The 23 Best Deals for Houston Restaurant Weeks 2023

" The Deal: Three-course dinner at $39 per person. Two-course lunch at $25 per person. Why We Like It: Everything at the Vietnamese restaurant Dinette in The Heights is fantastic, so choosing between a few dishes on a regular day is like trying to solve multiple differential math equations (again, we do not do math). But this HRW menu gives you what you want: three courses of all savory food for only $39. Catch us at the bar with a tiki cocktail at least once a week." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Lovely family owned and operated business! I love how it’s in the Galleria area but away from all the heavy traffic! It’s located in between different units in a small plaza but well worth the value! You self serve your own utensils and water but the location and prices are amazing! I ordered the “IDK pho bowl” $13.88, firecracker shrimp $8, and Strawberry Tea with Jelly $6! I’d come back to dine in for lunch again!

Google
Fast and casual food. Grilled pork banh mi was one of the better if not best I've had. The meat was very flavorful and tender. Shrimp spring rolls are good as well. I plan on going back when in the area again.

Never knew this place was here, I was definitely craving some soup. Service was fast, the place is small but there is seating inside and outside. I do wish they had more spice options! But food was flavorful and fresh.

Google
So the pork banh mi is excellent - as good as you will find in a city with excellent banh mi sandwiches, but the fries may be the best in Houston, which was a big surprise. Great little spot.

Google
I rate Viet places by the quality of their Pho. And this place is decent - but not great. Meatballs were were chewy and overcooked. Brisket was not tender. Good for a quick lunch. Fair prices. But if you’re looking for a delicious Pho - this is not it.

Google
We just visited here today, before they close 20min later. We called to order our food first for not to be late n onwer is so friendly. We tried fried rice, pho and french fries with grilled meat. Everything was delicious!! Specially I love their homemade Chili Oil!! Happy to having here at my neighborhood🥰

Google
Good food, have been here many times. Friendly and consistent service. Their signature "IDK Fries" are in one attached picture, which are really good. Also the Pork and Rice if you're looking for something a little more sensible.Try the Thai tea, too!

Google
A lovely, unassuming mom-and-pop shop! I’m so glad I live nearby the area. This is my go-to spot for a hearty bite(or for hangovers). The pho broth is clear, aromatic, and savory yet light. The banh mi has great flavor. Prices are reasonable, especially given the area. Some people have stated they’re skimping on portions, but I haven’t encountered that. I’ve never left without a happy sigh and a lil’ food baby. Imo, the portions are pretty big! The ambiance is low-key and relaxed. There are self-serve sauces that you can grab to your heart’s content! There’s also a supremely large fish tank… I don’t typically pay much attention to fish tanks, but this one was quite stellar!

Yelp
First time at In D Kitchen. The Food and portions was great, really enjoyed the dishes!

Yelp
Love it! The soft spring rolls are made to order which makes them so fresh. I had the chicken. I also had the pork Banh Mi. Served in a pillowy warm baguette with the perfect amount of crunch to the crusty exterior and plenty of food for anyone. Service was quick, order at the counter, sit down and they bring it to you. Price was average for this type of eatery in this locale. All in all it's 4 solid stars for sure. Enjoy.

Yelp
Love the pho and pork spring rolls here! Usually go on lunch time and they are so quick with the order so very convenient and the workers are so nice. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing pho. Some of the best in Houston! The egg rolls are really good too! Service is fantastic as well. The atmosphere is mediocre but honestly I usually just get take out. Will be back many times!!

Yelp
In the heart of the Galleria, this Vietnamese restaurant offers a flavorful menu that captures the essence of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. While the food is undoubtedly tasty, there's noticeable room for improvement in flavor consistency and presentation. The customer service is decent but could be more attentive to elevate the overall dining experience to match the vibrant dishes they serve.
google avatar

Fazley R.

Yelp
Tasty Vietnamese food done with ordinary fare, no surprises or crazy fusion happening here. The bang mi sandwiches are tasty and the pho is also worth a try. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Clean pho restaurant. Kind of hidden on the streets, didn't try the pho the day I went unfortunately. Tried their grilled chicken platter - but it seem sort of basic and on the pricier side. But understandable because it's in the Galleria area.

