Philadelphia’s Hidden Gems: Best Bars, Restaurants, Parks, and Shops | Eater

"The big attractions near the hotel, like the Liberty Bell and Independence Mall, are all technically part of Independence National Historical Park, although they look like they’re just part of the cityscape. Dig a little deeper, though, and you’ll find a handful of lush gardens scattered throughout that are blissfully free of tourists (even most locals don’t know they’re there). The 18th-Century Garden is a faithful recreation of what a typical Philadelphia garden looked like a few hundred years ago, with well-kept paths, pergola, and the same kinds of flowers the founding fathers enjoyed, while the Magnolia Garden is peaceful at any time of year but is in full, colorful bloom in spring. Grab a snack from the nearby food trucks and enjoy a few moments of calm." - Vox Creative

This place is such an important part of history! The birthplace of 🇺🇸 the United States of America! Very well preserved with 80% of the structure original! The tour was great although a bit crowded for a weekday morning. Very knowledgeable and friendly guides! I would love to come back to spend a bit more time here.

Took the tour in the 2nd capital building, had a great time!! The older volunteer was amazing and very knowledgeable I wish I had cash to tip him, we had a conversation about the barbary pirates and how Hamilton sent the navy on their first mission to take care of them and little did I know we were in the room the navy was created in!!

Independence Square is a lovely park located in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia. Plenty of shade from the elder trees situated throughout the square and several benches for sitting. The buildings, Independence Hall, Congress Hall, and Old City Hall are gated so unless one enters from the front ticketed entrance, there is no approaching the building. No food available in the park but plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Two cafe gems within a short walk are Talula’s on West Washington Square and Frieda’s on Walnut Street.

Nice park with plenty of green space and benches to take a break from sightseeing. It's well kept and near a Wawa and coffee shop right next door.

Very pretty little park. Part of the Independence National Park. It contains several historic landmarks such as Independence Hall, Congress Hall and Old City Hall, which require free tickets. The paths in the park are shaped like a peace sign.

Great park containing some of the most important historic sites of our nation! Independence Hall, Congress Hall and the “Great Essentials” can be toured by accessing free tickets a block North at the Visitor’s Center.
