Great staff, served me quickly so I could back to work on time. Food quality is amazing. The chef is really good. Highly recommended if you want to have a good time for you and your stomach!

Our server was so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and fresh. We split samosas and ordered several different naan options which were all equally tasty. The mango lassi was very refreshing. I had an eggplant dish that might be my new favorite. Highly recommend!

The food here tastes like it's made with love and is full of flavor! The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and very spacious. The gentleman wait staff was welcoming, patient, and prompt. Great service, amazing food, perfect portions, and nice atmosphere. Only 2 very minor things that could use some attention, is the wear on the booth furniture and the unattractive green plastic baskets the naan is served on.

Google
Their food is excellent and I believe they deserve more stars and a higher overall rating. My lunch was top notch and the service was very well done. I would highly recommend it and definitely coming back!

Stopped in for dinner and were so glad we did! Raj was one of the most attentive servers I’ve had in a long time! We ordered Onion Pakora (recommended by Raj), Garlic Naan and a Chicken Tikka Masala which was enough to fill the two of us up. You get a literal mountain of rice and I was worried the entree would be too small, but it was just enough! All the food was fresh and delicious and thankfully Minnesota spicy though I’m sure you could notch it up if that’s your thing.

Excellent Indian food in St. Paul. We tried the Tandoori for 2 medium spice. I like hot food, I could have eaten it hotter, but it was just right.

Google
Genuinely the best Indian food in the Twin Cities. I will drive out of my way to eat here instead of places nearby. Meat quality is always really good, you can tell they put a lot of effort into their dishes. One of my favorite places to bring people visiting from out of town. Always look for an excuse to eat here!

Fantastic menu with a variety of delicious choices, really pleased with the food! My family enjoys dinners here where we can try each other's entrees and enjoy the time.

Yelp
India House is great for midweek takeout! I've ordered India House takeout through Uber Eats and their website, and have not been disappointed! While the heat was less than I preferred the first time I tried India House, the food was flavorful. I like to order two meals so I have leftovers, and I can usually stretch these meals to as many as four meals with India House's moderate portion sizes. I have tried the chicken vindaloo (yummy spice, gluten-free), palak paneer (comforting, vegetarian, gluten-free), and the chicken makhani (like a comforting butter chicken, gluten-free). All three are yummy meals that provide warmth and comfort! The service was quick and friendly when I picked up everything, and a decent number of patrons were eating in the restaurant for a weeknight. I would highly recommend India House if you want a relaxing, comfortable Indian Meal!

Yelp
Chipotle is across the street which is where we were headed UNTIL we were drawn to the delicious aroma of this restaurant! It was early, about 4:30 or so, but we were seated and got a couple of menus. The man who seated us may have been the owner. He was humming and singing to what sounded like Tibetan tunes. We loved that. We ordered some entries with some Naan. The orders came out soon. I ordered my dish mild. There was a tiny tingle to it, but it was mild. My partner ordered his medium heat and although he's used to szechuan, it was pretty hot. The naan was AMAAAAZING!! The texture, the taste...dipping that into the dishes was great. The rice, very fluffy and delish! It was a bit spendy at $18 per entree' dish. Less expensive at Chipolte, but did feel bad about it, no. Great experience and they've been in biz for a very long time. I'd go back and I'd order food to go in a heartbeat!

Yelp
We came in and it was buffet time. The food was ok. The service and friendliness of the staff could use improvement. What really needed some attention was the condition of the dining room. The ceiling tiles are yellow dingy uneven and just plain old, bulging in places. The walls could use a new coat of paint. The ambience is in need of attention. We didn't use the bathroom. If the dining room is in such disrepair I don't know if I would want to see the bathroom. If you buy Groupon for this restaurant just know, in small print, you can't use it for the buffet. Apparently money isn't the same money during different times. We spent $47+ on two person buffet. We had spent less than that at a nearby Indian restaurant and had better quality food and much nicer ambiance.

Yelp
I went to India House with my boyfriend on a Saturday early evening for dinner. It is located within a larger building so you have to go through 2 entrances before entering the restaurant. India House has a good vibe as the table settings are nice and the service was prompt. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the chicken tandoori with a side of cheese naan. Looking back I did not need to order the cheese naan as so much rice came with the chicken tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala was the best tikka masala I have ever had! In addition the chicken tandoori was incredible, the chicken was super flavorful and tender. I will definitely be coming back for more Indian food!

