Imperial Hotel & Restaurant

We stayed at the dog friendly cottages owned by the Imperial Hotel. They deserve 6 stars out of 5 for hospitality. The manager, Alyssa, was great about returning phone calls and sent emails when we had trouble connecting before our arrival. There was no one in the biggest cottage so she upgraded us without cost. The location is near Knight foundry, which is why we wanted to visit the area. We visited the main hotel for a peek around. The restaurant and bar were closed for a January break. The building itself was a historic brick building with 2 floors. The accommodation was fabulous. Comfy king bed, good in room coffee with actual cream in the little cups, a huge jacuzzi tub for 2 (See 70 lb dog for scale) and a little gas fireplace for a heater. There was a living room area with a couch and coffee table, and house plants in every room. The entryway offered a stand with umbrellas to borrow in case of rain. There is a grassy yard with a low fence so your pup can romp as long as it isn't a jumper, and they provided a dog bed suitable for a small to medium dog. There was a dog bowl, which was great because I forgot to bring one, and a jar with a dog cookie in it. Alyssa left a welcome note for us in the room, and a few nice perks as well. In short, thoughtful details everywhere.

First of all, Alyssa and Raven the bartenders make amazing craft cocktails! Came from Sacramento and they made the best Paloma! Super fun people and make the experience enjoyable. Love the small town feel and cozy atmosphere. Nice to be to a great place and relax and just breath

We absolutely lived our stay at The Imperial. We were taken on a tour to choose from the available rooms. When our room’s AC unit became noisy, the staff quickly relocated us to another room , a more expensive room, at the less expensive rate. The rooms are so well appointed, quite lovely. Our dinner was exceptional, also our service. Later that night, and also the next morning, we enjoyed sitting in the balcony, (while sipping in tea / coffee and reading Nancy Drew).

We stayed at The Imperial Hotel for our one-year anniversary, and it was the perfect spot. We were in the Golden Room and absolutely adored it — the quality of the sheets, the cleanliness, and even the shower shampoo and other offerings were all top-notch. The bar and restaurant downstairs were outstanding — seriously delicious food and great vibes. We will definitely be back! The only small feedback we have is that at times, we weren’t sure where to check in or who to ask if we needed something. A little more clear info at check-in would’ve been helpful. But overall, we had such a lovely stay and highly recommend it.

We had an outstanding stay at the Imperial Hotel. The hotel has been beautifully and tastefully rennovated. We stayed in the Theodore Cottage which was well appointed, large and very comfortable. The dinner at the hotel restaurant was top notch, San Francisco quality dining. Excellent cocktails and local wine list. The breakfast was excellent with very flaky croissants that as good as being in France. Very friendly staff. We highly recommend the Imperial Hotel to visitors to Amador County.

This historic hotel is amazing! So much history and cool architecture. They had warm croissants and fruit in the morning!

Had a great time at this historic hotel. The beds are very comfortable and the location is so quant. We also loved the coffee in the morning, along with the freshly baked croissants!

We booked this place because the photos online looked really cute and 100% was the right choice. The rooms were clean, air conditioned and modern feeling but with a historical twist that makes this place feel like you have taken a step back in to the gold mining era. 1000% would come back!

I came here with my best friend and her daughter last night because I have never been in there before (I currently live in Amador County). It was really cute and quaint, the ambiance gave me historic vibes and I loved it!! We sat inside cuz of how cold it was outside. I ordered 2 drinks for myself, the chips (so amazing with the sauce/dip) and the grilled cheese sandwich (not too shabby). There wasn't many options for food but found that they keep it very limited due to the hours of operation. So that cleared it up. What I found very interesting was that we had to order at the bar for our food and drinks. Even though there was a server and a bartender, so I found it very odd. But they did bring our food and drinks to us so that was nice! For all of the things I ordered it came out to like $43. To me, a bit steep for just myself only but what can I expect haha. Will def bring my family back here again though!

First of all, the restaurant/hotel is a historic building. That's what drew us to it after our Bunker Hill hike. It's such a beautiful hotel. Super friendly staff. We sat outside on a crisp, sunny day. There are heaters if needed. Our food came out in a timely manner. It was all delicious!! We observed everyone else's food coming out and it all looked great! Next time we hike we will stop there again for a well deserved lunch!

We just made a quick stop into here for dessert and drinks after getting dinner across the way. The service was efficient and so friendly! They were happy to make recommendations and made it a great atmosphere. The place is cute and a bit small but makes for a great date spot or a catch up with friends. The drinks were good and pretty strong! Overall we'll go back (especially for dessert) and hope to stay in the hotel next time too for the full experience!

On Friday 3/21/25 we visited this lovely restaurant with family and friends. The special of pork cheeks and polenta was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the risotto was long grain rice with veggies, not creamy and not risotto. Our server "Angelique" from Finland was an absolute gem. So sweet and prompt and helpful. The risotto was taken off bill. Also get the bread with tapenade very tasty.