David T.

Yelp
This small family-run, restaurant is enclosed in a Residential neighborhood, and it is pretty good. Is my place to go when craving Vietnamese food. My favorites are the Pho and the pork sandwich. You order on the counter and food is brought to your table, a lot of business people at lunchtime, The service is fast and food like I said before pretty good.

Karen C.

Yelp
Tasty little neighborhood place with great banh mis. On a quiet side street near the Galleria, it is unassuming and pleasant. Try the different Vietnamese condiments on your sandwich. Quick friendly service! Plan to go back again to try something else

Andy N Teo H.

Yelp
Too expensive bánh mì, one bánh mì for $9 .chicken lemongrass ta tế like curry chicken,, not lemongrass . Spring roll with shrimp , old shrimp smell bad

Yelp
Great spot to get Viet food in the Galleria. I like coming here for lunch when I worked in the area. It's located in a small strip plaza with a few parking spots out in the front. The interior is a bit small but you can manage to find a seat or if you just want to do to-go. During lunch time, it does get busy as people who work in area come here often. The pho is a bit Americanized but, nonetheless, still good. They have great portion for their pho. The broth is flavorful. Services are quick and friendly.
google avatar

Germanie J.

Yelp
It's a decent spot! Ordered pho the first time and it was pretty good. Dumplings are deeelish! Second time I ordered the chicken fried rice. The chicken seemed old and had an odd flavor. I picked out all the chicken and just ate the rice. Meh, it's an okay spot!
google avatar

Yelp
My go to lunch spot Always fast, clean, and food is always spot on! It's hard to say my favorite bc everything is solid. Try it all!
google avatar

Yelp
I've ordered here twice now. Love it! Price: you get big servings for the costs, lasts me a few meals. Food: special fried rice with meat, pork, chicken, shrimp, scallions, peas and carrots is good but dry needs pineapple. Gyoza is delish but a little salty as they put a seasoning on the outside and the dipping sauce is salty. Just need to eat them plain or brush off the salt and dip delish! Shrimp spring roll is fresh big and the peanut sauce is perfect. Chicken salad is awesome!!! Thai iced tea is a little more watery than normal but still good. Delivery: I've only done delivery. Hot and fresh every time. And fast!!!!
google avatar

Trinity W.

Yelp
I come here quite often for the beef vermicelli and mini shrimp egg rolls. It's always delicious and the people are kind. I've also tried the other egg rolls, dumplings, firecracker shrimp, spring rolls, and strawberry smoothie. All delicious; I'm sure I'll try the whole menu at some point. They also have milk tea, and an adorable octopus in their fish tank.

Yelp
Not sure why or how this place has such high reviews. The pho is not authentic and it was disappointing. Will not be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
On entering there were several tables that still had plates on them so it looked a bit unkept. They have a great menu full of options they even have boba tea. Order 2 bowls of Pho Chicken wings Dumplings 2 Vietnamese coffees 2.5/5 The Pho: broth on its own without adding accoutrements was rather bland no true flavor. We added The different sauce herbs and vegetables to give it flavor. And then it was good. The portion was good big bowl but the noodles over cooked 4/5Chicken wings : well cooked well seasoned hot and fresh definitely recommend. 2/5 Dumplings these are obviously frozen then prepared not handmade something you can buy from the grocery store and they were overcooked. 3/5 Vietnamese Coffee : The coffee quality itself could've been better wasn't as creamy as a Vietnamese coffee normally is but I did have the right amount of sweetness.

Dee B.

Yelp
This is a very well hidden gem! The spring rolls are fresh and flavorful. The IDK Special soup is delicious. The price is not too high and for the quality of the food, it's worth it.

Stephen K.

Yelp
Pop and son establishment in a nondescript tiny strip center. Checks all the boxes on standard Vietnamese fare. Excellent pho, spring rolls and grilled meats. Reasonably priced and clean, friendly atmosphere. Definition of an excellent hole in the wall

Tristan M.

