Police Eat In-N-Out Lunch While Waiting Out Burglar Barricaded Inside Bathroom | Eater LA

"An early‑morning alarm at a burger restaurant on Lower Azusa Road in Temple City led to a bizarre, hours‑long standoff after an unnamed robbery suspect who had no permission to be inside refused to leave. Police arrived shortly after 3 a.m., spent hours calling for him to come out peacefully, evacuated the immediate area and eventually brought in a SWAT team; the situation ended peacefully around 2:45 p.m. when one person was taken into custody without incident. While officers maintained a prolonged presence on scene, they were even observed ordering food from another nearby location to eat during the operation, and photographers captured deputies outside as the scene was secured." - Farley Elliott

Google
Mustard fried patties, extra lettuce extra tomato onion no ketchup no sauce, this is now my favorite order. I hardly have to wait at this location and if I do it's such a cool Vibe I love the people around here, I love the walk up and the Shady Side where you can park in your car for a minute to eat, there's also tables in the shade. Love this old school One of a Kind location. Under $10 with a drink in this day and age is amazing. Thank you in and out for the great quality and happy workers who works so hard. The manager there will stand out in the heat and is a standout star taking care of his team!!

Google
I have not been able to experience in n out in over 4 years after moving away to Florida. This was a great experience as always, and truly reminded me how much I miss the burgers here. I was slightly disappointed in there not being much animal style to my burger as ordered, and the fries were limpy. But still the same taste and quality. So kudos for keeping the company motto. This visit to cali was fulfilled after this meal and word shared.

Google
Fries were perfect, and burger was great. It was my first time here, & I love in-n-out, but some locations are hit-or-miss when it comes to the fries. Burgers are always great across all locations. Only downside at this one is the parking lot is tiny, with only four spots, while three of them appeared to be taken by employees. This is mostly a drive-thru type of Location, but there are outdoor seats and tables under a larger roof. (Not the small umbrella kind that some have) There are two unisex restrooms that are clean and kept safe with entry code.

Super yummy! Super long lines at 8 PM though ~ well worth it. Their burgers are quite succulent.

I was waiting in line all the way at the stop sign when I got up to pull up in line whenever white car in front of me took up both lanes and he moved a little bit. I went around him into the other lane then the server, Alyssa refused to get my order because she thought I cut the line And when I got to the front of the line, they wanted me to go wait for my order because they said that I had to cut the line even though that wasn't the case at all! The manager was not helpful at all and all of them at the window had attitude because they thought I cut the line when that wasn't the case and I have been waiting in line for 20+ minutes! This was on a Saturday night in August. The manager I spoke to was on that shift at 9 p.m. I received horrible service and discrimination. After waiting 30 minutes, I got a soggy cold cheese for my grilled cheese. To make matters worse, there was a piece of hair in it.

Google
Food was served faster than any other In N Out we been to, although it was cold and I dont know what's up with the fries...

Erwin Z.

Google
We ordered our food and the burgers we got were absolutely cold. I decided to speak up and tell the workers there my burgers were cold. They took it in and I waited a little and I got the burgers back. And the burgers were still cold from the bottom. I was so fed up I just decided to eat my burger cold. The bottom was still the same temperature as I got it and the top bun was barely lukewarm. The staff tried to be helpful but I just disliked the food. And I also got fries and they were cold but since at this point I was fed up I just decided to eat my freezing burger and cold fries.

Lela F.

Google
They continually rush the entire process and make way too many mistakes with food orders, cooking temperatures, and they have very unfriendly staff. I didn’t believe In N Out could ever deliver bad food and a bad experience until ordering from this specific location. I will never return to this one and urge everyone else to stay away.

Yelp
A close by In-N-Out the only problem is parking is always tough here if there's a line. Street parking is hard and once you park in the lot you have to be careful if others in line block you. Rush hour is very difficult to have a smooth meal, but once you order, wait, and eat it's all good. Lines are usually long!! Our lunch time was roughly 40 minutes total, not bad. Tables are outside seating only, umbrellas provide some shade but don't cover a lot depending on the sun's orientation. There are also lots of tiny Birds everywhere but they don't bother us. We got animal fries, double double, and drinks, we were able to ask for refills for drinks, you might have to wait in line or ask the pick up window if they're not too busy. The patty in our burgers were cold, which is so unusual. Same with the animal fries, the cheese was super thick. There's also too much ice in our drinks which is why we asked for refills. Sometimes trash is full, people tend to leave it everywhere until staff cleans it up. Restrooms are available as well!

