Look inside Grand Cafe’s extraordinary new window display in Minneapolis | Eater Twin Cities

"Commissioned by Grand Cafe to create an eye-catching window scene, the theater’s artists—known for outstanding puppetry made from found, recycled, and repurposed materials—studied the restaurant, its menu, and the owners’ love of Wes Anderson sets to produce a meticulous, animated miniature of the cafe. Their recreation includes tiny, animated details such as tail-wagging dogs at the bar, dancing peas on a cheese tray, and a host reviewing reservations, all rendered with the theater’s signature repurposed-material puppetry." - Joy Summers

Today was the public workshop for the May Day Parade. Awesome people, great cause. We made a hummingbird as part of the bloom chapter.

I'm not sure how I haven't made a review for heart of the beast yet, but this is an absolute icon that will not be stopped. The puppet community is one of the most beloved in this city for many reasons, and the art that I've seen at heart of the beast is some of the most powerful and unique I've ever witnessed

Enjoyed a cat show there but saw all the puppetry stuff, AMAZING! Never got to experience the festival using them but they're incredible. Would be nice if community can get programs up and running.

Wonderful community organization in every sense. Offers up lots of options for children and adults from Saturday morning programs to seasonal performances. You can build your own puppet for the May Day Parade, FREE! This place runs on grants and donations. South Minneapolis is so lucky to have this local gem!

Wonderful community organization & theater. If you seen seen their annual May Day Parade it's the best, wonderful paper make puppets and silk thre floats are people powered, walking and bicycles and stilts.. All green and full of life, love, & vivid community energies ...dance all the way to Powderhorn park and then watch the ceremony show at the park canoe across the lake and then do a show on the shore to welcome in Spring

Fun place for adults and children to be entertained, informed, and involved! The stories they represent make you think about yourself and the immediate & world communities. I saw a show with my brother about the life of Mister Rogers and it was truly heartwarming! Take the kids! Take mom and dad!

This org RUNS THE MAY DAY PARADE. Yes, that's right, the ginormous annual Minneapolis tradition is NOT run by the city, is NOT run by the state, but by a scrappy, creative, independent non-profit theater group. So fer chrissake, donate some money already, Heart of the Beast super deserves it. Besides the enormous annual undertaking of the May Day Parade, they also do amazing puppetry at their theater for both kids and adults. I highly recommend their programming!
