We got takeout from Inchin's Bamboo Garden last night for dinner. It wasn't a bad meal, but we probably won't return. We were really excited about the menu, because, as a Pan-Asian restaurant with a particular focus on Indo-Chinese food, their menu has a lot of great sounding dishes on it! Unfortunately, the food was just okay.
We started with the momo (Nepali dumplings). You can order them a variety of ways (steamed, Szechuan, fried, or butter masala) and with a variety of fillings (vegetable, chicken, lamb). We chose lamb momo Szechuan style. An order includes three momo for $6, which I think is very reasonable as dumplings take some work to create! However, the dumplings were just okay - the Szechuan sauce was not very spicy and was a little too thick/goopy. The lamb filling was good, however.
We also ordered some Malaysian paratha, which was fine (a good thing to dip in extra sauce if you enjoy any of the sauces).
My husband loves bhel - so when we saw that they had a take on a bhel - Chinese Bhel - we had to try it. If you haven't had bhel before, it's an Indian dish/snack made from puffed rice, different vegetables, and a tangy tamarind sauce. The Chinese Bhel from Inchin's is crispy noodles instead of puffed rice, and served with red onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Unfortunately, the sauce didn't have a lot of flavor, and the veggies were a little blah on this take on bhel. I did love the idea of crispy noodles in a bhel! It was kind of like bhel meets fideo!
We also ordered tofu, which, like the momo, comes in a variety of styles (Manchurian, Szechuan, or Hot Garlic and then saucy or dry). We ordered the tofu saucy & Szechuan. Again, like with the momo, I wasn't a fan of the Szechuan sauce - very thick and not very hot or flavorful. If we ate here again, I'd definitely prefer to try the tofu dry rather than saucy next time. We often keep extra sauce to reuse in the days after getting takeout, but neither of us liked the Szechuan sauce enough to keep/reuse.
Last, we ordered 5 Spice Lamb (lamb, leek, cilantro, red onions, and five spice). This was easily my favorite of the dishes we tried. It was a bit dry, but really flavorful and delicious. This was probably the only dish we tried that I would order again. If you like lamb, this is worth trying!
We ordered ahead on their website, and our food was ready a little bit early for pickup; very convenient, easy to pick up takeout option during COVID.
Being Pan-Asian/Indo-Chinese, Inchin's menu includes a lot of dishes - something for almost everyone surely! From traditional Chinese-American dishes (Mongolian beef and sweet and sour chicken) to Indian classics (saag paneer and chana masala) to Indo-Chinese dishes (Chinese Bhel and Cauliflower Manchurian) to Thai dishes like Thai Curry, Inchin's has a little bit of everything. It might be a good place to order from if you have a group of people with varied tastes or cravings! Ultimately, we didn't love our meal, but still keep it in mind if you're craving some varied Asian dishes!