Yelp
This location has parking but it's very limited and difficult to access. You're better off street parking but there's a specified distance where you can park. It's mostly a drive-thru location but you can walk up to order. There's four tables for eating here and it's open to the outdoors. Depending on the sun angle, the tables can get toasty. Amd if you use the drive-thru, the line can spill over to the streets. The staff here have always been nice and helpful. The food can take a bit to arrive but it is a smaller location so that's expected. The food is basically what you expect from in-n-out. It's hot and fresh especially if you eat it right away. I still wish they offered spoons for the milkshakes, or a boba straw. I can never truly drink the shakes from the regular straws. The prices are what makes this place worth it for me.

Yelp
Yummy food, fries sometimes soggy (which is okay cause I like my fries soggy) staff very nice, but sometimes long lines so...the vibe was good tho! Good times eating with family, making jokes etc. burgers were good, BUT I SAVED THE BEST THING FOR LAST. The milkshakes which were delicious.

Yelp
This place is not big enough for the amount of people that come. Gets super busy at peak hours and can take awhile.

Yelp
On this particular day, I drove through and ordered a burger and fries only to wait about half an hour, which was a bit unexpected. I'm not sure what was going on, but it definitely felt like they were moving slower than usual. I was almost out of patience, but I hope they can improve on this in the future.

Yelp
Wow. We recently passed by, because it was close to our airb&b. I grew up in California, so I had my share of a lot of in & outs. We decided to check this one out for the night & didn't realize how cool it was to be so old school! You could walk up to the window & order! So, first impression other than it being old school, was how organized it was. After ordering from the person outside, they have separate lanes to where people go. It was kinda crammed up, since it was a small parking area & cars moving along in the lanes, but it went by fast. It was a nice experience after so long coming to an In & Out. Would love to come back to this location. The only con really is that the girl in the window wasn't too enthusiastic about serving us.

Yelp
This is a small In N Out and its usually pretty crowded with drive through lines extending down the street. I've been to this location many times and usually park my car to order at the building (usually is faster than drive through IMO). We waited about 20-30 minutes to get our order and overall it was good. The fries were soggy, so that wasn't that great and the burgers were really wet/saucy, though that's partly because I got them protein style. Overall I feel like there are better In N Outs in terms of quality and efficiency. Still hits the craving though!
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
One of the least effective in n outs in terms of logistics. The line for the drive through moves continuously but all the walk up orders take forever to come out. It's not okay to wait almost thirty plus minutes for your food.

Yelp
I want to say that the customer service here is awesome as well as the food. I was waiting in line next to the driveway and I had made sure not to block the sidewalk because there is a sign there, and this burgundy Honda CRV came and cut off the whole line. I was in shock and did not know what to do, so I kindly informed the worker that came and took my order and he took action right away and also reassured me that the other car was going to have to wait for their food a bit longer after the rest of us that were in line. It felt really nice to be heard and to not be brush off because that was really not cool that the other car did that. Overall GREAT customer service!

Uriel A.

Yelp
It takes like 40 minutes to get your food, the staff is yelling, the food is overall a good quality but for customer service no. Earlier when it was 10 minutes in waiting for my food a worker I think accidentally dropped the drink and it spilled outside some got on the car, then for our order the cashier threw the ketchup and said "oops sorry" and he was giving everyone who was waiting for their order bad looks. Ambiance is good and small not much decoration. Our cashiers name was "Jonah Za" so I give this place 3 stars.

Yelp
This in n out always has good food and friendly staff, but very slow service. We typically stay to eat in their outdoor patio where they have around half a dozen tables. There is no indoor seating. Unfortunately, I often get cold hamburger buns here. It does have the vintage neon sign!
google avatar

Yelp
I found a screw in my french fries, I bought it on the drive through,i want eat at home, so I didn't see it until I got home.

Yelp
In N Out "quality you can taste" Definitely one of my go to burger places when I could for a burger. I'm a regular at the Arcadia location but it was just so packed at Arcadia I tried my luck with this location. Thankfully it wasn't as busy and I was able to sit and eat my food. The lady at the cashier named Bernice was so sweet, kind and patient . When good food goes with good service it makes the overall experience even better. The tables were cleaner than expected for outdoor eating . The lines are usually long but that's what you can expect at most if not all In n out locations . The wait wasn't too long luckily because my group and I were hungry after our run. The trash bins weren't overloaded which is the usual case at in n out . While I write this review , it actually makes me want to come back.
google avatar

Melanie M.

Yelp
In-n-Out is one of the best burgers EVER! Not only do they taste great, the service is fast and thoughtful and the pricing is truly reasonable. I love a good classic hamburger with fries well-done! Just be careful when you get in the drive thru line to stay out of traffic.