Had brunch here with a group or friends. The food was great, and the portions were plentiful. I highly recommend their lemon poppyseed pancakes. Probably the best pancakes I've ever had. They also have a savory pancake with bacon, which was part of the group order. Also super tasty. The only drawback from this experience was how long it took for our food to arrive while the place wasn't super packed. Maybe being a large group explains it. Anyway highly recommend.

Imperial Hotel has been on my radar since I heard about its renovation, and I am so thrilled I finally was able to dine at the restaurant! It was amazing. We visited on a rainy Saturday night and were able to park in their small lot. Imperial is positioned at the curve of the road, so there is a storybook view of the town all lit up with warm string lights, even in February. The hostess welcomed us and quickly seated us in the dining room, which was decorated beautifully and with moody candlelight. Every table had fresh-cut magenta tulips. We ordered: chicken croquettes (starter), clam chowder, and Mary's chicken & seafood risotto (mains). Everything was impressively presented and delicious. We both were glad we opted for the bowl rather than cup of chowder as it was the BEST we had ever had--the ideal consistency (not too thick) and seasoned to perfection. We both had to remember where we were because we were close to licking the bowl! I thought the croquettes were good but pricy for what they were and the amount (4 for $21), but the slaw that accompanied was excellent. The entrees were both phenomenal. The chicken quarter was one of the most white, tender and juicy, and flavorful ones we have had. The fingerling potatoes were crisp, broccolini was done just right, and the gravy/jus set the whole thing off. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous serving of my seafood risotto! I love salt, but it might be a little too salty for others. For the price, I also wish it had a little more seafood. All criticisms aside, I took a small portion home and immediately ate it before it could even see the fridge! We were too full for dessert. Service was also very attentive. I really enjoyed this restaurant. It is beautiful, interesting, and cozy, and I loved all the thoughtful, quirky decor. The theme of the food was well-seasoned and flavorful--the folks in the kitchen definitely know what the heck they are doing. I can't wait to come back in late spring or summer--I want to sit on their patio and enjoy some new seasonal fare.

While on a wine-tasting getaway with our puppy we decided to stop by the Imperial without reservations - the hostess was extremely accommodating and seated us on the front patio at a communal table that allowed us to have our puppy in a stroller. Service was great and our waitress amazing. We booked a reservation for the following night to dine fr the full menu and although we were not able to sit on the front patio we were given a beautiful spot on the back terrace. Food and service excellent and Charlie was treated like a king.

A little charming gem in Amador City you must go to! It's such a cute and inviting venue you will appreciate. Sharing a few dishes is recommended so you can try different unique dishes prepared fresh and delicious. The staff is so friendly and courteous, you will feel right at home. This is the cozy romantic getaway you have been searching for, or just a fun brunch with your friends. Highly recommend!

This quaint little hotel boasts a delicious restaurant in Amador City (the smallest city in CA). Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We went for a little weekend getaway and stayed in the hotel. The staff is very friendly and was accommodating to my food allergy. The wine list is fantastic and their cocktails looked great. I highly recommend the polenta fries, steak bites, and the arugula salad. The ambience blends is noteworthy blending late 1800s with modern touches. There was also a nice blend of locals and folks passing through.

We stayed for a night at the hotel, so it was very convenient to be able to rest up after a day of wine tasting and walk downstairs to have dinner at the beautiful restaurant. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. - Roasted beet salad: an excellent start to dinner. - Mediterranean mussels: the broth was so delicious that we ordered more bread to soak up all that yummy goodness. - Pork cheek: the meat is salty by nature, but having the whipped potato to cut that was great.

I love the floral aesthetic at the bar. The atmosphere is very light and comfortable here. I ordered the "Me So Honey" cocktail with Four Roses Bourbon, miso honey syrup, lemon juice and orange bitters. It came out with a dried citrus garnish, and tasted delicious. I would definitely recommend, and can't wait to try more cocktails on the menu.

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent setting. We had a lovely dinner. We arrived early and sat outside for some unique, delicious cocktails. I had the gin martini with some very interesting additions and my husband had the Dandelion rum drink, also delicious. With that we had the special ahi sashimi appetizer with mango salsa, won ton chips and Ponzu sauce. Very tasty. We decided to stay outside for our dinner because it was gorgeous out there. We next had the Avocado, rock shrimp salad, very good, the scallops with fennel and Romesco sauce-which we found overpowered the delicate, perfectly cooked scallop a bit. We also had the pork cheeks with crispy vegetables and an interesting sauce that reminded us of fancy BBQ. Very tasty. Oh! I almost forgot. The clam chowder. OUT OF THIS WORLD. Soooo good. Creamy, without being heavy, just the right amount of bacon, andParmesan on top! Who knew! We finished with the yuzu curd topped with fresh berries and meringue shards. Perfect, our lovely bar manager Sarah gave us a delightful birthday espresso martini. Perfect end, to a perfect meal. Thank you!!!

