Independent Brewing Company

One of the best breweries I have been to. A very large selection of high quality beers. I got the Neopolitan Ice Cream Stout, Sabotage Hazy IPA, Blue-eyed Belgian Blonde, and the Irrational Bohemian Lager. The IPA was the best I'd had, with a great citrusy flavor and little bitterness. The stout had great flavor (it tasted just like Neapolitan ice cream), and for almost 10% abv, had very little bitterness. The blonde and lager were also some of my favorite beers ever. Service is friendly. I highly recommend this place.

I visit frequently. There’s usually food trucks to order food from and they’re all unique. The beer is all gluten-free so I take my part to oblige guilt-free! I would like to add however the chairs and bar stools are uncomfortable. Photo is of my beer, which is #9 on the list, “El Hefe,” but it doesn’t really taste like a true Hefeweizen, but still good.

I ordered the “El Hefe” hefeweißen and and “Fyre Fest” festbier. Atmosphere was amazing. Unfortunately, they did not taste like Deutschland biers. Es ist schlecht. The El Hefe was too hoppy, but the amount of malt and carbonation was right. Alcohol content was around normal for the Hefe. The Fyre Fest has way too much malt and the amount of carbonation was too much. Alcohol content was around normal for the festbier. Recommendation: Research what actual Hefeweißen and and Festbiers taste like and craft new ones because these are absolutely not what German beers taste like. Very disappointed.

Overall the location has a large following and is women owned. Outside of getting ruffied here, having bad reactions to their beer and often having issues being overcharged I stopped visiting this location. On my recent tour of over 170+ breweries in 5 months this location sits at best average (this location was my neutral test for other breweries for my first 35 breweries) .

We were driving through in our RV and stopped because this place was a Harvest Host. We loved, loved, loved it. The beer was great and the food truck on the property was yummy. We sat outside and the vibe was very chill and welcoming. Staff was super nice and it was nice to visit a couple minutes.

One of our favorite places! They have a wide variety of beers and some seltzers. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and parking isn't too bad. They have food trucks and welcome dogs. Definitely recommend it if in the area.

So e very good traditional beers. Good service. Thursday pizza truck has excellent pizza. Quiet during weekdays but very noisy on weekends. Lots odmf outside seating and covered seating if rainy.

Celebrated my fiancée's 30th birthday here. Appreciate that they are one of the few breweries open on a Monday. There was ample outdoor seating which made us feel very comfortable. In addition, they're dog friendly which was great since we have a 6 month year old puppy that isn't trustworthy to be home without us for long periods of time. The beer was pretty solid.

Great spot for a beer or flight while exploring Bel Air, MD. Minutes, hop skip and jump away from The Liriodendron Mansion. Checked that spot out for their holiday market and after driving from DE need some time to decompress with some local drafts. The brewery has over 20 different brews with sours, stouts, IPAs and lagers. Service was quick and efficient with them walking through all the different pours and offering samples to peak my interest. Their seasonal peppermint bourbon will blow you away. I usually don't do the dark beers but I would drink this all night long until Santa arrives. The space is both indoors and outdoors with special events that take up their community area with the taproom usually open to the public during events like Christmas Wreath workshop.

Food was good. Drinks were good! Staff was so kind Will definitely be back in the future

Independent Brewing Company is a decent place to pop in for a brew should you find yourself in Bel Air, Maryland. While I am not familiar with other local breweries and am not a connoisseur of beer in general, this place seemed like a nice social hub, with a food truck on site and live music. The only thing I wasn't a fan of is that there is no table service, so you have to stand in a fairly long line to get drinks yourself each time you want a drink (or food from the food truck), yet they ask for gratuity (not a fan of the business model when personal service isn't really provided). I went with their "Blue Eyed Blonde" beer. It was nice and cold, but also felt it wasn't anything special for a Belgian blonde beer compared to others I've tried. Beers are decently priced at $6-8 for a glass. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor patio seating, and the area with live music does tend to get packed when music is being performed. I would rate the place a 3.5/5, but happy to round up since Yelp doesn't allow for half stars. I'd recommend a visit to Independent Brewing Company if you're looking to socialize and try out a local spot for beer in Bel Air.

