The Best Indian Food in Portland, Beaverton, and Hillsboro | Eater Portland

"Around Diwali, this Bethany Court spot is a common go-to for barfi, plump ladoo, and gulab jamun well saturated with syrup. India Sweets & Spices likely has the area’s widest selection of Indian desserts — packaged and house-made — but it also offers a savory menu, including a popular samosa chaat." - Rebecca Roland

19 Beaverton Restaurants Making the Portland Suburb a Dining Destination

"India Sweets & Spices has much in common with Apna Chat Bhavan due to its grocery store-meets-counter service hybrid model. They both serve chaats and thalis, as well as chole bhature, a fried puffy bread served with chickpea curry. The move here, however, is to order a pile of mithai, those often syrup-soaked, sometimes colorful, fudgy Indian sweets that aren’t often found in the Portland area. Treats like barfi, rasgulla, and laddoo are available by the pound, though folks can also order things like gulab jamun by the two-piece set." - Krista Garcia, Janey Wong

Bad customer service, Cholle bhature only has one bhatura has to pay extra for extra bhatura. That is not typical Punjabi food. Overcharges for card payment. Highly priced. Rip off!

I’ve been coming here for the last few times mainly because I like their samosa but whenever at the store the lady (the one with long hair) who works there is extremely rude, unpolished and just not very nice. I even called a couple of times for a pickup and omg she has absolutely no manners when she talks forget normal greetings. Maybe the owner SHOULD invest in some training for her. Anytime I enter the store and if she’s around I just get done with things asap so that I can avoid being there. There are no price tags for a LOT of items there so that lady gets pissed off if I go ask her the price. How about you put up the price tags for the customers. You’re literally wasting my time while the EMPLOYEE frowns upon us for asking the price as if she’s gonna pay for everything I purchase. You’re lucky that we are not acting as pissed off as you. Did you just expect us to swipe our cards without asking? Or is she gonna pay for us? Seriously, do better or find a job that suits your personality (not sure if there are many though).

Hi All, I have very bad experience . I visited this store first time and bought Fried Onion and Urad dhal. Once I came home observed both are expired on 2022 itself 😰🙈. Please try to see expiry before buy any groceries in this store. Looks this store has many items like this.

The chat is good. We had bread pakoda and it wasn't fresh(I got sore throat the next day). Got some sweets and they were okay and had oily/buttery/dalda taste.

Chai Pai

Google
Delicious food. We been here several times for awesome samosas, samosas chat & assorted sweets. This was our first time eating thali & we are now a fan of it. You get 3 gravies of ur choice from the options they offer, naan, pickle, basmati rice (can be swapped with extra naan), dessert of your choice & raita.

Google
We went there to pick up the All India Thali and the amount of curry that they provided is minimal. It was mentioned that there will be 2 paneer pieces ( I could find 2 but maybe 1 and 1/4) and the kadhi cannot be added as it will spill over in the box. These reasons sound lame to me. If the prices need to be increased to make sure that the amounts are decent, so be it. But don’t put such scarce amounts for lunch Thalia please. I did order curries separately due to this and paid for it. The 2 stars because the food does taste good.

Google
The sweets tastes better than other places in town but the shop is very dirty. I fund hair twice in the food once inside the samosa and once in one of the sweets so I stop buying food from there.

Google
Food is fresh and tastes amazing. Probably the best North Indian food I've had in the US and I lived in Houston for 2 years. I would highly recommend their buffet. Their paneer is fresh and dal makhani is creamy and flavorful. I also tried their sweets which were also fresh and delectable. This place is 100% vegetarian too!

Yelp
Hands down the best place for samosa and samosa chat! It has the perfect blend of everything! Their motichoor is also one of the best in the Beaverton area ! They recently did an expansion. I didn't personally like the layout but this area now has more seating. Overall a great place for chat and chole batura ! Totally worth a try and one place I am definitely coming back !

Yelp
Great food! I loved the prepared veggies and the sweets. I'd recommend it. Very tasty.