The restaurant at the Imperial is a must whether you're visiting from out of town or are a local. We're local and come here regularly. We were actually just in for dinner a few days ago when we had family in town (this was the first place we wanted to take them to). And for the record, we have zero affiliation with the hotel or anyone that works there. This place is deserving of this review. Simple as that. My wife and I are from bigger cities and are well traveled. We both agree that the food and service here is on par with the nicest of restaurants in any city (but with small-town charm). The Chef (a legit chef, not just a cook) I believe previously worked back East in the Hamptons. We're pretty particular and have always found everyone here to be very accommodating. The service has always been great and the manager (Kate) is exceptional. The atmosphere is tough to beat whether sitting inside or outside. The parking is easy...... the experience overall is top notch. So long story short, if you haven't been, you're missing out. This place is great.

Total bummer to pop by on a Sunday at 6:27 for dinner and find the restaurant closed when the hours posted were until 8pm. We got a gift card at the Amador County Fair and were looking forward to it (and drove 45 minutes out here). Hopefully someone will ensure they update their hours in the future, especially because people were eating on the patio when we drove by around 6:00.

Dinner was spectacular! Situated in a quaint town, the hotel has thought about every detail. We decided to have dinner here on our first night and it did not disappoint. Staff is friendly and there is zero rush to place your order. They coursed it out perfectly. Considering going tonight

Made the mistake of going here for Sunday brunch last week. HUGE $150 mistake! Unbelievable it took over 2.5 hours to serve just the two of us our very mediocre overpriced meal! That's right, not a typo, TWO and ONE HALF HOURS! Also had to laugh at the item on the menu they try to pass off as an egg Benedict, when it was merely a poached egg on toast with bacon bits and a teaspoon drizzle of some kind of hollandaise sauce. Never will dine at this restaurant again, much better options available in Sutter Creek and Jackson.

We've eaten here multiple times over the few months. Always exceptional. Great spot for drinks, dinner, or brunch. Service was excellent as well.

Incredible food - seemingly simple, but with top-notch ingredients and attention to detail. The flavors, colors and presentation are stellar. Friendly and welcoming service from everyone that goes the extra mile every time. And such a delightful Old West-flavored atmosphere with beautiful brick walls, wood floors, period artwork and a great bar. Love the ambiance here. Can't wait for our next visit!

This was an excellent meal, and every staff member was so friendly and knowledgeable! We had a great dinner with friends, amazing food and drinks. The vibes are immaculate in this entire hotel, and the restaurant is no different. If it's not too hot, the back patio is so dreamy.

This town, hotel , and restaurant are little hidden gems that most people probably know little of. I highly recommend a trip to Amador City with a stop at the Imperial Hotel for dinner. If you're from out of town you may want to stay! It's beautiful in the area. They serve great cocktails with a nice menu!

Upscale menu with small town manners. One of our favorites. The service is amazing. Amador City is a gem in Gold Country and the Imperial Hotel is in the heart of it.

Beautiful food, amazingly prepared and presented! We were there for brunch and desert. Excellent, professional service. My only quibble is the $16 glass of chardonnay - it was worth every penny, but I would have preferred a choice of something less expensive. Worth the drive from Placerville.

The Imperial is beautiful and so are the back gardens. The new owners and staff are delightful, friendly and accommodating. I miss the homestyle menu and local ambiance. It has become an upscale, gourmet dining experience unusual to this area. I wish them well in this new endeavor.

Another fantastic meal at the Imperial Hotel. Exceptional and attentive service that took all of my complex allergy needs into consideration and made the most incredibly delicious, fresh, beautifully presented, 3 course feast! I can not rave enough about this place. We sat out front and it was still comfortable even on a warm summer day. A perfect destination for amazing food! I think my favorite (of all 3 outstanding dishes) was the cod and potato croquettes from the bar menu (pictured) while my partner really enjoyed the smoked rockfish!

Wanted to update my review because the manager of the restaurant reached out to me regarding this situation and it has been addressed and made right. I really would recommend the restaurant and still do not condone Rosie's behavior but I hope that she will take this experience and grow from it. The rest of the staff that we interacted with were very kind. Overall I would recommend Imperial Hotel Restaurant and would go again for the food, drinks, and overall ambiance.

My wife and I came here on our anniversary, and it did not disappoint! Great food... and even better service. Don't miss this place! We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful evening.

