Took my grandson for lunch. He was saying how great it was to go to a family restaurant instead of a chain. I’m not sure why recent Yelp reviews were not great. We had a great tasty lunch, clean and good service. ( waiter answered all questions and delivered good service) just very business like which was nice.

We did take out and the food was amazing.. Good flavors. We ordered moo shu and fried rice and some spicy soup. We also gotreturn. Crab rangoon and some egg rolls, which they told me are homemade. Delicious! Will definitely retun.

I am glad to say Imperial garden in Mckinney was a smash hit. Delicious and flavorful food. The Mongolian beef was the best out of the two dishes we ordered, the triple delight was good but the Mongolian beef was amazing. The lo mien was great, worth the $6 charge to substitute.the spring rolls were nice and flavorful too. Loved the crunch. The waiter barely spoke English so it was hard to order and have him understand us, but everything came out right. He was a nice guy. I would come back again. I can see why this place is highly rated and best Chinese food I have had since I moved to Texas.

This is our family spot for a traditional Chinese restaurant meal. The place isn’t fancy but well kept. The owners are there and they take care of the place. The servers are quick and courteous. We have been there several times and service, food quality and taste have been consistent and good. We always go back!

Best Chinese food! Took me a long time to find cuisine like this! Authentic and savory! Will keep coming back!

I’ve been searching for a new place to grab Chinese and this has been the best so far. They serve pretty good portions for take out so I was pleased by this. I played it safe with my options this time. Shrimp fried rice and chicken fried rice. Definitely met the standard. My only disappointment was that my crab Rangoon lacked crab but it was still tasty. Will definitely try other options and hopefully will turn this place into my go to Chinese spot.

Went there on Wednesday April 16th to pick up my phone order, when I got there the older lady upfront asked me if I I was doing a pick up and I said yes! She looked for a minute told me it wasn’t ready yet even though they told me 10 minutes it will be ready when I placed my phone order. There was a order sitting on the counter when I got there and she looked at it and said it wasn’t mine, so I waited 3 customers we’re walk inns placing new orders and all 3 of them got there orders and walked out before I got mine. 20 minutes go by I’m still standing there and the lady is asking the cooks and asked me my name and number again. I have been staring at this food order sitting on the counter for about 20 minutes sitting on the counter and turns out it was mine. I was not happy my food was cold and I already paid. She told me she was going to refund my money and took my receipt and never refunded my 53$ so disappointed and what horrible customer service. It’s unfortunate because we love the food.

Hmm I don't understand how there prices online differs! I ordered chicken lo mein and small egg drop soup. 23 buck when it's 12 for the lo mein and 3.50 for the Egg drop soup? Yea yall need to update yalls prices online asap. Bad for the business. They lie about their prices. Don't go there. There are other places that DONT LIE about the price.

I ordered hunan chicken snd hot snd sour soup. Such great friendly service!! Chicken was so tender and sauce for my meal was very good!!

Hit or miss. Food used to be good; now it's either bland or salty, almost "watered down"...new chef, new recipe??? I miss my fave (egg foo young)

Good is always fresh and ready (to go) on time. Ingredients are good and portions a good value. Good flavor and variety of menu items. They've been at this location 20 yrs (?) so you have to believe it's at least decent. Which it is. Not gonna knock your Sox off - but good for what it tries to be.

The food was overpriced and taste bland. It was definitely not worth the money. The lady at the counter was rude and barely spoke English then got mad at me for not understanding her. I'm definitely never eating there again.

Place used to be great. Large portions and great prices and quality food. Total opposite nowadays. They even give you an attitude if you ask for something a little extra. Had so many mistakes and poor taste on last few trips. I'm done. Too many other options.

This is one of my go to spots for solo and working lunches! The lunch specials are so good and very reasonably priced. Dinner portions and prices are good as well. I've made it a point to try something different every time I go and I've not been disappointed. I love that the fried wanton crisps they give with their soup are crispy and so good! At a lot of similar restaurants these toppings are stale and not good. Here, I eat those by themselves dipped in a bit of hot mustard. Their mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, lo meins, and crab rangoons are favorites. We are also obsessed with their chili oil!

New to the area and craving Chinese, we found this place. And glad we did! Clean restaurant, quick service and huge portions. Reasonably priced. Everything we had was great!

Food was delicious!! the service was spectacular and the owner was extremely polite while assuring that my experience was pleasant.