Yelp
My 7 year old son has been interested in trying Indian food and Indian desserts because of a kids show he watches. We came here on a Saturday afternoon. Upon entry the aromas were amazing! We were excited to try the food they offered. Then came the part where we were ignored by staff, while other people (we were the only white family) were served. I thought, "surely this isn't a race thing, it's just a different culture." We wait, walk around, wait some more. Finally it's our turn to order, and their menu (which is displayed on three flat screen tvs) goes blank. One moment there was a large menu of items and prices, next moment it's black (not turned off, just black). I do my best to order some sweets and samosa. There was one samosa left, and she told me they didn't have any. I could literally see it. At that point, I looked around and got a vibe that we weren't going to gain any ground in the matter. The desserts we received seemed old. Very disappointing start to introducing my child to Indian food.

Yelp
While we are a regular customer at this store and love their food and sweets, a disappointing incident recently occurred. We got sweets for my baby shower and they were spoiled, and were reeking. Of crs, we did not leave the occasion to report it, but went there few days later. They just apologized, but did not offer money back, or offer complimentary items to compensate. Again, we are pretty regular customers and they know us, so we were disappointed with their customer service. Consuming that rotten sweet by a pregnant woman could have had harsh consequences. It is fortunate that others ate it before me and stopped me from trying it. Things can go wrong, but there are professional ways to compensate, and this shop owner did not do a good job.

Yelp
While hanging out with my friend, she mentioned she wanted to check out a few international markets because going to the same American and North Eastern Asian ones could be convenient but ... boring? So I volunteered to take her to India Sweets & Spice because I visited it before and knew we could grab a quick lunch there! The market is located in a business lot across the Burger King block. It's not hard to find, you just have to look for it. Once entered, you'll see array of spices and tea on the first two rows. Then the fresh food and sweets counters on your right and fresh produce and more grocery items in the back. My friend and I went thru each isles checking everything out. We enjoyed all the fun packages, amazed how big it actually is, and how fresh the produces they offered. I ended up getting some turmeric powder, almond cookies and butter chicken dry mix. Then we ordered a samosa, a bowl of curry and a flat bread to sample. While everything was fresh and good, we agree the samosa was the winner! It was warm, crunchy and perfectly seasoned with curry seasoned meet and potato. Hmmm... so good! About the dry mix? I tried it and think it turned out pretty good! Its not as delicious as the butter chicken in some restaurants, but it's convenient and tasted quite decent!

Yelp
Best Punjabi store in portland, Oregon! I'm from California and missed the authenticity of Punjabi stores until recently! Love this place.

Manasa P.

Yelp
We wanted to try out samosa chaat here and it was really well done. The sauces used and the flavour of the chaat was amazing. The portion size is pretty good for the price. Would definitely go back in here for a quick snack.

Yelp
I have tried quite a variety of food from this place - samosas, Golgappa, Bhel Puri, Papdi chat and Chole Batoora. Absolute best for Samosas. You can call me a samosa connoisseur and this place definitely tops the list in Hillsboro-Beaverton area! The food definitely tastes like home made food. I feel the general cleanliness of the place could be better. But, their food is absolutely delicious! Definitely visit them and try their Samosas!!

Yelp
After reading all the good reviews about the Chole bhature here at India Sweets and Spices, I was really looking forward to coming here for my own taste of it. I'm no stranger to the delightful cuisine of India, having enjoyed it for over twenty years now. The food service area is located inside an Indian grocery store. When I entered this afternoon I was the only customer there. A nice lady appeared from the back and took my order. I chose to get my food to go but there is seating available for dining here. While my order was being prepared I took the opportunity to browse the grocery section. The store seemed neat, clean and well organized. I had ordered the chole bhature and a side order of bhindi masala. Both items were below standard. The bhature was extremely oily. It had been placed in a paper bag and the bag was drenched in oil. The chole and the bhindi both had that tangy taste that food gets when its old. You can tell when food is not fresh and this wasn't. I will not return here.