Yelp
Great pho (though my wife says it's too "cinnamonny."). I think it's wonderful. The sandwiches are pretty good to. But the fries!! I would not think a Vietnamese place would have good fries... and who would order them anyway? But they are amazing with Vietnamese sauce, meat and a fried egg on them!

Kelsy A.

Yelp
We had an online order and came in to pick it up within the timeframe. They said that they never received it. I was already charged by Grub Hub. So now we had to wait for the food to be done and no sense of spending the extra on Grub Hub (it's cheaper if you order in the store). The food was overly salty and not good quality compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. The egg roll was squishy and tasted frozen. The meat quality is low. It's chopped up small pieces of meat. Wish I could get my money back and won't plan on returning here ever again.
google avatar

Fred S.

Yelp
Not much to report here. A chicken and rice dish that was fine, not something I would make a return trip for. The spring rolls were great and so was the sauce, a nice little side dish. No iced tea here. It was not bad just not remarkable.
google avatar

Vannesa R.

Yelp
Pork bahn mi with a fried egg on top was so good! Egg roll was good , season fries delicious. Will definitely be back for that sandwich

Yelp
Saw this place on Yelp some time ago and thought about trying, but never did. Finally decided to visit for lunch. It's located in a small community in the Galleria area. Very clean and contemporary decor. The staff was very nice and patient as I contemplated on what to order. I finally decided on the IDK Pho Special. It consisted of shrimp, steak, brisket, and meatballs. I've never been a huge fan of meatballs, but figured I'd still give it a try. I ordered to dine in and only waited a few minutes for order. I gave three stars because the pho just wasn't hot enough for me and not as savory as I'm used to. The meatballs were not good (mostly because I'm just not a big fan of them). I probably would not try the pho again, but I definitely plan to give their banh mi and spring rolls a try.

Yelp
Love this place! I'm lucky my office is only a short walk away. Very good service, food comes out quick. And the Vietnamese food is very good here. Quality here is just as good as you can find in Bellaire. Fries were surprisingly terrific and served with a spicy aioli that works well together. Recommend getting your meal with a Thai green tea. You can't really beat the prices along with the quality of the meal from this place compared to other ethnic restaurants in the galleria area.

Mark C.

Yelp
Just had an amazing Banh Mi here. Pork was perfect and maybe the best bread I've ever had for a Banh Mi in Houston.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
So happy to have more great options outside of Chinatown when you're craving good Vietnamese food. The restaurant has limited seating, but I noticed most people were ordering to-go. Free barley tea when you dine in. Ordering is also simplified which I appreciate- you only have to decide the base and protein instead of reading through the entire menu and list of ingredients to find the exact pho you want. Selection is limited though if you're picky on what meat parts are included in your pho and there's only one size. We ordered the pho which I enjoyed. The broth is flavorful with the spices and the portion size is good. Also ordered the pork rice combination plate which was good. The pork wasn't dry or overcooked and still very flavorful. Sauce is also more salty and not the sour kind. In summary: flavor and price are on point but the menu selection is limited, which is why I took off a star.

Yelp
I have been here multiple times for lunch break with my colleagues and it seemed fine. Last time I ordered pho and find a cockroach in my food. Never going there again?
google avatar

Yelp
I used to come to this location when it was a burger joint. I was sorry to see the place close down but very happy with the replacement. IDK stepped in, gutted & remodeled. The place looks modern & they kept the order counter in the same place as it was before & replaced the tile, tables & painted. Looks pretty good. I love, love the aquarium by the counter, tons to looks at (the tiny starfish are totes adorbs!). The menu offers the usual Vietnamese: pho, spring rolls, bahn mi, vermicelli & rice dishes. For this go round I opted for the bbq pork vbowl & was not disappointed! Nice ratio of noodles to meat to veggies. The pork was excellent & tender (can't wait to try the bahn mi). The service is fast, efficient & friendly. Definitely gonna put this place on my lunch rotation.