This place has been decent over the years but in the last few years the food quality has degraded significantly, portions have grown smaller the egg drop soup is inedible and the chicken dishes use the worst quality chicken.. I'd rate the food at below average but they have continually raised prices to the point when you're paying for top quality Chinese food but getting Panda Express or less quality. I'd suggest not eating there for a while so they get the message

We had the biggest headache of our life. Here are some reviews 1. The servers don't understand what you are asking? 2. They don't know what to recommend? 3. Every small thing, you have to ask and they will bring. Zero initiative. 4. The concierge table has two -three ladies non-stop talking in a foreign language. It's okay to talk but let diners enjoy peace of mind. 5. My egg plant was $12.99 and they overcharged me. It's is so annoying for clients who want to have a quiet sit down dinner with family Once it went over my head, I called for manager and explained is when hopefully noise went down. It was a horrible experience. These people don't get it. No doubt if they could improve this would be top Resturants in McKinney. Food is delicious. But we ran away after getting our food packed as we could not withstand the noise Who will pay for the experience now.

Order elsewhere and never pay cash for your food. Always use a card. I had cash from Christmas gifts laying around and made the mistake of paying the delivery driver cash. He left, with the $80 something I was told on the phone +an 18% tip. There was an order missing, and no receipt stapled to the bag like there usually is. There was an order missing. I called the restaurant, let them know an order was missing and I would come to the restaurant and pick it up. All I can say is the good reviews on here must be very, very old. In fact some may be 15+ years and might be mine from when they first opened when they were still great. No longer the restaurant they used to be.

They charge $6 for delivery. But they don't tell you they charge $6 for delivery unless you do the math yourself and ask them what the extra $6 is for. They do not give you an itemized receipt when they deliver. I asked the delivery guy what the $6 was for and he said he didn't know but he thought it was for delivery. I asked him if it was his tip and he said "No." I called Imperial Garden to ask them what the $6 was for and they said it goes to the driver. They said the fee depends on how far away you live and they listed off neighboring cities I don't live in.... I told them I live 1 mile away.

Food was very hot, staff friendly but disappointed Schezwan Chicken was more carrots than anything, hardly any celery or sauce. Hot and sour soup very bland and flavorless.

Ordered orange chicken and steamed rice. Y'all... I'm not even kidding- as we scooped out the rice there was a whole PAPER TOWEL wadded up in the middle of the box. Why??? I was so disgusted! Took the whole thing back and the owner literally screamed at me and said I put it in there. She then cursed me and refused to refund. It was an absolute nightmare. How is this woman still in business? Stay away!

Stopped by to grab something to go and I was impressed. I got the beef and mushrooms to eat at work for later. I'm usually skeptical about ordering beef from a Chinese restaurant because most places tend to use low grade beef, but I was pleasantly surprised here. The beef was a higher grade beef and it was very tasty. I ate some and then saved the rest for later. The food was good left over a couple of days later, so it was definitely a win. I will be coming back to try some other dishes.

This had been a fairly solid, if not basic American-Chinese restaurant through the years, but customers should now beware of their shady billing practices. I ordered takeout on 07/10/22 and the bill was surprisingly $71.44. I have never had a bill that high at this restaurant so I checked for an itemized receipt when I got home, but there was none. Next, I carefully went through their online menu item by item and actually had only purchased precisely $60.00 of food. Add 8.25% tax and my purchase was actually $64.95. Where did their extra $6.49 charge come from? I immediately called the restaurant back hoping they would correct their error, but they would not. The first explanation they gave was that this was due to a CC fee. I have ordered many times from this establishment and have never been accessed a CC fee. Also, there is no disclosure of such a fee online or in the store itself. When I poo-poo'd (pun intended) that claim, they very, very quickly said that some menu items have gone up. The immediate (0.5s) timing of the second excuse is telling. I bet there was a third excuse too, but we never got to that. Their current, online menu said I purchased exactly $60 of food. They effectively robbed me of $6.49. I made my last Imperial Garden purchase on 07/10/22 & hope that you will consider my experience when choosing from the many decent American-Chinese restaurants in the McKinney, TX area. Update: I went through all of this horrible restaurant's YELP reviews and found an amazing number of one star reviews that included 3 that also mentioned being overcharged including one from 2019 where the person was given the same story as me regarding menu prices. Please, please do NOT support these people!

This is our go to spot for Chinese food. I love their 3 ingredient soup. I add lots of lemons a a little chili sauce to mine. Their general chows chicken and roasted pork fried rice is good too.

I have lived in Mckinney since 1996. I've been going to Imperial Garden since it opened. It is a Chinese restaurant that is FAMILY run. I have never eaten inside the restaurant, always takeout or delivery, the lemon butter shrimp is fantastic, it is a staple in our house. The cho cho beef appetizer and the egg foo young are also great!