Yelp
I love this place and the owners! I have loved every bite of food I have tried here. I had never eaten Indian food before trying India Sweets & Spices and it opened my plate to a whole new adventure in food. I highly recommend eating here. They have wonderful sweets and the food is heavenly.

Yelp
This is only for the food that I had here, the pani puri and the infamous bhatura... I have never noticed that a shop existed in this place and we happened to accidently look at it and the food seemed to have good reviews, so why not.. We ordered the bhatura that everyone raved about and as usual pani puri.. I make sure I get that in any place that serves no matter how it tastes.. Bhatura was amazing.. I could have probably just eaten it by itself.. Soft not so oily bhatura served with yummy chole, must try.. The pani puri was decent too, the water was a perfect sweet spicy tangy mixture than most places I am used to in the US.. I will return to try some more of their food

Yelp
So took a Togo of Pav Bhaji, chole Bhatura , paneer maghni, aloo parata and gobi mannchurian. The place is popular for sweets and North Indian snacks too. Loved Bhatura and maghni. Gobi manchurian was bit sweet for my liking. Aloo Paratha tasted good , but didn't get the authentic bhaaji taste from pav Bhaaji ordered. It's a decent place for quick bite any day. Highly recommended for North Indian style food.

Yelp
It's a Indian grocery store with a small food area where you can try some of the Indian dishes they serve there. For grocery shopping I think it is a nice place as they have most of the indian vegetable, frozen items, spices, and snacks. The food they serve is decent in taste and is better than some of the other Indian grocery stores nearby but my main issue here is that the lack cleanliness and I have observed this many times. I would suggest you to take out whatever you want to eat from here as the dining area is not too clean and is very small. There Aalo paratha, Chole bhatura, Pav bhaji, and thali is good is taste.

Yelp
Heads up for anyone ordering that they have recently reduced the number of bathuras in the their chole bathure plate to just one bathura. Two bathure is a standard per plate anywhere I have eaten and used to be same at this establishment as well. I ordered dinner for five people yesterday and was surprised to see only half the quantity of food I expected. It was too late to call and order more since they were closed so we ended up cooking anyway :(. They have recently reduced the price of the plate by one dollar and reduced the quantity of food by half. Of course, you cannot order another bathura for a dollar more :). With so many good options for Indian food in the area this place keeps going lower in my list of go-to places.

Yelp
I love the food here. It is my favorite Indian food in the Portland area. It is all vegetarian and authentic :) I really am happy with there buffet ish setup. They have a great set of options for entrees and then all the good extras like pickle and desert. I like being able to grab a few groceries while I am there, too. The staff is helpful and accommodating (always happy to answer q's and sub GF stuff). This is probably my favorite place to eat locally. Missing one star because generally it could be quite a bit cleaner. Still...soooo yummy.

Yelp
I really like this place as both a grocery and sweet shop. My one major complaint that stops me from giving it 5 stars is that every time I've been in, something I want to order is unavailable. However, as people have noted, it's a small mom and pop place with their children running the register and occasionally the cook isn't in. It's occasionally been a trade off: one time I went in and there were no jalebi because the person who made those wasn't in. Then I went another time and the jalebi were fresh and hot, not even yet put out on the tray. I was in heaven! However, the guy who made the dosas wasn't in. No matter what, though, I can get a nice thick lassi that isn't watered down with 90% ice, and when you do get jalebi fresh, that's like the luckiest day ever. The tamarind chutney is super flavorful as well, and I'm not usually a fan of sweet chutney. Also, yes to crispy hot dosas and samosa or the fried lentil bread served with chutney. The grocery is small, but you can get some nice staples that you wouldn't find in other places, like the many kinds of dal your kitchen might be missing, some cheap almond or coconut oil or that ribena and Cadbury flake you've been missing.