Yelp
Eh. I thought all afternoon about what to rate this place. I couldn't say two stars because they were nice, but the food was bland so couldn't go more than three stars. 3 1/2 We visited during lunch. Parking sucks so we parked in the street. The guy took our order quickly. It seems like a clean and hipster place. My friend gig beef noodles and I got chicken fried rice. We also got egg rolls, which were actually pretty yummy. The food was super bland, though. I thought it was just mine so my friend and I tasted each other's food and it was bland also. It just didn't taste like flavors were cooked together. Like all ingredients are cooked separate then combined based on desired dish, if that makes sense Just not our cup of tea. I think if you're a tofu lover you might like it here, the vegan cool dude next to us was just savoring his food.
google avatar

Stacy M.

Yelp
Found curly, long, PUBIC HAIR in my food!!! Watch what you eat here. Also found insect legs in my food. Almost threw up in my mouth. Wondering if I ate public hair now.... Back door also is propped wide open - this is an invitation for rodents and insects and flies to devour food in kitchen and prep area. Disgusting. Never again. Lost my appetite. Not clean place to eat- unless you want to find black pubic hair in your food.
google avatar

Timothy C.

Yelp
I always get the chicken fried rice from here. It is super fast and not overly pricey. If your looking for a snack or a quick dinner this would be your spot. It does have a few tables on the inside and a fish tank to stare at. I always get mine to go. There is a lady that I always see that works the counter. She is always pleasant and does offer a little chit chat. Give it a shot sometime.
google avatar

Garrett R.

Yelp
Came here to try out a new spot that many have been telling me to try. Ordered the Pork Bahn Mi with seasoned fries on the side. Took a very long time to get the meal, and once I had it - it tasted bland to me. Not much flavor in the pork and overall just okay. Atmosphere is a perfectly-sized hole in the wall. I like the small, intimate feel and the overall vibe was good, food was just lacking flavor for my taste. Might come back and try something different like a rice plate. Maybe just got the wrong thing?
google avatar

Gilberto V.

Yelp
Brilliantly mediocre. The price is exorbitant in comparison to similar foods served all around the city and let's be fair - you can get better for less at establishments not too far away. That being said, the saving grace here is Bo Luc Lac - though one dish does not a couple of stars merit. The biggest reason for the two stars is that they have super friendly staff that are perhaps the nicest people on God's green earth. I literally have nothing remotely negative to say about them. However, after giving this place multiple tries, the Pho is highly inconsistent. Sometimes, there is so little beef that I am poking around with chop sticks like a mad man trying to frack in a West Texas oil field and coming up dry. Other times, there is so much beef there is no noodles, and then yet again on another occasion too much broth and not. Much. Else. You cannot have Pho on the menu and be this grossly inconsistent. You just can't. Granted that the broth is delicious, and you serve with a smile, the fact is that the high degree of mediocrity in everything else, plus a lack of being consistent docks three stars. I wish I had better things to say about In D Kitchen, but it is what it is and I hope they focus on rising above because if the Bo Luc Lac is any indication, they can get things right in a great way. But you cannot have Pho on the menu in Houston, Texas and not care about keeping it real each and every single time.
google avatar

Jack H.

Yelp
Pho is probably one of the hardest dishes to review in a city like Houston, yet the pursuit for the perfect broth must go on! D Kitchen is overall 4.5 stars. The price is just right. In fact, it's hard to find good Bo Luc Lac for $10. The pho costs a little more than the usual self-serve Viet joint, but the broth is spot on and the noodles are just the right softness. However the beef (Bo Luc Lac) and the brisket (pho) are not of the highest quality compared other competitive pho places. Still really good for the price. Nevertheless, the grilled pork Banh Mi did not live up to its hype. There was actually too much pork placed in the sandwich which threw off the balance (counterintuitive, I know). The pate was also too gamy and overwhelming (fries were good though). Overall, the biggest highlight of this place is its value. Def worth coming back! Side note: the bathrooms, though clean, are awkwardly designed. Anyone with OCD probably would lose sleep thinking about it, but it doesn't effect the review in any way.
google avatar

Holly H.

Yelp
Fresh food, fast service, and relaxing environment. For appetizers we had the fried dumplings and bbq beef spring rolls. For my entree I got a grilled chicken bahn mi, my husband had the vermicelli with bbq pork and tofu and we both shared the idk fries. Everything was great!

Linh T.