Great place to pop in for a drink. They had live music when we were there and a food truck outside as well. They had plenty of seating, both inside and outside. The place was clean and well kept. The beer was cold and delicious with prompt service.

Love the atmosphere and the beers! They had an extensive beer selection. I love the option to sit indoor or outdoors. They also have food trucks to get a bite to eat. I went here two days in a row! lol service was pleasant, staff was knowledgeable about beers which was awesome because I had no idea what I wanted!!

Everytime I come here, I receive the absolute best service. Today I received superb customer service from Mark, Harry, Roxy, Zofia, and Payton! I'm proud to support a thriving and growing local brewery.

Get your reciept!!! And check it! Stopped in to grab a quick takeout pack and was served by the Very nice, but sneaky sneaky blond bartender. After ringing me up she asked if I needed a reciept without offering me the card reader. When I said no, she pulled it away. Then I said " I want to give you a tip you didn't let me" and wouldn't you know it, there was 20% already added! I was going to be nice and give a tip but she hit the tip button after I said I did not want a reciept. Never saw such a sneaky, dishonest and probably illegal move before. She knows I caught her and I just said whatever ( would have given the tip anyway but being cheated is so low... So she gets a tip that I would have given and the place gets a bad yelp. Good for her.

We were looking for somewhere new to try on a rainy Mother's Day, so made the trek down from PA, and started looking for breweries. This place was really cool. The layout is a bit like a maze, but it allows for large crowds and ample seating, both in and out of where the action is. They had live music in the corner of the main bar area. The beer selection was immense, and there was definitely something there for every pallet. I'm an IPA fan, so I was able to try two of those, and they were both great. My wife really enjoyed her light lager too. My only disappointment was that the only bar food to be had was either pre-packaged stuff, or food from an overpriced food truck (not their fault). We will definitely be back!

Sorry. Not paying $7 for premium beer in a plastic cup. Won't be back. All other breweries give you a glass. How pathetic. Won't be back

We discovered this place as a meet up with other friends and their kids. (We weren't the only ones with kids so that was nice haha) Fri night, super crowded. It's definitely popular. If the weather was nicer, the outdoor space could have been utilized but it was rainy and cold. The indoor space was great. The servers were friendly and helpful. They don't do flights on weekend nights which was a bummer but the beers we tried there were good. It was convenient to order food from the food trucks online. I'll def come back the next time I'm in town.

What a great area. They have multiple seating options both indoors and outdoors . The ambiance was great especially with the music playing. Outdoor areas have games in certain places. The beer is flavorful and tasty depending on your flavor pallet. My friend enjoyed the cosmic lasso. They have non alcoholic options as well. Food wise we utilized the food truck that was there. For a price you can also rent put certain areas. The staff is very helpful in that process.

Great place to chill and the Funkhouse is playing 80's old school rap which is amazing!!! Live music in main taproom. Wish they had other drink options (local MD wines, etc.). Even if not a beer fan it's still a great place to hang.

We like the concrete and steel theme of Independent. The staff is always helpful. The beer is good. Let me recommend the Carpe Diem and it's variations if you are an IPA fan. It's kid friendly, dog friendly, bike friendly. They seem to always have a food truck.

Love the beers and atmosphere. Super chill place. Closest Colorado vibe. Recommend all of the double IPA- Blood Orange my favorite. Always had great service and they support local food trucks. I prefer day time weekend drinking but always a cool place to chill.

Lots of beer options, many outdoor seating areas, pet friendly, good food truck. My boyfriend and I went here after a hike at little gunpowder falls and had a great time with our dog. There is street parking in front and on the side. There were several seating areas outside including a huge tent which I think may have covered their parking lot. There was a band inside an heaters, but it was nice enough that we sat out on the back lawn at picnic tables. Nearly every picnic table had a dog so definitely recommended for friendly, social dogs. The lawn is huge with lots of tables but it did fill up eventually. It was nice to have a place to actually walk the dog was was contained/not on the street. There were a lot of great beer options though I didn't see any beer flights which was slightly disappointing. We just got pints and everything was delicious! There was also a food truck with bbq and burgers which was pretty good. Overall it was a nice environment and the beer was great!