Yelp
India Sweets and Spices is a full Indian grocer and cafeteria-style sit-down vegetarian eatery. I've hesitated to review it because I'm afraid of them being overrun by Americans with American taste. So, everyone, please take this test: Do you like Swagat? Is that your idea of perfect Indian food? If you answered yes to these questions, please stay home instead of going to India Sweets and Spices and complaining about it. K? Thanks. This is not Swagat; their menu has more than the usual six vegetarian dishes that you see at most boring Americanized Indian restaurants. They have dosas, South Indian crepes with yummy stuffings like potato masala, bhel puri, a very addictive snack, chole bhature, a chickpea curry served with a giant poofy poori, and my favorite, aloo tikki choley, which is a little of everything and is totally delicious despite kind of looking like barf on a plate. For those who know and crave real Indian, or want to try something more interesting, they also have some gems like vada sambar, methi paratha, and loads of crazy deserts like dhoda, peda, various flavors of burfi and laddu which you don't see at most places. They also have a daily thali. The website has their full menu. The store is extensive and huge, and has everything you could want, spice-wise and otherwise. And I mean everything otherwise...if you want some imported masala-flavored Cup O' Noodles, you can get it there. If you are brave enough to try making your own dosas but lack the necessary kitchen equipment, you can get it there. If you need hair oil, a 10lb bag of channa dal, black mustard seeds or amchur powder, candied fennel...you get the idea. Be sure to call ahead if you're making a long trip, the food service has different hours than the store that seem to vary unpredictably (although it is usually closed on Mondays).

Yelp
I was so excited to find this grocery store--it's huge and clean and the people who work here are actually friendly.. A big improvement over the tiny, dirty grocery stores in Boston and the not so friendly ones in Seattle. I was so excited to see the tea rusk brand that my parents have always stocked in the pantry at home and some rotis that are from Canada that I had tried up there this summer.. We'll definitely back, so relieved we don't have to rely on the Whole Foods Indian section anymore :)

Yelp
There sure was a lot hidden inside this place. From the street you have no idea that they have a vegetarian restaurant in the rear nor how large the store actually is. As far as the store goes it seems well stocked a bit pricey but the items are rare and make for a nice change of pace. You can save a lot of money by buying your spices here though so it all equals out I think. They have a wide assortment of incense as well. The restaurant section is nice, a TV is going with Bollywood videos which are always fun to watch! All the items are vegetarian and the selection is not bad. I tried the house signature dish - crazy chaat - even though I had no clue what I was ordering. It was a good choice, though something more to be split with a friend than had as a whole meal. I might have to revise them up to four stars one day, but I will go a few more times first - I need half stars!
google avatar

April R.

Yelp
The guy at the counter was rude. I've never had Indian desserts and I wanted to try a few things. I told him i wanted to order like 1 of each dessert they had. He smirked and was smug about it and said "only one" and I said "yes" just 1'of each dessert i wanted to try. As a customer I believe I have the right to how many I ordered even if it's 1 item or 12. That's my decision. Then he had to tell me that their $8.99/lb blah blah blah. Not going back there again. Not gonne give that store any of my money.

Yelp
This place has been one of our favorite places to go for their hot foods over the years. We don't get there often as we would like, but we always get one of the combination platters because the main dish changes so we never get the same thing twice, other than fantastic flavors! For the size of the store, they pack a lot into it from spices to jarred Indian pickles to frozen food to snack food, it's our "go to" Indian store! While not an upscale establishment, they can't be beat for everything they offer, including Bollywood dance scenes on the TVs!

Ana P.

Yelp
Amazing store. Little bit expensive but I loved the food and sweets. It was really fresh. They have to improve their customer service .
google avatar

Syedda Z.

Yelp
Decided to stop by to get some spices from here. Also ended up getting Papdi chaat and Gulab jamun. Papdi chaat portion is very small and is very bland. It didn't have any flavor and too much cold yogurt in it. Gulab jamun which is usually always good gettting from anywhere but at this place it turned out to be soggy and tasted really old. Ended up throwing in the garbage.

Kishan B.

Yelp
5 star for their Samosas. One of the best I've eaten and consistently awesome. Also always hot and fresh. Chole Batoora is our next favorite. Other chats like Kachori, pakoda are great as well. So are the sweet dishes like Boondi Laadoo (love the Elaichi flavor). I'm surprised on the number of reviews (59) submitted though, definitely deserves more.
google avatar

Geeta P.