Yelp
Food offerings are solid from appetizers, sandwiches, rice plates to pho. Last visit I had pho with meatballs and really enjoyed it. The meat portion in the noodle soup was substantial.
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
My mom brought me a Vietnamese sandwich from here it was really really good. So I decided to go and try a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork I must say I've had a lot of vermicelli bowls before but this is by far the best one. It so different because most of the time I have it the noodles are really cold and stuck together like a ball and I have to rip them apart. This place cooks the noddles lightly with a dash of oil and they are nice and hot and it's the prefect meat to noddle portion and the grilled pork is very very good. I also had the dumplings loved the dipping sauce and the bits of jalapeño was just the perfect pairing with the pork dumplings. Will def be going back and recommending to coworkers.
google avatar

Kim P.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times & consistently had the same great food. Their Bo Luc Lac is so tasty & tender, I don't even need to dip it in the lemon S&P. The banh mì is good; fresh crispy bread on the outside & soft on the inside, & stuffed with meat! The quality is as good as Chinatown. Our go-to spot for Vietnamese food in the Galleria area, but don't have to deal with Galleria traffic.
google avatar

Moieshey T.

Yelp
It was bad. Hair and mushy shrimp in my special rice. 4 tiny dried fried winglets. The egg rolls and the sauce that came with it were good though...
google avatar

Pax S.

Yelp
My brother lives within walking distance from this joint and so I thought I would check it out while visiting. I ordered the Shakened Beef and the Banh Mi with pork. Unfortunately the Banh Mi was subpar but for the price it had enough meat on it. I sadly missed the veggies and only had one sliver of jalapeño. The homemade sauce is to live for! However, for the price point I don't think this place is as traditional as I've ever eaten when it comes to Vietnamese. The Shakened beef was excruciatingly tasty and I ate it cold the next day.
google avatar

Nathan M.

Yelp
The food was not good. I was very disappointed unfortunately I was looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant. I will stick with roosters
google avatar

Sharon K.

Yelp
Great spot to grab lunch or dinner. I'm often in Houston for work and it's such a great spot to come to if you're craving Asian food or just need a break from all the heavy food. I had the shaken beef and shrimp spring rolls. The shaken been was tender and had great flavor. The shrimp spring rolls were the perfect addition to my meal to balance the stronger flavors of the meat. I also had the passion fruit smoothie , it was so perfect for the crazy heat here. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Sasha E.

Yelp
I ordered Pho with Round Eye Steak and Well Done Flank. I also ordered a Jasmine Green Tea with Tapioca to go. The Pho broth was pretty good and the veggies that came with it were fresh. There isn't an extensive option of items to add into the Pho, the protein options are: meatball, round eye steak, well done flank, and shrimp. They also have a dish called the IDK Pho Special including meatball, shrimp, eye round steak, and brisket. The Jasmine Green Tea was pretty good as well, not overly sweetened. They add a good amount of boba into it. However, the tapioca had a bit of a bite in the center (like it wasn't done cooking). It happens... I'll be back to try it again. They are very quick with preparing orders and I definitely would recommend In D Kitchen for a quick bite to eat or for to-go orders.
google avatar

Karen V.

Yelp
Ordered pho and a sandwich, went inside to pick it up and saw at least two of the kitchen staff were not wearing a mask. Even though they have a sign on the door that says masks are mandated. That wasn't the worst part, my pho broth was heated in the microwave before being handed to me and the food did not smell appetizing. Would not recommend if you're looking for good quality food.
google avatar

Kingston N.

Yelp
Love in D Kitchen. The people who work there are always on point, the food is cooked fast, and taste great. It's relatively inexpensive for the portions of food you get as well. If you live close like I do, it's weekly must. I normally get the chicken banh mi combo; if you don't get the combo that comes with their signature fries and sauce your missing out. Their Pork Vermicelli is also great. Lots of flavor. No complaints. Thanks.
google avatar

Nickie R.

Yelp
This place is wonderful. I got the banh mi sandwich and it was very delicious, quite flavorful and the fries that came with it were good too. The pho is also very delicious here & it has a good broth. Definitely give this place a try.