Amanda B.

Yelp
So delicious! We got takeout and it never disappoints! It was ready on time, good portions and everything made correctly! We tend to order too much as we want multiple things and then we eat it for a few meals and it always heats up well too. Our fav Indian restaurant!!!

Heather K.

Yelp
I took my daughters to this restaurant and offered the dinner for two. It was more than enough for the three of us. The chicken was cooked to perfection- tender and seasoned well. My youngest doesn't tolerate spice well and this was not a problem. I highly recommend their mango lassi - refreshing and not too sweet. They also kindly made an exception to the dessert option to accommodate my girls' requests. Service was a little bumpy, perhaps training someone in, but not enough to not recommend.

Madina Z.

Yelp
Amazing food. Was craving for Indian food and happy to find another favorite restaurant. Nice inside and has parking place too.

Darcy R.

Yelp
A little disappointed with my takeout order. The order included the INDIA HOUSE SPECIAL Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Boti Kabab, Shrimp Tandoori served on a hot plate skewer with chicken or lamb curry. Served With Choice of Bread. $28.99 and DAL Yellow Lentils. $14.99 The 3 pictures represent the food received for almost $44 which was disappointing. A lot of rice and 2 pieces of naan made up too much of the India House Special. The flavors in the chicken, shrimp and lamb were good but, with the exception of the chicken curry, the meat was dry. The Dal was very good but again a little spendy for what is received.

David N.

Yelp
One of our family's favorite places to eat. Delicious food, good portions, and a wide variety of options on their menu.

Yelp
We placed our order online with BentoBox for pickup. Seemed easy enough. Love Indian. They were open on Easter. Got a text confirming the order with a window when it would be ready. We arrived at the restaurant at the time the order said it would be ready. Then we got a text message saying it was ready. When we entered the restaurant for pick up, we were told it would be at least another half hour. We asked why we got a text saying it was ready and we're told all the texts were automated. Thankfully it was only ten minutes later and ready but it's difficult to understand why India House uses this service if it's not accurate. The food was good. We ordered all items medium (never quite sure spicy scale when trying a new place). The Chicken Makhani was surprisingly spicy. We didn't seem to be the only customers caught in the order ready - timing issue. There were six or so others waiting. Labor shortages are real and the employee mentioned the kitchen was backed up. The whole text thing just didn't make sense.

Yelp
Came here with my folks for dinner last Sunday and the three of us ended up splitting one of the Tandoor Dinner For Two, which really could have fed four people! It had so many yummy offerings within the one special to include your choice of vegetable samosa's or beef samosa's followed by main course sampling of tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, boti kebab, shrimp tandoori, fish tikka, kabab paneer served with mixed vegetables and a choice of chicken curry or lamb curry and accompanied with dessert gulab jamun and choice of bread. We got the vegetable samosa's which were divine and so flavorful. We chose the lamb curry and garlic naan for bread (by the way they have tons of naan and bread options which I found unique). Everything was so flavorful, taste was spot on with everything we ordered. The total was like $50 for the whole thing but considering it fed three people and could have fed more, I think it's a great deal and I love that you can try so many different varieties with the house special. I'm anxious to come back and try more of the menu. Really cute interior, friendly hard working staff, I'm happy to have India House in St Paul!

Yelp
Very unprofessional service, I called ahead and was lied to on the phone and told dine in closed at 9 so I ordered take out. I arrived at 9:20 only to find customers still seated and eating. I asked if me and the other person I was with could eat our food there and they agreed. I briefly left to use the bathroom and when I came back I was told other customer were leaving and so I had to leave too. At this point it was 9:28 and the website says the restaurant closes at 10. Poor service and ruined the ambiance, 0/10

Yelp
Twelve years ago I gave an average review to India House. But credit where credit is due: it's now earned an extra star and legitimately makes solid North Indian food. The vegetable samosa ($5) was nicely done, with a great shell and beautifully seasoned potato filling. The dal ($13) is probably vegan by default, but I made sure to add a "no butter/cream/ghee" comment in the "Special Requests" field. It was light and nicely cooked, with intact lentils (I hate when restaurants overcook lentils and turn them into a mush). The channa masala ($13) is vegan by default and superb: deeply savory with hints of ginger and piquant spice. The bangan bhartha ($13) is vegan by default and has lovely baked eggplant with peas without the sharpness, bitterness or excess oil that some North Indian eggplant dishes can have. India House did flub on the alu gobi ($13), which featured undercooked potatoes and imbalanced spices. The tandoori roti ($3) was too thick, but was still ultimately acceptable. I wish India House labeled its vegan items to make things easier on people. That said, India House is a winner and a good spot to visit in St. Paul.