Yelp
Really great place. I had a send off party, I ordered 30 samosa and they made it ready in 30 min. Awsome. My co workers loved the samosas and they asked me where I got it. So they can go an try some more stuff, at this place .
google avatar

Yelp
I used to eat here a lot when I worked in the neighborhood, over 10 years ago. Back then, it was clean, and the food was fresh and delicious. My family and I were passing by today and decided to go get lunch... Only to find that the food was greasy, lukewarm, and not tasty at all. We are concerned because the bathroom was dirty and the food wasn't hot. Let's hope that we didn't just get food poisoning... We will not be back.
google avatar

Julian M.

Yelp
Located in a strip mall surrounded by gyms, it looks small from the outside. Inside is a large Indian Grocery store selling a large selection of spices, herbs, lentils, beans, flours, fresh vegetables and rice. They even have spices in large containers, should you need five pounds of tumeric. They are also a restaurant with some truly delicious food. You order at the counter they bring the food to your table. This is not a white table cloth place, you come here for the food, not the service. You may find better service at a regular Indian restaurant, but you won't find better food. Warning, the kitchen is closed on Mondays.

Anagha K.

Yelp
The best chole bhature that I have had in Portland, OR. Really authentic taste. I have been looking for a place with good chole bhature but didn't find anything good enough. Happy to find my go to place for chole bhature. We also ordered samosas and they were pretty damn good as well.
google avatar

Swepna M.

Yelp
I love their chole bhature, it's simply awesome and consider it best around Beaverton area.
google avatar

Blank B.

Yelp
My wife came home from this Indian grocery with a bag full of the stuff she used to get back at Little India in Artesia, CA: cardamon, chile flakes, rose water, coconut oil, etc. She's been looking for a place to stock her Indian spice tray for a while and this store will certainly fill the bill. They also had the incense and sandalwood soap she likes. I loved the samosas she brought home in her other bag. Those were some huge samosas--almost as big as my fist and filled with tasty deliciousness. Good stuff! This place is close enough to my office that I'm absolutely going to stop in to try their dosas.
google avatar

Harsha R.

Yelp
Among the several varieties that Indian cuisine has to offer, 'chaat' is probably my favorite. Since I spend most of my time in Salt Lake City where chaat is as an almost alien concept, I feel much deprived and try to make up for it as much as possible whenever I visit Portland. That being said, I'm surprised that I am yet to try the much acclaimed chaat houses in downtown Portland. I suppose the reason for that being this grocery store called India Direct located in Beaverton. They also house a small restaurant inside which goes by the name of India sweets and spices (http://indiasweetsandspices-oregon.com/default.aspx) where you get yourself some real tasty chat. The proximity of this location works well for me and they usually do a good job of keeping me happy. Their chaats are as good as any I have had in the US. I really like their chole baturas. So much so that, I go there with the sole intention of only buying groceries, I start craving for chole baturas and end up eating one! Coupled with a TV dishing out Bollywood videos, I feel at home, if only for a few minutes. Not that they are not without their faults. I remember eating samosas over here with no salt in the stuffing. Not much you can do about it when that happens but it was probably just an exception. As a grocery store, they are usually well stocked with Indian groceries and the prices are what you would expect. They rent out Hindi movies (DVDs) as well. And oh yes, I tend to walk the fine line of temptation when it comes to their selection of Indian sweets.
google avatar

Singaravelan V.

Yelp
I have tried the food at this place quite a few times for dine-in and takeout. The Chaat items like Samosa, Dahi papri chat, Crazy Chat are all pretty good. I also like their Chole Bhatura which is very good for just $6/plate. Most of their Chaat items are quite filling and you will love this place if you like spicy indian food. The grocery items are arranged a little haphazard unlike Apna Bazaar which is very neat and organized. I dont go to this place much for grocery items and mainly go for their Chaat and sweets. They have a wide variety of sweets which are pretty authentic.
google avatar

Maryam B.