First order was fulfilling on both taste and quality. Could improve on quantity especially with dinner portions. Will try again to bump up/down review based on consistency with future orders.

The owner her has a beautiful and welcoming character. I love to eat here. She always make sure she gives us extra and really shows that she values our service!

The food is so good, I am hoping they are giving better customer service to everyone but I have seen a change. They deserve a better rating. Keep up the great service.

So I know I've said everything from "I'll never be back" to preaching about the pitfalls of hot and sour soup here, but smack my butt and call me Judas because I'm betraying my words now. I had chicken set out for tonight. I had big plans for that bird. Oldest daughter threw a curve ball though when she came home and needed arts & crafts TODAY for an assignment. Really? You don't say anything until the last minute? Got to love kids. Or just be too tired to yell. So...after craft shopping the kids were hungry. So was the man-child and I've stated he LOVES this joint. Kids just wanted food, I was tired so he naturally won. My kids are freaking money suckers. The youngest is a pescatarian which just means she will find the most expensive thing on the menu and kids menus be damned! At 8 she typically costs more than the man to take to dinner, which is why I typically avoid it. There's no place around (except fast food LJS) that has grilled fish/shrimp on a kids menu. But wait....they do! That's right! On the kids menu they have "Hawaiian shrimp" which you guys know is that delicious fried shrimp drowned in sauce. The 8 year old likes GRILLED seafood (get a job) and was trying to decide on something else. The sweet lady who asked her what she wanted quickly replied "we can make just grilled shrimp and substitute it at no charge." Wait...hold the phone...No charge? That's my jam! It even came with fried rice and let me tell you, three skewers of four to five medium shrimp came and that little one INHALED it. 5.95. It doesn't include a drink, but dang, she can have mine. The older one is far less picky, ordering sweet and sour chicken and fries. She's the "chicken nugget & fries" kid God bless her. Helps balance out the little one. I got twice cooked pork and fried rice. I'll say if you are used to hibachi fried rice, skip it here. It's not that great. The pork was very tasty. I'd have taken a pic but man-child abs I shared and he inhaled it before I could snap it. We also got a large egg drop soup that all 3 of them ate (3.95) with leftovers and I got a cup of hot and sour. The hot & sour was WAY better than before and was both hot and sour thank goodness. The waitress was PHENOMENAL. She was incredible at refilling drinks and clearing plates. While I doubt I'm taking them out again until one of them gets a job, this will be a go to place for us now.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to this place!They will try and scam you and over charge your credit card! The audacity of the people who run this restaurant. I noticed several other people who reported the same thing on these reviews. The city of McKinney needs to look into the corrupt way they're over charging peoples credit cards. I'll definitely be filing a complaint/report!

Not impressive. I asked for a dish with bok choy and ended up with chicken in sauce and the sauce was bland.

Great service. It's really cute & nice inside. The energy here is very sweet, seems family owned or something. Also very good prices (a breathe of fresh air that at least they aren't raising prices super high) Thank you!

Terrible restaurant with terrible service and terrible food. Management team is awful and have no customer service what so ever. Was given $50 worth of rotten food that my dog wouldn't even eat and would not refund me. I tried to show them the food was bad and shouldn't be consumed but they still refused and treated me horribly while yelling at me to leave the restaurant. Will never go back and I hope they stop stealing money from hardworking people. This place deserves no stars and should be shut down.

Small little place with a decent size menu. Food was ok, not great. Surprised with a $4 charge for house tea. I've never paid for house tea at a Chinese restaurant in my life. Maybe a Texas thing?? Portions were smaller than in used to. Service was good.

Over priced, low quality Asian food. Proteins are awful. This place has gone downhill quickly and I threw away half of my take out. Tasted old.

1st time, would try again. Egg rolls better then most I've tried since getting here..

We've had take out and delivery several times and each time our food is packaged well and tastes great. The delivery times are usually quicker than quoted on the phone and portion size is good with enough left for a second meal. My husband loves their chicken lettuce wraps and I love to spicy eggplant. They do have table service and when I've been in to pick up food, they are always busy. This is a great go to Chinese restaurant.

The food is ALWAYS fresh! Dine in experience is a nice family atmosphere with the sweetest family running the place. Best orange chicken in town!

