The 18 Best Restaurants in Bologna, Italy | Eater

"This street food concept, dedicated to crescentine (Bologna’s fried dough snack), is spearheaded by young entrepreneurs Edoardo Malvicini, Andrea Liotta, and Pierluigi Sapiente, who have quickly grown the eatery to four locations. Typically, the dough squares puff when deep fried, allowing eaters to tear them apart and slather them in fresh cheese and mortadella slices; the trio of founders redesigned the crescentina, shallow-flash-frying them to yield a fluffier, fragrant mini-flatbread, which can be folded and stuffed into a handheld snack or lunch on the go. The contemporary brand has attracted a following among younger generations in search of lighter versions of fat-heavy Bolognese classics. Options range from classics — like quality-sourced prosciutto and mortadella with fresh, spreadable squacquerone cheese — to inventive versions involving snails, Modenese lard pesto, Sardinian porchetta, or even plant-based doner kebab with burrata. Other street food options include cones of fried tortellini in a warm Parmigiano dipping sauce with Sarawak pepper or fried, pumpkin-stuffed cappellacci with optional black truffle." - Coral Sisk

I saw so many Internet personalities praise the food here so when I arrived in Bologna I decided to try the fried pumpkin tortellini. They were “ok”. Nothing special. The concept is cool for street food but the filling had very little flavor. Not really sure what others tasted that I didn’t. Pretty disappointing to be honest and I rarely leave reviews of 3 stars or less. The guy working there was super nice though so that counts for something.

Bologna street food! Came here for a fast and easy dinner.. paid and got it really fast. I got the ragu one, and I forgot what my friends had. But it was super yummy! Love it! It is not huge but filling. Perfect food to end the night.

Good quality, easy, perfected. What can one say, it might not be the fanciest, it might not be the biggest. But it does what it’s supposed to do, and does it well. It’s authentic, the locals love it and you’ll too! Definitely going back for the tortellini, but maybe not on a Saturday since it was incredibly busy. I had the la balla

Excellent fresh crescentine cooked right in front of you. I ordered "L'incontro" with prosciutto and squacquerone and it was unreal. Really impressed with how much was stuffed into this warm crispy crescentina. You can't see it in the photo but there was a very generous amount of cheese in there! I went around 14:00 on a Friday just before they closed for the afternoon. There were a few people waiting in line, but the staff member was very efficient, serving and cooking (alone i think?) everything fresh. She was kind and even updated on how long I needed to wait (not long, only a couple of minutes). I highly recommend this place for a quick snack/light lunch to take away - there's only a couple of bar seats inside and no outdoor seating.

OMG! This is very Bolognese! Crescentina is a local bread deep fried. They fill them with cool stuff like prosciutto, potato, cheese, pesto... Fast food of the century. They even have deep-fried tortellini. Crazy! Three shops in Bologna.

Fun place! They fry it at the moment and it's quite an experience. I only took the sweet pistachio one, which had a lot of cream and was quite a particular collection of taste and texture.

Excellent crescentine, very reasonably priced. The fantastic taste is all due to the high quality ingredients and the beautiful dough. I have been multiple times and never been disappointed. A true gem of a place despite its understated appearance. Note that it can get busy and service may be slow, but be patient, it's worth it!