Yelp
If you love authentic indian food, go! This is definitely the most authentic indian food I've had in Portland. They have their menu available online, and you can call in ahead of time to place an order for pick up. I've done this a few times, and I always intend to take photos but then start eating before that happens. No matter what you get, make sure you get a cup of their chai. I know it's in Beaverton, but it's such a short hop from downtown once you're on the 26 that you'd barely even know (unless you go around 5/6pm obviously). There are also some fun items in the grocery store that I like to stock up on: - paneer! - nanak's frozen ras malai (just try it! incredible!) - green chilis ALSO - if you look closely and you're lucky, they have a garam masala spice mix that is a bag of all of the various spices used in garam masala that you grind yourself. IT IS OUTRAGEOUS! It's super interesting to see all the various spices that go into this mix, and the level of fragrance and flavor that comes from a fresh ground blend is incomparable to anything else. I would go just for this spice mix.

Yelp
Preface: I am from India, I have good idea of what Indian snacks should taste like. I would say they have pretty good Indian snacks. But service is painfully slow. I normally visit this store one in a few months to get my fix of chaat.
google avatar

Eli K.

Yelp
By far the best Indian food I've had in Portland. Especially for the money. I especially recommend the potato cutlet and chutney app - it blew my mind (and was essentially a $6 meal). You have absolutely got to go here. Yes the attitude isn't overly warm and the atmosphere isn't amazing... but you're in a deli that's half grocery store and the food is ridic cheap and AMAZING! My girlfriend is currently pregnant with food baby twins from this place and is really happy about it. Just go. Seriously.
google avatar

Kaushikd D.

Yelp
Hidden in an obscure parking lot this place is a gem. Sweets and snacks are freshly made and the owners are very friendly. Samosas, kachoris, chhole bature are all excellent an so are the jalebis. Keep in mind this place is not stocked in groceries like some of the other places around town, but it warrants a visit purely based on the food!

Yelp
5* food in a 3* place Quality of the food: 5 * I had Aloo Paratha and some fresh made indian sweets (warning: not all sweets were fresh made) - the ones I had were kept on the checkout desk. Coming from Dallas where we have 50+ indian restaurants - I can swear that this was one of the top 10% in terms of quality. Service: 4* Very nice & friend people, the guy took my order was also attending the cash counter (it is a grocery store) and kept promising me that it will be delivered in 5 mins (the perpetual desi 5 mins), he was very courteous which made me excuse him for all the delay. Took 20 mins to deliver the aloo paratha and another 15 minutes to pay the bill (long line, common checkout counter for restaurant & grocery). Do not come here if you are in a hurry (give atleast 30-45 mins for service & checkout) Ambiance 3* It is a Grocery, so what else do you expect ? It is clean well maintained, but the plates, spoons & forks are all plastic. Overall - I love this place and planning to take some sweets back to Dallas for my wife and our princess.
google avatar

Lin N.

Yelp
Much more than sweets and spices... a grocery store and restaurant as well! Though I wouldn't describe it as 'fully stocked', it did have a good selection of Indian Groceries (including frozen items). The person who usually makes the dosas was not in the store that day, so we had to settle for pakora.. which wasn't settling at all. It was very, very good and the tamarind sauce was some of the richest I've had. The Hollywood dance videos playing in the background added to the experience. I will definitely return!
google avatar

Jyoti N.

Yelp
By far my favorite grocery store of the 3 located close to each other because of the authentic south Indian snack bar. I tried the samosas and chaat in the other 2 but this place beats them in taste and flavor

Sourabh K.

Yelp
Please try to avoid buying stuff from this place.... 1.We tried to purchase i)Vegetables - which were not fresh at all. They are trying to get rid of the stored stuff ii)At the counter the attendant manually uploaded all the items(Vegetable) so there is no guarantee that the item that was being loaded in the billing software was of the same amount displayed with weight. On top of this all the items in the vegetable section were named as "VEGETABLE" in the receipt At Food The good part was Chhole bhature....and we order the special thali which had 1.Old Samosa 2.Frozen Gulab Jamun 3.Chapati were freshly baked 4.Jeera rice were not fresh Insort for food its your choice... but for vegetables and grocery...I will not recommend this store....