Mu Shoo Pork, Szechwan Chicken, fried & steamed rice, & PuPu Platter. Ordered at 6:20 on a Saturday night & I received at 7:07pm. Order was correct, food was hot, & the entrees were good. PuPu platter was okay but the Hawaiian shrimp & Cho Cho beef were not very good. The fried rice greasy. The egg rolls, chicken wings, & crab Rangoon were decent. C+

Found my new fave Chinese restaurant. I just hope they stay open. Friendly staff. Ordered to go. Legit orange chicken, good mooshoo chicken but didn't taste the smoked flavor and no hoisin sauce included. Good thing I have some at home! Lomein noodles good too. I'm giving them 3 stars as I yet have to try other dishes. At least they're nearby and they deliver

I ordered fried rice. It was okay. For fried rice, it is a little darker than what I usually get at other places. The biggest problem I have with this place is what we are charged doesn't match up to the prices on the menu plus tax. This has happened to my wife and I several times where we were overcharged. I can understand that a mistake can be made, but when it happens multiple times and I saw another post complaining about the charges, makes me wonder! Beware to others to make sure your charges are correct.

Got the duck it was flavorful but needed less fat. Hubby got the steak which enjoyed and was cooked properly he never gets pineapple with his meat. Wonton soup was also very good. Unfortunately the crab Rangoon was ALL cream cheese. I wouldn't recommend it. The peanut butter banana was delish!

Our first time ordering delivery from here. Everything was perfectly cooked. It arrived promptly, fresh and hot. The fried dumplings and Egg Foo Young were the best I've ever had. We now have a new favorite for Friday night delivery.

Over priced and over salted! It was $61 for 4 people, two of which had just plain lo mein. Then I see my card was charged $74. Food was cold and over salted. Not worth it!

This was my first time and last time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered a shrimp fried rice and had my daughter pick it up. As she was walking to the car she realized an ant was on her wrist and ants were coming from the bag. She went back inside to inform them of this and requested a return of my funds. One of the ladies came out to see proof of the dead ants and informed the owner that there were in fact ants that came from the bag. The lady started banging on the counter and yelling at my daughter saying she was causing issues by complaining about the ant. When I called to inquire about the refund and the apology for the tone used toward my daughter I was called a bitch for causing issues with their ant infested establishment.

Great quality and portions for the money. Ordered there 5+ times and it's always a great feast. We live the veggie spring rolls, crab Rangoons, pan fried dumplings, lo Mein and imperial fried rice. Yum!

This Chinese restaurant has been in McKinney for a number of years and always has people eating in it. If it were very bad, it would be out of business by now. I have eaten there several times, and my assessment is that the food is not better or worse than in other Chinese places in the area. However, dishes vary in quality. I have the impression that they like to cut corners whenever they can. Some of the meat dishes carry very little meat and they replace it with more vegetables which is not a bad idea, but they used a lot of the frozen kind. The wonton soup is one example, the dumplings in it, seem to have been previously frozen, because they feel old are absolutely tasteless. They also throw in the wonton soup, a few frozen tinny shrimps with frozen cut-vegetables. The wonton broth wasn't too sweet or too salty, which I would call it neutral. I eat there only as an emergency. However, I would't mind paying more if they would use fresh ingredients instead of frozen stuff. I'm sure, that the quality of the food would go up and could eat there every day.

I've grown up here in McKinney off of Eldorado and I've grown up with Imperial Garden being my tried and true Chinese food place. I have introduced several friends to this restaurant and they've become loyal customers! Always delicious and the delivery is a life saver!

Been coming here since I was a kid, 20 years or so, and tonight, they screwed up our order for probably the dozenth time. I had to of course drive back, and they had the audacity to charge me for their mistake. They said they under charged me, and tried to blame it on me, when I ordered exactly what the item on the menu is named. SO over this place, their quality keeps going down over the years and their decor is also atrocious.

This place just falls flat on all expectations. For starters, the vegetable spring rolls are literally the size of your thumb with a heavy batter. The crab rangoons had zero crab. Some places you can search and find a hint of crab. Zilch, zippo, zero crab. They were all cream cheese, which was very little and a stale wonton wrappers. Worst I've had in a long time. I had to ask for white meat for our entrees. We got the orange chicken which had orange rind chunks all throughout instead of zest. It made the dish very unenjoyable and difficult to eat. Zero veggies. We also got the General's chicken which they said was General Tao's chicken. I'm here to tell you it's not. We don't know what it was but the sauce was inedible and the chicken was tough. Needless to say $50 was way overpriced for the quality and we threw all leftovers away.

We order carry out and delivery from here frequently. The front staff takes our order very carefully and courteously. The kitchen staff is well organized, quick and have never made an error on our orders. The food is very good. Our favorites: vegetable soup, spring rolls, vegetable deluxe in brown sauce, sweet/sour chicken and many more. When we dine in, we enjoy the pu pu platter, too. Excellent delivery service.