I had dinner there on a Friday alone, I ordered a Oxtail Pie, an uncommon dish in these parts, it was tender flavorful and savory and the sauce was spiced just right. Then visited again on a Wednesday when they have the "Neighborhood casual fare + live music" the music was great and the fun neighborly atmosphere was wonderful, but the food is "casual" I had the corn dog, and I am sure they tried to do something special but it was so-so. That being said, the chef prepared a great dessert for us and we left happy.

The highest quality of dining found anywhere in the area. From the cocktails to desserts, the appetizers and main courses, the quality of ingredients and skill of preparation are incomparable. Service is attentive and knowledgeable. The historic building has been lovingly upgraded while maintaining the romantic atmosphere. Most recent dishes enjoyed were a Dungeness crab cocktail with perfectly fresh crab, "Mary's Chicken" with a strip of crispy skin and chicken that literally melted in your mouth, the tastiest spinach we've ever had, and a Creme Brûlée Cheesecake with blueberries. If there is someone you really want to impress, this is the place to go.

My wife was so excited to try this place! Unfortunately, our experience started out rough and only improved with our food. Bartender Rose was rude, unpleasant and hostile to us (and to her coworkers)! We decided to move from the bar to a table in an attempt to salvage our evening. The food was great, there's no denying it. However we could not recommend this place, we were left with a sour taste.

Wonderful food and service during a delightful evening! We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, attentiveness, and especially the excellent food! We will be back soon!

Very nice ambiance, excellent and original dishes. Pleasant and attentive wait staff. A bit on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for. I felt it was worth it and I will be back again.

Our Mother's Day experience was one of the best ever! The food was fabulous! All six of us loved our food and with so much to choose from we had quite a mix of their offerings. The ambiance is always a draw and our server was fun and very helpful and knowledgeable. My granddaughter is vegan and he arranged special courses for her with the chef. We look forward to many more special times at The Imperial Adell

Our dinner was amazing, my mother is still talking about the cream puffs we had for dessert.

First, the people who greet you and serve you are warm and very open to sharing time with you, especially our waiter, Richard. This is a restaurant where you can create many courses because the appetizers are so good and generous. The food is prepared creatively and beautifully with lively flavors that have long tails so your mouth enjoys what excites your eyes. My main course of steak exploded with flavor yet had an easy to chew texture--delightful. We shared a light dessert of Citrus Curd along with wonderful tea. Thank you!

I recommend the tasting menu for dinner We ate here because Taste didn't have a good time available, and it was a serendipitous decision. The dishes were delicious and creative, combining elements you wouldn't expect. I wish I could eat here every weekend. Brunch is good, too; I recommend the savory potato pancakes with bacon, scallions, and cheddar.

Wonderful dinner in a unique old hotel in Amador City. The service was excellent and the food was great! The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the pork cheek with vegetables was amazing! We had a very enjoyable dining experience before going to a show at the Sutter Creek Theater.

Imperial Hotel Restaurant got everything just right. I love the location too. The attention to details was evident from the simple flower arrangements, to the small menu, to the rustic tables and chairs yet elegant, to the background music, to the enchanting patio, to the amazing food. The person who sat us and our server were friendly and professional and not overbearing. We started our breakfast with French pressed coffee which was piping hot (sometimes not the case with French press) and my decaf was as delicious as the regular. My partner go the eggs Benedict with crab, and I got the Cali one which was spinach and side of fingerling potatoes, which were seasoned and cooked perfectly--no need for ketchup. They used a bearnaise instead of hollandaise--Lighter and tangier. It was not inexpensive, but considering the quality of everything, well worth it. We plan to go back and try dinner.

Nice service, food was good. The menu and overall vibe don't seem to fit the area. Disappointing to be in a wine region and to have so little local wines on the menu. Not a single Amador wine available by the glass. Seems like a miss.

Food was ok. Good food does not have to be over dramatic or hip. Service really really really slow. Had to ask for basics repeatedly. Tried to make reservations online-they won't take reservations by phone- but one can't make a reservation online without signing up for notifications from the business. Ugg. We miss the commitment to simply elegant delicious food served by local people.

Our family has come here multiple times throughout the year. The food has always been wonderful! We have never had a bad experience with our food, service, or servers! Until tonight.... We came from a new restaurant nearby and figured to just stop by imperial hotel to get a drink before we head home. (We were all sober & were there for maybe 20-30mins) However, Rosie or Rose was extremely rude.(she has red hair, peacock earrings).First came outside, didn't greet us and gave us attitude right off the bat. It started raining so we were under the cover. This is the second interaction where she was rude, she said "to not lean against the window and that people don't want bums in their faces." The people we were with, were in fact not leaning against the window... it's common sense and courtesy... The table inside also isn't that close to the window. After that we left because she completely ruined the vibe and experience. As someone who is younger and has worked as a sever I'm genuinely embarrassed. Working in a top dollar restaurant and your attitude seemed like something I'd expect from a Taco Bell worker.