Yelp
Our new go-to for Indian food. We ate in the dining room last week - great service! Take-home tonight - still hot when we got home. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous, food tastes great, spice levels are well calibrated..

Ashley D.

Yelp
2 orders of the India House Special for 4 people was more than enough food (also, came with 2 samosas each, not pictured); both parties had leftovers! The food was really good; favorites were the chutney served with samosas and the tandoori oven portion (wonderful char on protein & veggies). We loved getting to try all of the different courses in the House Special! We all ordered medium as their scale constitutes of mild medium and spicy; spicy being the hottest level. We all love a good 4/5 on authentic thai and can definitely handle some heat. Their medium spice level seemed mild and I would assume their spicy is not very hot. I would at least order spicy if you'd like any heat. The service was great and the piano music set great ambiance for a quiet dinner with good conversation :)

Rebekah C.

Yelp
Chose to eat here for the tandoori. We ordered garlic naan, vegetable samosa, shrimp tandoori and lamb curry. The price came to just about $100 with three glasses of wine. The naan is delicious. Loved it! The shrimp came out sizzling on a skillet plate. Not sure that it is traditional tandoori. As it was different than other places I have been. The dish had eight shrimp and lots of onions. The veggies were frozen and still cold when served. They were not fresh. My husband liked the lamb curry. The shrimp came with chicken curry which is unnecessary. I would eat here again but probably do takeout.

Oliver P.

Yelp
Food is tasty. Can increase portion size a little bit. Dinning area is clean. Need to clean up the bar area and make it looks nicer. Service was good. Definitely, I would come back.

Michael B.

Yelp
Such great food! I'm always hankering to try new Indian food establishments and this one is really good. Came for lunch and left in a coma. Friendly staff.

Diego B.

Yelp
Ordered lamb vindaloo to go, when asked if I wanted it spicy or not I requested spicy. Lamb vindaloo is an already spicy dish so a "spicy" vindaloo should be a 3 alarm fire, which is how I like it. Also ordered a garlic naan. Total came out to $26. This was a very disappointing meal as there was more potatoes in my lamb vindaloo than there was lamb meat. There could not have been more than 3 ounces of lamb meat that I received. There was absolutely no spiciness, it was completely mild. I basically paid $30 (with tip) for some lamb flavored potatoes, rice, and garlic bread. What a joke.

Yelp
This has been my family's favorite restaurant for YEARS, the staff are very nice and they've got all sorts of delicious Indian food!

Rosalie Y.

Yelp
Amazing- what a beer list! Our waiter was friendly but I think English is not his first language. We were worried that he didn't understand what we were asking... but the food was great. Most impressive was the Naan bread and the kabobs! What great flavor and freshness. We stopped in after the Grand Meander and were happy we did.

Santina U.

Yelp
Ok, so I want to give it 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow for that. Here's my reasoning: I have never dined inside so this is purely based on me picking up my food. First off, staff is always friendly. Food is ready within reason. Malai kofta, which is my absolute favorite - fantastic! Although I have to order spicy to get any sort of heat as I think they cater to the MN spicy crowd. Veggie samosa - huge and good. Roti - inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes ok. Spicy pickles - not a fan as they were not crunchy. Shrimp tandoori - had a flavor I didn't care for, can't really explain it, and the shrimp were pretty small. Dal - decent. They also send periodic emails offering for money off of your order for $xx amount spent which is nice.

Octavia V.

Yelp
Very good Indian food! I love love love thé Malai Kofta (I think I spelled that right)

Jeff C.

Yelp
Serious Indian food in the Midwest. The menu holds few surprises but delivers on its commitments. On the nicer side with white table cloths. Definitely head next door for some ice cream and you have yourself a date or family night on Grand Ave in St. Paul.

Sara G.

Yelp
Delicious food with many vegetarian options to chose from. Friendly service and big enough space to get seated in a decent time.

Ma R.

