves one of the best roasted duck I had in my life, the skin is crispy and perfectly salty and the meat is juicy and tender, it’s evident why they have a Michelin star. The dim sum is also very good. I would give 5 stars but the service is lacking. This is a must go if you like Chinese food and visiting Paris.

Had dinner at Impérial Choisy and was thoroughly impressed. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the duck – incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It’s easy to see why it’s their best-seller. The quality far exceeded expectations, especially considering how affordable the prices are.

If you’ve ever tasted real Cantonese food, stay far away — this place has completely lost its soul. The flavors are all wrong, the quality has crashed, and honestly, it’s an insult to Cantonese cuisine. And the toilets? Filthy beyond belief. If that’s the state of the bathrooms, imagine the kitchen. Eat here at your own risk.

Probably one of the better roast ducks or porks in Paris but wasn't great. We travelled a long way especially, but being British we pretty consistenly get better food in London Chinatown. I think the problem is you just can't beat the duck at the Four Seasons in London, and the Cha Siu here was pretty dry...

I recommend this restaurant they make good traditional cantonese food with good service, generous portions and very reasonable prices. Their roasted duck was delicious, and the fried vegetable noodles were so good, obviously the noodles were fresh and home made. Their chicken with lemon sauce wasn’t so good, the fried chicken part was great but the lemon sauce tasted like candy, I think they went too much on the corn syrup or something made taste funny. And I think they should pay more attention for the toilets because some customers misuse them.

There is a long line at the door with a full restaurant, which is always a good sign. The food is certainly not disappointing. I have not had good Chinese food for quite some time. The food quality and authenticity of this restaurant easily beat any Chinese restaurant in the entire DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia) region. I know this at the first bite of the chicken dish, which you can tastes the real flavor of the chicken. The seafood carousel is also very good.

Like seemingly every restaurant in Paris Chinatown, this space is super tight. I ate here twice -- once for dinner and once for soup dumplings during lunch. They are apparently Bon Gourmand Michelin rated, and highly recommended by my wife's family, who've lived in the area for over 30 years. We had to eat downstairs for dinner the first visit (a lot of stairs in Paris, like everywhere) but the service was fast. The char siu pork is extremely good -- my older son, a notoriously picky eater, loved it. I also had the ginger chicken (which I think is another popular item there) and found that to be delicious too. The soup dumplings are apparently well known and I'm shocked we got a table on a Saturday (the line when we left was out the door). It was essentially the same crew from the night before, so no rest for the weary. Dumplings are super flavorful as well as the broth. I see why it's so popular. Two very good meals in Chinatown during our visit a few weeks ago. Recommend for good Chinese food.