Went on a very crowded day and the drinks were nice. They weren't too expensive but it was quite noisy. Didn't know there was an event but I want to go back soon to enjoy more.

Best beer in Bel Air Maryland. They have it all on weekends, beer food and music. Everyone is very congenial lots of room to move around and sit.

Always a chill place and forward thinking in both its growth and tasty beers. It's physical space has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The beers are creative and there's a lot of variation that we look forward to trying with each visit. Today we had the chocolate hazelnut porter. It was smooth and so drinkable with notes of vanilla, hazelnut, and coffee. If you see the owner, he's usually very busy but will take time to chat with you. The background music sets the mood for a relaxed atmosphere. We highly recommend checking this place out and get here early if you want a seat because it gets jam packed. Pups are welcomed too. Just be prepared to stay outdoors though.

Our friend didn't even know that was all gluten free beers! Great vibe for a rainy winter day. Chef at food truck understood gf and was great on accommodations for my husband.

Looking for a great craft brewery in Bel Air? Here it is. Went here after a holiday dinner. Lots of people here, some with food from food truck, take out, or pizza. Party vibe in terms of happy and upbeat conversations and groups. In nice weather there is also big outdoor space. For December, nice old pick up truck with Christmas tree by door. Beer selection is immense. Bad Hombre, Blue-eyed Blonde and Ten Acres were all delicious. This brewery has long hours. A great get-away for a refreshment.

It was a blistering hot Fourth of July day when F and I rode our bikes to Independent Brewing Co. We were staying at a local farm. I really liked the set up and vibe here. There is plenty of outdoor seating with shade. F and I sat in the cozy yet breezy container/alcove and enjoyed a variety of offerings. I especially liked their rye beer. It seemed like many people had the same desire to get out for a cold one, but we never felt it was too crowded. There is also a food truck on site, where F had a delicious Italian Sausage sandwich.

Went for a flight after hiking, and ended up here because our original choice didn't allow dogs. So glad we did. The live musician, friendly bartenders, and fun seating made a great beer pit stop. They have soooo many beer choices, a flight of 4 will run you $10, with individual beers ranging from 6-7$. It was very hit or miss, but thats expected for a large variety. The ones I didn't love werent awful, more 2-3 plain ranking (most of their IPAs), but the ones I loved were a solid 5 (rye porters). On the IPA side, they have lots to choose from, but the flavor profiles need some work-they blend together-only the Nasty Woman stood out, with the Supercalifa...being the worst. The stouts are good, not syrupy! Parking lot gets crowded, but there is street parking nearby. They also have a boatload of food options including in house kitchen choices and a food truck on site.

We love going to Independent Brewing Co! It is such a fun environment, they always have great food trucks, and the beers are great! We always bring out of town guests here, because it's such a great little hangout spot in Bel Air. They installed misters in their outside spaces for hot days, which is genius! It's like your waiting in line at a theme park. I was so impressed it just added to the environment and how much they care about the comfort of their guests! They also have fun little games outside to play. I highly recommend coming here for a date night, hangout or just to enjoy a great beer!

The music was great and the outside atmosphere comfortable The food truck Fuzzies Burgers was where I ate from the burger was delicious but very small and cost $15.00 I was in shock with fries for myself and my grandson it came to $45.00! Fries not included and cost $6.00 each for a smaller size cup Wow... a bit too expensive for me

This brewery is perfect for downtown Bel Air. My fiance and I went here after we got our marriage license from the courthouse to celebrate. The deco is really interesting. They have bags of their hops and malt hanging hi from the ceiling so you can see where all the beer deliciousness is sources (and from the looks of it it's all over the world). All the beers are gluten free and awesome. I really enjoyed the funny names for a lot of beers but they also tasted great. One of my favorites was Nasty Woman. We opted to get a flight because four sampls for $10 was a great price. I also really appreciated that there was a food truck parked outside. Ended up getting some chips and guac. The truck that was there when we visited was owned by the same people who own Pairings Bistro, a top caterer in Bel Air. Overall, I had a great experience at this place and I'm looking forward to a return trip ASAP.