Yelp
Below average fare. Biriyani was soggy and clumpy - not basmati rice. At 15.99 for delivery, the quantity was 1/3 what a typical Biriyani is. Curries we're OK. Rotis thick and chewy

Kat B.

Yelp
I was so impressed by this restaurant, the food, and the service. Our server, Rita, was the sweetest and ridiculously accommodating. honestly, I could have just eaten the sauces (mint and tamarind sauce) that came with the Alu Tikki. That was also amazing that Rita filled us up and then also gave us a big plate of rice and 2 big ramekins of both sauces. We got the lamb and chicken curry and then the chicken tikka and garlic naan. All was very good! We will definitely be returning. There's so much more we want to try!

K M.

Yelp
Great food and very attentive service. Authentic food and so many options regarding spice levels, proteins, etc. our new "go-to" place in St. Paul!!!

Cathi M.

Yelp
Best Indian food I've had in the Cities. The chai took me back to when I worked In India. Will definitely be back!

Cheri A.

Yelp
I love the food and service at India House! I've done both in house eating and ordering online/pickup several times and have always had a great experience. Staff is helpful and food is delicious! Definitely one of my favorite go to places in St. Paul.

Kacey J.

Yelp
Mr Singh was our server and he was fantastic! We had the vegetable masala, appetizer platter, garlic naan, and paneer masala. Everything we ate was fantastic and we have enough for lunch tomorrow. Me and my sister are both vegetarian and there were so many options to choose from. Can't wait to come back!

AJ F.

Yelp
Adored this place for years. My FAV cuisine. Seems like there's been a post-COVID change in staff. Waited an hour for take out order. Still didn't get the correct food. $50 wasted. Missing the A-Team staff something fierce.

Kimberly T.

Yelp
I don't go to St. Paul often, but when I was there last week, I was craving Indian food. I ordered online and picked up my food at India House. I got the Lamb Palak ($15.99) which is boneless lamb and spinach in a light curry sauce and Keema Naan ($2.99) which is ground beef-stuffed naan bread. The entree came with a big helping of basmati rice. I arrived and my food was ready for me when I got there. The lamb was so tender and I loved the light sauce. I chose a "hot" spice level, but it was pretty mild, so I'd suggest to order a level up from what you normally order at Indian restaurants. I've never seen ground beef-stuffed naan anywhere before, so I'm happy I've found it here! They gave me plenty of naan and the meat in it was very tasty! India House is currently only open for take out and their entire dining section is blocked off. They have a large space, and I hope they'll be open for dine-in soon! For those who've never visited, there's street parking available in front and around the corner from India House!

Julie T.

Yelp
I would menu, great food, pleasant environment. Good place to bring the family. ATR recently, will come again soon.

Moga S.

Yelp
Good basic Indian food! love the palak paneer and the naan. wish they had some chutneys, like potato chutney!

Harry D.

Yelp
Average Indian food at above average prices. We ordered the Lamb Vindaloo, Garlic Naan, and a Coke for delivery. We received a diet coke, and that's just gross, but it was the highlight of the meal. The Garlic naan was decently spiced and fluffy with a good bite, which was marred by the sour tang of something burnt tasting. The Lamb Vindaloo was a huge disappointment. At $14.99 you get about a cup and a half of rice and 3/4 cup of Lamb and potato Vindaloo. You expect a Vindaloo to be fairly spicey, the cook must have made it for a below average spice tolerance of a midwesterner because there was no kick and it lacked in flavors other than a light curry and vaguely tomato. The lamb was stringy and fell apart, it tasted dry in the mouth even when covered in sauce. We couldn't decide if it was poor quality, left to simmer for too long waiting for a buyer, or if had been frozen and thawed too many times. I wanted to try a new Indian place out but can not recommend India House at this price point for this quality.

Denise L.

Yelp
My friend picked up food to go from here and said it was the best Indian food around. I would've loved to try their lunch buffet, but was too lazy to get out of bed. :P She got me their butter chicken, medium, and it had a kick to it! The curry itself was what I was used to and tasty, but the chicken was overcooked and dry. Naan and rice were standard. She got one of their pickled sides and boy, was it not good! It almost tasted like cleaning solution!

Xai V.

Yelp
Ordered two entrees with rice and naan. Both of them seem precooked, the chicken were dry inside and seem like they just heat up the curry and tossed the chicken in it to warm up, the flavor doesn't penetrate through the meats.

Ted G.

