Yelp
Brilliantly mediocre. The price is exorbitant in comparison to similar foods served all around the city and let's be fair - you can get better for less at establishments not too far away. That being said, the saving grace here is Bo Luc Lac - though one dish does not a couple of stars merit.
The biggest reason for the two stars is that they have super friendly staff that are perhaps the nicest people on God's green earth. I literally have nothing remotely negative to say about them. However, after giving this place multiple tries, the Pho is highly inconsistent. Sometimes, there is so little beef that I am poking around with chop sticks like a mad man trying to frack in a West Texas oil field and coming up dry. Other times, there is so much beef there is no noodles, and then yet again on another occasion too much broth and not. Much. Else.
You cannot have Pho on the menu and be this grossly inconsistent. You just can't. Granted that the broth is delicious, and you serve with a smile, the fact is that the high degree of mediocrity in everything else, plus a lack of being consistent docks three stars. I wish I had better things to say about In D Kitchen, but it is what it is and I hope they focus on rising above because if the Bo Luc Lac is any indication, they can get things right in a great way.
But you cannot have Pho on the menu in Houston, Texas and not care about keeping it real each and every single time.