I was visiting Bel Air for the weekend and we popped in here. Yay for parking in this downtown area. A lot of great beer options, great outdoor seating, and humor for days. I split a flight with my husband. Had a Belgium and stout. Both were perfection. It's dog and family friendly. They had a food truck there, but we had lunch, so didn't partake. They could update the outdoor patio seating area, it was a bit worn down. Still comfy! Will definitely pop in again on our next visit to the area.

They are friendly and the beers are always the perfectly cold temperature! I bring my dog (she loves coming here).

Worse experience in my life. Staff accosted me on two occasions when my dog barked. My dog barked once. Truth. Owner pretends that he's animal friendly but I strongly believe it's for business purposes only. I've heard from multiple patrons that he regrets the decision to allow dogs. Don't believe the hype the owner and staff dread the fact that dogs are present.

This is truly one of my fav breweries in the state of Maryland! In a great lil town of Bel Air. They keep adding features to the tasting room like outdoor space, shipping container, food trucks amd more. Love the Double IPAs and sours!!! A huge selection on draft.

What a wonderful place! I have a new puppy and have been trying to find new places to take her - she loves going to this brewery!!!! The staff could not be better, they all stop by to give her a pet and make sure she has water - and the beer is outstanding!!! something for everyone. i couldn't speak more highly of the beer staff and environment!

Highly recommend coming here! The beers are always excellent, and their indoor and outdoor seating is plentiful and comfortable. They always have great food trucks and live music, and I love that they're dog friendly! Also very conveniently located right off the Ma and Pa trail. There is a parking lot across the street (Ellendale), but it gets packed fast on the weekends!

The best bar in Bel Air. It has the loveliest location, great live music, fun colorful atmosphere, and the crowd is inclusive of all ages. What I have loved over the years is how it is always dynamic and changing. The owners clearly love what they do and the brew really delicious beers! Did I mention drinking with your dog?! (Or other people's dogs?!) but don't worry, there is a dog free area for you too. See what I mean about inclusive?! I love it here

Another fantastic brewery in BelAir! Stopped in to check out their brews. They have an excellent layout with lots of outdoor, COVID safe seating. Twenty different brews on tap with one even non-alcoholic. I tried the Blacklisted which is a Schwarzbiwer. It's a dark heavy stout with an excellent flavor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent experience. I will definitely be back when I have more time to try the other options.

Really busy brewery, but a cool space. Lots of seating options both inside and outside. Not many people were wearing masks, but staff cleaned the tables with a cool sanitizer spray gun between customers. Lots of beer options and even a seltzer on top. Would like to see them add more seltzer or cider for the non beer drinkers :)

Top brewery in Bel Air. People are so friendly and craft beer is awesome. We plan to celebrate my man's birthday this Sunday before the Super Bowl game. Pick up some local craft beer to go. Let's dance to the great bands that play at the brewery. Plus grab some local artisan food from the trucks. We will catch up with friends over a cold one, just like we always do at IBC.

I absolutely love this place but most of the staff are SO RUDE. I love the beer and the atmosphere but staff are nasty. We had a large group tonight and a few of our friends had just left and we were kicked out of our table by an extremely rude female bartender. Get it together Indy staff.

The beers they have are full of taste & brewed right there! Their kombucha and root beer is amazing as well and on tap. They have food trucks outside with some amazing tacos. We enjoyed the live band Skylar Parker and Cooper Wade the other day!! They were amazing!! The workers are super on top of it always removing the used glasses and it's so cool even their water comes out of a barrel type thing lol. I'd definitely recommend going there for a fun or vibing weekend!!

Absolutely love this place. Have been going for years and it just gets better and better. The beer is the best in the county! I also LOVE everyone that works there. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. I love there is options for seating, indoor or the beautiful outdoor area. The live music and food trucks is the cherry on top. Can not recommend them enough!