Yelp
My kryptonite is this location because it's so close to my house. I have never had a bad experience (knock on wood), I can always go there and expect the same quality. The animal styled fries, the burger, the chopped chillies and everything in between is just delightful. The workers are always cheerful and kind. The overall ambiance just feels like an extension of my home because of how close and convenient it is.

Yelp
First time going to this location and we ordered two double double meals and when we got home the fries were like rocks and our burgers were not well done ..I will not be returning to this location because they don't seem organized and they rush you to order ..
google avatar

Yelp
Double n Double! No.1 meal!!! This's a popular item n meal in the menu plus all kinds of milk shakes or even animal fries!! Over two decades myself and friends are consistently having burger patties with In-N-Out... really feel that the patties are getting smaller n thinner...? I guess inflation is affecting every costs!!! Other than that, the taste are very consistent and delicious enough... Services are as usual... quick enough... I think the design for In n Out could get it more modern if someday they decide to reconstruct the brands...

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are no hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some outdoor seating available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is small. I almost never park in their parking lot because it is just too small. It's a pain in the butt to try to get out of the parking lot because other cars and block you in. Just park on the street. Food: I ordered a regular hamburger with double onions. 2-ounce patties made from 100 percent beef chuck ground in their own grinding facilities, delivered fresh daily, never frozen. It also has hand-leafed lettuce, sliced beefsteak tomato, thick sliced onion, pickles, grilled whole onion, and pickled hot green chiles. Moreover, it has the amazing thousand island spread. The buns are soft white bun, darkly toasted on the griddle. This is the best inexpensive burger on earth. It's highly addictive! Can't live without it! Staff: The staff here are very friendly, fast, and efficient. The service is top notch. Lines are super long during peak times but the lines moves pretty quickly. For those who have had one know and for those who have yet to try, I highly recommend it. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Yelp
In-N-Out is my fave when it comes to burgers. They remind me of Krabby Patties....LOL. They're always so yummy. I order #1 well done with grilled onions, with well done fries (must try!), & make sure to get the chilis! Sometimes I do order protein style or a flying Dutchman with grilled onions of course. Animal style fries are great. Idk if it's just me, but In-N-Out has the best Coke. It tastes different. Ok now I'm hungry. Lines do get crazy sometimes. The longest I've waited is probably like 25 min (drive-thru). Sometimes I do prefer to get out and order because it's faster. It really depends if the line is shorter. There's not a lot of parking, so street parking is the way to go. They do have some tables outside. Usually not a lot of ppl eating there.
google avatar

Harlyn S.

Yelp
There was a long wait, as is expected. However, I waited over 30min and had to endure seeing people who ordered after me get their food first. Once I got my food, the burgers were cold and the only item warm was the animal style fries. The disorganization was evident in that they called 5 people out of order. Why give numbers away if you're not using them to serve in that order!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place gots big waiting lines bud it's fast and its worth to stay and wait for it it's the best old fashion restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
This is a clown shoe location at night, the workers don't want to be there. Other locations are professional and courteous. Here the workers call you "bro" over and over again. The workers here can't communicate and they all huddle together and giggle like schoolgirls. This place is run by middle school kids and it shows. Another great Gavin Newsom doing, $20 minimum wage for fast food workers for a $6 double double and still mediocre service. Open a can of sardines instead the next time you have the munchies. Much healthier, satisfying, and no aggravation.

Paul H.

Yelp
Maybe it was the humidity on a rainy day in mid-April. Maybe it was because of the long lines, but today's burger is a bit below par. The bun was pre-toasted and on the soggy side. We already know that the fries are typically hit-or-miss, but the buns today definitely missed the mark, which takes away from the typical experience. It's much like the photo, the missing blue sky is like the soggy bun.
google avatar

Cindy Z.

Yelp
It's In-N-Out, you can't go wrong. While driving up to the drive-thru, I almost missed the line though. This is a small location with a couple seats. I ordered my go-to: Double Double Cheeseburger with raw and grilled onions and chopped chilies ($4.75) and extra well done fries ($2.50). Everything came as it and was a satisfying and delicious meal.