Yelp
By far the BEST indian restaurant I have been to. The dining room gets quite full during dinner so be prepared to arrive early in order to get a good booth or table. They do have plenty of seating, you won't be without a table. The service here is great. The water is typically filled within minutes after being seated, the servers are also very quick to provide drink orders, etc. They have a fine selection of drinks to include wines and smoothies. The menu is quite large as with most indian restaurants, my favorite being the chicken tikka masala. I would recommend the vegetable samosa as a starter and garlic naan to accompany your entree. I have not yet found the unique flavor and spices in any other indian restaurant that I have found here and I have tried. They also have a great lunch buffet which i have also tried once and was very impressed with not only the selection but the freshness of the food offered. I highly recommend stopping in...

Kaitlyn W.

Yelp
Went for the lunch buffet and I was very impressed! Only $11.99 and all you can eat. I do wish there was a larger dessert selection though.

Jon N.

Yelp
I have to admit this is the best Indian place I have been to in the MSP Area. The food was so tasty, portions Good except too much rice.

Perry S.

Yelp
This is a review more about what's behind the "green curtain" than food; the appearance of a restaurant, especially behind the scenes, which are often closed to diners. I'll get the food out of the way by saying that we ordered several curry dishes and several biryrani dishes. All were passable; similar in taste and quantity to other Indian restaurants we've visited. What caught our attention --and deeply affected our dining experience--was not the "front of the house," where guests are served, but the "back of the house:" the kitchen and the bathrooms. Simply put, India House does not present itself as being clean and sanitary. The bathrooms were messy, with used paper towels on the floor and old fixtures that looked like they needed a good scrubbing. Upon returning from the bathroom we passed the door to the kitchen. The door was ajar so we poked our head in. What we saw did not sit well. A picture is worth a thousand words, so look at the image and draw your own conclusions. Based on our standards of cleanliness, we will not be returning.

Jill R.

Yelp
I ordered veggie and beef samosas, garlic naan, and chicken tikka. First off, one of my beef samosas turned out to be veggie too. They told me it would take 40 minutes. After sitting there for 45 minutes I asked him to check and he came back out with my food. The total according to the menu online should have been $22.50. They charged me $37.41, no receipt so no explanation. I won't be back.

Sam I.

Yelp
Hands down, this is the best & my favorite place for Indian cuisine. All dishes I have tried have been excellent, high quality, tasty, great value, & service is top notch even for take out everything is well packaged & accurate. Appetizer sauces are phenomenal, the beef samosa is one of best I ever had & the biryanis are wonderful.

Heather W.

Yelp
The garlic Naan was fantastic, but the rest of the food was just ok. It didn't have much flavor. I was disappointed as I had my mom along who asked a few questions about the food before ordering. The waiter gave a brief answer but seemed to have written us off after that. They didn't even give us the correct food, but weren't around checking on us to find out. I wouldn't recommend this place. Side note, they are doing some construction to the building right now so you may have to walk around some of the work. That was the least of my concerns.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
I'd recommend for dine in. Food and service was good, but a little pricey. Lots of selection for vegetarian and meat eater options. The naan and samosas were both amazing. Entree was good. I can't do too much spice and i thought it was great. I tried ordering delivery and the portions seemed much smaller than when I ate in person (ie one rice for two entrees). I'd go back in person, but I'm not rushing to order delivery.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I've been craving the Chicken Shahi Korma curry ever since I came here! This is my new favorite place for Indian food, glad to see they have a location in Maple Grove too. I ordered the Shahi Korma mild since it was my first time here and didn't want to over do it on the spice. It came out with pretty much no spice at all but I wasn't too disappointed since the flavors of the dish were addictingly good. My friend and I also split the Lamb Curry and Garlic Naan which were both delicous too. The dishes looked small but they came with so much rice it's actually very filling and the rice absorbs all the yummy curry. The restaurant itself was clean and furnished nicely with Indian themed decor. Our server was good, checked on us a couple times and surprised us by giving us a discount on our bill in addition to the $5 off yelp check in offer!

Emma U.

Yelp
My all-time favorite Indian food in the Twin Cities. I make the drive because the food is worth it!

Kelly B.

Yelp
I love this place SO much. Their Chicken Makhani and Palaak Paneer are my faves, but I also can't stay away from the garlic naan. If you're not sure what you like, check out the lunch buffet! Great variety; I always find something new to love!