Yelp
I have been going here for a while. I decided to leave a review now because they seem to have done some minor remodeling and started a very cheap lunch plate out of a buffet style set up (it is not a buffet). The review is for the lunch options, although I do shop for groceries when I am here. They have some most authentic and also unique items here that you don't get elsewhere. For example, their Chole Batore is very good and I have been told by friends that this is the authentic punjabi way of making it. It is superior to the same item sold elsewhere. Most recently, I had the Amritsari Kulcha which was also great and a really good quantity of food for $5. On another occassion, we stopped here for a light snack, and their Aloo Bonda was excellent (but a little splicy). The overall summary is try this place if you want some authentic and unique vegetarian Indian options.

Yelp
Try the newly added Amritsari kulcha. It's as good as it gets! Chole bhature, samosas are all time favourites. Overall this place seems to have had a small makeover. It's well stocked, all items on food menu are available (used to be a common problem) and service has improved.

Yelp
This is a standard indian store that also sells food on the side. Overall, considering the number of Indians in and around the Portland Metro area there are not that many good indian places. This is one of the better ones for north indian food. Except for the indian food supplies that I get from here this place offers some very good chole bhature (nearly the best in this area) and exceptional ras malai (milk based sweet). There crazy chat and some of the thali's they serve are also very good. There selection of other indian sweets is also good. Overall some authentic indian food for a cheap but fulfilling meal.

Yelp
When I am in Hillsboro and feel like having chole bhature, I go to this place. The taste and the serving remind me of the restaurants in Punjab, India. The bhaturas are served with chole, raita, onions, and pickle. Very tasty and filling. One experience I need to mention and its a positive one. When I placed the order and went to pay, the cashier said I can pay later. So when they brought the food and called my no. I went to pay again and she said I can pay after eating the food. Only after I finished eating she accepted my payment. I thought it was a nice gesture.

Yelp
Great prices, and good fresh food. I would recommend the Chole and samosas. Better than many of the other Indian restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Yeah! I love the food here and getting some staples. I am delighted to say they've been cleaning up and making it nice. Now that I'm not afraid of the bathroom I'll be excited to come more frequently. Thanks guys.

Yelp
This is a grocery/deli-style restaurant. The groceries are packed in and include a fresh produce section, frozen, dry goods, and cooking wares. The deli is delicious and well-priced. You order at the counter and take your food to go or dine-in. The dining is simple - a few booths and tables - but adequate.

Yelp
So I have stopped by for a lunch on several occasions. Clearly a "mom and pop" situation, the owners are slow to provide a smile. Not grouchy, per se, but absolutely could work on the customer relations piece, one wonders why they are in a business serving the public. That said, I have had at least 4 very nice plates of aloo paratha, chole bhatura and similar. Unfortunately the refrigerated drinks available require you to be familiar with sodas found in India, and having known them to be too sweet for my taste, I have steered clear. Backup plan is the pricey Tulsa tea or (free) paper cups of water. The water cooler clearly needs a cleaning, on, around near...as does the drink refrigerator. In that it is also a grocery, one might guess a lot of dust is stirred up, but still...grime is grime. Today I went in and although the parents(?)/owners were around, the kids were running the cash register. I ordered my aloo paratha and it came (kids didn't cook it), but it was entirely charcoal on the bottom. Every bite was carbon-tasting. After attempting to eat the few bits that weren't actually black, I realized it tasted burned everywhere. I had to buy tea and as I paid, I told them it was inedible and the staff were not the least bit concerned with the quality issue. Maybe I should have made a scene, but I didn't...but I lament that customer service is not their specialty.

Yelp
Decent grocery store, slightly overpriced for certain items but overall good variety. But I love the kitchen. My favorite dishes here are - samosa, Cholla batura, thali and sweets.