Yelp
It is so good I can taste the variety of different meat in your mouth and they give you so much meat and it's so just and cheesy

Yelp
Before I get into my review, I'd like it to be known that I admire the In-N-Out staff members' professionalism, work ethic, and efficiency. Therefore, I am aware that any order customizations are out of courtesy and therefore accuracy with order customization ebbs and flows with customer traffic. Pre-2018, it used to be that I would have to go to the In-N-Out on Santa Anita if I wanted my order completed correctly or if I wanted fries that would survive the car journey and still be crispy and delicious, the In-N-Out on Rosemead. This In-N-Out on Lower Azusa would only be a last resort out of convenience. The fries would always be under-seasoned, limp, and tasteless. The service, while still generally within the In-N-Out standard, was on the lower band--blaise with little enthusiasm. Sometime after 2018, things noticeably changed. The fries at this location became the best and my order accuracy steadily improved until it was always better than the other locations. Service has also been night and day, not that it was bad before, but the professionalism is far better. It is impossible to be perfect, so here are just some notes I've observed that I'd like to share that may help other people. If you want your fries well-done and you order a lot--I usually order 8, it's best if there is medium to high traffic (line just barely out the driveway). My theory is that they have the time and bandwidth to cook the fries longer without having to make other customers wait. Conversely, if there is no line and suddenly cars pile up behind me, I generally know that I won't be getting my fries well-done as l like and I may even be missing an order of fries from time to time. P.S. I was reading some of the reviews and rofl at the one who mentioned the "trashy **** rookie". I know exactly the one. She rested the order on my car trim like it was a service counter and shoved the boxes at me. As you know, with the hustle and bustle, In N Out boxes often have grease/cheese/grilled onions on the bottom so it was all over my trim. She would ignore anything I said and just shove stuff at me. I knew she wouldn't be there for long so I just avoided coming back for a few months.

Yelp
Disappointed literally how it was given from drive thru, first time ordering this and it honestly sucked. Nothing like a root beer
google avatar

Gisselle L.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was bad, I was in drive thru and as soon as I arrived, there was a car blocking me to go in and had a big gap. Alex (worker) seen and the line on my lane kept going up more forward and he didn't tell cars to move up forward so other cars can enter. It was quite frustrating as people trying to get in and out fast. So to the owner or manager reading this please double make sure your employers are being attentive of the drive thru lanes.

Yelp
First in line at 10:30am today. Pulled up to the drive through window. Paid for the food. Waited 5 minutes. 10 minutes. 15 minutes. No one cared to update me lol. At the 20th minute they asked me what did I order? Huh? Then another minute went by and they said they gave my order accidentally to someone else. What?! They asked me to pull to the side so that they can give the orders to those waiting behind me. Huh?! Lol So I pulled over to the side waited another 5 minutes and finally got my order. Amazing service! Great job In N Out employees!

Yelp
Favorite burger joint of all time!! Nothing else compares. My go-to: Animal Style Cheese Burger with Animal Style Fries YUMMM

Yelp
The best burger chain in the world!! I bought their cheeseburgers with onions that are always cooked well done and the french fries that taste so good with 100 percent sunflower oil! I also bought their strawberry shake which is my favorite flavor! The drive-thru lines can be very long but I just ordered their cheeseburgers with onions, the french fries, and the strawberry shake from the front counter instead because it's a lot faster. The customer service is great as well. I definitely will be back for buying more delicious cheeseburgers with onions, french fries, and strawberry shakes again!!

Yelp
Always delicious and great customer service! Definitely a go to place for my burger, fries, and a coke cravings. My usually is a Double double, protein style, whole grilled onions, and chopped chilis Drive thru current time is 11:55 am, we started in the drive through, and out by 12:03

Yelp
Really good food the workers here are nice it's a nice area here they have awesome fries too

Yelp
You can not go wrong with an in n out burger. I got mine protein style. With extra spread. Parking is a bit of a hassle. Pro tip. Park in the neighborhood so you don't get stuck by cars going through the drive-thru Outdoor seating area. A few tables 3-4 Overall: will return when feeling in n out in temple city

Yelp
Writing an updated review on this place because I stopped by last week and got incredible service from Kaitlin. She made sure everything we ordered was in our bag and made sure to get us the extra things we requested. I also saw that she gave great communication to the staff while assisting us and made sure that everything was getting done. I think that it really impressed me because most of the workers there when they're busy usually just stick to their own tasks but I noticed Kaitlin was already ready to lend a helping hand. Not sure why but the burgers and fries tasted even better that day! Overall, this location has earned my trust again!!
google avatar

Yelp
I came at 130pm to today and they had a guy taking the orders from both drive thru lines. I ordered #1 double double meal with a strawberry shake to drink. I was in and out of there in 10 mins so that's super lucky considering the wait here could be at least 20 minutes. My food was delicious. Burger was perfectly cooked and juicy. Bread toasted really well. Fries were good. Shake was awesome especially since there was a cute lil heart in my shake.