Independent is EASILY my favorite place in Bel Air. Maybe my favorite place in Harford County as a whole. The beers have all been good, my favorite beer they have is The Juice is Loose. Their selection is really good with a wide variety of styles from IPAs to sours, stouts, and more. As an added bonus all of their beers are brewed to be gluten free. I can't even tell a difference between these beers and other gluten containing beers so that's good (unless you are reallllly into wheat beers). The ambiance here is also awesome. You can bring your dog into the front bar area as well as outside and that may be one of my favorite things about this place. Good beer and dogs is a winning combination for sure. They also have a food truck on site that changes on different days, so there is always a solid option for food. If you haven't been here before I highly recommend coming. I'm here almost every weekend so that should really say something. Cheers!

Unique brewery located in the heart of Bel Air. There's definitely a hipster type vibe because it also doubles as an art gallery. If you're running/walking the Ma and Pa trail it's walking distance so makes for a nice post-workout beer spot! I decided to get a flight and tried four of their beers. All of them were really good! My favorite was the Wanderlust. $10 for a flight isn't too bad. All of them are apparently gluten free if that is something that means something to you! I believe they serve little snacks here (I never saw the menu but thought I saw a snack menu) but they also have a food truck outside. I believe there's different food trucks throughout the week-- the one that was there when we were there was the Crossroads food truck. The food truck was pretty good minus anything with crab dip. My friend and I split crab dip fries and it tasted like the roux never completely incorporated and the dip was really gritty and unappetizing. I didn't take off stars cause the food truck is technically separate and doesn't have its own Yelp page. I also got a curry burrito and it was good and a unique menu item. It's cool how the two businesses work together though!

For starters - for folks that have gluten sensitivity finding gluten free or reduced gluten beer that tastes great is a near impossibility. Independent does it 24 times every day. Customers come from distant locations just to be able to drink these great beers. Would you come all this way to sit in one of the 8+ different areas of the brewery (inside and outside)? Would you come all this way for good service? Would you come all this way for food from a food truck or purchase prepared food from a cooler? Would you come all this way for live music? Maybe, but you should come all the way for the great beer (that just happens to be gluten free).

This place is awesome. They have 26 rotating items on tap! They have rotating food trucks with good food. They have won many craft beer competition awards..The beer is awesome! The staff gives great service and and the patrons are friendly. Oh yeah, I got my first beer for only buck! I opted in to their Brew Crew texting club. I am going to get a beer for only a penny for my birthday!

Favorite hangout in Bel Air. Always good beer no matter your preference. Food trucks are usually good. Even better you can bring your own food. Great music on the weekends. Love Russ May. Fun place to hang.

What is not too like!!! First time here and I'm, we're hooked! So stoked that I don't have to drive into Baltimore for some really good craft beer. The atmosphere is fantastic, and they have a ton of community social events. The beer is good, and there is something for all tastes from malty low IBUs to very hoppy high IBUs. Growlers and Crowlers available. We loved the Greek Food Truck (Eat Like a Greek), absolutely fantastic food. Great portion sizes, enough to split, especially the Hercules Fries, yum!!! Live band this visit, fantastic! Dog lovers can bring Fido too!!!

My first time in Bel Air and my friend took me here. It's pet friendly and family oriented during a Saturday afternoon. There's outdoor music and seating. There was a variety of different beers and I didn't know what to choose so the bartender gave me the option to test a few different beers. I tried the Blue Eyes Blonde and it was great for someone who doesn't like strong IPA's. If you text the words "BREW" to 22452 you get any beer for $2. I tried it and it worked lol.

Very cool atmosphere. Indoor and lots of outdoor seating. My fiance and I shared 2 flights of beer so we could try a bunch of their beers. My favorite was Topless Driving an American wheat with grapefruit. Wasn't overly impressed with any of the other beers we tried but seems like there are rotating beers so my experience may be different the next time. I would definitely come back and give the beers another chance. We had amazing food from the food truck, Eat Like a Greek. Great spot to hang with friends and family. Limited parking in the back, but found street parking nearby.