Yelp
This place has been messing up my order, and my family keeps giving them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered grilled cheeses plain, lightly toasted, and how do they come? Full of dressing and smothered in tomatoes and lettuce, fries cold, buns soggy. Husband called the customer service line and they are issuing 2 gift cards even though I ordered 4 meals lol it's ridiculous how people wanna be paid more, but the food can come out like crap. Save yourself the time, and go somewhere else. Praying Arts Burger will be back up and running soon...

Yelp
Although this In-N-Out Burger drive-through is one of the older restaurants, it serves up probably one of the best burgers among the chain. Staff are consistently working hard and got everything right on my order, even though I had a lot of special requests. The twin palms right in front is so classic, it reminds me of being a teenager in the San Fernando Valley, where a similar looking In-N-Out served me my first burger. 50 years later, the same feeling comes to me of the chain's dominance throughout the years without changing things too much and staying true to its origins. I'm so hyped, I think I'm going shopping at the In-N-Out store tomorrow!
google avatar

Philip B.

Yelp
After waiting for almost 40 minutes, we finally get to place our order, 1 #1 with animal fries and 2 shakes. 20nsome dollars. We got our order drive away, and they didn't fill our drinks. So you raise the prices and give less. Somethings not adding up here in-n-out. Please don't do this to me. You're my favorite burger place, but this hit hard
google avatar

Brenda K.

Yelp
This is my regular In n Out, only because it's the one I'm closest to. But it's In n Out. It doesn't matter which one you go to, you know what you're going to get. Service is usually decent, no real complaints. Sometimes, the wait is long, but you only notice because you're physically blocking traffic on Lower Azusa. This is mainly a drive through location. I guess you could park and order at the window, but you'd either be blocked in by the drive through or you'd be parking around the corner in front of someone's house. Everyone I know customizes their order and we've never received it wrong. Even with all the visits we've made, there's only ever been 1 problem and I'm still not sure if it was entirely their fault. They handed us our full cardboard box of burgers, and we drove off. It was only when we got home that we realized we were missing 2 more burgers. Maybe they forgot? Maybe we drove off before we could get it? It never got corrected though. Price seems cheap, but honestly, the default burgers aren't that big. Would be a decent meal if you order the combo, but everyone knows that you don't go to In n Out for the fries.

Yelp
Came here for my last meal of 2018. Food was excellent as always. 5:30 pm NYE line was not as bad as I expected. Since my last review in 2016, the prices have again gone up! Boo! Cheeseburger went up from $2.45 to $2.55 to $2.85 Animal Style Fries went up from $3.55 to $3.70 to $3.90 Double Double went up from $3.60 to $4.15 Wow the size of the spread has shrunk! They look like ketchup bags now! Gave them a 4 since the food was good the last few times I came here, but the slow incline in prices hurts every time!
google avatar

Leticia O.

Yelp
Ordered 3 double doubles. I always ask them to add pickles and extra lettuce. Got home, opened the bag and noticed they hardly add any lettuce. One of the burgers had none. Either they are now stingy or the employee prepping the food isn't doing his or her job.

Yelp
It's 10:16pm 4th in the drive thru! 2 drive thru lanes. Outdoor seating only, 5 tables . If the line gets too long I'll go next door to Humberto's for a breakfast burrito

Yelp
Three hardworking employees in Sunday midnight. Great to see these hardworking and amazing employees are working hard to provide the best service to customers. Amazing service, it seems to me that there were short in employees, but these three personnel were working really hard as I could see them while waiting to be served at drive through. Food was amazing specially seeing these folks making them ready for us. Thanks to all of them.

Yelp
I've been to this location over a dozen times and 90 percent of the time the order is wrong. At this point I feel like they recognize me and it's a personal attack. I don't understand how an establishment can be ran so poorly. Last night was the final straw for me. I will be driving the extra two miles to go to a different location. I pulled into their driveway yesterday 2 hours before they close and half their drive through was already closed. The one line they had was taking way too long. There were only 2 cars in front of me and it took 35 minutes to get food. Once we pulled up to the window they handed us our drinks and repeated the order and we paid. We asked for a decent amount of sauce. They hand us our burgers which we asked for no tomatoes on and both had tomato so we had them correct it they seemed extremely annoyed but did it then they hand us our flying Dutchmen's and walk away then after 5 minutes of ignoring us they come back and ask us if we are waiting for anything else they completely forgot our animal style fries. So we had to sit and wait for them to make them and when we finally got them and left we get home and they aren't made right and they are extremely poorly put together. This is just one of many examples of a terrible store that constantly messes up orders. They need to do better.

Yelp
Ordered animal fries and received raw potatoes. This place needs to be shut down at this point.
